Ristorante Antica Besseta - Diner in Venice, Italy
Excellent !
Food wasnt the best, in my opinion. All the dishes I ordered lacked in salt. The main waiter (older gentlemanwasnt very friendly. He got upset that I asked to substitute the artichoke for potatoes in my branzino dish, so he ended up only bringing the potatoes with no fish at all. The lady waitress had to fix his mistake and ran to the kitchen to make sure they would prepare it really fast. The bill was very high, especially for the quality of food and service. The service fee, which is normal in Italy, was astronomical in this restaurant!!! They charged us β¬5 per person!! While it usually runs around 3β¬. And this type of service was definitely not worth all of that money.. they didnt even take any money off to apologize for the mistake they made. I definitely would not recommend this place. There are hundreds of better restaurants in Venice that dont overcharge you and definitely treat you better than this. Go to "IL PISANINO" instead, that was a whole great experience with a beautiful view.
Just phenomenal. We were in Padua & Venice for a week. This place had the among the best food and definitely the best atmosphere of anywhere we went. We ended up ordering twice as many dishes as weβd planned on! The staff barely spoke English, but were warm & friendly and very patient with us.A nice bonus: this was easily the fastest service of anywhere we ate. No waiting around wondering where dishes were or to order the next course.
Far from the usual walken paths, an authentic gem of local cuisine! The decor gives a glimpse into the past! Best sea clams antipasto we ever tried!
Very good food and the friendliest waiter who makes very good recommendation. It was very nice to sit outside and the dessert was heavenly and the cerry on top for me. I read that some feel that the prices are to high but we paid about the same as with the one we were at yesterday but it was way better.
It was the best food I had my entire stay in Italy. Four days in Venice and two in Rome.
Tasty food, good service, so cute and cosy
Very tasty food but you need to take the 3 courses as the portions are a bit small ! The boss is really friendly and funny too π Fish based food no pizza here π
SPLENDID FOOD, WARM SERVICE AND COZY LOCATION
I should have read more reviews before I made the mistake to dine here. Portions were tiny and very expensive. Spaghetti vongole was undercooked (!). I like al dente but this was simply undercooked - how can you screw up such a simple dish? We also were recommended a seafood soup as a main but the portion was tiny, and this cost 18 euros. Total waste of money. Please avoid this place.
Wonderful
Very nice restaurant and good food.
The chefs course was amazing. With a starter, main, and dessert for β¬40 thats hard to beat. Our waiter was great with English while we tried to stumble through practicing Italian. The food was a great mix of seafood and traditional Italian pastas. Id recommend this place to all my friends. Its a great introduction to Venice cuisine!P.S. we also met tigre the local celebrity cat. Shell ask you for da fishy
Fantastic experience! Claudio was an amazing host and the food was out of this world!
During my week in venice this was definitely my favourite restaurant the service is friendly and the food is amazing
At first we got a glass with lipstick strains. When we told the server in a friendly way that the latte macchiato was way too hot and tasted like waiter the server began to scream at us without even trying to find a solution.DONT EVER COME HERE, GUYS!
Lovely food. Im a vegetarian and the chef made me vegetable pasta it was beautiful. Get the homemade cheese too.
Small portions, limited menu
Good portion sizes (not overwhelming). Pleasant service.
Not good.
Old school trattoria not spoilt by tourist lowering standards
Lovely combination of excellent food and traditional, friendly atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and plan on returning when we are visiting Venice in May.
Excellent cooking and friendly service. Local tasting menu was perfection!
This restaurant is a fantastic place to eat in Venice. We stayed for a week enjoying everything the city had to offer and eating at a lot of different places. We enjoyed this place so much we had to go back for a second meal, even though we usually love to try different places because of our FOMO. Donβt miss out! Eat here at least once. Antipasti is exceptional and good size, pasta exceptional and authentic, secondi varied compared with a lof of other places and cooked to perfection. Thank you! Wow, I nearly forgot the wine list. Indulge, itβs a corker.
Great little place!
Didnt eat but had drinks. Nice wee spot to sit and relax and watch the world go by
Waiter was very friendly the coffee was excellant
Was brought here by locals for dinner. A must on your visit. Buratto was delicious and Veal cheeks as well
Amazing restaurant! Great food and atmosphere! Best food and experience we had in Venice.
Apart from the water being very expensive its a real gem. The waiters are very friendly and accommodating. The food is top class. All set in a very rustic setting. Wish more places in Italy was like this.
Great food. Lots of seafood. Fresh pasta and fresh bread. Very friendly staff. Main waiter speaks multiple languages. The cheese appetizer was really great. Good atmosphere.
A charming spot with even more charming people. Staff was kind and helpful, and the food was delicious. Highlights included the gnocchi with sweet onions and the celery sorbet. Only wish we found it sooner so we could return...
Unique dishes! Be adventurous when here. Also, have the lemon sorbet palate cleanser!!!
Good food, small portions, moderate prices.
Steer clear. The service was terrible. The waiter was grumpy and threw the bread on the table. He also sloshed wife into our glasses (literally splashed over the edge of the glass!). He was visibly irritable and cracked my husbands water glass because he was so careless as he moved things around on the table. Food portions also smaller than others in Venice. Check that youre happy with the lunch menu before you commit.
Amazing meal, service was exceptional.
This was are favourite place to drink and dine in Venice. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were very friendly and kind. Drinks and food were exceptional. Would definitely come here again. Recommended if you want a genuine Venetian experience.
Truly one of a kind experience in Venice. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for an upscale dining experience in Venice. Its a bit away from the crux of the touristy areas, thus creating a perfectly serene ambience. The star of the show is the food and I will not spoil anything for you, but I will say the quality is at the very top, with minimal company, of what weve had in on our trip.
God bless the chef for preparing me the squid ink pasta. I nearly cried.
Our lovely little hotel staff sent us here on our last night far away from crowds. Excellent Trattoria, creative Seafood, lovely staff. A wonderful way to say goodbye to Venice
Lovely neighborhood restaurant! Slightly more expensive, but very high quality food. I had the chefs tasting menu and it was delicious. The staff is very friendly, even if you dont speak Italian.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Staff was top. We tried chefs choice.
One of the best restaurant of my life !!! Perfect service and fresh and homemade products !
octopus was great and the turbo was also a good choiceSeabass was very average
Food was delicious, in particular the risotto was incredible. We had the celery/potato version and it was perfectly cooked. Prices are a tad high but I think thats the norm for the area. Server incorrectly split our check so one party ended up paying for most of the meal. He gave us each a "gift" to make amends. Annoying, but I think it was an honest mistake.
The Antica Besseta is one of the oldest Venetian trattorias situated just a few minutes from Rialto, Piazzale Roma and the Santa Lucia Station in the neighbourhood of the beautiful churches of San Giacomo dellOrio and San Simeon Piccolo. Tucked away from the most trodden routes, our trattoria is one of the favourite places of the Venetians especially given that it is flanked by the now famous Salizada de CΓ Zusto, the narrowest alley (Callein Venice γγγGreat γη΄ ζ΄γγγγεΊ γγγ
Our first night in Venice and the food was good. Not mind blowingly good but a good introduction for novices like us. The staff however were very friendly and helped add to a pleasant night in Venice.
One of the most amazing restaurant experiences of my life. Wait staff and Chefs are upper echelon. Try the 6 course chef choice! You will not be disappointed!!!
In the hit or miss of Venetian dining, this is another miss. Seafood was not fresh and waiters were just OK. Was hoping for great seafood and we didnt find it here. But we found it the next day at Busa alle Torre on Murano.
Food and atmosphere was great, seafood starter excellent. Quiet enjoyable will definitely go back
