Interesting place! Great music outside by The Georges. Husbands enjoyed the car show outside
So much fun with friendly bar tenders . Outside seating is smoke free atmosphere with stage and fun entertainment . Drinks are plentiful and mixed with love . So much history here you must see for your self! VISIT RILEYS TAVERN TODAY!
Great atmosphere! Fun place!
Had a quick stop for an adult beverage.👍
Bo Porters pickers circle was amazing! Love the place!
A great old bar. Just feels like Texas
What a fun, authentic tavern!! Good drinks and good food!
Great music, clean establishment, parking lot was ok. A little hot in there but people were enjoying playing pool , dancing, and the prices were ok.
Classic Texas Honky Tonk/Road house! Just what you want it to be!
It was fun. New to this area, cool music, great drinks! Will be back🤗
Great part of Texas history to visit and take a load off. The bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable.
Fun place, cold beer and good music. Great Bar Tender. Loved the classic country. Great Nachos at a great price.
Cool old juke joint. Its truly old school, down to the "smoke em if you got em" tobacco policy. The patio is a good place to see a show and soak up a little history.
My grandson an his band was playing there. A_Ok.Lots of fun
Best times are shared in an old bar with an old friend. You cant go wrong by stopping in to Rileys tavern step back into the good old days❤️ Thank you for keeping it true to its original roots
Meh. Service was so so. Is more of a regular place. Not drying to be bffs with the owners just wanted a drink. Im sure the concerts are better....I would hope. The guitar man that advertised for them way better than the place. Ill try again but this was the 4tg time to be in. If you dont know the bartender its not really great.
Great atmosphere. You can tell its got a lot of history. Staff was awesome.
This is a real country bar. Lots of locals. Pool tables. Outside tables. Definately worth the drive
Super cool place. We always go to hear the live music! This time we were there to see John Arthur Martinez! He’s great!
ComparedFrom 3 yrs ago. Alot better atomsphere. New bar staff and they do a great job...and recognize the locals and very attentive..owners also recognize the locals and go above and beyond to come say hello to everyone...awesome pub. Historical landmark.must go so...live music as well and have events ...
Neat atmosphere and friendly people! Good drinks!
Loved the ambience. Very surprised by the fact that smoking and or vaping is allowed indoors. Very old thinking. Not healthy for me or for others that are non smokers. Yes an outdoor area is available.
My friends and I used to go here all the time. We have had some great times at Rileys tavern but when we walked in this time we couldnt even stand to be in there longer than a second because it was so smokey. Cigarettes are bad 😔
Another stop on the great dive bar tour! Love these places
Definitely a cool place to check out very good vibes great services and good pool tables
This is a great historical landmark worth checking out. Its a local bar no doubt. Its a great place to enjoy live music, good drinks, and a great backyard to chill and have those amazing long conversations. Grab some friends, get out there.....have some drinks, dance and have a fantastic time.
Had a great time at Rileys! Adam Brannon filling in at a gig with Tina Jackson Band. It was my first time at the establishment.Loved all the history, and the feel good vibes. Thanks to the awsome bartender who kept me well hydrated!!! Looking forward to going to Rileys Tavern again!!!
I love this place ❣Live music family atmosphere and a peice of music history hidden on a back road off hwy 35 in New BraunfelsA must see and enjoy ❣
Unfortunately I havent been there for about 50 years. Going out to Hunter to Rileys for a beer and some pool was the thing to do. In the late 1960s and early 1970s Hayes County was dry. Lots of students from Texas State University (Southwest Texas Statefound their way to Rileys! Live long and prosper!!
Best dive bar around. Always great music and staff!Update.. November 2021...was charged 17 for a frozen pizza I get at my new awesome hangout the Palms Lounge for 7 then charged 11 for a surcharge! It was dead and still have the same obnoxious locals. Thought it would change after 8 months but its only gotten worse. Wont waste my money going there again.
This venue is rustic and the outdoor seating is nice and intimate. The voodoo ranger I ordered on draught was skunky and old tasting. There is no toilet for men just urinals so I had to leave an hour after arriving to find a restroom unfortunately. Would only return if there was an artist playing I just had to see.
Rileys is the quintessential dive bar. They dont get any better. With claims of being the first open tavern after prohibition, it is an establishment. Live music, fabulous bartenders, pool tables, outhouses(with plumbingand a parking lot full of pick up trucks...This is a must visit location. Belly up to the bar...
Historically a hunters hangout, but now a live venue with both an indoor and outdoor stage.
This place is a hole in the wall best drinks great people good music and a place to relax to have a great time.
Fun spot with a Texas country feel. I love that it is the first bar to open after prohibition laws were lifted. There is a stage for bands along with some room to dance. There is a nice outdoor seating area. The bathrooms were decent and are placed out in the back patio. We had a fun time. Great place to experience Texas country charm.
Went here yesterday. Bar tender brie was super friendly and a pleasure to be around. Quick service and fun conversation. Love this place and the old school feel.
Oldest liquor license in Comal County, in the State of Texas, even! Sweet old school, dive bar vibe with authentic venerable decor. Decent spirits selection. Smoking... so, not cool. But the place has been there since 1933. As good as it gets. Cheap. Fun. Food folks. Solid staff.
First bar in Texas to open after prohibition, making it the oldest. A hidden gem not many will venture out for, but those that know are happy to be there.
Always a great hang! Joel, Angie and crew have kept this place as a great testament to great tunes, great times and great drinks. They now have a food menu and the nachos are a thing of beauty.
Old time dive bar. You can hear some great music here. Shame the acoustics and mix is not good. Easy enough to walk around until you find a decent spot, but the singers vocals were too quiet the entire night. Good deals on beer. Their kitchen is permanently closed, so ignore all the pics and reviews of food. Just booze, music, and old-school outhouses.
I visited Rileys on a late weekend night with my aunt and it wasnt crowded, had live music and Sweet N Spicy nachos. Id say this place is rundown but cozy with a laid back vibe any drunk could appreciate lol the bartender seemed unwelcoming and fed up but I definitely dont blame her...😆
This is a historical place. Its the first bar in Texas. They have live music just about everyday. The have an outhouse like restroom, and have seating outside too. Its a cool place to be if your in your 30s and up. Ive been coming here for years. Its nice to come here and just be, and not have to be mainstream anything. Come for the music, or come for the drinks just cmon and have a good time.
Love the longest operating bar in Texas, always a great time, doesnt matter if its a lazy Saturday afternoon, or there for some great music. Its hard to beat a cold drink at the bar or under the oak trees. If you havent been please check it out.
My first Texas music experience. I am not at all a country music girl but the band the evening we went may have turned me onto country. The staff was friendly and prices were great! Nice patio area too.
A fun little honky tonk off the beaten path. This place looks like a beer commercial in the right way. Full bar and a nice outdoor area
Do not miss this tavern while in the area , live music, a lot of history and soul. Very unique!
Stopped in here for Mondays open mic, and had a blast. Great bartenders. Everyone was super nice too :)
Very old eclectic locals bar with great cocktails and free popcorn big backyard patio and music stage
Old Tavern atmosphere, live music, good drinks friendly people. First tavern to get a license after the probationary period, and historical and still running. Great folks, great staff, fun. I came across Rileys Tavern when just out riding my motorcycle about 6 yrs ago. Hope to make it out here again when I visit my brother as well. I dont think any new comer will be disappointed coming here.
It has great prices, very good employees who actually care about what you want. Overall great place to just relax and unwind.
