Rex Steakhouse - Steak house in Conroe, United States
My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here tonight. It was fantastic and we had a lovely evening. The two sisters who served us were so kind, and the service was excellent. The food was delicious. We will definitely be back soon.
Took my girlfriend out to dinner tonight here. One word. Absolutely phenomenal! We will definitely be coming back to Rex! The food is amazing and homemade!
Bistro Italiano & Rex SteakhouseMy goal with the visit was to support the local small restaurant. Understanding of the struggle post covid with staffing challenges and surging prices. We were a party of 4 with 6:30pm reservations.Unfortunately, we had a poor experience and will not be back. $180 bill for 2 people, this is not the advertised “extravagant fine dining experience” we were hoping for!Our many frustrating experiences. Ordered a Pinot Noir bottle, they were out of ALL Pinot wine! We settled for offered Syrah. Dinner ordered speciality bone-in cowboy ribeye and normal ribeye medium rare with sides. The cowboy steak arrived with no bone-in, looked like normal ribeye. Both steaks were overdone. They were out of many sides including creamed spinach. While the appetizers came out quickly, we waited 90 min for our main courses to arrive when the restaurant had only 5 tables with customers. We were really frustrated with this long delay and bringing steaks not as advertised. Want bacon bits on your baked potato, $4 added..really for bits? Then a 20% auto gratuity is automatically added for a 4-top table. We did not see this quoted on the menu..oh well.My message to the owner/ management. The wait staff is doing the best they can, feel sorry for them. Accountability is at the management and chef. Improve your inventory with meals as quoted or be transparent up front before ordering. No bone-in ribeyes are served yet ordered. Hearing many times "I’m sorry we are out of that item”. The 90min wait for your meal to arrive is excessive, we were ready to leave with only appetizers served. I realize it’s a struggle to remain in business in tough times, please focus on improving. We went for dessert down the road at the higher end place and had a positive experience. We tried supporting the small establishment, unfortunately $180 for 2 and poor experiences we will not be back.
Absolute GEM 💎 EVERY single item we ordered was pure perfection! The family is warm and inviting great conversationalist and we are excited to visit again soon.
We have had dinner here several times. The atmosphere is quiet, relaxing, and just all around pleasant after a long day at the office. The beer is ice cold, mixed drinks are on point. You must have the smoked bacon as an appetizer! The aged beef is served on a 500 degree plate cooked to perfection. Rina always takes very good care of us. A family-owned and operated restaurant and always a fine dining experience.
Omg we read the amazing reviews about this place, and I’m happy to say it surpassed our expectations! I brought my husband here for his birthday dinner and Rina went above and beyond. She noticed I was a little stuffy, and made me a hot tea. The steaks are served on 500 degree plates, all the food is fresh and the sauces are so savory. I encourage anyone who wants a good meal with impeccable customer service to try them out. Family owned, cozy atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Ohhhh and make sure you try the lemon cake! Hats off to Rex’s!!!!
Food, service, and atmosphere were top notch.
Hands down the best food in conroe. Never had a bad experience. Bisque is awesome, attention to detail is always on point...
Best steak I have ever had! Best Experience as well. Waiter made us feel welcome! Will always make this a must when in TX!
Food was good, but overpriced. Service was very slow and they were not that busy.
Did Uber Eats, and the food was not worth the price point. Burnt coconut shrimp, french onion soups were bleh, and a few other items were lack luster. The onion rings and calamari were pretty good.
Great service even greater food good place to go have a good conversation we stayed over the closing time and they offered to stay open family owned and they mentioned food made in house with fresh ingredients its dam true my ribeye was great 👍
A nice place to escape the typical chaos of common frequented establishments. Nice ambiance, food was ok, price was on the high side.
Just ordered from here and for the price I was expecting at least a prime cut of beef. The new your strip was more gristle than meat and the steak was so raw it was inedible. The sirloin was also raw and inedible. The cheese ravioli was utterly disgusting. Will not go back!!
This was absolutely amazing! Probably one of the best steaks I have ever had! The service and ambience was excellent! I highly recommend this place!
This is one of my favorite places! The food is always amazing! Staff is always friendly and kind! And the chef is one amazing cook!We are never disappointed when we go.
We were a little apprehensive by the outdoor appearance but dont judge a book by its cover! Once you step inside, youll find an incredibly charming ambiance and it just gets better from there. Awesome, friendly and FUN service! And the food was AMAZING!
Family owned and operated. Delicious authentic food and wonderful people. They were packed tonight, but well worth the wait!
On a whim my brother and I stopped here for dinner while we were in town for a business trip. We *almost* changed our minds when we pulled up outside, but decided to go with the reviews we read and trust in them. We were NOT disappointed in the least! Rena, our server, was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is quiet, relaxing, and just all around pleasant after a long day of business for sure. The food? Melt in your mouth delicious. We both had the filet (medium rareand the plates came out HOT. If you needed to cook your filet a little more, the plate would do it for you. Rena continued to make sure all of her tables were being well taken care of. Did I say she was the best? Well, at the end, as a sweet surprise, she gave us a nice little piece of chocolate cake!! Thank you, Rena!! Next time were in town, we will for sure be back!!
Service was phenomenal!! My wife and I decided to go in for a date night, and we were not disappointed.... Pasta was fantastic, and the calamari was to die for. All in all a lovely night. I definitely recommend coming here, you will not be disappointed.
We own the tattoo shop Texas Rose Social Club in the same shopping center as Rex Steakhouse. So after work, we decided to try it out and we were not disappointed. Our waitress was amazing, Rina. The atmosphere was great. As we enter the restaurant, a wonderful smell hit our noses. The food was amazing! We will definitely go back and recommend this place to anyone after they are done getting a tattoo.
Best place for a wonderful mouth watering steak. I am partial to the filet. Wonderful atmosphere and lovely family run establishment. Always enjoy my evenings there.
Awesome family owned restaurant. Very good service. Delicious food. Ordered the sea bass, I’d post a picture but I ate it all already!
We had veal dishes! Excellent!
Exceptional food at a very reasonable price, great atmosphere, great service and now they have a lunch buffet! There goes my girlish figure!
Steak was almost tasteless. What taste it had was not fresh. The waitress got our order wrong, which is not surprising as she was limited in her English. The cost was way over priced for the quality. This not a true steakhouse as its choice of steaks was limited and was a small part of their menu.
This is a small restaurant. Perferct if you want to have a meal where you can have a conversation without having to raise your voice.Service maybe alittle slow, but if you are in a rush goto a big chain restaurant and get a subpar meal.Sit back and relax in a great setting with great food.
Valentines day dinner was a bit off for me. It says Italian on the building and they wanted $85 tonight for chicken pasta and mashed potatoes tonight. A bit much even if it was a special night
So my family and I travel out of our normal comfort zone and attempt to try Rex Steakhouse. We were sort of waited on. We got water. I dont know if the staff didnt think we were seriously going to eat or what but after 30 minutes and having to ask for a menu, we left. Im not big on leaving reviews but I see why this place wasnt busy on a Friday night. On a good note, the guy playing music was very talented.
I’ve never left a review for a restaurant, but feel I have to…I’m going to try and be as honest as I can be. I was hoping this would be a diamond in the rough and be a gem so close to my house, but it wasn’t. The restaurant decor isn’t bad and the servers were nice, but the food was not good. The prices were very, very high (cheapest steak was I think $27 with most in the mid $30sand the food quality was very, very poor. Every thing is a la carte and expensive as well (think Morton’s or Jasper’s level), but taste like you got it from Kroger. The steaks had no flavor (I mean zero…no salt, pepper, or butter), a lot of gristle and a weird aftertaste, the crab cakes looked and tasted as if once frozen in a bag and heated up, and the free bread was stale. The asparagus was fine but the salad and dressing tasted store bought. The best part was the live music (solo guy playing guitarand the tea. That was the first time I can recall not finishing a steak. It was a $130 mistake that I won’t be remaking. I don’t know were some of these other great reviewers were eating, but I suspect its family, friends or employees leaving these good reviews. I normally will just think lesson learned and move on, but the food was bad…real bad…seriously the worst steak I’ve ever had and the prices were on scale with a very nice restaurant. I don’t like seeing people fail and will root for small businesses, but don’t like seeing people waste money like I did tonight. Rex, you need to fire the chef or call Gordon Ramsay…do something fast.
Brad Hubbard must have gone to a different restaurant than the Rex Steakhouse that we visited. It is well over priced, disgusting food, incredibly poorly plated and served. Its obvious there is no love for good food in the kitchen at Rexs Steakhouse. We should have realized this when we walked in to find only four guests on a Saturday night. Dont waste your time and money.
Great music with Kevin Lamar and Kenny Cooper. Great conversations and filet mignon. Family owned and operated the owner does all the cooking. Great place to eat. Christmas Eve dinner
Exceptional dining experience. All our meals were perfect. Wait staff was attentive and polite. Been looking for arestaurant of this caliber for a long time.
The worst steak ever!!! Actually found gristle Im my $40 steak. The service was slow so we anticipated fresh food.....NOPE!!! Meat had an odd flavor like it was cheap or old, and the vegetables were just plain limp. Avoid this place at all costs!!!
What a wonderful surprise! We made reservations for our anniversary not knowing anything about the restaurant. The waitress was a Dream, the food exceptional & the chef was delightful. Price was well worth the decor, elegant, delicious meal, ambiance, great dirty martinis!
This is not a family restaurant. This is a place you go on special occasions with spouse and great company. It is pricey, but very well worth it! The steaks are absolutely the most tender and flavorful thing Ive ever had! Just remember, a couple, having a great meal, with a few drinks a piece, will have a bill of $120 or so.
The margaritas were amazing! My steak was great and I enjoyed the atmosphere.
Well not surprised the place is empty on a sat night. The steak had a smell Ive never experienced before. A $30 steak should not feel like Im cutting into a rubber boot. Will never come here again!!
Great company! We had a great date night, food was flavorful, plentiful and service personal and very pleasant. DEFINITELY GOING BACK!
I cannot find the words to adequately describe my disappointment in our experience tonight at Rexs Steakhouse. I cannot even give our experience a 1--it was that bad. It was a complete zero, but I am forced to give at lease 1 star in this rating service, so that is what I did. In the past, I have been to Rexs with my family and we had good service and high quality food, but tonight was a complete disaster. We went there tonight on Mothers Day looking forward to some great food and great service and we got neither. All I can say is stay away!
I have been coming to Rex for about 4 years now. The food is ALWAYS incredible. I travel 35 weeks+ a year, & I can confidently say, you cant get a better steak! You cant go wrong with any cut. I love seeing that the young daughters are learning the business, & working as a family. I always look forward to my returning home & a good steak!
Very happy! This was probably the best steaks we have had! They practically melt in your mouth and the homemade steak sauce complimented the steak very well. We also had the asparagus which was completely delicious! We definitely recommend this restaurant!
I have had some of the best steaks I have ever had here and some of the best service on the planet. The last time I ate there it was to die for. It seems to be intermittent. I would love to give this place 5 stars as the food is that good; but, occasionally the service is really terrible. Yes, I will go back an eat there again. Yes, I recommend this place with the caveat that you may get some lousy service. When its good its awesome.
Terrible. Went in alone one evening for a meal. Never been there before. Took several minutes for waiter to check on me. Ordered glass of wine. Took several minutes for that to show up. I finished the wine before the menu was brought. I waited a total of 25 minutes and then paid for the wine and left. After the wine showed up, did not see the waiter until I tracked her down and asked for my check. When the mgr asked what the problem, I told her and her response was OK. This is a high end restaurant, for the area, and the service was horrible. I see why, on a friday night, there were only about 10-12 people eating.
Worst service Ive seen in my entire life. Hostess barely acknowledged us. Sat down, received menus and water. 5 minutes goes by, dont see any wait staff.. another 5 minutes goes by and food gets delivered to 1/5 tables that are sat and all wait staff disappear. Another 5 goes by and my fiancé and I walk out. Dont waste my time or anyone elses for that matter.
TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!! Husband and I tried it out for first time due to good reviews online. What a mistake! To be fair, I will say the atmosphere is pretty nice, romantic and low-key. However, the service was VERY poor, and everything was waaaayy below expectation and waaaaay overpriced. Place was not busy at all, but waitress had NO personality and was not attentive at all. Kept walking right by us over and over, ignoring us repeatedly. We ordered stuffed mushrooms appetizer, which was not good, and was hopelessly slathered in butter and garlic. Waitess said sides were "family size". NOT! They were just regular size. Broccoli slathered in garlic as well. Garlic overpowered everything. Waitress said $50 cowboy ribeye was 1.5" thick andover 20 oz., so hubby and I got obe to share. NOT! It was at most 3/4 inch, and maaaaybe 15 oz, mostly fat, NO flavor, and also slathered in butter, while also sitting in a plate of melted butter. Asked for Worcestershire sauce to give some kind of flavor, but even that tasted very odd. Bread was cold, flavorless, and the block of spreading butter was cold and hard. Even baked potatoe was small and "blah". So we paid $100 for ONE meal to share, ni dessert ir extras, which was all junk and bad service. Next time Ill go to Texas Roadhouse and get an awesome ribeye for less than $14, cooked to perfection, and all the awesome bread and sides you get. Will never go back to Rexs!
Restaurant is very clean and elegantly decorated. I ordered rigatoni sausage and it was delicious. I wanted to order a steak, but they were too expensive. Over $30 for an 8 Oz sirloin, without any sides, just the steak. Service was good, but a little slow, but it was a busy Saturday evening. Final impression- good but expensive
Great food and service. All 9 of us enjoyed our meal. They have a Long table in a small room to accommodate a group of our size. Steaks were prepared to the correct doneness and seasoned very well. Went on Saturday night and they had live music as well. Will definitely go back when we return to the area.
My new favorite steak restaurant and my wifes favorite place for Italian. Their staff was perfect and their desserts are to die for. This place has it all. This is our new date spot or a nice dinner with friends and family.
Rex Steakhouse/Bistro Italiano The atmosphere, wait staff, and live soft entertainment/atmosphere were very good. Food, steaks very over priced and bland. TEXAS ROADHOUSE has a much better steak.and cheaper too. Aspargus, was good, baked potatoe had store bought bacon bits, not fresh, salad ok, and they served steak sauce? On aged beef? Hostess/owner, did not really care about our reply or comment. Each item is individual priced. $150.00 for 2?
