Revolución de Cuba Newcastle - Cocktail bar in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
Revolución de Cuba Newcastle in Newcastle upon Tyne
Description
Privilege
Good place for a chill night out and youll be surprised with the amazing variety of cocktails there are
MoreVisited on Saturday night and felt the place was lacking in atmosphere. Nothing like the party vibe Id seen on their publicity photos. Wont be rushing back.
MoreGreat lively atmosphere, friendly helpful staff serving an excellent tapas menu.Good food at reasonable prices. Live band was a bonus.
MorePleasant bar when Ive been in the past but sadly ruined by the incredibly rude and power tripping doorman.Didnt allow entry due to wearing a colourful fancy dress jacket. On accepting this politely and binning the apparently offensive item of clothing the member of staff continued to decline entry without reason despite continuing to let everybody else in. He seemed to take great pleasure in ruining the night out and had a condescending and unprofessional attitude throughout, which then resulted in the dozen other customers in the group leaving.Thankfully we all proceeded to have a much better night out elsewhere where the staff were more pleasant. I appreciate its hard to find bouncers without some kind of a complex but this establishment should consider training them on how not to damage their reputation and lose business.Edit: Appreciate the response but unfortunately the owner is incorrect on two fronts. After binning the offending sequined jacket I was wearing a plain black T-shirt and black jeans, perfectly acceptable according to the dress code. And the bouncer WAS rude, having not been there Im not sure how you can call me a liar with 100% certainty. Oh well, a disappointing resolution to a disappointing evening.
MoreEDITED (following reply from the venue)Went in after the game - jumper completely over the top of the newcastle shirt. Got told "thats life" at 7pm whilst looking for a table and because I wore it underneath - will be telling everyone I know to avoid this place - four bouncers wanting to make a point ruining what is a great venue.Avoid - plenty more places in NewcastleEDIT:To clarify on the passive aggressive remark on dress code - I was wearing black barbour shoes, black jeans and a black jumper which does not violate the dress code on your website. If this is somehow not acceptable for an Autumn evening in Newcastle City Centre please do confirm.I understand that you may want a particular dress code in place however to discuss or ask about what anyone is wearing underneath any layer of clothing that is visible to see is inappropriate in any setting and in any venue. Its not asking a lot to be shown a basic level of respect and youll get this at plenty other cocktail bars in Newcastle without needing to reveal the details of what your wearing which isnt visible to creepy staff.A shame because this is a stark contrast to the very friendly staff inside who have served us in prior visits. Was looking forward to a good catch up in here, unfortunately wont be back - good luck with that business model and defending such behaviour though.Muchas GraciasEdit*2I would like to point those reading this and deciding where to go in Newcastle to the final paragraph of the owners reply here. They "applaud" the behaviour of checking what undergarments you are wearing and believe this is acceptable behaviour. Utterly staggering comment - hopefully vulnerable groups particularly women in smaller numbers see this and choose to go elsewhere - because this venue clearly welcomes the door team examining if you are wearing a sports bra or not.The fear they also have of men taking off their tops/jumpers during a meal is also very bizarre- if this is the kind of conduct from patrons they encounter recently then Im glad we ended up elsewhere.Very odd dialogue that raises a lot of red flags. I recommend just avoiding this kind of drama and giving this place a miss - Newcastle has so much more to offer.
MoreExcellent cocktails and lovely, welcoming service. The portion sizes for tapas is great but they lacked the punch of Caribbean/ Spanish cuisine. Overall good value.
MoreHad a work bottomless brunch out :). I would say good value especially for the drinks:- a reasonable choice, food was ok, we had a mix off the menu…. Might be worth upgrading to have another part of the menu but then that makes it a more expensive couple of hours….which again is still really a good price.Staff were good, took a while to clear plates after eating bit it was very busy
MoreNice cocktails, too busy to do food upstairs so we just had one drink.
We came for a birthday bottomless brunch and Justina served us, she was absolutely amazing always making sure we were topped up with drinks and letting us know when our last order was. The food was brilliant and the whole thing was great value, such good vibes inside. Thanks to the whole team for a lovely day out with my friends ☺☺
MoreThank you for a fabulous Bottomless brunch! 1st one Ive had & it was fab...very friendly staff and a great choice of drinks & food on the premium...lovely touch the mimosa & Hawaiian flowers on arrival x
MoreReally nice venue, love the roof terrace - wouldnt be my first choice as Im not a massive fan of rum, but nevertheless a pleasant place to get a few nice drinks in the town.
MoreHad a lovely evening here having the Fiesta buffet menu and the Happy Hour drinks. Atmosphere is lovely, there was live music and the drinks are amazing!
MoreFantastic food, lots of variety. The cocktails were very strong, certainly no half measures!
MoreThe Tapas wasdisgusting apologies for being soabrupt, I dont like or usually leavebad reviews but the pork tacosknocked us ill and we couldntwait to leave once the food hadarrived, the over powering smellof fish (which we thought wascoming from the prawnswascoming from the pork I actuallyate one of the tacos and informeda member of staff that there hasbeen a mix up in the kitchen as Ithought I was clearly eating tunadue to the strong fishy scent andit also looked exactly like tuna andtasted extremely fishy afterfinding out by the staff that this isa common mistake made by a lotof customers and I was 100%eating pork we made a sharp exit,I enjoyed the roof top terrace andthe staff were lovely but I wasclose to demanding my moneyback but due to the company Iwas in a didnt want to cause ascene.
MoreHad bottomless brunch on Saturday, a group of 10 of us. The drinks were well supplied, plenty and no one ever waited long for a drink, I had some kind of spicy version of eggs benedict with pulled pork, it was ok, bit put off as it looked like tuna... they were prompt to kick us off the table at end time. Overall a nice experience.
MoreI was one of the 30 guests that attended a party last Friday which went horrendously. The mastrador meal we were pushed towards was £18 buffet style but was nowhere near enough food for us all, I wouldnt have paid even £10 for the amount I got. We also had two people with dairy allergies (allergies, NOT intoleranceswhich we clarified in advance and were assured would be catered for, but when we asked whether there was any dairy in one of the dishes the staff (kitchen and waitwerent able to tell us either way. Its a shame because it would have been a good night, it had been planned for weeks, but really this kind of ruined it and I would be hesitant to ever go back.EDIT: because some of my friends have received replies about our negative reviews being some kind of threat to get a refund. To that: no, that is not what this is. If you have a bad experience you leave a negative review, thats how it works. If your replies to my friends hadnt be so rude or if youd taken any sort of responsibility for what happened or compromised in any way then it may have tempered our feelings on the situation. But you didnt. I feel bad for the nice staff we interacted with on the day because the management and sales team are clearly subpar. And the bouncer turned away a friend who didnt have her ID despite this being a party where a 9 year old was attending. Read the other lowest reviews and youll see its all complaints about organisation of big parties and the bouncers and youll know this isnt an isolated incident. I wont be replying to any staff replies to this message.
MoreAttended a group function with a buffet menu. Unfortunately the vegan choices on the menu came down to paying £18 for some rice, sweetcorn and what tasted like pre-bagged salad put on a plate. Was specifically told i would not be able to order anything from outside the buffet menu, which is odd considering everyone else in the building that was not at the function had full menu access.Incredibly poor that in 2022 common dietary choices arent catered to at all.Promised to be in a live music area but instead was ushered into a downstairs area where some music just seemed to play sporadically, often not at all for periods od time.Venue itself was nicely decorated and clean etc, just a shame about everything else.Hopefully just a one off issue due to poor communication and organisation but overall a really disappointing visit.Edit: As Im unable to respond directly to the managers seemingly childish ego driven response, having to edit on this.1. The organisers dissatisfaction has nothing to do with my own. This is a weird way to respond to valid feedback, suggesting you know the experience was sub-par. Ive not asked for a refund and I only peripherally know the organiser of the event and was attending as a +1 for my partner. The seeming satisfaction of other guests isnt related to mine.2. Enchiladas advertised as vegetarian online, and being told they contain cheese on the evening by staff, arent vegan.Having to move it down to a 1 star review, didnt expect such a rude and largely irrelevant response.
MoreVery very disappointing experience both food wise and customer experience wise. Be prepared to pay 18£ for a buffet that contains very little vegetarian/vegan options despite being told in advance and portion wise very small. Do not recommend you to stop here at all. Staff members did not provide any support nor explanation neither help to address allergies concerns that could have endangered lives. Please avoid at all cost.
MoreI did not enjoy my experience here. The food was really bad, really really bad and the portions very small for the price you pay. Honestly there was some chicken skewers that tasted like old feet, which was gross. The food experience was just so disappointing. Also of you have allergies you should avoid this place as their team is very unhelpful in this regard. Could be risky. The evening music and dancing component of this place is fun and the atmosphere is lively, although the drinks are rather overpriced for my taste. Perhaps stick to the bar bit if youre going go here. Although there were some very drunk patrons hassling women around the venue, who was only eventually removed after he vomited in the womens toilets. So thats not great. All in all i didnt love my expensive experience here, Newcastle has way better to offer you.
MoreHad tapas and cocktails, food was lovely, staff were friendly
We were there Saturday a party of 13.. service was outstanding. Never seen so much alcohol. Bottomless brunch was great...
MoreI really wanted this to be a great place to eat, but everything was a let down. There was a live band on, which is usually great, but it was so loud, you couldnt hear yourself think, or the conversation of the person sitting next to you. We ended up moving tables it was so loud (to an unclean sticky table, maybe because wed asked to move and it wasnt cleaned in time).Menus were different online to in the restaurant. Much smaller veggie options in the restaurant and the booking from the QR wasnt in use. They ran out of 2 dishes (happens), and one dish only had 2 slices of halloumi on, seemed less than there should have been.Food was average. Nicely presented and came quickly, but nothing special taste wise. The tortillia chips were all broken too, so you couldnt scoop anything with them. The cocktail was underwhelming. Seemed a little watered down (supposed to have 3 rums in it), but I only drank one cocktail so couldnt say really. All in all a bit of a let down sadly.
MoreWe are tourists in town for one day. We were dressed with joggers and tops that weren’t scruffy by any means. I don’t fault any establishment for setting dress codes guidelines their indoor establishment but when you have outdoor seating perfectly suited for anyone it is absolutely ridiculous to turn paying patrons. I am of Cuban decent and it was very charming for me to come across this restaurant/bar. I was curious to taste their interpretations of the food and drinks of my culture. Such a shame they couldn’t make accommodations for travelers that don’t travel with suit and tie and dresses and heels in order to visit this establishment. Perhaps it’s time to revisit your protocols.
MoreVisited Newcastle from Birmingham and what a great night out this venue is. Superb music upstairs and cracking original music downstairs. Decent prices and great place. Highly recommend.
MoreFirst time in last week. Very stylish trendy bar with nice roof top bar. Staff very friendly, great atmosphere, big spacious bar.
MoreOverpriced, portions of tapas are tiny, and the staff follow you off the premises for a cash tip. When the premises clearly state card payments only, cash not accepted.
MoreCould not fault the place, staff so attentive they could not do enough and always friendly. Cocktails where nice but the tapas was amazing I loved the calamari especially. We couldnt even eat all the food we ordered as there was so much all cooked perfectly. It was a huge bargain 6 tapas and 6 cocktail for 2 people and came to less than £70 which included the tip. Would definitely go again
MoreStarted daughters hen party here the food was delicious cocktails were delicious good atmosphere 👍
More5 ladies from Hexham had such fun here on Saturday .The atmosphere was good .The food was quickly served even though very busy .We ate the lot 😋 and it was great value .As were the cocktail teapots .Staff very helpful . Cocktais on roof tce delicious .All in all 5* .Thanks .💃💃💃💃💃✅
MoreThe attitude of the waitress was the worse (big ginger woman). She asked us 2 ladies for the ID and not the male. Kept an eye on us all the time, for what? Ridiculous. She was looking at my passport with such detail… I am probably older than you hun. Tacos were not good at all, the drinks are worthy but I would not go there to eat maybe for a night out..
MoreI love this place, everything from the drink to the food to the service is all perfect. The live singers are also incredibly talanted. Beautiful vibe
MoreLush rooftop terrace. Expect to be kicked out later (even if youve bookedin the evening as the terrace is often booked out. Cocktails are great, staff are professional and quick to serve. I had many good nights in here. I despise the establishments policital alignments and profanity on the walls.
MoreNot the cheapest in the city but not the dearest.... Buffet was a bit naf over cooked chicken so dry it could have emptied the tyne. No forks hardly any food left after queuing for 10 minutes. Cant comment on any other normal food service.Nice bars and roof terrace.
MoreJust had a bottomless brunch today with my daughter. The food was lovely, wasnt expecting the guacamole and chips or the patatas bravas which came additionally to the food wed ordered, really nice touch. The drinks were superb and the service from all of the staff, especially Sophie was top notch. Cant recommend it highly enough. Thank you 👍
MoreOne of the best rum bars in town. Probably the best cocktail menu tbf... not had any food so cant rate food but decor atmosphere and drinks all 10/10 they do 241 on the cocktails so thats why I go here aswell as there rum selection.
MoreHappy hour cocktails at 2 for £10 is a must. The Zombies and Pain Killers are fantastic
MoreI had my hen do at revolution de Cuba and we did a cocktail making class and it was really good. Ben is the bartender who was looking after us and he was absolutely brilliant. The cocktails were nice and we had a great time. Would definitely recommend.
MoreNoisy place, but nice enough. Went for Mothers Day meal. All was good for the main part, though there were only 2 waitresses for a large place, and the food took a bit long to come. The food itself was nice, and with the 2-4-1 tapas and 2-4-1 cocktails, it was reasonable value. We did a later order of desert, but this took 30mins to come and what was supposed to be hot, was not...they did replace with another 10min wait, and made the deserts free, and offered a round of drinks on the house...so that was good, but the overall experience was spoiled. It meant we (as a familywere in there when most family would not be, and the more noisy clients, mainly there for the bar, had arrived in....Live music was a nice touch, food was nice enough, but not exceptional, and the search for really good Mexican food in Newcastle continues...
MoreWent for mothers day, they surprised my mum with a free gift bag of beauty samples and a Revolución gift card which was totally unexpected! Some of the items on the menu were not available so the waitresses were extremely apologetic and there was some confusion about our order, but the restaurant let us keep the tapas they mistakenly made for free which was such a nice surprise. Really genuinely friendly service from the staff, food was good too, with a great atmosphere and decoration.
MoreWent for bottomless brunch with a large group of friends and it was lovely! The servers were great, kept the cocktails flowing and kept bringing bottles of prosecco to each of our tables. Definitely got our moneys worth. The food was delicious.
MoreFood is great, but 3 small plates per person as the menu recommends is definitely quite a lot; having small plates is a really nice way to try more things however. The cocktails are unreal and there are quite interesting spins on classics. Service was very quick and staff were so welcoming and friendly!
MoreGorgeous delicious food! Great atmosphere. Amazing customer service, good cocktails. Pet friendly, they even brought a water bowl for the puppy at the next table over. Definitely coming back here in the future.
MoreAbsolutely loved this place. Ive been meaning to come here since it opened. I had to drag my other half here today and she loved it too. The cocktail happy hour is great - though it really annoys me that you have to get two the same. One of us was driving the next morning so we couldnt just double up on the ones we liked. Never mind. The tapas was lush - we got nachos with Cuban beef, jerk chicken (which was mega spicyand patatas bravas (standard). I also got a nice pint of Camden pale ale on draught along with a couple of gin cocktails. The atmosphere was chilled, the room bright and airy. I would have liked to check out the terrace but it was closed. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back to sample more tapas and cocktails that I am desperate to try!
MoreCame out with my girlfriend for her birthday (it was her first time dining here too). Great drinks, especially the pineapple rum teapot! Food was fantastic too - the price definitely matched the taste. Staff were always on hand to see if we wanted more food and drinks, which was a pleasant change to our usual evenings out.Would definitely come back, especially for the live music and happy hour!
MoreI had the tapas here today, it was amazing the variety of food was vast and there was some vegetarian options in this round. I also ordered the 2 for £10 cocktails which according to the sign outside happens monday-friday from 3-7pm I think
MoreI absolutely fell in love with this place! As we arrived, the security guard was so friendly, funny and welcoming. The staff inside then showed us to our table and advised us that orders are taken through the QR code due to table service. When they found out it was my birthday, they kindly bought us some shots and a strawberry daiquiri with a sparkler to celebrate which was so lovely! The service was just amazing, the cocktails were delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. Unfortunately not singing/dancing allowed due to the restrictions however they were playing fantastic music. The bar is absolutely massive.Highly recommend this place, I would go there again if I am in Newcastle.
MoreWhat a great place for food & Drinks the staff are first class & very helpful tottaly recommend.
MoreThe service was absolutely outstanding, bottomless brunch drink options were great. I thoroughly enjoyed the strawberry daquories and the prosecco. I ordered the breakfast burrito which I didnt think was great. Ive had food here before on an evening and it was delightful so I was a little disappointed. Im reluctant to even mention that the food wasnt the best this time because I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and everything else was great, alas I am cursed with being an honest individual.
MoreIt was fab, the Sharer teapot was great, sat outside under the heat lamp watching everybody get soaked in the rain. Something about drinking booze from tin cups and a teapot that makes it even better, weird but great. Plus the beer and Strawberry Tequila shots were fab.
MoreWorks Christmas party on the Santiago Sun Terrace. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Buffet style food was really nice. Would recommend, great night.
