Gefira Charilaos Trikoupis, Greece, Pyrgos
Cable-stayed road bridge with pedestrian sidewalks over the Gulf of Corinth.
SCAM….overhyped and we paid 14 euros toll for no reasonThere is no place to park and click picturesAVOID IT if you are visiting after seeing ‘things to do in Patras’
Very nice trip
I rode it today on my bike and didn’t even realise it’s such a masterpiece. Highly recommended.
Amazing Bridge but you must pay tolls
Beautiful structure and essential for western Greece
A world class bridge. Great to ride across on the wide footpaths on each side of the bridge. Free for cyclists.
We crossed bellow windsailing at 18/20 knts from East to West staying below the yellow mark and leaving the first pillar at our right side.We didnt feel much current.2022, five years later, all the same but no wind at all
Amazing
nice place for a little break. great view of the bridge. crossed to Patras by ferry. costs half the toll on the bridge
We booked hotel so we could see the bridge in night and we were so disappointed because the lights were off.
13,70 euros to go over. No sign when you go first over the bridge for the amount. Total 27,40 euro for crossing the bridge to go back again
Amazing architecture! There is a toll - 13.5 euro. But crossing it is a delight!
Such an impressive construction!!! Worth a walk. We went till the mid.
Its a must but 13 Euros to cross it seems a bit expensive.
Gorgeous bridge. If youre going to Athens and then Kyllini to take the ferry this is an obligatory stop. Huge architectural masterpiece
Nice bridge. 13.80 € a bit costly…Was impressive to see.
Great bridge! But not very bike friendly!
Amazing bridge!Very beautiful! If you drive car over bridge this pay 13,7 €.But if you walk in ferries without car that is pay nothing.
As a traveler from Athens to Corfu and back I highly find the experience of your bridge quite disrespectful to the needs and wants of the travelers. For our trip Athens -Corfu we were looking a way to go up to the bridge and after 2 failed attempts we made it. Theres no sign and if theres it fails pointing the direction to the bridge. Now, from Corfu to Athens we wanted to go back with the ferry boat. Alas! There was no street sign pointing, again, "Port" or "Bridge". The road leads directly to the bridge, without any prior notice.Shame on you for not paying respect to us, the travelers. And we were not the only ones. We have the options and you dont give us directions.I see no modern bridge here!
A beautiful bridge with wonderful views though very expensive and is cheaper to take the ferry to cross over
Nice but expensive €13,70 for a two minute drive
Very nicely decorated tavern with an excellent daily offer of local specialties. The owner is very kind, friendly and helpful.
Rio-Antirio bridge is a spectacular bridge spanning the Corinth gulf at its western end, just by the city of Patras.Four enormous Delta shaped pillars holding massive cables connect the Peloponnese with mainland Greece and it was built just before the 2004 Olympics in Athens. However, crossing the bridge is very expensive - 13,50 Euros for a minute-two drive. Therefore, for all those not in a hurry (and why should you be on your vacationI suggest taking the ferry instead. Theyre just beneath the bridge in both towns - Rio and Antirio, depart every 20-30 min. The journey is around 20 min and costs double cheaper - 6,50 Euros for the car with all passengers included.Views from the ferry are much better than those from the bridge itself
A very scenic way to get into/ out of Patras. Can be seen from a distance. Car price is €13.70
Very nice bridge, worth the cost
Very impressive construction. A drive that takes your breath away.
I travel with the ferry and the panoramic view it is beutiful
The Rio–Antirrio Bridge (Greek: Γέφυρα Ρίου–Αντιρρίου), officially the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge, is one of the worlds longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and longest of the fully suspended type. It crosses the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, linking the town of Rio on the Peloponnese peninsula to Antirrio on mainland Greece by road. It opened one day before the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics, on 12 August 2004, and was used to transport the Olympic flame.
Spectacular bridge 🌉 the most beautiful one in Greece. Toll tax is 13.5 euro.
The engineering difficulty of this -well over 2km- bridge is what catches me the most. Significant seismic activity, depths that exceed 60m and high speed winds were only some of the problems that had to be addressed by the engineers making the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge.Ultimately, it opened for the public just before the Olympic Games of 2004.
Wonderful view across the ocean as you walk over the bridge, nice cool breeze on your face on a hot humid day.
Most beautiful bridge i have ever seen!
Still as beautiful and awe-inspiring no matter how many times I see it. Cant resist taking photos!
Beautifully designed bridge. Very expensive though. Be interested on how they came to this figure and how detrimental it is for local businesses to transport their goods. Seen the same thing in the UK where businesses were crippled for because no on the wrong side of the bridge.
It is a really modern bridge with elegant lines! It reminds of a slim sail boat. The cost to cross the bridge is 13. 50euros and you can ask the return card to pay less if you do a return ticket (you do not pay within 3 hours, but if you want to cross by a ferry boat it will cost 6.5euros and you can enjoy even in a better way the bridge from close. The trip is about 15 minutes. During the week end from 21.00 till 00.00 it is lit in a blue colour, a scenery that you really dont want to miss. Maybe getting a coffee in the bars underneath.

A really amazing piece of architectural design located in Greece. Rather for selfies or just to have a scenic ride over the water this bridge is really good for making design and function seamlessly blend together.
The Bridge of Rio - Antirrio or, officially, the "Charilaos Trikoupis" Bridge is a cabled bridge that was completed and came into operation in 2004 between Rio (suburb of Patrasand Antirrio, connecting the Peloponnese with the western mainland Greece and up and more broadly with the rest of Europe. It is part of the Ionian Road (A5and the European Road 55 (E55and was built by the French company Vinci.
A modern wonder and a sight to behold! This bridge looks amazing!
A beautiful bridge that joins Peloponese to Aitoloakarnania region. Very nice seen lit at night. Quite costly to cross.

One of them was Otto Rehhagel, the German football coach who won the Euro 2004 Championships for Greece. Another was Costas Laliotis, the former Minister of Public Works during whose term the project had begun.
Amazing bridge, you must to pay 13 euro to cross it with car.
The bridge itself 5⭐️ any time , even in horrible weather, so we couldn’t see anything....... but only 1⭐️ because it costs you €13.50 to cross it , which is a bit crazy in my opinion.
Beautiful and most useful bridge over the Gulf of Corinth. Costs 13.5 Euro to pass (one direction).
Very cool bridge. It is actually possible and allowed to walk across using the sidewalks(sometimes one or the other side may be closed. Then cross using the stairs over the toll plaza or under the bridge on Rio side. and dont miss the small exhibition in the custom centerTakes about an hour and half to walk and then to the ferry to go back ( free of charge on foot, runs every 20 or 30 min amazing experience and views , easy to find parking around in the harbour on either side.
The Rion-Antirion Bridge across the Ionic Sea in Greece is more than 2 km long, longer than the Golden Gate in the US. It connects the 2 old strategic defense towns Rion on one side and Antirion on the other side. The bridge is built on only 4 pilons, plus metal strings and cords, so that its flexibility and strength adapts to the rift movements under the sea (very active in earthquakes). There is a tax which is not cheap (65 eur for a bus), but you can also just take a photo and then....take the ferry :)
Rio-Antirrio Bridge, officially the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge, is a force to be reckoned with. It is one of the biggest cable-stayed bridges of the world, and it links Rio to Antirrio as its title might proclaim. It was built on August of 2004 under huge celebrations. Before that, people used to cross the sea via ferry boats, which was a really slow and exchausting process as the wait could reach over 2 hours at times. Now, thanks to the huge bridge, people can easily cross the sea in a short period of time, while enjoying the view from above. Toll might be a bit expensive, but its definitely worth the cost.
This is one of the worlds longest multi-span cable stayed bridge. Total lenght is 2880 m, height 164 m.
Nice bridge! To cross the bridge costs 13.30 euro for a car
Beautiful bridge, but the toll is over 13€. By comparison, ferry is 6€
