Was very fortunate to have been treated to a 7 course tasting menu by my partner during my birthday weekend trip to Reykjavik. Every course was superb. Would highly recommend Restó if you visit the city. Hopefully I can go back one day.

Found this restaurant when it was the only food outlet open at the time we were hungry but were delightfully surprised by what we found. The restaurant is eclectic yet cozy and has a variety of nooks and booths for intimate meals. Although it was busy we weren’t bothered by other diners. The food was a stand out winner from entrees to mains and the recommended wines.Try Resto, you won’t be disappointed.

A hidden gem in Reykjavik!! After I discovered Resto it has been my absolute first choice and top recommendation to friends when it comes to choose a restaurant for a great lunch out or a real dinner experience. Food is always sooo delicious and very tastefully served. Fair Prices. Service is one of a kind!

Lovely intimate setting, super friendly staff and delicious food on a menu that I believe changes often. Would really recommend for a fine dining experience, it is expensive but then everything in Iceland is. Great wine choices too.

Outstanding food quickly served. Ling and porbeagle (a type of shark, I was toldwere excellent. Cost was no more than wed have paid at home in the U.S., especially given that tipping is not expected.

My wife and I had a wonderful time here. The food was spectacular with a local twist. The atmosphere was calm, and perfect for conversation without feeling too formal. I loved all of the tales on the local fish cuisine, which were absolutely wonderful and delightful. If you are struggling with a starter- get the fish soup. The soup isn’t quite “fishy” as it is delightfully warm, creamy and flavorful with a hint of the sea. I HIGHLY recommend this place- it is a must stop for any newcomers. I would add that you likely need reservations as the place is not very large. Just call or email ahead- they are very accommodating and easy to work with.

The fish soup was bright and flavorful but it was the lamb dish that really knocked my socks off — it was the best lamb I’ve ever had.

Incredibly good meal. The 5 plates provides 3 starters, a mane, and desert. Every plate was delicious, especially the soup. I would recommend the dog ice cream for desert, out of this world delicious! Friendly and helpful staff as well.

My wife and I ordered salted codfish in a light beurre blanc sauce with potatoes and root vegetables. Just delicious. We shared an amazing starter: scallop ceviche with a shrimp mousse. Another thumbs up! 2 glasses of wine..all for less than $100. Great food for great value.

Limited menu of cod and two other types of fish, including Tusk and Plaice, lamb and a vegetarian option. However, the appetizers and mains are so well prepared and seasoned that it is still an incredible experience. The ambiance is lovely. It leans toward the romantic side. You will not he disappointed in anything you choose from this menu.

Good food ideas but poor execution. The fact that the only people in the restaurant where all from the US was probably a good indicator.Olive oil at the table was actually rancid. And the oil used through the various dishes was also the largest problem. Fish was well cooked but the sauces where bland or muddy in flavor. The lamb was over cooked. They have some interesting ideas...

We went there 1h before the closing and the restaurant was still full. I recommend the fish soup and the baked cod with shellfish... great food for a very decent price. One recommendation i would do is the increase the size of the wine list... a must go in Reykjavik

I was able to be sat right away, even at 7 pm dinner rush. My god, the food was to die for. I got the goat cheese appetizer: the sweetness of the roots and nuts perfectly balanced the savory taste of the cheese, which was rich and creamy. For my entree, I got the salmon. Now, Im from Florida and I eat a lot of fish, but this was one of the best fish dishes Ive ever had. Salty and it had carmelized apples with it. For dessert I got the chocolate cake, which was more like a brownie but still delicious, with strawberries and cream. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, I didnt at all feel rushed. The wait staff was so kind. And, although the prices were a bit high, $67 for the three dishes I ordered, it was definitely worth it because the food was so well prepared and flavorful. I would come here again in a heartbeat.

Great tasty food at a reasonable price. The restaurant is right by the sea front so offer nice view for those lucky enough to sit by the window. You cannot go wrong with fish of that. So glad this was recommended by our hotel receptionist.

Cosy little restaurant with an amazing ambience! Great service and food was beautiful. We had the lamb and ling fish and both were cooked to perfection. Complimentary fresh soft foccacia bread and olive oil was so good we had two serves! We also had some red wine which completed the meal. Book prior to visiting to avoid disappointment!

What a nice find in Reykjavik! A lovely small and cozy restaurant. The food was fresh and quite amazing - the menu was creative. I recommend the five course menu a la chef which offers two options - seafood and lamb. The staff was friendly and attentive. Reservations are required.

Amazing family-owned restaurant with a small, cozy atmosphere! We ended up staying at the restaurant well after close because we were lost in conversation. After apologizing for over extending our stay, the host and owner was delighted to hear that we enjoyed everything and insisted that no apology was necessary, as their restaurants mission was to create a home-like feeling. Could not recommend this restaurant and the owners enough, food was wonderfully prepared and a great selection of wine to pair! You simply MUST go!!

Most delicious meal Ive had. It could have been cuz we went cheap and ate over 20 hit dogs in 5 days. But this was a perfectly cooked lamb with excellent pairings seasoned exactly how it should have.

Just ordinary. The waitress was rude. We called in for a reservation at 9pm and we arrived 20 minutes early. They refused to seat us saying that it was not yet 9pm. There were plenty of empty tables at the time.We ordered the 5 course menu for both the fish and lamb. All courses were just ordinary. The fish and meat are fresh but the overall dish are rather plain. Veggies and sauces are basic. They even use store-bought marinated asian seaweed for garnish. You can pretty much get similar quality anywhere else at the same or lower price range. We had another dinner at the Old Iceland restaurant and the food there was exceptionally flavorful. In comparison , Resto is sub par with higher price. Not recommended.

The food is good overall, but the prices are really high.We had the cod (see picand the salmon and they both tasted good. They provided bread, not of superb quality but reasonable, and oil and salt to eat it with, which is welcome. The prices were however high even for Icelandic standards (over 45 eur for a single dish of lamb.. how is it possible?so that we decided to go for a single course.. maybe lowering the prices would make this cosy restaurant (very nice decoration insidemuch more attractive!

Very enjoyable meal at a very reasonable price. Had the salmon salad and lamb. The salmon salad was amazing - I put all the pieces together for each mouthful. Not sure if thats how youre supposed to eat it but it worked great! The lamb was tender, juicy, and perfectly accompanied. Great meal and great service. Sadly did not pair with any wines this particular meal, it probably would have been even better!

Great little place where locals go. Great service & outstanding food. Like everything else in Iceland it is not cheap. Everything you see pictured came to $141.37 us. So depending what you are used to the prices are ok or high. At least you will get a great meal for that price.

The food was good quality but bland. The fish soup had a hint of spice but not enough to be interesting. The catfish main was well presented but poorly seasoned. The staff were functional but in no way exceptional. The best part of our meal here was the free bread they provided.

Highly recommend the 5 course option. It is the chefs choice. We went here during our honeymoon and were very well taken care of. They even added a little something special to our dessert at the end. The chef and staff were incredible. Even if you just have a stop over in reykjavik, please go to this restaurant. Make reservations ahead of time as the are open at 5:30p everyday. It was incredible. Very delicious.

We ordered five-courses meal, one for fish and the other for lamb. Both meals were truly amazing, even out of my expectation. I especially like their fish soup, creamy texture with strong flavour. You can also find some fish chunks in the soup. Totally fresh taste. I love it! The price for -courses menu is a bit pricey, but its Iceland. You should know its high cost of living. Hence, I would say if you can afford the price, this restaurant is the right place to try fresh and elegant seafood meals in Reykjavik.

You MUST try this restaurant! for £130 we sat down to a 7 course tasting menu but instead of expecting little tasting portion sized plates we were served up full size dishes! and every bit tasted out of this world!yes you could say its expensive dinner for two and its not even Michelin starred, however it might as well be as the food was sublime! book in advance and you will be seated in a very romantic dinner atmosphere and friendly waitresses. Highly recommended!

Great restaurant experience — from the atmosphere, to the service, to the food.Atmosphere:Stepping into the restaurant felt like a step into a different space, especially with the weather howling outside. The narrow entrance way almost forces you to be paid attention to. There’s no awkwardness in trying to figure out where to stand. The restaurant itself has a certain European village vibe with the slightly uneven wall, as if it had just been flatten. The low-hanging light guides your focus on the table, and the food on display.Service:Iceland may not be renowned for its service, but we had an impeccable service here in Restó, from the moment we walked in.Order: fresh and flavorful1. Salmon tartare: the combination of the roe with the sauce and a bite of the salmon was a burst of flavor.2. Ling: the cod-like texture goes well with the langoustine as well as the mashed potato and purée.3. Plaice: the charred skin tasted great against the tender fish. Again, great balance in the texture.Price-wise, it’s on par with almost any restaurant we have been to around the island — around 4,000 for a main course.

I never visit the same restaurant twice when traveling. But I do make exceptions, now. We absolutely loved this place. Its very understated. Typically this quality of food is accompanied with snobbier staff and higher prices. Resto is cozy and welcoming. We went though most of the menu. Its all good but the absolute highlights were the ling, the salmon tartar, fish soup and beet salad. Make a reservation now.

Resto is a delicious, cozy and kid friendly restaurant with excellent service! We had the sautéed garlic scallops and cod pastry to start. For the main course we enjoyed the lamb, the panfried salmon and the ling. They even put together a special kids meal of fish, apples cucumbers and mashed potatoes! All the meals were exceptional! The service was the best in town, they kept our water glasses full and attended to all our needs. Enjoy your trip to Restó!!

We had the 5-course menu, with 3 appetizers, 1 main course with choices of lamb or fish, and then 3 choices of dessert.Started with a delicious fish soup, a crunchy fish dish, a game dish (goose for us that evening), all very delicious. I chose fish as main, very light and good proportion, my friend had lamb, which was also excellent. The dessert choices was vanilla ice cream / raspberry sauce panna cotta / chocolate cake. We didnt try the chocolate cake but others were not heavy and both excellent. The only downside is, if youre very hungry, you might need to keep asking for bread (good bread though), which was our condition that evening as a traveler who just climbed the glacier during the day. But I guess if under normal condition, it would be a very well-proportioned and very well-priced meal.

Our party of 4 had the wonderful experience of eating here last week. We were in Reykjavik for the night and I had read the good reviews. The ambiance in the restaurant was nice and cosy. Our server was very helpful in explaining the choices on the menu and even recommending a good wine pairing. I can definitely say it was worth coming here. We all opted to try the tasting menu because we wanted to try as much as possible. The fish soup came first and it was delicious! Never thought I would love a fish soup so much. Even my partner who isnt very keen on soups loved it! If you get one appetiser make sure its that. Three of us had the fish menu and it came with some lobster too. Very nicely done! One of our party had the lamb and it was very good as well. I was content with my choice but wish I could have had both! Iceland is famous for its seafood and lamb so either menu is an excellent choice. For couples I recommend taking both and sharing. Each menu has 3 appetisers, the lamb or fish main, and a dessert of choice. Try to make reservations earlier in advance as the place books up quickly in the evening. We will be back!
