Ricky's All Day Grill - Nanaimo South-In the Days Inn in Nanaimo

TERRIBLE SERVICE and RACIST establishment for the second time in a row. We went on Oct 2nd morning around 1030 the lady that’s greeted us was very nice and was not the problem. Our server was very cranky and not welcoming at all we sat down. She threw the menus on the tables didn’t ask us how we were doing or anything, then me and my gf ordered a coffee and water. She left to take payment at another table then seat and greet another and then FORGOT THE TWO THINGS WE HAD ORDERED. She came back got way too close to both of us and was in our face and asked us again what it was that we ordered, again a coffee and water. Left and went to another table and started chatting with them all nice and asking how they are doing as we haven’t been asked once yet (this happened at all the other tables talked very nicely to them laughing etc. except us, difference was we are two coloured people and all other tables were white). Finally drinks come to the table she puts down two waters (we had ordered a coffee and water not two waters), coffee doesn’t make it to the table and doesn’t ask us if we are ready to order but continues to other tables. The restaurant was not busy as well at this time. To the owners of this establishment you should be ashamed of your selfs allowing servers to treat people like this in todays day and age this is absolutely unacceptable and this will be reported to the better business bureau because this was unacceptable.DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT WITH RACIST SERVERS!

25 minutes for them too take our drink order wound up being 45 min total to get drinks another 20 minutes to get a cup of not yesterdays coffee and and another 20 mins for nachos and 16 year old serving booze and gross disgusting tables and only 4 tables

Great breakfasts but the hollandaise sauce needs improvement.

Fast service. Waitress was very friendly. Food was hot and good.

Good food at a good price. Had the Liver and Onions for dinner. Back the next morning for a Chaffle breakfast. No sure why is Ch? Could be cheese?But it was a yummy egg waffle with veggies and bacon mixed in. A salsa that was yummy. GF and Keto friendly.

The best coffee. Also they make hashbrowns the way its supposed to be.

Waited so long (over one hourfor our order only to find that the food hadnt even been started yet. Saw a few other parties leaving as well with no food. Washroom was nice though. Handsoap smelled delicious.

DON’T BOTHER! The worst experience ever. We went here for breakfast today and got our order taken around 10ish. Server dropped off the water and coffee but we never got any water or coffee refill. Waited almost entire hour for our order. The same order taker/server came to our table to confirm our order after an hour. THEY HADN’T EVEN STARTED OUR ORDER OR ENTERED IT INTO THE SYSTEM!!! It seems like a lot of people left at the same time as us and skip the dishes were also being messed up! NEVER GOING BACK!!

NEVER GOING BACK. Waited for an hour for our order and then the server informed us that there was a mess up in the kitchen. She confirmed our order then saw her go to enter the order after an hour of wait. They hadn’t even entered our order. She came back to tell us that she is going to enter the order again in the system but wanted to confirm with us if we wanted to wait. Ww asked her to cancel it altogether and she said “I thought you may say that”. Please chose some other place for you food needs.

Got breakfast takeout. I appreciate they are busy but they forgot the stuffed hash browns and toast. The food we did get was okay. Called back to ask about it and they just take the phone off the hook. Never going back.

I tried to order take out but was declined. I was told that due to people ordering and not picking up in the past, I needed to physically go there to order my take out and wait. I told the employee that I was literally in my car about to drive there but no exemption was made to their ridiculous policy. You turned your “you problem” into a “me problem”, which cost you a bad review and a customer, which makes it a “you problem”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The best salads of the franchise. Large and fresh ingredients.

Forgot some of the food, poutine and gravy not up to par and service pretty poor

Tried the philly cheesesteak it was good and the au jus on the side was an interesting touch to the dish. The fries were awesome and crispy but a tad under seasoned. Nice views and can see the water quite well.

Clean, all day breakfast and great service. Will definitely be back!

I had the big burger, could hardly finish it. My friend had the lasagna, says it is the best in town..

They have a very good stake dinner but I do think the stake could be bigger as in wider and at least a inch think like a ribeye steak

The food at Rickys All Day Grill inside the Day Inn Wyndham hotel was great and amazing. They were very nice and welcoming guests. I ordered original burger sandwiche with tossed salad. Food was very delicious and yummy. I would definitely recommend to go and enjoy the food. Also, great ocean view inside the restaurant.

Good quality has gone down hill badly. Used to be a decent spot for burger but now grease city, old wilty salad etc. Went there April 14, 2022 and Had the fish and chips, should have been called batter and chips it was greasy and horrible. Salad had limp grey slices of carrots on top of it. Wont be going back.

service is so incredibly slow, 1 server for 3 tables but it took an hour and a half to get anything. we ordered crispy bacon and it came out uncooked, hair in the food and the server tried telling us it was fluff… comped the food with hair in it but charged me for cold fries and uncooked bacon. will not be returning.

Great service. Only place in the hotel to eat, thank God it tastes good!

Service was amazing. Was trying to make a ferry and the Head cook and Hostas where very understanding and food was ready in record time.

Mother had fish and chips and liked it. I had the lasagna. Clearly heated in microwave then tossed into a salamander to brown. Edges were hot the center cold.

Only reason it gets 2 stars is the waitresses were spot on the food is horrible and the portions are miniscule thats a 35$ meal

Best Ricky’s restaurant on the island. When I moved to Victoria 13 years ago I was excited to be living close to one.. It did not compare. Food always tastes amazing. Although have only had breakfast here.

First time dining in with the new restrictions… staff handled smoothly and made it easy.This location is nice for the view, not as packed/busy, and the coffee is better. Staff were very friendly and attentive.All around a nice place for brunch.

Service is lackluster. We checked in the hotel and ordered our food, they told us to come and pick it up after 20 mins and we ended up waiting an extra 30mins (server told us its coming out alreadyfor the food to be picked up for a total of 50mins.We tried their:Lasagna (3/5Serving is really big. Awesome garlic bread.Poutine (3/5Serving is really big. Standard poutine flavors.Southern-style Chicken strips (2/5Portion for this order is really small and very sad looking. Flavor is ok.Chicken Bowl (2/5Very sad looking bowl with the chicken strips above that is just cut into pieces. Flavor is ok.

So disappointed. Waited 50 minutes for appies and hour for our main course. There were only 4 tables being served and our appies came out cold and our main courses were undercooked. The only positive was Jeffrey the server. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had family from the Yukon trying to take them for dinner and this is how it turned out.

Decent portions and pretty tasty food and value. The restaurant seemed like it could use a good cleaning. Our table had a vacuum cleaner right next to it which wasnt very appealing to eat next to.

There was a bit of waiting to get seated and waiting for our orders and juggling of who was serving us initially.Our order, a club house with salad, a bltc salad and a Lousiana Beef Po-boy.It took awhile for our food to arrive and then our waitress told us she was handing our table to another person.The clubhouse was enjoyed.The bltc salad was about 20 percent less in volume than the last few times we had ordered it but was good.The Louisiana Beef po-boy was not good. The house salad was however. Their salads here are generally good.In the description they say it has an artisian bun, it wasnt. It was a regular long bun and it wasnt toasted enough and it was almost immediately mushy.There wasnt any horseradish aioli that I could see or taste and there were not any crispy onions as it says in the description.In a regular beef dip there are slices of beef but this was more like a pulled beef. Which is fine but there was a weird taste that made the whole thing taste off. I asked about it and the waitress said she thought they braised it in red wine. Thats not said in the description either. The one thing is there was a decent amount of beef, regardless of how it tasted.I told her it wasnt very good and didnt receive much of a comment from her on that but aside from that she was friendly and so were the other two who served us.

We waited for a very long time at the door while the waitress just kept walking by us. After deciding to quietly leave the waitress decided she would tend to us. I explained that it was just taking too long… she then became EXTREMELY RUDE. This only made us realize that leaving was the best choice. She then turned around and started loudly complaining about us not wanting to wait for “5 minutes” (we stood there for about 15 waiting for a seat aloneVery unprofessional environment.

Wonderful experience. Food was excellent and the portion sizes were large, ended up taking half my meal home. Clean, cozy atmosphere and the server was very nice

Great food, the staff was amazing. My kids and I vacationing there for 4 days and we were met with great food and smiles from the waitresses. We will eat there again when we go back next year

My husband wanted to order from here on fathers day. I was hesitant because the last two times we ordered there was either missing or incorrect items. I gave in and ordered him the Philly cheese steak and 2 Callifresco salads for me and my daughter. Picked up the order and when I got home discovered that the salads had no avacado, no cucumbers, no tortilla strips and barely any tomatoes or feta. Called the restaurant and they said they had a trainee working. Sooooo....whats your point? Your trainee is your responsibility. You should be checking their orders before they go out. You should be supporting your staff and not blaming them or using them as an excuse. Shame on you. Was on hold to get a gift card and hung up on. Fine with me. Never going back again.

We were staying at the Days Inn, and Rickys is located in the Hotel. Rickys is currently providing the breakfast included with the room, and it was great! Really good maple smoked bacon, and the service was top notch!We also had dinner. Chicken fingers, and a burger with salad. The burger was really good, and salad super fresh!The only thing is that due to covid the menu is somewhat restricted. I really was looking for a steak, and there is no steak of any kind on the menu.Other than that, really enjoyed the food. Staff was upbeat and friendly too. We would eat here again without hesitation!

If you are reading this review before trying this restaurant, do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.Couple ladies that were working this morning, saw us, made eye contact and didn’t say anything. That happened 3 times before one of them finally acknowledged and said will be with you shortly which took another few minutes. Probably waiting for at least 10 minutes, all the window table were dirty, with some of their cleaning supplies on top of it.After being seated, it took another few minutes, then the waitress finally came and apologized for the waiting. Then when I got my food it was cold and she never brought the orange juice that was ordered.The breakfast was included because I was staying in the hotel, however the orange juice wasn’t included so she charged and made sure before handing me the machine to pay, it had the “add tip” screen on, which obviously after the awful experience I didn’t tip anything which made her even more disengaged.Nothing good to say about this place

Alison is very personable and friendly. Makes you feel as if you’re sitting in your own kitchen. The food was fantastic and service was more than friendly. Beautiful scenery through the window is a bonus. Great for all ages, families etc.

This place is pretty freaking yummy. My girlfriend and my husband love it! Food is consistently good and we will defiantly be back again.

If you are the type of person who reads reviews before trying a restaurant then this is a must read!DRESS NICELY because if you dont look like someone who will tip generously then dont bother to go in. Only tried to eat here because I was staying at the hotel. Thought it will be convenient since it is around the area but I was wrong. Waited in a total of 2 hours just to have brunch here. Food was okay but it was already cold when it was served to us. Definitely not worth it. Restaurant was clearly understaffed (only had one person workingbut it was not an issue for some of the customers. Couple that seems to be a regular were treated nicely. They came 15-20 mins later than us but was served first, seated faster and the server that worked that morning keeps on following up on them (ask if they need sugar, jam, more coffee, etc). Their food was also given to them way faster than the rest.McDonalds is just 3-8 mins drive up north or theres alot of fast food along the way. Just save your time and money.

After being seated, we were asked for coffee which never arrived after being ordered. A single breakfast took 45 minutes to arrive after ordering and the eggs and hashbrowns were cold. The waitress never came to refill our drinks or check in how our food was. Not good service and not good food ultimately. Will not be going back and will share our experience with our friends as well. Also was not covid safe as no masks were being worn and no social distancing protocols and lack of cleaning of tables and condiments in tables as well.

First off we noticed bowls of warmer creamers sitting on all the empty tables. Horrible service. Waited over 7 minutes or a waitress to acknowledge us or to just even offer us coffee. Even though theyre only six tables occupied, we were ignored. We left and went to the Pantry. We were immediately given coffee cold creamers and menus and were met with a warm and smiling face. Plus less expensive items on the menu. No brainer choice for us now when deciding where to go for breakfast.

Seems not all Rickys are the same. This one was exceptional. The food was great and my server Viktoriia was very polite & professional. Located in the Days Inn, Nanaimo. No need to leave the hotel for a good meal.

I never review but omg this needs to be shared!! Beautiful location!! Clean restaurant!! Food was good. No breakfast past 4pm which was a serious bummer. Server was not welcoming or friendly. Rolling your eyes at the table & acting inconvenienced by your "guests" being there an hr before close & even after paying with a 20% tip before 9:01pm pushed right through our kids who happened to be in her way. I thought maybe she was having a bad day. Tried to over compensate. My bad. I wouldnt bother going back.

Ive gone here quite a few times... its a 50/50 as to the service its either terrible (my most recent experience the waitress was terribly slow and forgetfulor pretty good... the food has usually been typical of its kind, its casual and convenient for me. However last night I went there with 2 friends. All three of us ordered the poutine and we split a side of Shrimp. We realized the fries were a little off and I said so to the waitress ( they did give us a small credit towards our dinner billbut I assumed they were just under cooked until this morning when I woke up super sick . I called my friend and they too are suffering greatly. watch out for badly prepared food here trust me you do not want this experience.

Stayed at the Days Inn for a week, ate at the restaurant for breakfast 3 times during our stay (hotel guests receive 20% off breakfast). First time we really enjoyed it, (ordered classic bacon eggs toast and hash brownsfood was good and service was good with our server Jennifer. The second time we ate breakfast (ordered same thingthe breakfast was a little greasier and the eggs werent as good, again the server was Jennifer and the service was good. The third time we ate here our server was Kelsey, not a good experience at all. We were seated and she took our order (ordered same thing), 5-10 minutes later a man was seated behind us and severed before us, he was almost finished his breakfast by the time we were served ours. The eggs were over cooked and rubbery, the rest was really greasy and we received 3 pieces of bacon as apposed to the 4 pieces we received the other times we had breakfast here(very inconsistent). Kelsey did not come and ask us how our food was(I wanted to complain about the breakfast but she never came). We were done eating waited, another server noticed and came to take our plates away, Kelsey then came and asked if there was anything else we wanted and I responded no just the bill, upon paying I mentioned to her that compared to our other experiences we were not impressed with the food or the service today. Kelsey proceeded to argue with us getting all offensive that we werent happy. She argued that she did come and visit the table when she knows she didnt. She argued that the food was fine and that we told her everything was good. Voices were raised at each other, the whole restaurant had noticed and another server had to step in and was being apologetic asking if there was anything she could do to rectify this. Which is what Kelsey should have done. I wasnt trying to cause a scene and didnt want any handouts, I just wanted to give feedback and let her know we werent impressed today. In my opinion this terrible review could have been avoided if she cared the slightest about her customer service. Kelsey should not be working there.
