Restoran J&I Ikan Bakar - Restaurant in Cukai, Malaysia
Great place. Traditional food. Small interesting tour is provided. You need to know special code phrase to get in :)
Very authentical place 👌🤩. We really enjoyed the live music there, dishes and the wine. Food tools, plates and cups gives you different experience
Elegant place with special dishes and value for money prices. The kitchen was desperately slow when we were there but whatever arrived on our table was delicious.
Absolutely incredible restaurant/bar right underneath the Maidan. Stylish design, friendly staff, no non-sense menu...Great local cocktails (no need to be afraid they dont serve the "classics"). Collection of memorabilia of the past several decades decorates the walls.
Very special place, worth visting!Hiden restaurant asking you to tell sercret passwors in order to enter. Friendly staff and AMAZINGLY tasty food! Totally worth in order to try traditional Ukrainian cuisine in very good quality.
I would truly not recommend this place. We ordered two Chicken Kiev’s as a main and baked potatoes with mushrooms as a side, vorschmack, fried sausage as a starter. Only eatable was the vorschmack. Chicken Kiev have a taste of the horseradish, sausages were dry as hell and mushrooms which was served with potatoes were bitter. We informed waitress about situation and after 20 minutes she came back with the answer that Chicken Kiev was without horseradish but they are using Dijon mustard, but nevertheless it’s not a standard ingredient for that dish. We was forced to pay full price even when more than of the half was untouched.
Very interesting place with creative idea behind it. Except unique way of entering to the local, they serve quite delicious food for good price-quality ratio. I really recommend this place.
Wonderful secret restaurant...Wonderful idea ! Looks fancy. The food is not bad !My bun it was maybe from the day before.. it was so hard ! Thats the reason of 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟Wonderful food...
It is a very unique place with a rich history and philosophy of existence behind. We enjoyed their cheap menu and quite specifically served. You can find a variety of Ukrainian modern cuisine served in very specific dishes. The design is very special and it impresses you leaving you with a lasting impact on what it means to locals. It is kind of difficult to find it being underground, you need to use a lift to get to it and use their password to get access. The password it is written almost everywhere there as a motto. Take a try being in Kiev! You cannot miss this place!
Completely don’t get the hype of this place. Average-tasting food, no value for money unless one wants to say the magic password out loud and be served overcooked duck with cold/already dry potatoes. Green borscht was decent though.During our short trip to Kyiv I found a vast number of better spots for dinner.
I couldnt find the place first..But thats because its All part of the theme! A secret restaurent the pops up in the metro hallway! It was so cool, and the food was spot on. Price typically for kyiv very low, very sweet waiter and in general a place you Will remember. Had the trout, it was so fresh and tasty
A lot of hype about this place so I had to visit. It is cool, but the food was okay. Had the beef tartare, the homemade sausages and the sour cherry Vareniki. The vareniki was the best of all three. Service was slow at best and the place was empty. I think there are much better options in Kyiv. I wanted to scratch it off my bucket list and wont go back. Food presentation was very attractive though.
The atmosphere and decoration is very nice. They ask for a password when entering. The password is “BORITESYA E POBORYTE”. The meals are delicious. Prices are on average in Kiev. I recommend it to anyone who comes to Kiev.
For obvious reasons I had chicken kiev, it was absolutely delicious, the presentation was excellent, the other guests I was with had duck in fruit sauce and honey chicken, we shared a starter of bread with camambere and that was also delicious, it was fantastic value for money, I would highly recommend eating here.
Super delicious ukrainian cuisine.interesting interior and design connected to ukrainian history. Professional staff.Highly recommended.
Amazing place! We had kiev kotlets and they were the best we had in town. Also we ordered some salads and all of those were delicious. Cocktails were great too. 👌
Interesting place in the heart of Kyiv (Maydan Nezalezhmosti). Hard to find. Need to know password to get in. Ask for the excursion if visiting, beautiful girls will tell you (English/Ukrainianabout latest Ukrainian history/revolutions and show different sides and halls of the restaurant. Good Ukrainian dishes. Real varenyky (must try). Popular place for tourists/locals/foreigners. Pets friendly.
Restaurant area is really big and nice. Service is perfect and food... omg, beautifully presented and very tasty. Prices are very friendly :)
Great place which was recommended to us by a guide. Good idea, great architecture. Nice gimmicks, dont be put off by the entrance. Staff very friendly, large selection of food and drinks. Very tasty and highly recommended.
I like their borsh soup , it s good (but my mama can cook better haha)Chicken kyiv, my bf said is sosoI ordered catfish, it’s also okayCheese with bread is also okayEnvironment is very chill , like it!
Amazing restaurant. Welcoming staff and showing us around and explaining the history. Food was very tasty and authentic. Highly recommends this restaurant to every traveller to visit.
The food had its ups and downs. Homemade sausage and varenykys were quite good, but unfortunately the oxtail as my main dish was very tough and chewy, also really lacking any seasoning. The interior and the overall concept with the password etc. were quite interesting, definitely something different.
I absolutely loved this place. My very favorite place to eat in all of Ukraine. Try everything. Everything is delicious. And its all so inexpensive. And the atmosphere and ambiance just puts it all together.
Really impressive place in unexpected place! Our way to entrace was very exciting. You can only come with password! Asl for the tour inside, they will show you all different areas and will tell some fact from Ukrainian history. Food is super good as well as service. Very much recommended!
Everything from atmosphere to music and staff and food is just perfect.Right now I am devouring the T bone steak and its really a piece of culinary art.I think this is one of the best steaks after the one Inhad in Sau Paulo. Juicy and tender to the core.
A clever idea to have the hidden element but not quite as secret on our arrival. The password was printed on the bar and the barman appeared to be about to open the door before we even tried to participate in giving passwords etc. However once inside it was a nice atmosphere, the prices were very reasonable and I got to try Borscht for the first time and Kiev style Chicken Kiev
Lovely restaurant with quite the experience! It is really hard to find especially if you arent local. I will tell that it is hidden inside the mall and getting in requires a password. How cool is that?! This place seems busy so you might want to book in advance. Food was delicious and cocktails seemed very strong as per usual in Kiev. I would say borsch (soupis a must have here. Recommend!
We visited here on a recommendation (and after receiving the password!). Upon entering you are taken through a secret wall and given a tour of the restaurant. There are lots of very interesting artefacts on display. The rest of the restaurant tour is a secret but it is interesting. Staff were pleasant and the food was mediocre. The steak was quite chewy and my side of potatoes was bland - Id recommend ordering something other than the steak. Prices were on the expensive side for Kyiv.
A truly unique experience at this Ukrainian restaurant! Everything is Ukrainian (even the wine and cheeseand it offers a wide selection of Ukrainian dishes. I opted for the chicken Kiev as a main which was beautifully cooked and served with a creamy mash and pea purée. The decor of the restaurant is very interesting and you can see the chefs working hard in the kitchen. Also, the atmosphere was made even better with a live music performance from a very talented female singer and band. The staff were very friendly and attentive and I wholeheartedly recommend this place for anybody who’s visiting Kiev.
Beauty, joy, celebration. Recommended stewed goat, oysters end sturlet. Steak was fine, but dont know if grass fed
The restaurant is interesting and well recommended by local guides. However, it is not secret or hidden. During the tours the guides showed this place several times. So there is no thrill to find it or get in (you can find the password on internet easily). We were on Saturday evening, so the place was crowded (I guess you need a reservation because we had booked the table earlier), there was nice live music, but not too loud which is very good. The prices of traditional dishes are low (3-5€but if you prefer grilled meat prepare to pay more than 10 € for a dish. Everythig was very tasty, waitress was pleasant, all good. I surely recommend to visit.
Phenomenal! The food was incredible. The setting was even better! Great service, impressive cocktails, awesome theme. Will return for sure!
An upbeat and engaging spirit, an homage to the recent civil resistance movements, and a wide range of the finest Ukrainian dishes from land and sea, served with near-perfect simplicity, sumptuous portions and reasonable prices. Five stars all the way: if we fight, we will win!!
Cozy place for visiting Kiev first time. Food itself was tasty, so on the whole 5/5 stars. Portion is regular one, not huge nor small 4/5 stars. Surrounding provides loft like feeling, attractive and cozy - 5/5 stars. Service fast, even though dishes could be served for everybody around one table at once 4/5 stars. In total my score is 5 stars for this place.
Amazing environment, very cosy and modern interior. Very friendly and professional wait staff. Great place, in the very centre of the town. The food is AMAZING. we tried the original Chicken Kiev which was awesome and the green pea puree (as we think of itwas absolutely delicious, so good. The other dish is Chicken with honey sauce and mashed potatoes with truffle on the side. The sauce had a good kick and the dish was just so delicious! House beer was very smooth and light. The prices are really really good. Will come back to try something else!Update: came back to try red borsch and verenyky and as expected was really delicious! Superb place!
It takes only 5-10 minutes wait during weekday ~20:00. Food, drinks, services and atmosphere are very nice. Prices are fair but not expensive for such place. The staffs speak well English and give great food recommendations for customers. Would definitely recommend to eat here if you are visiting Kyiv.
We came with a group of 12 joyfull people from the Netherlands to have dinner at the last barricade. First we were amazed by the misterious way to find our way inside. Finally friendly people showed us the way to our tables. Our orders were taken by a friendly, helpfull, beautfull waitress and our orders were perfectly managed. The meat and side-dishes were very tastfull and the beer was also great. We all loved spending time here and it is great value for money. I would recommend this place to everybody who is looking for a place to eat!
The Last Barricade is famous restaurant that is placed in Globus Trading center, under Majdan Nezałeżnosti, in Kiev city center. Stories about getting to this restaurant become a legend, because its not that obvious. Food is very nice, especially traditional Ukrainian red borscht or banesz. As a dessert we took cheesecake which was pretty amazing! Prices are higher than average, but still not that high comparing to other high class restaurants. In restaurant there is small exhibition that tells story of a revolution that happened in 2014, staff can also make short tour on request. Very nice place to visit, when you are in Kiev. I highly recommend :)How to get there: You need to find elevator with "OB" description. This will lead you to restaurant level, with reception. If you dont have reservation, sometimes it will be needed to wait (especially in larger groups).
Authentic Ukrainian place which promotes freedomHighly professional staff, interesting presentationHighlighting motives from Ukrainian history, it makes really great authentic atmosphere.Delicious food, great cheese optionLot of local crafted foodHighly recommend for everyone !
Excellent place with locally sourced ingredients, friendly staff, great cocktails, and delicious food. This was #1 of my placees to eat after 5 days of Kyiv. Definitely make time for this and ask for the tour.
Very nice restaurant under the Maidan Square. Modern but traditional ukrainian cuisine. Perfect service. Its kind of a museum of revolutions so the waitress shows you their small exhibition in the beginning. Prices are not cheap but this place is so good.... I can only recommend it!
My first time here. The reviews were good. Took me a while to find, had to ask a couple of people. Part of the fun is finding it as it’s very well hidden! Worth finding though. It’s quirky. Good good and drink for a very reasonable price. Service initially slow. We were tucked away and got forgotten. Once I’d ordered, service flowed better. Had to send side of veg back as cold although main was hot and tasty. Worth a visit if you’re in Kyiv. Do take the time to look for it!
Super mysterious place, almost impossible to find, but I promise its worth looking for. I wont spoil the surprise. Super authentic, hospitality is top notch. The food selection is huge and everything was delicious, especially the cocktails. If youre in Kiev and want a proper Ukrainian experience, this is it! As good as perfect.
Theres some hurdles to get to this place, but it is sooooo worth it.The food is delicious (that chicken Kiev...the staff are very nice and accomodating, and the cocktails are very well done. The vareniki were really good, as well as the Ukrainian sausage with onions. Its a very popular place, so go early or be prepared to wait a bit to be seated. Luckily they have a bar by the entrance where you cannwait with a drink.
I found this restaurant by accident as it’s kind of hidden. It has an interesting decor and historical items from the revolution. The reception person takes you through the various parts of the restaurant to explain before seating you. The food was very tasty especially the chicken Kiev. The service was very attentive and friendly, and the servers spoke English. A live musician played accordion from 20:00 and that was a nice addition to the meal. I thought prices were very good for the quality of food and service
The Apple pear lemonade tastes like an apple jolly rancher with a hint of pear and fizz. Pumpernickle bread, with hot cheese and blueberry jam, a taste combo that is unexpectedly delightful. You must know the password to gain entry. See my photos. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A must visit location in Kyiv. Will definitely return if ever in town again.
The secret pub which is not so secret anymore (thanks to internet), especially on weekends then curious various age foreigner groups are hoarding the pub. The atmosphere/design is cool, local foods and beverages are higher than average quality, but the prices - inadequately high compared to citys general pricing (pure tourist trap). Best Kiev cutlet i had though.
A funky restaurant with an awesome story hidden in the main mall underneath Independence Square. You have to take the elevator at the food court to a semi level, where you exit right into a gift/craft shop. There you have to ask the girl in the shop about tables (you better reserve ahead). She opens up the back wall and lets you in...Wont spoil the experience, it is pretty good by any standards. Not cheap compared to other Kiev restaurants, but pretty reasonable by western standards.
The food is so delicious! They have impeccable service. The server kept the table clean and clear of all unused items, which is a huge pet-peeve of mine. I am so happy to have found this little gem. Borsch was off the chain. The Chicken w/honey sauce was also delicious. Was surprised to see poutine on the menu, but it was so yummy! Dont pay any attention to those ignorant reviews. You know the ones.
Racist place. Ukrainian language doesnt sound Ukrainian anymore... more like polish.... they dont respect Russian speaking majority of Ukrainian population... Im from Kiev, obviously speak Russian..didnt feel comfortable there..About food.6 month ago was much better food. Now the rib eye stake wasnt even a rib eye....Deserts are nice and tasty.Should truck vareniky, also very tasty
