Restoran Tong Cheng - Chinese restaurant in Cukai, Malaysia
This shop closes after lunch time. We finished our lunch around 2pm and the shop closed for the afternoon after we were done.Ordered 3 dishes, Pork Rib King(排骨王), clay pot toufu and baby kailan.Pork Rib King (排骨王was a bit tough. Not all pieces were marbled, so depends on how soft you like it. I like it soft, so not really my preference.Baby kailan with oyster sauce was really nice. Maybe because the oyster sauce tasted nice 😅Clay pot toufu had pork in it. The pork had a strong taste/smell. I guess they didnt parboil the pork first. Not a fan of strong pork smell/taste.Overall ok. RM34+ for 3 dishes + 2 rice + 2 drinks
Chinese restaurant near Chinese temple in Chukai . Quite popular . Food is decent . Service is perfunctory at best .
This restaurant used to be the must visit for its sweet and sour pork but it has lost its lustre after the MCO. 1/size of the regular portion and more batter than the meat.
Great tasting Chinese food.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Delicious food, worth the money.
Lovely hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Home cooked goodness. And real honest owners that won’t rip you off just cause you’re a tourist. Just ask for their recommendations and enjoy!
Had an amazing dinner. 5 dishes with 1 fish fish and sweet sour pork, rm85.Worth the money as the meal taste amazing too.
Fresh and delicious homemade style dishes. Try it then you will know.
This is a Chinese restaurant serving a tasty meal with reasonable price, run by 3 old Chinese men. We came on Friday, most of the restaurants and shops are closed. Luckily found this restaurant on Google. Recommended👍
A bit slow. Pre-Booking at least 30 minutes in advance is advisable.
Because i just go in to buy some drink
Great home cook style food at a reasonable price point. Must try their clay pot lamb belly and gu lou yok! Deduct 1 star because of the long waiting time. Will be back next time.
Very decent almost home cooked style.
Humble restaurant serving Cantonese food and seafood.
This restaurant was established in 1912 and managed by 4th Generation owner. Serving authentic Cantonese home cooked foods with Sweet & Sour Pork signature dish. Location is a bit remote thus most customers are locals. Still can see the gas lamps on the wall. Moved into this premise about 40 yrs ago.
Waited more than 1 hour for 3 dishes to come. Restaurant wasnt even full. Food was OK, but experience was absolutely terrible.
Offer delicious and cheap seafoods. Oldest restaurant. Never miss when visiting Kemaman, Trengganu
If you want to eat where the locals eat then this is the restaurant to visit. Local Chinese favourites done very well, my lunch was delicious. Had the steamed fish, claypot tofu and claypot pork belly with salted fish. Simple comfort food thats not pricey. Will be back.
Great value food. 7 big size dished with beers only 360+ RM. Where to find such great place.
The clay pot lamb, sweet and sour pork and fish is really tasty, but the prawns and vegetables are just normal. Waited for more than 30 minutes to get the dishes being served, because it’s crowded, but worth to try it! Next time should reserve table and foods before come, so don’t need to wait too long time.
Very nice food at reasonable price!
Non halal. Nice food but need wait long time as only one chef
Varities but taste is very average. Stuffed crab is famous but tasteless. Most of the item has very flat taste.
Not dislike, but food quality has gone down.
Excellent local restaurant for many generations. Good quality, good taste nice friendly staff. I have been patronizing them for many years. If not the best, probably the best...
Well, its decent fair with price comparative to KL standard hence nothing to shout about. Waiting time wasnt that horrendous as within 15 minutes from order the dishes were served.
Reasonably priced. Tasty. I would recommend it
One of my personal favourite Chinese restaurants in Chukai! Food is always great, tasty and reasonably priced... The owner is also the cook, so food quality remains good. Only thing is that it takes a while for your order to arrive at the table (do be patient, the owner/cook is ~70YO!), but SOOO worth the wait. Ambience exudes old world charm.
Nice Chinese food with reasonable price
One of the best Noodle soup i have eaten... nice n cosy, outdoor under shady trees.. service was fast too 👍🎉
Waited 30 minutes for our food to be served but totally worth the wait! Very reasonable priced too! This restaurant existed since 1912. The grandson of the founder is running the business now, and he has been working in the kitchen for 55 years!
All dishes cooked to perfection...especially the thai style talapia fish and butter prawns..
Superb and delicious but you have to set your mind first that you may need to wait about 45 minutes to 1 hour
Tasty traditional Malaysian Chinese cuisine!
Chinese restaurant, popular among local. No air condition or fancy decoration. However it make it up with delicious foods and friendly waiter.Cleanliness and pricing is average.Popular dish is fried fish with sweat and sour sauce and claypot toufu. Parking seem limited but can park around those housing or shop area as long as not blocking traffic. Do serve beer
A Restaurant you must visit if you at kemaman. Nice traditional Chinese food here.
Big portion and reasonable price food.
Cheap and not expensive...
Good affordable food but lots of mosquitoes. Best to bring repellent!
Very slow service....it takes 1hr30mins in getting our food served
Food Nice, but prepare loooong waiting time, it took me 1 and half hours.
Food is like home cooking. 8pax $209 for fried rice, bitter gourd chicken, vege, sweet sour pork, steamed garoupa, chilli prawn and a pot of tea.
Good cooking n very reasonable price. Highly recommended.
The waiting time was real. Better call in advance to reserve.Good old taste , price reasonable. Will come again
Food serving speed is dreadfully slow. No other beverages apart from plain water and beer.
Dishes not bad. But waiting for food quite slow . But still can be accepted.
Food are delicious and clean. Very good price, my favorite non-halal restaurant.
Nice local Chinese foods.
I was fortunate to stay a couple of years in Kemaman and Singapore and had the luxury to eat very, very frequently in that restaurant. Sometimes twice a day. Without a doubt the best time ever I had in my entire life in terms of eating. The baby kailan, the garupa fish, the noodles ....unbelievable...I wish Kemaman would be somewhere around my home.To the Wong family my deep gratefulness. Rolf
I have tried this restaurant for over 40 years. Previously it was located at a wooden house along Jalan Jakar. The food quality is consistent over decades. For just 100RM, you can enjoy great clay pot mutton, oyster omelet, fresh prawns and great fish. The chefs are getting old, but they are in fact 2nd generation of Tong Cheng. Highly recommended.
