Fantastic 4 course meal option. I also really appreciated the vegetarian options on the menu. All the ingredients seemed fresh and well prepared. On the expensive side, but it is a super high quality dining experience.

We ate at BR last evening, reservations at 6:30. We ordered nice wine, which they did not have, but their substitution was very good. Each of the 4 of us ordered an app to share, a salad and an entree. They were understaffed. While our server was charming, she was constantly apologizing about the slowness of serving our wine and food courses. Apps were really good. Salads were okay. But the entrees were not good. Mushy pasta, overly sauced, or dry. Flavor okay. We suggested mentioning it to the chef, but our server was obviously intimidated by him. Instead she comped us a bottle of wine—which was great of her, but she wasn’t responsible for the food. Hope this was just a bad night in the kitchen, because eating on the patio on a beautiful summer night should have been a lovely experience. We left at 9:30, right after finishing our entrees. 3 hours!

Summer took great care of us. The food was exceptional. Next time I am in Helena I will definitely be back!

Lovely 4 course meal paired with excellent wines. They did struggle with bringing the courses out timely as we were there for more than 3 hours but we still enjoyed it immensely.

Ive decided that this is the only place in town that I will go to eat out. I order the steak and it was great. The bartender and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. This place doesnt compare to the trash food, drinks and service in Helena. They have actual chefs and bartenders who take pride in what they do. The drinks are fantastic. Spend the money its worth it. So sick of unexperienced rude waiters and bartenders around town. This place is the exact opposite beyond competent and attentive.

Its my first time here and Im impressed! Its like being in Rome, with its ambience. Our server was awesome ! I wished I remember his name...he was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable with food served. The seafood ravioli was exceptionally awesome and delicious. Kudos to our Chef and all the Staff. My wife and I had dinner there last night and it was amazing. We both had the 4 course meal and the amount and quality of the food for the price was brilliant. We left very full with plenty of leftovers as well! Highly recommend giving it a try!

Pretty easily the best restaurant in Helena, in my opinion (Only Maison gets close...). We have had ~90% of the menu items and have been generally impressed with them all and incredibly impressed with multiple (Filet with peppercorn was 10/10....).Priced fairly for the effort that goes into sourcing quality ingredients and the effort to make the menu innovative. Go with the 4 course meal, of course.Additionally, the ownership and service has been really incredible in each of the 3 times we have visited in the past year. Highly Highly recommend visiting Bella Roma.

They were off there game tonight...I have been here several times...was going to have the veal saltimbocca, but the chief wouldnt sub the potato for pasta...had the Meatballs & fettuccini,I have had it before on the bar menu @$18 tonight it was $28 and not as good.

Had the opportunity to meet the owner and family. Wonderful folks, genuine, friendly, proud of their work and family. All this plus great food and service.

For the first time my wife and I experienced the Italian ristorante Bella Roma, this last Valentine’s Day. We had searched hard for a place to go for a great steak, and the local steakhouses didn’t have great reviews, so we opted for Bella Roma, and chose the 4 course meal for two! It was in the building of a hotel, which was a little weird for such a fancy place, but I guess that doesn’t matter.It stared with coffees and super soft focaccia bread with olive oil and vinegar to dip in. Very good! I loved that.Then our first of 4 courses was an appetizer. Mine was a fancy salad and cheese with thin raw filet minion slices. I had to think twice about the raw meat but decided to go for it. (I’m not versed in fancy food and couldn’t rename those fancy food names if my life depended on it). It was very good though! My wife had some tomato soup type thing with breadsticks.For the second course we both had salad. Hers was spinach with walnuts and blue cheese, and mine was Ceasers and came with a whole head of romaine lettuce still together! I’d never seen that before. It was okay but was my least favorite part of the meal.The third course, was of course the steak and potatoes. I got the 16oz ribeye medium rare, and my wife got the 8oz filet medium rare. Hers was more medium and mine was more rare, and it was very soft and buttery, although I would have opted for a bit more cooked, but it was still delicious. The potatoes were very good too. I was approaching critical fullness and couldn’t finish the steak if I wanted to save room for the dessert.For desert both my wife and I had the cannolis. They were very good and it took us about 30 minutes to stuff them in our tummies. I recommend the cannolis.The service was also very good, we couldn’t take two sips from our water before they were there refilling the glasses. They were very attentive and our waiter was very nice.This place was not cheap though! This dinner ended up being the most expensive dinner my wife and I had ever had in our lives, but thankfully we are blessed and can afford if for a special occasion like this, and for the first time in years we were able to dine free of our children! (Thanks to our amazing neighbors)! ❤️ love you guys!!I recommend Bella Roma for fancy occasions, they do make delicious food and have great service!

Awesome! Everything was Great. It was way better then I expected. Customer service was excellent. Great team effort. Polite friendly. Not pushy or fake. Genuine. It was a great night out celebrating my Fiances Birthday. Definitely will be going back and recommending everyone Best restaurant in Helena by far! Ohh the food was Fantastic! Blows every other place out of the water in every way possible .IMO..

Great place to eat in Helena! Had the 4 course dinner which was well worth it! Everything was amazing. My boyfriend and mom had the rib eye which they both loved. The filet mignon had a lot of pepper that I had to scrape off because it was difficult to eat. The desserts were great and so was the service.

I would travel hundreds of miles to recreate this experience! Excellent food, drinks and conversation. They made me feel like part of the family.

Conveniently located inside the Helena Doubletree on the Last Chance Gulch walking mall, this Italian restaurant features an impressive wine list. In full disclosure, I didnt dine here but the menu looked yummy. Some of my party did have desert and enjoyed it.We arrived late and the staff quickly set up a table large enough for the entire party and happily served us. The GM knows their wines well. I only wish wed listened on our first choice.We had a good experience here and I will likely find here in my next trip.

We had the 4-course meal with the wine pairing. Excellent food and good service. The only complaint was that we ate outside until dessert time. By then it got too cold so we moved to the bar for our 4th course and it seemed like our dessert had been forgotten. We eventually got it and the bartender was very affable and gracious.

It’s the only time of year I get tiramisu, hubby drove all the way there to get one for me while I watched our two year old at home. Still the best birthday treat I could ever ask for and the customer service is great. Love them forever!

I wish I’d taken more photos, because our dinner at Bella Roma was 10 stars. Never rushed, from selecting wines after sampling, to entree and salad recommendations, with perfect attention from Kevin, our waiter. We will choose this as our first every time. Thank you Davide and your team!

Reading some comments below - its an Italian establishment, eating is a part of life and is always an event. Anyone who anticipated a "quick" meal, better go to the McKenzie River for a pizza. Culturally speaking, nothing happens fast in Italy and Im glad they brought this here to Helena, sit eat, talk with the staff and make friends...Ive eat there for big occasions and the food is always great. Service is commensurate to the crowd but, I understand the operation and dont mind the wait while other patrons ask to have their meal selection adjusted - you all are entertaining. Maybe the management should describe how many of the ingredients come from Italy, so adjusting here and there cuts into projected supplies for projected meals... etc. Overall, its one of the finer dining establishments, it retains the feel of a small restaurant in the area of Italy I lived in and gives us a good break from the loud, food trough type restaurants normalized in the states.

A rather unforgivable experience today. We had made a reservation a couple of weeks ago to have dinner here, as we were planning on passing through Helena on our way to Glacier National Park and it is our anniversary.We made a reservation through Yelp, and were even asked to confirm the day before. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a piece of paper on the door saying they temporarily changed their hours and were now closed on Tuesdays.Extremely disappointing and just plain rude to not inform your customers who made reservations.At 8:00pm, it left us with very little other options and what was supposed to be a lovely night out turned into a disillusion. Very, very poor form.

The drinks were great and the dessert is amazing. As for the food, Im not entirely sure because I never received my food order. I asked if it was coming out and was told because my friend stated no food for him, the server thought that also meant no food for me even though I had already ordered. I will say the bread and oil that come prior to the meal are amazing.The server did apologize and offered to put the order in, however, I declined.Update response: I pointed to the menu item twice and with the server confirming the order. I was clear and mentioned I couldn’t wait to try the menu item because I am a big fan of fresh mozzarella. As for my friend, he was requesting alternatives to sides and seasoning.We understood you offered no variations for the exception of gluten free requests after the server made it clear. He did not order. Nothing against your restaurant or policies. Additionally there were no complaints nor warning of being loud. The server also explained the menu as we are familiar with the cuisine. At least the bread and olive oil was good.

I would give this place a 5 star for the appetizers and dessert no doubt about it. They were so good. The main course was mediocre at best. I had the veal and it was kind of dried out and not very warm. My sons chicken looked good and tasted good. My wife was not too happy about her swordfish. I would go back again for the appetizers and dessert and maybe try another entree.

First off, AMAZING staff. The atmosphere is inviting yet sophisticated. The food is beyond spectacular. Truly, everything tasted fresh, and was perfectly paired. The dessert and cappuccino was on point! If you are looking for an escape to a medditeranean villa, then you will find it here!

Excellent food, excellent staff, excellent atmosphere.Hands down the best restaurant in Helena, and one of the best in Montana. Wait times are low, food is above and beyond excellent, the staff are cordial and well trained, and the owner is very kind and hospitable. 55$ for a 4 course meal is outstanding, especially for the quality of food.10/5 if I could rate that high.Always blown away by this place’s ability to exceed my expectations.

I travel a lot, and get to sample many types of cuisine and dining experiences. This ranks among the top. Food and atmosphere are top notch, with just the right attention from friendly and courteous waitstaff. The only detractor I have is that they cleared my table while I was in the restroom, taking away the last of my wine and tiramisu. Fantastic over and highly recommend.

We had a truly exceptional dinner at Bella Roma Saturday evening. This was the best experience weve had in 3 years there. Our first experience right after the move to the current location was excellent but, very disappointing meals in 2017 and 2018 caused us to avoid Bella Roma for the last couple of years. However, after last night, they have completely redeemed themselves in our eyes. The atmosphere was warm, sophisticated and very comfortable, the food was some of the best weve had anywhere in the Northwest, and the service was simply outstanding. We will once again make this one of our regular stops and recommend you do the same if you are looking for a place to celebrate a special event.

A very sophisticated establishment with very attentive staff. The food preparation and presentation is good. We had the choose 4 option. The antipasto was very good, the salad was slightly short on dressing, the pasta was just overcooked but the class were perfect in my main course and dessert was light and very delicious. I will most definitely give it another try.

Had a lovely date night here tonight. The food was different but good. The waiter was attentive. Definitely an experience that must be savored. We were not quite prepared to spend as much time there as we did so we were a bit anxious to return to the babysitter. That being said the experience is definitely fine dining at its best. My only complaint is that, for a restaurant that is centered around spending a luxurious amount of time enjoying ones food, the chairs inside were quite uncomfortable. Painfully so. I can hope the patio chairs may have been a different story.Overall a hidden gem in the heart of helena! :)

Delicious food, tasted like something made with love from an actual kitchen...not like restaurant food at all. Not overpowering with garlic and salt, so you could actually appreciate the flavors of what you were eating! Our waiter was amazing and was right on top of things! I would absolutely recommend this place! I will definitely be eating here again!

My girlfriend and I split a four course meal. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal, although there wasnt quite as much to eat as advertised, so the two of us ended up being only mostly full.The quality of the food was good and the presentation was great. If youre going to split a four course meal and youve got an appetite, of recommend splitting a four course meal and tacking another salad on the side.

You never know where life will bring you but I am sure it brought me here. My tummy is quite happy as well.The restaurant is located at the Double Tree hotel. Dont let it being attached to a hotel deter you from visiting. Its absolutely delicious and I would happily visit again.The food is good and not just good in that theres not much else to choose from good. The chef should be very proud of his skills. Your mouth wont be able to stop from beginning to end. Each bite is a taste of fine Italian cuisine.The menu is a four course meal for $50 but you can order a la carte as well. Just do the four course meal, you wont regret it. Your waist line might not appreciate it but treat yourself.Before you start judging, I drove an hour and half so I wanted to try a little of everything. I ordered the price fixe and added a side order of burrata. I dont regret that decision for one minute. My choices include meatballs, argula with bresaola, gnocchi and lemon meringue.The meatballs would make any Italian nonna proud. They are huge but they do pack some flavor. They have a nice crust that holds in some of the most tender beefy goodness you will taste. The tomato sauce is a nice blend of heat and tang. It adds another dimension of flavor to the balls. Arugula and bresaola makes you feel happy you include some greens in your meal. Burrata comes with a fennel salad, slices of oranges and olives. It might not seem to work but each element plays on the other ingredients texture and flavor. The dish is such a delight. Meal finished with the dessert. It was airy and creamy. The tart was well made but just wished there was more lemon flavor.I didnt forget about the entree. It deserved its own space. Gnocchi most of the time is either gummy or mini potato bombs. Now, these gnocchi will leave you speechless. They are potato clouds that are fluffy and will just melt in your mouth. They just slip down your throat and help you enter potato bliss. By the way, I hope you had saved some of that fluffy foccacia to just wipe the plate clean of the sauce. Its a saffron creamy sauce that isnt as heavy as expected. It just adds to the luciousness of the dish. Arugula adds some color and lets not lie, I needed more green in this meal. Guanciale is chunky with a slight crisp and adds umami and earthiness to the dish. Try not to pick up the plate and lick it clean.Service is absolutely lovely. Your are taken care from the minute you step in. Its attentive but not over bearing. You are able to converse and enjoy an absolutely scrumptious meal.

Magnificent food, wonderful cocktails, professional staff beautiful environment, lovely murals on all the walls, gentle music. It would be a fantastic place to bring a very special date, celebrate an anniversary or treat yourself to high quality 5 star cuisine. You get a traditional Italian 4 course meal starting at $50 or can pick and choose your meal selections instead. For all that you get i firmly recommend the 4 course, we found its more value for dollar. I also highly recommend the cocktails, they were absolutely perfect. I did not try the large wine selection yet but i plan to, the menu also gives food pairing with wine suggestions, i found that to be helpful if you arent as familiar with wine like myself.

We enjoyed a delicious four course meal here and loved every bite. The desserts were amazing. The espresso was fabulous. Thats a big deal in my book-lots of bad espresso out there.They recently enhanced the interior, which is a lovely change from the austere atmosphere of past iterations.The chef clearly knows food and has a gift for interesting combinations. Helena needed this. And I love it that you can sit outside on a patio away from car traffic.Going back immediately.
