Ristorante Arlù - Italian restaurant in Vatican City, Vatican City
Best meal in Rome!Amazing “light” gnocchi, the pasta amatriciana was absolutely delicious, deserts, and so on.Don’t miss this one!
Very friendly family restaurant. Everything on the menu is homemade. It was absolutely delicious. It’s somewhat more expensive then the tourist places but more than worth it. If you’re in the neighbourhood you should consider eating here.
Best pasta Ive had in Italy yet, wow! Amazing! Must try the Amatriciana and the homemade tiramisu!
Very good and tasty and the staff is very kind. I definitely recommend.
We came expecting authentic, we got extremely tiny portions of very salty food for gourmet prices. The veal was chewy and tough, the ravioli was way too salty.
We had a delicious meal at Arlu after a long day at the Vaican. The pasta was perfect, the insalata was so fresh, vino made us smile and the tiramisus was heavenly. Friendly service made us feel at home. The interiors were soothing. Highly recommend this to anyone who is visiting Roma!! Also it was our best meal while in Italy!!!
I really liked the atmosphere and ambiente here. The service was great and the food delicious. Sadly one portion wasnt enough for me and therefore I have to complain that the price tag doesnt fit well with the portion size. I get that its better quality but still to small of a portion for me .
Had their octopus with potato purée as starter and prawn pesto pasta. Both were delish!! The prawn was minced and the flavour was hard to distinguish but with the pesto broth to compliment it- amazing!Shout out to the multi-lingual server, thank you for your friendly service!
Service very nice and polite, meals are wonderful, beautiful and tasty
Very good food, extraordinary service - but portions too small. Got the free coffee and a bottle of sparkling wather. :)
Slow service, and very salty food.I ordered the salmon antipasti which was super salty, but the tuna tartare with blueberries was very nice and refreshing. Presentation was great.I also got pasta with pesto and red shrimp. The pasta was cooked perfectly aldente, but there was very little shrimp that was puréed, and the green sauce was also salty.
Let me start with the flavor here. It has no flavor. IT HAS ALL THE FLAVOR! Get the Carbonara, then pray it doesn’t ruin you for every other Carbonara. I saw God in my bowl. I turned my life around as a result of this dish.
This family ristorante provides Excellent service and exceptional food. We had pasta, sea food (octopus was really tasty, softand homemade tiramisu. The price isadequate to the prices in the historic part of Rome.
The food is great for sure, but I am quite qm the service speed. It took us 30 minutes to finish our meal but another 40 minutes to get the attention of a waitress and get our bill paid. Turns out all we needed is someone to bring a POS so I can place my card onto it and, beep, be done in 30 seconds. But it took 40 minutes.
The best meal we had in Rome, carbonara great, nhoque great, the best burrata strattiacella appetizer with anchovies that I ever had, great staff great food.Love it
We go to Arlu every time in Rome. The two sisters (one of them the cookand the father are a truly nice family, always offering some extras to our son whos a big fan of their carbonara, voted the 3d best in Rome. The burrata if a feast. And the desserts are really inventive.
The restaurant was amazing! The carbonara sauce was smooth, and surprisingly light! The saltimbocca had wonderfully complex flavours, and we tried the special pasta of the day (beef, mushroom, and truffle ravioli. The pasta texture is chewy, truly Italian! Finally, Valentina was a fantastic waitress :).Would come back in a heartbeat!
Fantastic, Mohamed und Cristian gave great service and the dishes were extraordinary!
Very friendly staff. We ordered the Carbonara, amatriciana, and eggplant parmigianna. All were really delicious. Only thing is that their Guanciale is very salty and our two main pasta dishes use Guanciale and it made the dish just a little bit salty.
Our food was fantastic. The special of the day - Ravioli mushrooms with shaved Porcini on top was mouth watering. The potato gnocchi with Bolognese did not disappoint. The white house wine from Abruzzo was a big hit. The wait staff and owners were very friendly.
Wonderful food and service, a quick walk from the Vatican. Highly recommend the eggplant starter but all the dishes we tried were very good.
Another recommendation located near Vatican City. Excellent family run biz with 7 star service. Gnocchi with meat sauce and a pesto ziti were just a couple stars for the table. Dont miss this place. Mohammed is the best server in all of Italy 🇮🇹
It was a great experience. This place was a recommendation by our friend and we were so happy to try it ourselves. Amazing food, great service, welcoming staff, and perfect location next to vatican Square. Frederica helped us in our order and recommendation of food and drinks. She was very friendly. This restaurant is Highly recommended and would come back again to it when I visit vatican City.
Incredibly racist staff, horrible humiliating experience. I came with guests from abroad to show them Italian culture and they are clearly not white. We were sat at the back next to the bathroom behind a wall, even though there were plenty of tables that were NOT reserved as I kept checking throughout our entire meal if the restaurant would get full by the time we were done. They treated my guests as staff by making them bring things for them and were completely demeaning and did not read the stiffness and uncomfortableness my guests exhibited. This is an extremely unprofessional restaurant, the pasta wasn’t even that good it’s very basic and incredibly overpriced for the quality and quantity, I’ve had better pasta just down the street. I came in looking for a good experience to show friends from abroad but was quickly embarrassed and humiliated. Will never bring friends or come myself here again. Shame on you.
Like the place, eat there for many years. The food is always good.
Unbelievable. Truly just a breathtaking experience. If you’re in the Vatican area, this is the place to eat like a local. Get a bottle of Cesanese wine as it is becoming a rarity.
We loved the food. This is a small family restaurant, so they take some pride over the food and have a good sense of humour when something goes out of plan - like in one of the dishes for our care. Tiramisu especially is to die for. Thanks 🙏
Would highly recommend eating here. Cannot say enough about the food, service, and atmosphere.
My friends and I were very happy to find this gem of a restaurant near the St Peters Basilica in Rome. I was worried it would taste just like another touristy restaurant but it was absolutely excellent! We were all very happy with the food and service we received. Would recommend the seafood and the cheese platter. :)
The restaurant was nice and clean and the staff were friendly but my bread was served to me in a paper bag. Other guests had it presented on a plate, it was weird but at least the focaccia was good. My Saltimbocca took forever and came looking very unappetizing, it was a thin gray slice of beef with a slice of ham on top. Also it was served with unsalted crisps/chips! Very unsatisfying and over priced!!!
This was the best meal we had in Rome by far. This place goes above and beyond. The service was excellent as well as the food and atmosphere. There are so many “good” restaurants in Rome but if you want a truly exceptional experience, come here!
This place was close to our Airbnb and I absolutely loved the food. We ate here twice, ordering the Carbonara each time. Service was great.
I recommend all these plates!!!it was an excellent experience this restaurant ❤️must try the crispy tuna ,like no other 👌👌👌but everything was amazing ❤️
Absolutely incredible, high quality, authentic food. I ate the burrata appetizer, the amatriciana and the chocolate (mouse with cake layersand they were absolutely delightful. The best food in Roma. Wait staff is so kind and helpful. The location is absolutely perfect when you are near the Vatican.Highly recommended! Prices also fantastic. Molto buono. Buonissimo!
We had a late lunch before braving queues to the Basilica and it was delicious! I particularly enjoyed the tomatoes on my pasta dish, tastiest morcel Ive had on my trip!
Im sad to say that it was disappointing. I would give it a 3.5 if I could. The reviews were so good and the interior is clean and tidy. The presentation of the dishes is beautiful, but the taste was rather average. Starter burrata was creamy but heavy and not complex in flavor, the tomatoes served with it were tasteless and watery (Dutch style). I would have loved to see either cherry tomatoes or rich Roma tomatoes with it. The carbonara was heavy and the guanciale was overfried, super dry. Overall a bit overwhelming, the same for the cacio e Pepe. Tiramisu was decent though :)
We were looking for a good restaurant, near St. Peters Cathedral to eat a good Roman pasta, and we chose this one based on the reviews. It was a rainy and cold day and the owner insisted that we stay outside, claiming that they had the entire room reserved starting at 19:00 (it was 18:30and ended up accepting after our insistence, we left at 20:30 and the room was always empty although everyone customers who arrived later have sat outside. With the meals, we were not impressed, the folders were too simple, not to end up on the negative note, we liked the tiramissu. In the end, the price was wrong and they charged 10 euros for two limoncellos although the menu was 3 euros each, the value is meaningless but the attitude ...
A very nice place to have dinner in this neighbourhood. The spaghetti cacio e pepe were good, and the starter which was squid cooked a la plancha on, if I remember correctly, a bed of saffron-infused polenta, was delicious.
One of the best restaurants in Rome! They are not afraid of remaking the wheel. We could eat here everyday!
We found this place after the tour in Vatican. It is a lovely restaurant, different from others in the area. It has a style and it is a nice connection of modern and traditional cooking. The restaurant has a lovely terrace but since it was a very hot day, we sat inside. The interior of the restaurant is really nice and stylish. The food there is just excellent, so tasty and beautifully served, all home-made. After the lunch we also had an excellent coffee. The whole experience there was accompanied by excellent service. The waitresses there were so kind and helpful!
Fantastic family owned restaurant! The staff were so accommodating and made us feel welcome. The Carbonara was delicious and the house wine was perfect. We will definitely be back again and will save room next time for the homemade Tiramisu. They brought us delicious chocolates at the end and even a special heart one just for my picture!
This restaurant will offer a great environment, service and food. The service was specially good; the daughter of the owner is member of the staff and she is wonderful, service can’t be better. All the classics taste great, ingredients are high quality.
Food is acceptable yet the risotto is way too salty. After the “first” ,the waitress asked me if I would like to have anything else and I said no. Then she actively gave me the bills as if urging me to settle the bills. Having spent 7 days in Italy and it’s my first time to encounter this.
Absolutely amazing. One of the best food experiences in Rome. The octopus was spectacular, tender and delicious. And the pasta was stellar - carbonara and tomarelli were the best pasta we had all trip
Really great food and good service. We were turned away for an inside table the first night, but easily got a table for the next night. Excellent choice. Gnocchi, ravioli with squid, lasagna all excellent. Everything I saw looked good.
Best meal in Rome! Everything about this restaurant was amazing. When you walk in it is a tiny space with limited seating. Reservations are highly recommended. My husband ordered the ravioli and I had the beef. Both dishes are delicious and portions were suitable for a multi course meal.
Beautiful restaurant, food was ok (except for one dish: seafood risottobut serving size was quite small (see photos). Friendly service. Fairly expensive dinner overall.
The little restaurant after put tour of the Vatican was very nice. All the dishes were tasty and prepared with very fresh ingredients. Family owned, the service was ok, not amazing, but did not deter from the lunch. Overall we were very happy with the food and experience at Arlù.
The tomato and egg plant tagliolini tasted a bit bland, carbonara just so salty. What actually irritated us was how we got our table. Booked well in advance, still need to wait in line because the place is very small with less than 10 tables. Think they have accepted far more reservations than what they can cater for. We arrived with nobody waiting in line. We were 10 min earlier so were told our table was not ready unless we wanted to sit outdoor. It was so hot so we opted to sit inside and agreed to wait. Lateron, three ladies came without a reservation and were told to wait. We asked again 20 min later if our table is ready because we saw people leaving. At the same time another family of four with a reservation at the same time as we came. Another 15 min passed by, the three ladies were given a table the first followed by the family of four. We had to wait another 5min before we got our table. It is not FAIR at all though we have complained but they just ignored our grievances, maybe because we are Asain tourists and that is the treatment we got, huh... Overall experience is so so, won’t recommend it at all!
The food is very good without a doubt. The portions though are medium at best. We had to wait 20-25 min for a table for 2. We ordered a pizza, lasagna and pasta. We saw bread on most tables. We were asked if we would like some bread with our meal. We agreed, only to be charged $4 for it. For the price you pay for the meals, a piece of bread should be included. 40 euros for a meal for two with no drinks.
