A nice and more cool place for good and nutritious food what good ingredients,I really enjoyed every bit of my like there with thier delicious dishes
Best pasta Ive ever tried in my life. The service was great, lovely and friendly. Highly recommended
Highly recommend. You will likely need a reservation, it’s worth the effort to make one. All of the pastas we had were delicious. We will be back for sure!
I’m very satisfied. They are high-quality and worth the money. The store also offered free shipping at that price so that’s a plus!”
We were passing by and felt hungry, so we decided to stop here for a meal. We got a warm welcome and were impressed with the wide selection of beers and the extensive menu. The dishes are mostly traditional, and not very adventurous or exotic, but it was decent, reasonably priced, warm and well presented. We were served quickly, considering there were seven of us, and the staff were polite. Overall, it was good value for money and I would definitely go there again.
The food is fantastic. The pictures below show tortellini in broth and tagliatelle ragù.The service is better than we had in any other restaurant in Italy. Personal, honest and from the heart. Such a complete experience!

A lovely, cozy trattoria. Excellent food, excellent service, wonderful wines.. Trust them to recommend dishes, eat what is in season, you wont regret!
Lovely place! Very local and amazing traditional dishes! I must to try either for lunch or dinner! Service was impeccable.
Everything was really tasty and the bolognese was outstanding. Staff helpful and kind.
Lunch here 9/2/22, had cold cut and porcini mushroom pasta. Pork belly in the cold cut is exceptionally good both in favor and texture. The porcini mushroom pasta looked simple but the flavor is explosive, very good. Highly recommend.
Small, delightful jem. Pasta done to perfection.
Good food! Good energy. The kindest men/waiters work here.
Great place for traditional Bolognese cuisine. We enjoyed dinner here with a coldcut plate, porcini salad, taglietti Bolognese, meat balls, and the vegetarian plate. Everything was tasty and well conceived. The wait staff was friendly and provided great service. My wife is fond of ice and our waiter brought her a huge bowl of ice. She was very happy.
Highly recommend. You will likely need a reservation, it’s worth the effort to make one. All of the pastas we had were delicious. We will be back for sure!
Lovely service. English speaking staff, but local atmosphere. Great fresh food.
The restaurant is located in the city center. It’s not a big restaurant, so the atmosphere is quite intimate. The food is very well cooked
Best pasta and Panna Cotta I’ve ever tried in my life. I don’t have any other words but BELISSIMO. Just come and eat.
Such a great restaurant, rustic authentic Italian food. Both ravioli dishes were amazing. Don’t be afraid to ask for wine recommendations and definitely get the panacota
This was one of the best meals we had in Italy! We got the assorted regional coldcuts, home-made pasta with Bolognese sauce, and fresh ravioli with porcini mushrooms and black truffle. I would highly recommend the coldcut platter; it came with five different kinds of meats (mortadella, pig head, prosciutto, salami, and pork bellyand each was distinctive and tasty. The Bolognese pasta was hearty, and you could really taste the truffles in the ravioli.
Wow! Such an amazing restaurant.Great food and atmosphere
WOW - what a place. We had the most delicious lunch here - mortadella to start, ragu pasta, roast beef, and finished off with their famous panna cotta. Everything was fantastic & the service was excellent. Well be back.
We had a spectacular lunch here. The service was slow and relaxed but friendly. Don’t expect to have a quick meal here but expect to have a tasty one! Recommend the ravioli with pumpkin & butter. Next time would spend longer and order a bottle of wine. Highly recommend.
We ate at Cesari several times during our month long stay in Bologna. We loved all of the staff and the service was phenomenal in addition to the food. The best place to go for a rustic, traditional dinner in Bologna!
Great service. The artichoke is very delicious. Creamy and flavorful. The pasta and the meatball are ok. Not bad but not impressive and harmonious as one other restaurant in Bologna.
I could eat here every day. We ordered the tagliatelle, tortellini in brodo, ravioli de zucca, and aubergine rolls. Everything was perfect, and service super friendly.
Good home style Italian food, but price is higher than it should be, imo.
You are looking for a rustic, traditional restaurant that serves regional home-made food: This is the place to be!The food is fantastic. The pictures below show tortellini in broth and tagliatelle ragù.The service is better than we had in any other restaurant in Italy. Personal, honest and from the heart. Such a complete experience!Ps: the restaurant is owned by 3rd generation family from town. It was fully booked on a Monday night in February. Must be doing an amazing job! ;- So please make sure to make reservations before. They all speak fantastic English.
Wonderful! The best part was the waiter’s face when I asked him if the Panna Cotta had gelatin. He told me that theirs did not, they cooked it for 6 hours. Of course, I had to order it!When I had the first spoon I was in Panna Cotta’s heaven and learned that I did not know anything about Panna Cotta before.Go to this restaurant to try the non gelatin 6 hours Panna Cotta; you will not regret it!Everything else is also deliciously perfect…But the Panna Cotta is heaven!
This is a guarantee. Wonderful traditional Bolognese cuisine, exceptional service, fast, efficient and friendly. The food is delicious - we had the tagliatelle with truffle, as well as a pumpkin flan to start off with and a chocolate cake to finish - mmm, so good!! And the ambience is straight out of a film set - what a lovable Italian Trattoria-Ristorate looks like. Located very centrally, and a favourite of the law firms located close by, be sure to book. It’s always full! We’ll be back!
Thank you so much for the nice lunch!Traditional dishes created to perfection. No fuss, just wonderful.
I found this chammy and great restaurant in a guide book from 2013…it’s considered one of the best in Bologna. Still it is. My food was perfect and delicious…specially the simple pasta bolognese….then the homemade Panna Cotta was just out of this world! Fully recommended.
Delicious down home cooking. Beautiful and fresh homemade pastas. A must-try in Bologna. Recommend the tagliatelle and Panna cotta.
Traditional Italian/Bolognese restaurant the food and the service were exceptional. The prices are reasonable when considering everything. It is highly recommended to book your table due to the demand and also because this restaurant is a bit small.
Loved the food, the staff, the setting. For me, the whole experience was like a warm hug from your favourite grandma - who happens to be cooking out the back at Cesari. Go!
Really great food, huge portions, lovely staff. We shared a pasta dish and 2 mains between the 2 of us and that was plenty of food. Also great wine selection.
This has been the best experience i have ever had in an Italian restaurant.Firstly, this place looks gorgeous, both the exterior and interior are typically Italian, it is the reason i choose to try out this restaurant after seeing pictures online. When arriving at the restaurant we were served by the extremely friendly and social head waiter and his staff, he explained to us that the restaurant is a family run business and he was third generation. His parents, who own the place, were sitting in the restaurant also enjoying diner which was lovely to see, as the family working together really added to the atmosphere. When explaining us about the dishes he clearly showed much passion for his work, his English was amazing and the English menus also helped tremendously with choosing dishes. We drank a wine that night that was made by the brother of the owner, bearing the same name as the restaurant..The food was absolutely superb, we started with a plate of cold cuts that screamed absolute quality. All the meats were fresh and of high quality. After that I had the scalopina with roasted potatoes which in my eyes is the best Italian dish i ever had, which isnt an overstatement, if really was that good. We ended our diner with a dessert tasting which consisted of three delicious desserts.I can really say this place was amazing, it felt like it came straight out of an Italian movie. Everything from the exterior/interior, to the staff, the food and that it was owned by a wonderful Italian family created an atmosphere and experience that was absolutely spectacular. I would rate this place six stars if i could but i sadly cant. I personally want to thank everyone involved for this experience!
This was the best restaurant in Bologna we have been to. Excellent service in English. The food was amazing starting from wine to deserts! We had 2 starters and for main meal I have choose Parmigiana-it was magnificent. Definitely recommend this place for atmosphere, good food and friendly customer service!
This was our favorite restaurant in all of Bologna, and perhaps in all of Italy. It is both that good and that friendly. We had the place almost to ourselves (four of usbecause it was the night of the Italy vs. Spain game. The food was superb - we wanted traditional Bologna food, but expertly made. I had the 24-month seasoned ham in "Cervia" salt, the pasta with Bolognese sauce (best ever), and the triple dessert (the panna cotta is to die for). We were with Italian friends and they had long discussions with the proprietors about how they made the food. The waiters were incredibly good-humored and friendly, and we were simply transported to another and better world in which we ate and talked about the different regional foods of Italy. Meanwhile, they gave us updates about the first half of the match! (We watched the second half in a bar afterwards, to let the poor waiters go home!)
Ristorante Da Cesari was an excellent experience from beginning to end. Starting from the the minute you are greeted at the door, service is truly top notch. The staff are really helpful and will really go out of their way to help you choose the food and wineThey have a great menu with local classics, but also daily specials that break free from your typical Bolognese dishes. Lets say that I found it very hard to chooseFirst off you get homemade bread - this attention to detail is always a nice touch. When the dishes were explained, since this was on a hot summer night - I decided to start with a fresh funghi porcini salad, which I followed with a homemade spaghetti dish. I opted for truffle sauce which was really tasty. For main there was a lovely selection of meats but since it is bologna and I had already spent most of the day eating - I went for grilled porcini mushrooms. To finish off I had a light "sorbetto di zucca con aceto balsamico" - a really unexpected and tasty combination. I really wanted to choose their "dessert degustation" but I was too full from the day-so make sure you leave space for thisTo summarize - one of my best meals in Bologna, not cheap but really really good value for the food and the experience. Highly recommended
Top restaurant in Bologna. Beautiful indoor area but outdoor simply too loud due to busses passing by every two minutes (not joking). But food is perfect, staff super super friendly and it’s a nice Family owned business
Mamamia. Everything was just delicious. Traditional bolognese - amazing. Tortellini in broth - incredible. Pana cotta - highlight of the meal. Waiter was super sweet and genuine. Cannot find any fault, highly recommend this place.
Amazing meal + experience! We tried the pumpkin ravioli which was delicious and had a local sparkling wine. The staff were all very friendly and couldn’t help us enough. As everything was so good we couldn’t resist a dessert - for me the Zuppa Inglese + my girlfriend the Pumpkin + balsamic sorbet. One of the best meals we’ve ever shared 😊
We had dinner here and it was an amazing experience! The waiters were very friendly and even made us laugh. There were not much to choose from in the menu but every meal me ordered were definitely cooked to perfection. My favorite dish has to be the tortellini in brodo. It was so good and warm ... perfect for the cold weather.
We’d give ten stars if we could! An incredibly authentic, cosy, true Italian family restaurant experience. We enjoyed a bottle of wine (from a family vineyardand three pasta dishes. The staff were so thoughtful and served each dish split in half for us to enjoy, course by course. Each bite was heaven on earth. The pumpkin ravioli in particular was truly delicious. The staff here were so kind and lovely. Absolutely nothing to fault; an incredibly delicious meal.
Super great quality and super delicious. Make sure to get reservations. We walked in without but they were super accommodating and we were quite lucky. Also ordered pumpkin ravioli, porcini flan, and the sampler dessert but forgot to take pictures and instead just lived in the moment haha. Definitely recommend and would return!
Amazing on every level! Food ,wine, service and atmosphere! The bolognese was delicious. Grilled porcini mushrooms melted in my mouth The asparagus was a simply delicious dish! We loved every bit !! Grazie per la nostra magnifica cena e la calda ospitalità italiana.
Great interior, lovely stuff that will make you feel you have come to your family. Pasta was perfectly cooked and tasted great. Wine they offer is in complete harmony with their food and hospitality. Prices are dissent enough considering what you get.
Oh my god. The food here is absolutely delicious! The staff is super nice, always smiling and friendly. The service is quick. The wines are amazing, especially the white one home made (Liano). And the food is truly amazing. We had the pasta with ragù cooked 6 hours and it was the best I’ve ever had. Then we ordered the faraona with purée and it was superb. The desserts are insane as well. There is not one thing that isn’t great about this place. And it’s not too expensive either.Trust me, if you visit Bologna you have to go to Da Cesari!
