Restaurante Tierra Mar - Seafood restaurant in Liberia, Costa Rica
If you’re in Liberia and then you’re looking for a sea food restaurant so I highly recommend this restaurant so the food and drinks and snacks even the service is amazing.. I’ll definitely come by soon. 🤙🤙
Visited here once for lunch after seeing good reviews but food was disappointing. We ordered a Peruvian style ceviche, fried calamari, seafood rice, and shrimp pasta. Both rice and pasta were way too overcooked to the point they had no texture. Fish in the rice was so overcooked that it had the texture of chicken breast. The batter of calamari wouldnt stay on calamari, it fell right off every time we picked up a piece. Out of all dishes we ordered, the rice (Peruvian style arroz con mariscoswas the worst. I couldnt even finish half of it.
Nice atmosphere, great food - you get wheat you pay.
Best Peruvian ceviche Ive had in a long time!
Good food, attractive place
My family loved dining on the outdoor terrace. We recommend the classic Peruvian ceviche, and the frozen juices - watermelon and lime were both delicious!
Delicious and not overpriced. I highly recommend the shrimps & sea foods soup con leche it is AWESOME, generous portion and easily feeds two.
The highlights of this place for us were the vibe, the ambiance, and jazz music playing in the background. So many others have commented on the juices and the ceviches, we agree!
Went there, high expectations, but it was not as showed in the pictures and the publishments in google, it was a waste of time and money
Good food and service. It’s a very good restaurant, but there are better in Liberia.
Terra Mar had a nice comfortable decor, a broad and creative selection of menu choices, generous portions, and first rate quality in taste and presentation.I would have rated Terra Mar 5+ stars on all the above. However the wait staff was the weak link in this dining experience, only delivering the minimum levels of service.Still, we will certainly return to Terra Mar on our next visit to Liberia.
Delicious food and attentive staff. I am vegan and the pasta dish I had was one of the most delicious I have ever had. The bar, per my fellow travelers, was well-stocked with an array of mixologist recipes with native juices as added flavor. The restaurant is immaculate and nicely decorated. Highly recommended.
Loved this meal. In three months in Costa Rica this was one of our favorites. We tried multiple types of ceviche and had a whole fried fish. If youre looking for a meal in town before or after the airport I would go here
Dishes were absolutely perfect! Every time we visit Liberia this is a must for dinner. We love the frozen lemonade it is made to perfection. We try it every restaurant and something is always missing, but here they make it just right. Everything tastes fresh and the Aji sauce on the sides adds that little kick
Very friendly staff, service was excellent and the food incredibly tasty. The only minor inconvenience is that you have to park your car on the street.
Delicious seafood! I had a dish with octopus, shrimp, fish and yucca in a mixed sauce Everything was very fresh and decent portion sizes as well.
Amazing, very special food, great service, highly recommend! So far the best place in Liberia
This is the place we take friends and family when they visit! Probably the all-around best restaurant weve eaten at in four months in Liberia. There isnt a bad or even average thing on the menu; Ive never seen such a wide variety of choices of ceviche, all of them delicious. The staff is quite friendly and attentive—Brahmin has been our server multiple times and hes terrific. Our first experience here was New Years Eve and tho the place was PACKED, service was great, the food was excellent, and one staff person was very helpful in getting a drunk local indigent person away from us gringos.
Good times in Tierra Mar. Nice Sea food, good drinks. Pura Vida!! Ill be back!!
The Ceviche is excellent. It was Soo good that me an my wife went back the next day to have lunch again. Prices are very good for the quality of the food. The staff is super friendly and I will probably stop here every single time I am around liberia
Great dinning experience!! My family and I wanted to have local ceviche before leaving Costa Rica. I have to say that this was the best place to have our last meal before our departure. The food, people, and service were all amazing, reinforcing our experience here. Definitely try the margaritas they’re delicious!! Muchas Gracias!! Pura Vida!
Great food but service was not as great. I asked for an imperial and they brought a modelo which wouldnt be a big deal the first time but the second time I ordered a pilsn they bought a different beer. Then it took a long while to flag down a waiter to ask for our check and when we finally found someone to help us it took another 15 minutes to pay
We had a lunch for nine people. The Chef/Owner was fabulous. His waiters were all wonderful people. The meal (Parrot Fish and Red Snapperwas prepared four different ways, with each coming out separately. It was by far the best dinning experience and the greatest tasting food I have ever had..!
The food and the service were excellent. My wife and I had lunch while visiting Liberia. They were very accommodating to non-Spanish speakers and we really enjoyed our meal. The people at this restaurant were very professional and you could tell that they took a great deal of pride in what they do. The results were food that was perfectly prepared with a great deal of attention to detail. My only regret is that I cannot dine there more frequently.
Came in at noon on a Friday, fiesta of the Birhen de los angeles so the place was kinda empty but service was quick and food was more than delicious. The server (Dylanwas very accommodating despite admitting his english was not very good (even though it was good). They served complementary plantain chips and soup. Seafood was very fresh andvery delicious. Every bite was worth it. 10/10 would highly recommend
We came here after the food at the hotel was disappointing. It was rather expensive, but worth everything! Delicious sea food, good service and well cooked food. Highly recommend!
Terrific staff and recommendations by Omar, our waiter. Very friendly to foreigners, wonderful food and esp the ceviche, great high end food. Easy parking, good pricing for the quality. Lovely ceviche.
Terrific Peruvian fusion type food. Fresh fish and ceviche was superb. Definitely would visit again when in Liberia with friends. Good service and attentive staff.
Menu is in Spanish. But waiter was very helpful. Great food. Fun place.
Service attentive, ceviche not the best I’ve tried although they have lots of different types to try. We had lunch and the outside area had minimal breeze so maybe more pleasant in evenings
Superior ceviche experience the Peruvian way, well-prepared fish and seafood selections, super friendly staff --if just a little slow. Overall a terrific choice. No need to look anywhere else in Liberia for an excellent dining experience.
The place was clean, music no so loud and nice, the ceviche I had was excellent, will want it again, server was friendly, the place was empty, I wonder why, cause food I found it very tasty, and prices were fine too
Asked for the fish GRILLED, gave us fried, told them we wanted it grilled, they put the fried fish on the grill, we said we want only grilled. Waiter said "oh my god", as if we were the reason he messed up.The marlin, yucca and soup were bomb though.
The restaurant is pleasant, servers are nice and polite, the plate I ordered was the chalaco fish, it was very tasty! I really liked it! when I arrived the place was crowded, it took a while to get the food but thats understandable. I definitely will recommend this restaurant.
Dont even know where to start- We had to ask for the menus they never came- First waiter didnt even know the menu, second one was a great person and did know the menu and helped out with bar problems- Terrible coordination of staff- Got food before my mojito (waited for more then 30min for it(not joking after 20min didnt care)- Then I canceled it ordered a glass of red wine and got served in white wine glass so it was less amount of red wine (0robaly because I canceled the mojito because they didnt even start making it (so they tried to give me normal mojito (250mland the one I ordered was a strawberry and 500ml one)- "Mariscada" which first place I been where it has no lobster and no entire fish it was just a fillet of fish and one shrimp- Ribeye Angus certified was kinda thin and has no side dish only the meat by its self and have tried way better ones then that- What surprised me the most was the manager a very rude person we told him the problems we had he said Ill give you bosses number if you want, I dont care (he did not care about it at all)- Thought manager were to solve problems so the boss doesnt have to worry guess that also says a lot about the boss if he has that manager*Never going back again*Terrible experience dont recommend at all(Foto is the "super mariscada" and the left corner is the Ribeye)
Delicious food great service, but the ceviche we ordered was supposed to be the big portion and the small portion seemed to. Be bigger. The rest everything perfect and totally recommended!
The food was delicious especially the Mediterranean Fish Fillet in Foil Packets which was superb, the atmosphere and service ok. The only complain is that the restaurant in located right in front of a very busy road, so it is pretty impossible to have a quiet and relaxed time.
This was one of the finest seafood meals I’ve had in Costa Rica. The fresh catch was Red Snapped with shrimp, muscles and calamari. The side we think was a mashed plantain blend and it was amazing. We started with their ceviche. It was wonderful with Mahi Mahi. They also gave us a sample of their seafood based soup which had great spice to it.Our waiter brought us some hot sauce and seemed a little worried about the gringos and hot sauce. He made it himself and once again it was the best. The drinks were great. We each had a mojito. On a side note they sell drinks to go. They even have a special machine to seal covers on the drinks to go at the bar. They filter their tap water so don’t pay for the bottled. The only downfall was they didn’t accept American Express. It’s in a fairly busy area of town. But we found street parking close by. We loved it.
The best food we had in La Fortuna. The sea bass and snapper were wonderful . Small restaurant, big service, reasonably priced.
My wife and I ate there when we were in CR and all of the food was great but the Ceviche was absolutely the best! The service was good and we talked to the owner a little and his enthusiasm was terrific.
The staff was very friendly, food was really good, especially the ceviche! price is good for the great quality food you get. i absolutely recommend it!
Great food with super friendly service. They went above and beyond to give us a great meal. We came back for a second visit on our way to the airport!
Amazing food. They gave us first class service. We even made a special trip before heading to the airport and they accommodated our schedule so we could get to the airport on time. Highly recommend if you are stopping in Liberia.
My first restaurant in Costa Rica. The Ceviche was amazing. The atmosphere i nice. The staffs speak english and they were very friendly. Definitely one of my best aeafood restaurant in Liberia.
Did not even eat anything but these guys floored me with their service. Mint lemonades are awesome. Simply fantastic food. We did not even order food from the menu. They just created one for the kids on fly. Then ofcourse they pulled. A red snapper dish for me on fly.
Oh my goodness! Friendly servers and AMAZING food! Had the special Red Snapper and the steak.
Waiter was friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere is great. We sat outside, but under a bamboo roof w/ perfect lighting. Food was very fresh and delicious. Free sample appetizer of fish soup, too. All 4 family members were very pleased. One minor glitch- Waiter got busy and forgot about the coffee we ordered afterward. We got it eventually, and there was no charge.
Recomended by car rental (Budgetemployee. Great food and yes the chefs red snapper special as well as the ceviche were great. Service and atmosphere were on par with the food...
Excellent food and service. The grilled whole red snapper stuffed with garlic shrimp was amazing! Very nice atmosphere inside.
Read the raving reviews on Tripadvisor! This is the place where to eat in Liberia. Your money will never go further in Costa Rica than here. Quiet outside seating with warm lighting and nice background music. Innovative and high quality. Ceviches and special fish dishes are the way to go. Let the waiter guide you in Spanish.
