Ristorante Borgo Antico - Traditional restaurant in Florence, Italy
First of all we were changed table 3times .Then we were finally seated the waiter brought our cutlery and sous plats without cleaning the table with was sticky from spilled drinks .Mediocre food at an elevated price .With the same money we enjoyed exquisite meals in other trattorias in Florence
Good meal. Great service. My wife loved the tuna tartar. My pizza was good. Of course.Very relaxed location. Even with some drops of rain we were fine.
Their truffle pasta and Neapolitan pizza were amazing! Lovely terrace too!
Great restaurant. Please come without any other agenda and dwell and people watch! Crazy busy but somehow the food magically appears.Food is delicious!Worth a visit.
Very crowded, but hey we’re in Firenze in September on a very typical piazza. We had a complimentary drink during our wait, then the waiter placed us on the terrace, took our orders swiftly and the food arrived like two minutes later. Prices for typical toscanese food are a bit high so we tried the pizzas which were not expensive at all and very tasty - the crust was perfect. The tiramisu is nice, the spritz too. Our waiter was charming. Coperta is 2.5€ per person which is fine I guess. Overall a pleasant evening for such a crowded venue.
I will recommend you stop by in this restaurant. All dishes are really tasty.I was there three times!!
Pizza bianca and parpadalle were very good, reasonable prices. People leaving bad reviews after ordering cheese burgers need to grow up
cocktails are not good and expensive,we have to improvise just to able to drink our drinks. The Moscow Mule was just on the normal water glass! We ordered water but no glasses.
Amazing food!! We got the seafood mix starter. We had it for 3 people but could have fed 5! Great amount of food for the price!! The papardelle pasta was also on point, as was the beer and wine!! And great service! Felt like an authentic experience. Highly recommend!!
We had to ask twice for the check. And we were still waiting for about 15 minutes. And than another 3 minutes because the terminal wasn’t working. Food is average.
Most restaurants were closed so we went here for an early dinner. It felt more like a pub. The food was overpriced. The umbrellas obscured the views and it was packed with noisy drunk people smoking.
They make a mean Aperol Spritz (Spritz Venezianobut the food I had was poor.
It was recommended to us from our hotel. Went there for lunch. The food was excellent. We had pizza and Fiorentina steak. Service efficient and fast. Pricing very good, excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
The food was okay, but not so good as expected. The Calzone was very liquid inside and far too oily with too much cheese. The place and the service was very good.
This restaurant is badly overpriced! The food wasn‘t completely bad but really incredibly boring. Also we didn‘t get any bread, even had to search for salt and still had to pay the copperto. The only good thing was that the waiters were really friendly.
Best meal in my opinion during my stay. I ordered the pasta with clams and enjoy the overload of clams ☺️the pizza was so tasty and the bolognese was perfect.
Had the most gorgeous white pizza with Gorgonzola, walnuts, fig jam and honey…I think I’m in love ❤️ Pretty tree lined square to visit the market and eat in as well!
We went forbaome drinks and they served us the worst cocktails we drank in our lives. Gintonic: still water and tonic. Mojito: Rum, still water, bad squished limes, 0 sugar and no crushed iced.
They forgot our food. Waited for 2hrs, poor service and they didn’t even tell us they forgot our food! If you want to wait for hours to eat, with bad service then this place is perfect for you.
Lovely location and friendly feel. A very popular restaurant, always bustling.Food was tasty, but a long wait for just a penne pasta.
Not ok to serve mojito in smallest glass with dead mint leaves
We had the cured meet plate that was incredible value and the spicy tomato pasta. Both delicious! They accommodated for my fussy 8yr old who had spaghetti and butter, he ate the whole big bowl. Wasn’t a fan of the cocktails but the Pinot Grigio was great! Just wish I had more time in Florence so we could eat here again and try more of the food I saw coming out!
Extremely rude and scammed us. Have been there multiple times with a group and they have been able to split the check then all of a sudden today the owner told us it was not possible and overcharged all of us, despite us politely asking him to review the bill and the fact that we have previously split checks. He told us he didnt care if we ever came back, so I dont recommend eating here as the owner doesnt care about customers. Go to Gusto Osteria or Osteria Santo Spirito instead, food is much better there anyways.
Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. The linguini and Clams was very nice... a big thankyou to the staff for being so pleasant and attentive making this such an enjoyable experience. We will be back very soon.
These guys are the very best in Italy. They serve your salad fill ur glass then bring ur next order. My pizza was hot, the pasta was great. One day they will own their own trattoria!
Very pleased. We didn’t reserve and by going a little before 7 we got a table no problem (though plenty came after and were able to find tables too, without reservation!). The pesto penne was delicious. The piazza has a good ambiance. Many tables outdoors so it’s lively
Good location in a square and it looks traditional inside, but the service is a bit chaotic and the food nothing to rave about. Prices are also pretty high for the quantity and quality.
Pizze range from 10 to 12 euros and are delicious. I highly recommend the fruit cheesecake. We reserved the place, but where first given a table in the way of people. The waiter was kind enough to change our table.
My boyfriend and I ate here one night just for a spritz and minestrone soup. They brought out the most delicious olives I have ever tasted with their fluffy bread. Their campani spritz was delicious as well as their delicious soup. We came back the next day for lunch and had spaghetti with ricotta ravioli with grilled vegetables. AMAZING! Their tomato sauce hit what I needed perfectly. Love it here.
I think i am way too accustomed to flavors of southern Italy. The food was okay one of the staff members were courteous the others were not such gracious hosts. Needless to say, i probably wont be going back. Staff was not very attentive either. On a scale of 1 to 10 i give them a "meh" the ambiance was cool though which kept them up to a par rating
Small restaurant in the Piazza Santo Spirito. Calzone was very good, and the pasta was perfect. Service and staff did a great job.
I have been here many times. I managed to come back here after at least 8 years. At weekends they do fish plates. Always get the starter antipasto caldo di mare. This is a sharing plate, suitable for 3 people! As a main there are many plates. I had an amazing polipo con patate.
The food was hearty and cooked to perfection! Service can be slow but the food and atmosphere is worth it. The olives that come with the bread are one of my favorite things in this world!
The pappardelle al cinghiale (wild boar raguwas okay, nothing extraordinary. The risotto was great though.
Unfortunately we had a disappointing time this time at borgo antico. Perhaps because it was the reopening after a few weeks closed for the pandemic? I don’t know if that’s an excuse for serving spaghettis with the most boring tomato sauce from the can.The service was slow (also perhaps because of the reopeningbut that, I can forgive, especially that the waiters were nice and friendly. The terrace on the piazza is lovely. Even on a cold day.But the food, again, is not good enough and doesn’t deserve another visit from us.
Go for the location, not the food! And, obviously, eat outside. Back in the day, the food here was pretty tasty, but now it’s, at best, mediocre... and you’ll wait a lifetime for it. If it’s a good day, the spicy pasta is the best and the cheapest and sometimes the cheesecake is a delicious, generous portion. Bad days it’s tomato sauce straight from the can, old cheesecake, and a dirty bathroom with no toilet paper. But like I said, you go here to pass the time with friends, outside, in the glow of the unique and beautiful Santo Spirito church... as a side note, if they hear you speaking English they’ll more than likely try to pull a fast one on you. Don’t fall for a coffee that costs 4 times as much as the Italians next to you were charged. That HAS happened to me here. It was rectified when I complained.
The restaurant is located close to Palazzo Pieti which is how we ended up here, the food was good and enough to fill our appetites. It took a while to place our order and get somebody’s attention when paying the bill but the food got there fast.
Yum! Pappardelle with wild boar ragu was faultless, very delicious - although maybe could’ve had a slightly bigger serve 😉 but it was still a good size. We also had a calzone which was also good. Decent pricing, and service was friendly and attentive, we would definitely recommend.
We had an amazing steak with potatoes on the top and also a gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese that I couldn’t describe it so delicious it was.
Food is quite average, risotto had too much cheese in it. Also people who came after us were asked to order before, even though it was our turn. So they got their food earlier, which is an example of bad service.
We stumbled across this place south of the river outside The Church Santo Spirito. It seemed the best place. I had the Risotto - oh wow. The penne with pesto sauce was also good. The piazza was also great. With a wee drop of wine and the night is set. Loved it.
Happened upon this restaurant while looking for anywhere serving dinner at 6:15 PM that wasn’t completely overrun with tourists. We were happy to find Borgo Antico not only serving great food but also packed with Italians and tourists alike. Two of us shared a big salad, pizza with fresh bufala mozzarella, and wild boar ragout - all AMAZING! The pizza was one of the best we had in Northern Italy, and the ragout was outstanding - a huge portion with homemade pasta. The atmosphere of sitting out on the busy square was an equally important part of the meal. Would definitely recommend stopping in here if you’re in the area.
Located in a quiet piazza, away from the tourist crowds, in the Oltrarno Quartiere in Firenze, this restaurant was a pleasant discovery. Risotto and pasta are very good choices if you want to go for typical Italian food, but there are also options if you’re trying to stay away from carbs, like salmon, also a great choice. I suggest you end your lunch or dinner ordering the biscotti and vin santo, a traditional Italian dessert that you eat dipping the biscotti in the sweet wine for a moment until it gets soft enough for you to get a bite. You will never regret it!
Best Pizza in town, best Tiramisu in town. Service is good and really nice. Really nothing to complain. Best Restaurant of our Florence/Tuscany trip. We had to go twice, in fact ;)
We ordered hamburgers. Older and dry bun, dry meat falling apart, small spots of not so good cheese. Overall - dry and not worth it. The potatoes were good.
Great location to escape the heat. Food is good quality with a special appreciation for the boar pasta, the Pappardelle in the picture.
Great food and very nice staff! Wonderful gnocchi with truffle and best tiramisu in my life! I would love to give it 5 stars, but my husband found a piece of glass in his dessert:/
Good food and service. The portions are quite big, so consider sharing if you go with someone else.We had the Regina salad and it was delicious! The risotto was pretty good as well. The price is decent, not to expensive but also not cheap. We spent less than €50, but we didnt have any wine. Just the food, water, and coffee.
It’s a very touristic place located at the square with probably another ten wine bars and restaurants - all full of tourists. You literally move around in circles and don’t know which one to choose because they all look like a typical tourist trap. However, after we went to a few, I can say that this particular restaurant leaves surprisingly good impression. Food is tasty, drinks are good and service is nice. Waiters are friendly and helpful, dishes are served quite fast. If you’re around, I would recommend to check this restaurant. Otherwise, try to move away from a tourist area and find something really local.
Had the linguine Alla vongole. No shattered shells. Amazing fresh pasta! Im blown away by this place. Dont know what some people are on about. Guess they dont know great food
