Ricky's All Day Grill Nanaimo North - Restaurant in Nanaimo, Canada
Went here for brunch with a friend. Place was busy and packed and since there were only two of us we were still able to get in. 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We both ordered the same Korean breakfast bowl, albeit one had sauce on the side.I was absolutely famished and loved the bowl. I wish they put more meat in as it was super packed with good flavor. Ordered tea as well and it was a perfect breakfast drink to pair with this very filling meal.
Me and my boyfriend went to Rickys for our anniversary and when we walked in the staff were standing in the kitchen the service wasnt very good and there were flies coming around the food we will never go back again
Today I went into Rickys for breakfast by myself. The hostess said she needed to check if there were any available tables for me, ( it was very slow with maybe half of the tables being usedthen I was sat at a table, chose what I wanted, and waited 12 minutes without anyone even asking if i would like a drink. No one talked to me other than the hostess before I got up and left.I have had great service there before today, but was disappointing.
Was great havent been in a few years but wow have the prices increased as with most places. But service and food was top shelf
Hash Browns are like eating straw. Overcooked or stale? Ordered eggs over medium...got one egg over easy and one hard egg. Waitress pleasant and service was good.
nice, clean place. food tasted good but took a while to come
amazing meal! the korean seoul bowl is my go-breakfast meal! never disappoints!
Has someone visiting Nanaimo for the time we decided to go to the Ricky’s close to our hotel. Family of 4 ordering breakfast at 1140am. Took 45min to get the food after us asking twice. Got to a point I cancelled my order out of disgust and said can we get the family their food. Waitress brings out the food. Hostess brings out my order, before I could say anything waitress looks at her and says he is not eating anymore take it back. I asked for the bill she brings the machine already set to NO tip. I said ok if that is what she wants and she gives me the receipt and walks away. Very disappointed by the lack of service and attitude. If this is how they treat people visiting they are leaving a bad impression. Shame as a restaurant close to us we planned on going back no more. Hopefully others don’t have the same experience that ruins their day.
Order cost 60 something bucks and it was wrong when we got home. Asked for extra sausage and hashbrowns and didn’t get any
The food is quite pricey for what you get. The service is prompt and friendly though. I don’t think we will be returning though due to the cost of one waffle being $17.50 before tax and tip. It does come with a little whipped cream but the strawberries were heated to thaw them as they were previously frozen. Not enough value for money sadly.
Went for breakfast today. I had the eggs Benny and my dad had bacon and eggs. Was really delicious! Eggs were done nicely! It was $50.00 for 2 people to have breakfast and we did find that expensive. Our server was nice but not overly attentive. Overall a decent place for breakfast 😋
Disappointed. About 1/4 way into my BLTC salad I found a long black hair stuck to the side of the bowl. I showed it to my server and she deducted a measly $5 off the $21.75 price of the salad which I could not finish once I saw the hair.Dont think Ill be going back there.
Had to wait for a table to be cleaned, the table we got was filthy, had to be wiped again, placed our order kids ordered mac n cheese, now, when kids order Mac and Cheese they expect Macaroni and Cheese not Rotini in Alfredo sauce! My wife and one daughter ordered eggs and toast, over easy, both of their eggs were over hard, I let them know and they suggested new eggs, I did not want to eat fresh eggs with cold hashbrowns and toast, so I declined. We were never asked for a coffee refill. Food was not good, service was not good. We will not return.
Horrible! Ive had some bad dining experiences, but this one takes the cake. Roast beef dinner was abysmal! All grey except for the zucchini, the gravy was extremely salty, and the beef looked as though it had been boiling in water! The worst part was the service. Forgotten food, the server was unaware of their table, server sounded put out for having to do those jobs, waiting for dishes to be removed, Appy plate was still there when I left. Sitting waiting for the bill for an extended time when it wasnt that busy. Other servers standing around, we were in close proximity to the kitchen and could hear our server joking around with others while our food was under heat lamps. Not once being asked how our meal was. We had not eaten here in a year, last experience was on the down side of ok. This was appalling, we will not be eating here again anytime soon!
I Loved it!Big dishes so yummy!!Heather was great server!!
We were way too hungry to go else where!!! All the waitress seen us but wouldnt help us until the elderly couple that isnt first nations stood in front of us once the man stood there he got help before us but said to the waitress that we were there before them. Note to self not going there again!!
Took family out for Saturday brunch. The hostess barely looked at us, and didnt smile once. When my children said hi to her, she ignored them. Then the server looked miserable when she took our order and was short and seemed frustrated when we took an extra second to decide. The food was good, though, but it wasnt worth the $100+ we spent.Ive been to Rickys before and it was loads better so maybe both people we dealt with today were having a bad day? Wont return. At least not to this location.
Hostess was absolutely amazing. I have been in the service business for a very long time. Great sense of humor and nice smile.
We received awesome service. the food was hot and very delicious. Great service by the waitress. Highly recommended this restaurant.
Fish and chips.Deep fried fish, kept falling apart.I let the waitress know, so she passed it on, in the end I got $5.00 off the meal. The waitress was very polite and respectful.Thank you.
Had a really nice breakfast here. Good tasting breakfast burrito and they were right when the description says it’s large. Lots of coffee refills was nice and everything tasted fantastic. I would say the restaurant had the Ac on quite high for a rainy cold morning but wouldn’t deduct a star for it
Went for brunch it was delicious a tad slow but what can you do when they are super busy. Be patient. They are amazing servers. 👏
We went to this location last night for the first time ever- not sure why, but the meal was old and cold- and the service was not too great. so I think I will stick to the South location with a better view anyway and reliable service! ☮️
This place was empty when we went for lunch.Expect typical north american greasy food. The food is ok, the staff is ok as well. Its located within a hotel, Im sure its convenient if you are from out of town and staying at the connected hotel.Other than convenience and the food being edible there isnt much to this place. Pretty mediocre nothing special but will feed your belly if needed. The prices were a little high for what they had.
Pretty terrible. Leathery bacon. Rubber eggs. They give you a 12" plate for a half serving worth of food. Prices are about $21 and up for anything and the quality is worse than cafeteria food. The theme of their decor I can only describe as "nightmare squiggles". Just an overall disappointment. Ive never been before and now Ill never go again... I feel bad for the franchise owner. Truly...
The servers and front end staff were awesome. Unfortunately they dont get much support from the cooks. Ive never had beef stroganoff that tasted like that before. They need to back off the dill. They replaced it with a sirloin steak. The cook also needs to check the charts and see what a medium steak looks like. The Rickys I frequented in Regina were by far a better experience than Nanaimo.
We were visiting Nanaimo and went here with our son and his family (including 4 grandchildren). We were served by Chelsea who really went beyond expectations. Theres a good menu for all ages and we left very pleased and satisfied. No issues, no complaints. If visiting again we would go back.
Waitresses were ignorant. Our bottomless drinks were empty for half the dinner. waitresses walked by 3 times asking tables around us if they were ok or needed drinks. But they were quick to get us the bill and machine. Food was cold. Being a native family i felt targeted. As we were avoided as much as possible. Just saying the looks werent pleasant either. Thanks for the service we deserve????
Good atmosphere and good food. Portion sizes are quite large, I can never finish a meal there it seems, but thats better than the alternative. The only major downside is service can get quite slow during peak times. Their Christmas lights are outstanding during the holidays too!
My granddaughters hamburger was dry..my beef dip the bun was dry and the meat was dry so was my brothers. .it was the worst lunch Ive ever had there..it used to be really good..what happened. .
Worst meal ever. Took 45 minutes for simple scrabbled eggs came slimy raw. Pancake was cold and hard. Ordered bacon had to ask for it again by that time i just wanted to get going. When I ask for the bill and returned the food. Manger came to my table and was very gracious. The servers take the heat from customers, so i told my server it wasnt her fault. Does not change the fact that they need to put a fire under their cooks. There is no need to wait that long for food.
Great food for us 4 adults (Reuben sandwich, chicken-brie-fig sandwich, schnitzel, refillable plate of French toast AND kids eat free!! Wow!!! The service was so, so good. Was her name Chelsea? She brought out the treasure chest to cheer the kids! We appreciated some additional notes - - on the Benedict, and the note of caution for pregnant women and alcohol. We love the decor, too. You all rate more than 5 stars!!
Quite disappointed with breakfast today. Paid $16 for 2 small poached eggs 2 pieces of toast and a small serving of barely done shredded potions 🥺. Looking at all the other plates at other tables, it was pretty meager. Mentioned to our server, who was pleasant, but not until we were paying. It took a very long time (45+minutesfor that along with soup…, so not great overall -except tomato basil soup was yummy.
Too expensive two poached eggs with hollandaise on the English muffin with some pesto $20 breakfast for with gratuity and tax $58 that is not anymore affordable. Host /Manager was very friendly and helpful
Ricky has always been one of my go-to favorite breakfast places. I realize all prices are going up on everything, but all items on their breakfast menu are almost $20, I was very shocked. Also, please get a non-dairy creamer!! 🌱
THANK YOU so so much for accommodating our hockey team last minute after their playoff win!!! The food was fantastic and the staff managed us very efficiently! It all went smoothly. We love going to Rickys as a family and you have now hosted both of our boys hockeys teams and are so grateful for it! Thank you again!!
Last visit I had the turkey meal, no dressing, gluten sensitive, told that the gravy is gluten free! Party of 3 Chelsea was tried getting me a gluten free meal. Chef wouldnt let me have half chicken because it had gluten coating. No gluten free bread for onion soup. I didnt care for Buddha bowl
Well I think this is a good restaurant. I did have an issue with a sandwich that I had ordered twice. The first time I came in I ordered the Ruben Sandwich, it was great, thick stack of meat. The second time, about 3 weeks later, I ordered it again and there was only a very thin layer of meat, I was Very Disappointed with the sandwich. The fact that there was no Consistency in the product has made me rate this restaurant only 3 stars.Would I come back? Yes I would. My parties other food items was good and tasted good. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good family restaurant.
Food was underwhelming at best. Major substitutions were made with no consultation. The boxed mix pancakes were mediocre at best, and despite the menus promise of butter, they came with margarine. Gross.
Our server was sweet but over all experience was horrible we started off with a manager who looked flustered over having more then one big top. Then moved to getting the reservation name wrong. then chosing to tell one group they cant sit together but letting the other group with the same amount of people sit together on the otherwise of the restaurant my family and I were the group that got split up. Then there was the fact that they knew they was a young child there and acknowledged him by saying he counted as a person but not giving us a kids menu for him they took the time to set up a coloring mat and crayons but didnt give us a kids menu. then the time it took from ordering to actually getting the food was 1hr 22m. Then the plates were warm but some of the food was overcooked and cold then the rest were just cold. Had the manager glaring at us the whole time while we dealt with a fussy 1 year old because the family wasnt sitting together. Then when it came time to give a diaper change they didnt even have a proper place to do it just a granite table 3 to 4 feet off the ground. As sweet as the server we had was I for sure know that I will not be going there again. Ive had better experiences at different Rickys but I will not be going to this location ever again.
Good wasnt that great and it took a long time for our food to come out even though it wasnt very busy. My friends food was barely warm. Our server never stopped at our table to see if we needed refills on our water/pop. When I asked for more water when the food was served she never brought it to me. She didnt stop by for a quality check after the food was served as well, just stopped by after we done to see if we wanted dessert and then give us our bills.
On the super snow day all staff made it to work and were awesome. The food is tasty with big portions.
Well this is the second time Ive had to write a negative review on this place. I never usually write reviews but this made me so angry. As per my previous review, we are loyal customers of Rickys North. As a matter of fact this review is due to that loyalty. We understood that they were not punching the loyalty cards anymore but my mom (who is elderly and on a limited incomehad a full one with ten meals on it and the next one was supposed to be free (within 10 dollarsShe wanted to use it and treat us to our meal. The owner (Jimwould not honour the card! He said it had expired. There was absolutely no expiry indicated on the card! This was all communicated through the poor waitress at time of payment. He didnt even come out and face us himself. We thought it was all very petty. Not a good way to treat your loyal customers, Jim. We (my mom and Istill have two 10 dollar coupons (the $50 for $30, not loyaltywhich we plan to use before the end of the year and then we will not go back. We will go somewhere that actually appreciates our business.
I work with Steve Marshall Ford Lincoln and If I could give out more than 5 stars I would! I called Rickys All Day Grill asking for short notice on accommodating 25 people for our Dealership Christmas breakfast. Not only were they willing to help us but the service was over above and beyond!! Everyone raved how good the service was, how efficient they were, even the food was great!...Thank you to the manager Marlene and staff you are all wonderful and we cant wait for next year!
We havent been to this Rickys location in a few years and decided to go here for my birthday recently, we were quite impressed ! The food is absolutley delicious and the price is right! Servers were awesome and friendly, the restaurant was quiet when we went ( Tuesday nightand it was really relaxing. Definitely will be continuing to come back here! Also awesome Christmas lights display this year again!
Service has deteriorated (i.e. we had to ask for a spoon to stir the coffee). We were not asked for our Vaccine cards, which made me feel pretty uncomfortable with a child who cannot be vaccinated yet, especially with waitstaff not wearing proper masks (just the tiny clear shield). Also the food went out faster than it went in, which didnt help with my concerns of cleanliness. Will sadly not return, even though the free kids pancakes are a huge plus.
Had an excellent late lunch, food hot and delicious , service was good and lots of safety procedures in place! Recommend the 1/2 roast chicken meal and the seafood pasta, both yummy!
I had a great breakfast, food was very good and service was not bad. Keep up the good work.
Breakfast was made to order ❤️ the waitress was lovely. My kids breakfast was goodIt was busy but not overcrowded. It was comfortable and spacious
It’s a nice restaurant, services are friendly but food takes a while to come out, since they are busy all the time. Kids under 10 have free pancakes when adult spend $11 or more. Pretty good deal!
