Place du jardin public, 248 Bd Sour Jdid, Casablanca 20250, Morocco, Casablanca
Romantic eatery inspired by the cafe in the 1942 film “Casablanca," with cocktails & a piano.
The food is American fare. I didn’t come to Morocco to eat things I can get at home but if that’s your thing it looks excellent. Also this is not from Casablanca the movie it was inspired by it and built in 2004. But it’s a cool photo op at the least. Not my cup of tea but I’m sure many others will enjoy it.
I love the movie Casablanca, very nice restaurant....
We have been here during the lunch time and during the night. The food is delicious, and the service really professional. During the night, it gets quite busy so the ordering process was slower, but still the atmosphere is great.
Booked for a Sunday lunch at this famed establishment. Little did I know it was founded only in 2004, recreated based on the fictitious cafe in the movie. Although I never saw the entire movie I was rather hoping they would play that song which Sam is supposed to play again and again. But unfortunately live music starts in the evening after 9 only. Food and service were good. We ordered a prawn salad to share. Sea bass and linguine as mains. Wanted to try their lamb shank but its not on the menu and waiter said its no longer available. After chowing down desserts we were awfully full. The crowd seated for lunch that day were mainly folks of the movies vintage while a younger lot perched at the bar for cocktails. Lets not forget its just after noon! Smokers can go upstairs where theres more tables and another bar. All in all, a nice place to have a classy meal if youre ever in Casablanca!
Ricks Cafe owner American Kathy Kriger, poses in the lounge bar of her cafe, where "Casablanca," the famed movie directed by Michael Curtiz, released in 1942 and starring Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, Morocco. Tough we did not eat here while on tour, our tour guide and local specialist drove the bus to this famous cafe so we all could take pictures!
What an elegant place! Beautiful and relaxing with a band playing. Highly recommend this restaurant in the evening.
Very friendly service, good dishes. A very authentic place. When we made the reservation, we were made aware of the dress code. Some of the guests who came in spontaneously wore shorts and sport shoes. That was surprising and disturbing.
Absolutely amazing food, great cocktails and extremely nice & attentive service. And live music starting at 21:00. And stunning architecture. And everything:)Even if you’re not a fan of the movie, I would still recommend to visit Rick’s Cafe. You will have a great time. Just remember to make a booking with them.
One of the touristy things to do in Casablanca. Made reservations in advance. Was well worth the hype ( and the price). The food was great, service impeccable. The icing on the cake was live jazz music and of course the song from the movie. Dont forget to visit upstairs!!
Piano performance ? Of course, "As Time Goes By"! We really enjoyed food and piano performance at Ricks cafe.
as other reviews mention, this restaurant is a nod to “rick’s cafe americain” from the movie casablanca, not the real cafe (which was a hollywood set). it draws tourists and is priced accordingly. most entrees cost around 200 MAD each. i had the sole in a butter sauce which was cooked well (though i did have to debone it myself). i visited on a monday evening and was able to get a table without a reservation. decor is cute and staff were friendly. the taxis outside the restaurant tried to rip me off. they offered to take me back to my hotel for 100 MAD which i knew was way overpriced. i said i would wait for a taxi with a fair price, they tried to negotiate down but quickly gave up and agreed to take me for a reasonable rate.
A must while in Casablanca. Doesn’t matter if you are a fan of the movie or not. The café is beautiful, the decor is not fully accurate to the film, but certainly you can picture Rick and Elsa around. We came for a drink and stayed for dinner. Cocktails were good , we ordered a Negroni and a Bloody Mary, both citrus forward. After the cocktails we were taken downstairs for dinner. We were lucky enough to sit next to the band, playing very pleasant music.Menu was short and streamline. We ordered grilled sea bass with curry sauce and a New York strip. Both good. Nothing special. For dessert we ordered ice cream. We found the coffee ice cream a bit iced. But apart from that it was excellent.Prices are a bit above average for Morocco , but weighing the overall experience I believe the value for money proposition is still very good.
If you are fan of the the Casablanca movie, this is a most. Its beautiful and takes you right back to your favorite scenes. We stopped in for some cold drinks.
Great place with amazing atmosphere. We enjoyed lovely lunch. Food was excellent. Very good price for value.
Food was absolutely delicious. Not a “fan” of the movie Casablanca but having watched it I figured I needed to make a stop in the replica Rick’s cafe. Not necessarily a must see by any means but it was a pleasant experience within the city. Waitstaff was very prompt and though it’s not customary to tip as high as 20%, a tip of around 10% is typically well received.
I always wanted to visit this place , my dream came true when I visited this cafe from film Cassablanca ! My fav movie .
Great place to have a drink and unwind! Amazing ambience feels like you are in the movie Casablanca.
Amazing food and service! A real testament to the Casablanca movie with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Rick’s Cafe really does a good job of making sure you have a great experience. We ordered the lamb shank, which is what we were told most people order. We also ordered the seafood platter, which was very big and delicious. Would totally recommend to tourists but definitely not a spot that locals frequent. 10/10 would recommend!!
As an avid "Casablanca" fan, I was relatively satisfied with my dining experience at Ricks Café... But if youre not into the film, you would probably be better off dining elsewhere. The food was good but slightly under-seasoned and overpriced. Wait staff were kind but not particularly attentive – we had to try many times to flag them down whenever we needed something. However, drinks were delicious (I recommend the French 75, one of the cocktails ordered in the movieand the atmosphere was GREAT thanks to a very talented live jazz trio. A must-see at least once for any "Casablanca" fanatic, but a could-skip for anyone else.
The place has charm and potential. They would do well not to discriminate against solo travellers by treating us the same as couples or groups… on the tables for meals rather than at the bar (especially when there are plenty of places available).
Loved their mint tea! Steak was yumm! Very enjoyable environment loved the piano playing in the background.
Nice place, good cocktail, recommend Casablanca beer.A little expensive, but acceptable, for dinning in such an elegant environment and sensing the "movie" atmosphere.
Didnt expect much here because of "hype" over the Cafe but was I ever surprised. The setting was beautiful, the menu selection excellent, the food delicious, and the staff beyond professional. If youre in the area, be sure to make reservations and dine here..... you WILL NOT be disappointed. Ill be back.
One of the only few places open lunch during Ramadan. The cafe is a copy from the movie, there is no original. Food was ok, apparently touristy and overpriced. Server stopped us from taking pictures at the entrance, very rude. They also charged us a bottle of water we didn’t even touch, but we caught it before pay. I don’t recommend this place at all as there are plenty of other better places to go.
Not the original Ricks from Casablanca the movie but built as a replica. Great live jazz. It is amazing how there is nothing to do around the Cafe.
before the visit better to watch the movie to feel the ambiance deeper. Very historical place with delicious food and high quality service. We went there two nights, first night there was folk songs with Ud and Tef. Next day they played Jazz and the owner of the cafe was playing the piano. A must see place in Casablanca.
Very nicely decorated restaurant in the 40s style! Its worth a visit even if you havent watched the movie. The food is more pricey of course, but not that much more than other touristic places in Marrakesh. We had the seafood linguine and the sea bass with curry, both were really nice and decent portions. Service was super friendly too.
Very good food, and the place is beautiful. I advise that you stop only for a drink to enjoy the atmosphere.
A place that leans on the movie to get you in the door, but the real experience is made by the staff, in an amazing riad. The staff are absolutely sensational, friendly and attentive, but also relaxed. A super comfortable environment. Food was good too- even came with some unexpected treats! I visited during the day, would be cool to see the place at night with a band playing. In all, a pleasant surprise, and I recommend going.
The food is amazingly good and the ambiance makes you want to see the movie that this restaurant is modeled after: "Casablanca".
Great food and atmosphere but feels like a tourist trap. The food tastes great and portion sizes were large, the price is high but to be expected from a fine dining establishment. For a portion of the night there was live music, very classy, very soothing, and a good accompaniment with a nice dinner. The music turns to oldies quick that make you feel like you are at Ricks Cafe in the 40s, but thats where that feeling stops.Beside the music and some Casblanca movie props, this place doesnt feel like Ricks Cafe. Saturday night and so empty, never wouldve imagined Ricks to be like this. Maybe Im holding this place to a weird standard, but anyone wanting to visit to get a Ricks cafe feel you will be disappointed.I was also disappointed with the rude and not-caring attitude of the waiter, which is a let down because for the most part Ive enjoyed socializing in Morocco.
A delightful, memorable evening @Rick’s Cafe. Beautiful rooms, exceptional service, and food befitting a restaurant of this quality. Truly impressed .. surpassing my expectations. A menu with classic starters and entrees, a creative drink guide and a nicely curated selection Moroccan and European wines. A delicious meal andwonderful night in Casablanca with piano to make you think .. you’re in film. Highly recommend !
An iconic must-visit place... Went for drinks amd a small bite and received a nice extra with our meal!! Lovely service people. But dont take pictures!!
Like walking onto a movie set. The best part is the food is actually excellent. Burrata was melt in your mouth good and the fish was perfectly cooked. Everyone got the cheesecake....it was that good. Play it again Sam!
Really nice atmosphere inside. We had only some cocktails, they were not tasty and quiet expensive. We got an appetiser from the house, which was very nice. The food smelled really good. You can smoke inside while others are eating. (Dislike for us)
Went here for our anniversary dinner and to share in the "golden age of cinema" experience. The food was incredible - we had to pause to enjoy it! The cocktails were lovely. The service was unbeatable - I barely had to light my own cigarettes much less pour my own wine. This is a 5 star place, so expect to pay fine dining prices - but well worth every penny. Please tip the piano player and service staff - they do an amazing job!! We left full, tipsy, and elated!
From the famous movie Casablanca, this hotel is created with the same decorations as in the movie. The restaurant is very classy, think live piano. If you want drinks only you can head upstairs into the cigar room which looks just like a bar from the 50s. Pretty fun for a fictional place. Pricey. Reservations recommended for dinner.
Food was pretty good, French style cooking. Its a tourist trap but charming. For some reason, servers were very unattentive and we had to wave someone down each time to order first drinks, then again for food, then again for dessert. Im not sure who our waiter was. This was at 7:30pm on Friday, the restaurant was at about half capacity. I had lobster bisque linguini and enjoyed it.
Really enjoyed this place. Definitely, definitely call and make a reservation! Lovely ambiance. Clearly for non Moroccans but if that’s what you’re looking for that’s ok! My first drink was pretty bad, but I sent it back and they were kind, brought me a different one which
Casablancas iconic place from a movie which was not filmed at Casablanca even Morocco. That Ricks cafe built after movie, now its so popular for tourists and i can say its a tourist trap I also joined the party. Ambiance was very good, overpriced place that I can say.
We enjoyed a delicious and romantic dinner here last night. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect, with beautiful period-correct decorations and wonderful music by a talented pianist who has been playing here since they opened. Goat cheese & figs, monkfish, duck confit - all very tasty. They even brought Susie a complimentary Kir Royale after dinner. Highly recommended.
A very nice dinner at a beautiful restaurant with tasteful homages to the classic film. Live piano music, candlelight, cocktails, and fruits de mer made it a very pleasant evening. Our hotel concierge didnt recommend it but we went anyway and were not disappointed.
If youre a fan of the movie "Casablanca" you will love every corner of this place! The venue didnt actually exist before the movie... It was created afterwards.. The place is amazing, the food is so delicious.. The workers are very friendly and welcoming.. It is slightly expensive but definitely worth it. Its a must visit 👌🏼
Travel back in time as soon as you walk in the door of Ricks Cafe in Casablanca. The ambiance of the restaurant is astounding, with 3 floors beautifully decorated and set as if you were a character in the movie. The menu and food was fresh, light and delicious. The service and drinks were creative, refreshing and well made. They also have live music on some nights so make sure to check out their website before booking a table.
Amazing service and food. They were able to accommodate our walk-in for 2 people before the curfew at 9PM. Ordered the roast citrus salmon and mojito. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Beautiful ambiance. A must see if you’re visiting Casablanca.
Exceeded expectations! Gorgeous interior, exceptional servers, and a lovely cocktail and food menu. Live piano music was a treat. Of course, prices are at a premium for the experience of dining here, but the food was decent. We were surprised there were not larger scallops (or a larger quantityin the entree we ordered featuring scallops with lemon risotto, based on the 230 dh price, however the scallops were nicely prepared and the lemon risotto was nice. The other entree we ordered featuring monkfish was good, but a bit overly salted. Again, not impressed given the price, but the price is for the ambiance, not the food in our opinion. Not a restaurant we would feel the need to go back to again, but it was a fun and pleasantly memorable novelty experience we will recommend to friends.
Had an incredible time visiting the legendary Ricks Cafe. The server was incredible and the atmosphere brings you back to the 1942 fictional restaurant and bar with their amazing music and decor.I ordered the crab salad (wouldnt recommend), baked oysters with hollandaise sauce (go for it), and the Lobster and pasta dish (Awesomeness). My wife ordered the T-Bone (wasnt her favorite).Overall the restaurant was a hit and I would recommend anyone to give it a visit. Dont expect Rick aka Humphrey Bogart to be there other than a few posters here and there. But if it makes you feel any better I was slinging his famous one liners to the server all night....
Checked out the movie clip from youtube and yes, this is the closest or may be the only one, plus music to entertain the guests. The food and wine are the finest ones. Unfortunately, our visit and dine wer cut short by the curfew. But this place is interesting, near the sea and also near the walls of the medina.Got a free post card at the exit which i got to send to myself
A unique experience in Casablanca that one must try. I was greeted with a very welcoming staff from the door and walking me in to my table. Feels like you step back in time a little bit with the recreation of the bar in the Casablanca movie. I sat in the bar area as I grabbed a drink and dessert. I had their special Ricks drink which is a whiskey based drink with a sweet twist that I loved. The tables, chairs, lighting and everything was preserved antiques. Except European prices or fine dinning prices which is fine because of the ambient. The one thing that held me back from the 5star is cleanliness as the bar area had bunch of flies around. Looks like they had the windows open and nothing to kick out the flies.
What an amazing experience, from the moment we walked In , we were greeted with such a warm welcome .All the food we ordered was one more delicious than the other and the service … impeccable!I will definitely go back … and anyone visiting Casablanca, must go there .
