Ordered from skip the dishes they completely screwed up our order. The hash browns were supposed to have peppers and onions and they didnt exist. The breakfast was supposed to include pancakes and they didnt exist. When I called they could care less they said to contact skip the dishes. Wonderful customer service from a local restaurant we were trying to support. Not. Brutal. Save your money go somewhere else.

Three of us around 5:30pm, not busy, about 15 customers max seated. Two of us ordered fish and chips, other one burger and broccoli cheese soup. Took our drink orders which came ok. 15min later we get told there is no fish left and no broccoli soup. How can it take 15min to tell us they dont have what we want? We decided to leave, charged me $9 for two pops, waited another 10min just to get the bill for the pops. They should have apologized and waived the drinks. Absolutely pathetic service. Will never come back to this place. Been to many Rickys restaurants never been disappointed, this one is the exception. Deserves 0 stars.

Wow....after reading some of the reviews I feel that we went to a different place....but I checked and it was really the same place. To start when we first walked in the waiter was too busy chatting with a table to even acknowledge us then he walked past us as if werent there...the manager came and sat us then just left....after 4-5 mins the waiter came over and asked if we had been served yet. If you are the only waiter dont you think you would know. We put in our order with our requested drinks than sat and waited at least 10 mins when we finally said enough of this kind of so called service we got up to leave at this point the waiter told us that our order has just been put in...I heard of slow but this is crazy...we will not be back ....your worst mistake was getting rid of Tammy.

nice place, clean place and the staff was great. good quick serve and she was very nice to my kiddo. would definitely take kids there again. food was great also.

Patrick was great! He was the only waiter working, but despite that he was super friendly and did a great job! Food was also good, the curly fries were awesome!

Just had their Hawaiian burger. Man, that was delicious. Its actually Fat burgers thats a part of Rickies. I would have added a pic, but the burger didnt stand a chance.

We really enjoy Rickys updated menu. The chicken tenders are my kids favorite and I enjoy the fish and chips. Also, their coleslaw is very good, not the usual restaurant coleslaw, very tasty. The last visit our server was wonderful!

I was there a while ago. Wasnt happy at all with fish and chips. Friend convinced me to go back there for breakfast today and was blown away by the difference! They were all very nice and so helpful.(there was a issue with my friends vax card whitch they helped clear up right away!)And the food was amazing!! Loved the eggs Benedict!!!!!

Went here for a huge function with people from work. Given the number of people, service was quick, courteous and down right fun. Always love the breakfast menu! Check it out.

Food was expensive server wore a dirty apron and there was stuff on her trousers. Fork was dirty and the interior of the restaurant due for a re do.Suggest the owner put his staff in uniforms as some were oddly dressed..

I am celiac and tried to order bacon eggs as they have absolutely nothing on the menu that I can eat. Would not accommodate my request so I had to sit and watch others eat. Service very slow

Tammy and the gang are fantastic! Great food for good prices. Both times I went the food was great. The Veggie breakfast bowl was the perfect size, and I definitely plan on going again in the future.

Finally tried Rickys! it was a good experience and Would visit again!The bad:-Didn’t enjoy how the coffee tasted and it wasn’t hot. Wasn’t a fresh pot.-Avocado was on the darker side. Also lacked freshness.The good:-Service was on point. Friendly, timely, and attentive.-Clean environment.

They were very busy and the new server was very nice and seemed organized. What I ordered wasnt on the menu(we all know cooks prefer items are straight forward)& my server had no problem pushing the order through, it was 40 mins. But my coffee was never empty🙂

I ordered takeout through skip the dishes, 2 BC bennies and noticed there wasnt an option for stuffed hashbrowns which happen to be my all time favorite. I added in the comments to make the hashbrowns stuffed and I would happily pay the difference. Shortly after placing my order, a skip the dishes representative called me explaining I would need to go with regular hashbrowns as they could not adjust the price. Bummer, but no problem. I agreed & expected normal hashbrowns. To my surprise upon opening the bag the kitchen went above and beyond by making the stuffed hash anyhow!! You guys are amazing. Totally made my week, props to you.

Good food, good service.Had breakfast and the service was excellent. Food came within a few minutes and was very good.Coffee refills were offered.

Have not been to courtenay location for years. Finally decided to give it another chance yesterday and wow what a change. Food was great and tammy the server was the greatest. I will become a regular again.

If I was able to rate 0 I would, but 1 it is.Our order was two burger meals, a kids ceaser wrap meal, a poutine and side French onion soup.The order was 1 hour and a half, almost 2 hours. To make, the driver made it to our house in 12 minutes. When we got it, the food was hot still, so the driver did fantastic.The food however, was abysmal and I will never order from Rickys again.Both our burgers were a mess when we got them, put of place all over the box. They had no flavor on the meat. It was almost like they forgot to salt and pepper the beef. Or any flavor for that matter. The sauce also had no flavor, and yes my palete is fine I do not have Covid. This food is just a little salty with the flavor of bread and oil.The poutine was soggy fries, a thin layer of Gravy, and four cheese small curds. 4!The French onion soup tasted like burnt onion water, with no salt. It had a thick layer of a gross bread that covered the entire top, and almost half the thickness of the cup.The curly fries for one of the burgers, didnt have curly fry seasoning. It was the tiniest amount of salt and the fries werent curly, just.. slightly curved.The wrap had barely any sauce, and the flavor was just in the Tortilla wrap itself.My son who eats everything, had to add salt and pepper, as well as ceaser to be happy with it.DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD FOOD.Now if you want flavorless cardboard thats overpriced. Its the perfect joint.

I went here with my family including my infant son, we had an amazing time. Great portion sizes for a good price. All of our meals where very good. The waiter was very accommodating for our son, including trying to make him laugh and playing with him. Highly recommend.

Very slow service. Waited almost 40 minutes for breakfast, even though it wasnt particularly busy (about 1/3 capacity). They either need faster cooks or more cook staff.

Great server, ( thanks Tammy perfectly done food to my specific requests. This place never disappoints. OTher than the days inn location in Nanaimo Rickies has been the most consistent in quality and service for over 15 years.

Even in these times, Rickys always gets our vote. Never have we had a bad meal on our travels to Courtenay. Today proved no different!! An amazing server, (wish I could remember her nameand probably the best Clubhouse sandwich I have ever had!! And the soup!! Potato corn chowder (something like that anywaysthat weve never had before, was scrumptious!! If you need a place for a good meal, fast friendly service, then Rickys is the place for you to go!!

Ordered through door dash. the food I received was cold, and the burger tasted like a mustard bottle ( all I can taste is mustard still . this was all minor compared to what happened when I phoned. The lady on the phone told me that they would get a manager to phone me in the morning. when i asked for any supervisor she said they didnt have any. when I asked what I should do with the burger , she said she didnt know, when I explained that I was hungry and expected to eat some time tonight she kept saying someone would phone ( but not tonight. full disclosure, at this point I was hungry and getting short. The employee would not commit to getting info today. As a final cheery on top, she hung up on me after incorrectly taking my contact information. This place has gone way downhill and can take the nope train to never again.

Update: the Manager explained that they are seriously understaffed, and that this was a one-off situation. He offered to send me a gift certificate. All I can say is if you cant produce edible food in the time youre allotting the cooks, maybe explain to people that their food will be 10-15 longer to get. Our order was ready fast, we would have waited to have something enjoyable to eat.If I was rating the kids meal this would be a five star rating, the chicken was good and the fries were hot. However the meals we paid almost $20 each for were a dissapointment. I did not get the burger or the extra egg I paid to have on top of it. Instead they just sent us two of the burgers my husband ordered, and he did not get the type of bun he ordered. My fries were cold immediately after getting home from a five minute drive (again, the KIDS fries were hot sooo... the burgers were drowning in relish, and the bacon seemed like it has been in a warming drawer for a while. My burger was not fully cooked in the middle.

Good food but service was not very good and there was only one other table occupied. Waiter walked by with coffee without offering us a refill but offered the other table . It Felt like we were snubbed not a nice feeling .

Arrived at 855, 5 minutes before open with my 5 year old. She was branching out from our usual breakfast spot to try something new. A female employee turned the "open" sign on so we headed to the front door. After 10 minutes in the cold it was now 905 and a table with 3 men sat inside looking at us and carrying on in conversation. We knocked, pulled the door and walked halfway around the building peering in to see what the issue was. At 910 we left to go to our usual place with my child vowing to never return because they "made her wait in the cold for nothing"I called after to find a shocked staff member but thought management or owner would like to know the neglect their staff showed this morningWill not be trying again as I wouldnt want for made by people like that. Avoid this and go somewhere local that cares

Excellent meals again on Fathers Day June 2020, I Had the California Chicken Burger with Maple Bacon, Guacamole, Pepper Jack cheese and Sweet Potatoe fries served with Cajun Garlic Aioli, and dip. Absolutely delicious! I have had excellent meals there always for the past 4 years I have been going there for lunches, breakfast or dinner. Fast and friendly staff and the coffee is good and strong. I like going there, love the new renos and takeout service counter. That Aioli Cajun sauce is amazing! 5 Stars.

Wont go to Rickys again. Poor service,waitress dropped food on the table while serving picked it up &placed it on the customer s plate.with her hands. It was my birthday had 20 people invited. Also some people ordered side dishes didnt receive it .never again I wont recommend anybody to go there.very poor. I wish I could only give you a tip or less than a full star.

We decided to try Ricky’s again. What a horrible mistake!!! It use to be a great place to eat but since Tena is no longer manager it has gone to hell in a handbasket. We waited 20 minutes after being seated for the server come over and ask us if we wanted drinks By that time we were ready to order We ordered an appetizer, my husband ordered Prime Rib and I went for the Hunter Schnitzel. I asked for no Red Cabbage on my plate. Approximately 45 minutes later EVERYTHING was brought out together!!! An appetizer is BEFORE your meal NOT with it. My meal was wrong as it had the Red Cabbage NOT the veggies as ordered. We sent the appetizer back along with my meal. Another 20 minutes later the proper meal came The Schnitzel was tough as shoe leather!! The Prime Rib was mediocre and the veggies we’re GREASY!! It was an AWFUL dining experience!!! 😰😰

My milkshake was literally milk lol. There was no icecream in it or if there had been it long ago melted away due to the slow service. My daughter ordered the macaroni and cheese and it was Kraft dinner... Beer was room temp and I suspect they might have a refrigerator issue.

Were from Ontario and dropped in for the first time. Food was excellent, and the service exceptional! Everyone that served us was great. Our server Tammy was awesome. Thank you so much! We definitely recommend this restaurant !! Again Thank you !!

We like Rickys it usually has good service and good food depending on the location. We werent impressed when we first moved to Courtenay (last Decemberwith this location, but it has improved somewhat and based on our last meal there I would have given it a 5 star had this actually been our first time there. Hoping they keep the yummy food coming LoL 😃👍

I came here on my vacation, it was amazing, waitresses were so friendly and professional. Any questions we had they answered. The food was incredible. The manager actually came to make sure everything was good. She was very professional and nice. Ill def be back again!

Bad bad place.WAIT to be seated, totally ignored at the door staff just kept walking by us. Finally we asked someone to be seated.WAIT for food took over 1 hour to get our food.WAIT for the server to do a quality check bacon burnt eggs so overcooked they feel like rubber.WAIT for the check finally got up and stood at desk had to go and ask 2 people wandering around if we could pay.WAIT to speak with a manager which never showed up to speak with us. The server just gave us a free appy coupon and said sorry the manager is on the phone.DO NOT GO TO THIS POORLY MANAGED RICKYS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE IGNORED AND HAVE ALL DAY TO WAIT AROUND.

I love this place !!! You have the best waitress working there !!! Can not say enough about her ... we ordered our favorite dishes Ginger Rice Bowl and 6 piece Chicken and Chips Dinner. Best meals anywhere !! We will definately be back ! We were also given a dessert on the house ! So appreciated! Thank you so much Rickys! Great customer service! Our favorite waitress on the Island!!!!

Went last night for dinner didnt take long to be seated. We were given our menus we ordered our drinks and an appy to start. Didnt take long for our drinks and appy to come out (Chicken Strips are amazing). Kids ordered the radical bacon cheeseburger which is HUGE both of them found it to be very delicious well worth the price for sure. I ordered the 8oz New York striploin with mashed taters. My steak was cooked to perfection by far the best steak i have had in a long while that is for sure Kudos to the Chef. Our Server (Tammywas amazing also she always made sure we had everything we needed our drinks were always topped up, and was very friendly and always had a big smile on her face.I will be back again for sure!!!

I came in for dinner with a couple of my friends a while back as a celebration for passing my first term of college. We were immediately greeted by one of either the servers or host upon entering the building. Our table was clean and organized. about a minute later after we ordered our drink they appeared. I had a ceaser and man was it good.For dinner i had the New York Steak i think it was called. Normally at a restaurant i would have to wait until my next birthday for it to arrive but all the food was done within 30 minutes. Keep in mind we were a group of 4 youngsters.Everything tasted amazing. so much that its a ritual now to come back after every big moment in out life.

When they dont make you wait 15 minutes to make an order, and in the off chance they get your order right, it will probably be... Just alright.Ive never been blown away by this place, and I dont feel like I have high standards. I tend to go with family just so we can see if they ever break out of the sheer mediocrity that weve come to expect.Decent breakfast bowls though.

Feb. 15 we waited at the door and finally were seated by a woman who was on a mission to fix a table. It was upside down and she was screwing it together. We were seated and we told the special wine Wednesday. We wait, thought they may offer us water, coffee, or even wine special? Not! There were 2 girls on the floor, and 6 tables total.we waited some more and got a bit upset that no one returned. After fifteen minutes of checking my watch we left. Appearantly they dont want my business.she was kinda busy with her back to us chatting at a table she seemed familiar with. My guess is the service is terrible, but u cant say for sure, w never had any.i will recommend this place to people, recommend you go somewhere else.poor!

Poor and incompetent service. After the hostess finally arrived, I requested a table for 5 . This was Aug 10 about 11:30 am. There were no tables for five available. However, there were tables for 4, but they were not willing to move tables together or add one chair to the table for 4. The hostess went to a waitress, but she said she was not willing to accommodate another party of 5. I have never heard of this before. The hostess indicated it would be about a 20 minute to wait for a table for five (while there were empty tables). Also, she indicated because they were busy, it would be about a half hour wait to get our food. It was pretty evident they didnt want any more customers. While this was going on , five other potential customers left. In essence, they lost 10 customers....and again there were empty tables. WOW. We had to be at the airport by 1:30. We couldnt wait. Thank goodness I was going back to Alberta. I will never be back at this restaurant.

Absolutely terrible experience. Waited an hour and paid 30 bucks for 2 half waffles and a greasy disgusting chicken burger with fake processed cheese on it.Upside is the place was nice and clean but the service is terrible. Entitled rude waitress rolling and widening her eyes and getting snooty when customers say theyve been waiting a long time. Even to be seated or to order. I had 5 bites of my burger and mentioned it was bad but she didnt really care. I dont like to complain or send things back so of course I sucked it up and took the 20 buck hit.3 people that came after us ate and left before we even got ours. Would not return. Completely unimpressed. Probably will avoid the chain all together because of this experience.
