Restaurante Oceano in San Juan
Description
Privilege
Calil was great tonight. Great recommendations, and worked well under pressure with a difficult large group. Thank you Calil!
MoreThe view is to die for. The pina coladas were very tasty but the food was okay. Not the best food but the vibes were immaculate.
MoreReceived 5 star experience within 5 days from morning to night. It was a breathtaking family vacation with a gorgeous view facing the poolside and beach areas. The buffet served hot breakfast. Perfert location.
MorePrice, doesn’t match the food you get or the quality you are expecting. The food does not reflect the price.Service is slow but good.
MoreThe breakfast buffet is amazing and the pastries (cooked on premiseswill wow you. Friendly service as with the rest of this resort. Loved this place.
MoreMy sister and I had a great experience tonight at Ola! Our waiter, Calvin, was amazing and very attentive to our table, giving us great food recommendations throughout our meal. I ordered the chicken club and it was very tasty. I’d recommend this restaurant.
MoreBeautiful setting. Unfortunately misses mark on standards for food and service. Not great option for breakfast. Buffet was very basic for $45. Ala carte options for brunch and lunch were lacking any quality and selection.
MoreBeautiful restaurant with good food and service!
The coconut French toast was the BEST French toast I’ve ever eaten in all of the small 19 years of my life. I love the mojitos as well. Try the mango.
MoreReally enjoyed the breakfast and the view is BEAUTIFUL
Food is terrible here. I would certainly not recommend anyone eat here. Service is great but food is really bad
MoreExcellent Service & Food--with a Beautiful Ocean View !! If ever in San Juan you must experience Ola Ocean Front Bistro. Its also good for the family; casual dress, friendly and welcoming environment. We enjoyed our visit
MoreFood was good! I ordered the quesadillas. Was surprise my food didn’t take very long like the other restaurants did in San Juan.
MoreGreat service, food was good and the ocean views were amazing! Food is pricey.
Food took extra long and wasnt even that good the pizza was like a wet cracker with mystery cheese, the steak was over cooked, the sliders were way too salty and the the chicken breast had shattered bone and on top of all this the food was 400$
MoreThe place itself looks amazing and has a wonderful view. However, the food was not what I expected given the price. Additionally, the lentils on my plate were a bit uncooked for my taste. The service was ok, the waiter was nice. Probably wont be going back.
MoreThe Vanderbilt Burger is delicious. The drinks are good. & the view is beautiful. The only downside is the poor service.
MoreWent for lunch with a view. Did not disappoint. I started with a tasty juice. Had a passion fruit mojito (yummy). Plantain soup. And the empanada like pastry (can’t remember the name). I got some Puerto Rican fare and chilled before the airport. I recommend.
MoreWe are staying at the Vanderbilt. We ate here several times. The service was always slow and the food was mediocre for the price. The views were amazing and they have bottomless mimosas on Sundays, if you get their $45 buffet (which isn’t the best). There’s a lot of better restaurants for the same price that have phenomenal service and phenomenal food.
MoreFor our anniversary, the staff went above and beyond to create a private dinner on the sky deck overlooking the ocean. The food was delicious with a special menu created for the vending. The ambiance was amazing eating candlelight over the waves. However, the service made the vending perfection. Yomirie was spectacular and became part of a beautiful memory with her attention to every detail. Thank you for this gorgeous experience.
MoreIf I could give 0 stars I would. To start off I called and spoke to the hostess at the restaurant and she told me I didnt need a reservation for breakfast. Great, she said they were taking walkins. I told her Im staying in Old San Juan & would be there in few. Got to the restaurant no more than 30 minutes after I talk to her. I pulled up, I had to call the valet guy over seeing he just ignored us walking by several times helping others parked behind us. "Shouldve got the clue then" he looked in the car and said oh hi. I told him we was here for breakfast and he said rudely if ur not stay here u cant eat here. Didnt even ask..."Wow, really b/c thats not what the hostess said or your website." So I called into the hotel she said no outside people. Then I asked for a manager and was told she would transfer me to the hostess instead. Who then told me a different story that there was no walkins until 12. I reminded her who I was and she replied... yes oh uh oh sorry walkins only for guest. I reminded her I asked this and she just responded sorry. Never ever will I return. In fact I canceled my Dinner reservations for my sister-in-laws birthday. I DO NOT want to be at a place that clearly profiles u, rude & snooty. My money real good and Im happy to take my business where its appreciated.
MoreNot a place for a special occasion. I wanted to take my soon to be fiancé here for our special night. To prepare i tried for two weeks to speak to someone there. After calling and emailing numerous times with no response, I decided to go somewhere else. I decided to give the restaurant a second chance because the photos look amazing, but this time for a date night during our stay in San Juan. The food was waaay overpriced (in comparison to the rest of the restaurants in San Juan), the beach view is not as nice as I hoped, and behind us in the pool were kids splashing each other while chasing one another with foam sticks. Although, the interior seating does have a gorgeous ambiance i still would not recommend Ola Bistro for a special occasion.
MoreThe worst place we dined in all of Puerto Rico! You would think a hotel of this standard would have a fabulous cafe, they do not!! The server, Hector, was lackluster at best. The good: a mojito, a small container of guacamole and fries. The rest was poor! The pizza had an awful flavor and the chicken quesadilla had stringy chicken that I would not even serve my cat! I phoned to report the poor service and poor food. I was connected to a man named Julio, who just said, No! I was then passed onto a voicemail.Hector did not once offer more water or ask how the food was. Perhaps he knew it was dire!!!
MoreDue to Covid this place was not what it used to be. The food was awful had a shorten menu. The service was so slow. The restaurant was practically empty. I had rave about this to my girlfriend and it was a major bust. Hopefully next time the food would be better and the menu items will have more of a variety.
MoreLunch there , busy , we asked for outdoor but they only let us indoor ,We agreed , sit &, we order pizza & wedge salad both without bacon , need 25 min to have our food , Here we go , for wedge salad , blue cheese is old & good quality , I love bake pumpkin & toast of cashews , yet lettuce as not as crispy expected & a bit dry ,dressing is less & ask for more & we happy to pour , pizza thin crust is good but I dunno I prefer thin with more gluten inside & caramelized garlic & mushroom truffle are so good , happy to choose , & they have pickled chilis in vinegar& herbs , really good to put in salad or eat with meal , Ola may has one of best view in Condado beach & its make me happy to sit & enjoy view while having our lunch , oh service are good, its worth to try , hopefully they could fast their food preparation & improve more for salad
MoreI had in-room dining with Ola Ocean Front Bistro, and it was the best in-room dining experience Ive ever had at any hotel. I got the Hanger Steak "Encebollao" medium rare and the beef Alcapurria. Both were delicious. Flavorful. Just the right kind of spicy. I added the Hot Passion mojito and it was a really delightful meal. Compliments to the chef!
MoreTHIS PLACE WAS AMAZINGGGG! Highly recommend, not really authentic PR food but the views and service was amazing
MoreFood could have been better! Not incredibly impressed but this place is beautiful and has an even better view!!!
MoreVery nice & beautiful oceanfront dining experience offering here
Friendly staff and delicious food with a good variety of cocktails. I recommend it 9/10. Sunday they have buffet and it is worth a try!For Covid19 concerns know that (at that time10/2021employees ask for vaccine card and they do wear mask.
MoreAmazing views while we had brunch and the food and drinks are stellar!
Worst cheeseburger I’ve ever had in my life. As I read in another review here after my disappointing meal- that reviewer kind of hit it on the head; “tasted like a frozen sausage”. I would add a little bit of maple syrup flavor. And it was like leather. The salad was horrific; with a dressing that tasted like I don’t know what. And the food came all wrong. Ugh.
MoreIf youre looking for a place to have your meal by the ocean and listen to the waves than this is a great spot. The lunch options were limited but I enjoyed my meal.
MoreThe food is overpriced and trying way too hard to be innovative. The service is extremely slow. There was a giant cockroach by our table and one of the servers just squished it and picked it up like it was no big deal - I’m fairly certain she didn’t wash her hands after either. No apologies either. The wine was delivered by a nice staff member and the view is lovely. Save your money.
MoreAmazing experiance for a Thanksgiving breakfast. It was one of the onlybplaces that were open for that date. We could not have made a great decision. The breakfast menu is short and sweet, with one page to cover all. Defitnly try the French toast with that wonderful pancake syrup. The egg white omelet in the skillet was very flavorful and healthy option. The service was of excellence and very attentive. We would definitely go back for the buffet on the regular weekend 😋.
MoreWaiter was excellent, the staff are attentive. We were only there for appetizers. They were alright, but INCREDIBLY overpriced for what youre getting. A tray of 4 small empanadas a spicy margarita and a virgin Bloody Mary was $60. Everyone values things differently, but hey try it yourself. Dont say I didnt tell you so.
MoreHorrible food, not once but every time I come to this restaurant every 2-3 months. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because of the view and the service. I ordered pizza before-it was dry and nasty…..I ordered eggs and French toast for brunch in past….it looked and tasted like a cheap diner..dry and soggy…this time I said, u can’t screw up a burger and this place has proven that u can! It tasted like frozen sausage….disgusting. Anyway, I’m not getting any food there ever.
MoreExcellent atmosphere, Food, most spectacular view this place is top tier. My server was Edwin he was so hospitable & treated me extremely well! I am so pleased this place made my entire vacation!!!! Top of the line experience! 🇵🇷
MoreVery good service, and the food is great. Not the cheapest place, but I never mind paying quality for quality. Service is outstanding; I had my water glass filled up every drink. Kitchen was a little backed up and took around 30 minutes for lunch to arrive; but didnt mind because the result was worth it.
MoreSo, I wanted to at least give it a 4 star. The day we went to try Ola Ocean front Bistro they didnt have almost anything on the menu. It was a little disappointing. Also the prices of this place for quantity of your food was not worth the price. The food did taste great though and the atmosphere and ocean view was absolutely phenomenal. Our Waitress was very kind and tried to help make our experience better. So this is why I choose to keep it a five star.
MoreIncredible views! Top notch service!! Good food... but not worth the price. If youre staying at the hotel and dont want to leave, this place is fine. Otherwise, get out and go try some local food. We fortunately had free breakfast because I booked with my AMEX and it cost $50-60 for both of us and we just ordered some eggs and bacon and an omelet, nothing fancy.
MoreWe loved our meal here. Great service and food. The pizzas and dessert were excellent. As was the whole fried fish. We’ll be back.
MoreThe food was good and the staff was cooooool.. they was dancing💃.. the views was beautiful 😍. I love this place..
MoreThis place had beautiful views! If you go, I suggest you just go and enjoy the view but dont expect to enjoy the food. I went with a friend during our stay in San Juan. The menu is very limited and everything is pricey. We were excited to try it because of the great reviews and the views! We ordered monitors which were okay, a chicken quesadilla and empanada. The chicken quesadilla was not good at all! The chicken inside of it was so old and dried up tasting, we assumed it was made a few days ago. We only got 2 empanadas which were definitely not special especially for the steep price, they were the worst Ive had in San Juan. Our bill came out to be close to 100 and we got tasteless, dried up food. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
MoreGreat food and I love the hip and casual vibe this place has. The decor is so beautiful, I love that it has A/C but unobstructed views to the ocean (best of both worlds, right?).Being inside the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel gives it the additional fun perk that you can linger and hang around the hotel once you finish, which makes this a fun date spot, specially if the date goes well and you want to keep it going after dinner. :)I recently photographed an intimate wedding and they have the perfect small room for that. Nothing but love from me!
MoreMe and my friend went here for our last night in Puerto Rico after the 2020 Sanse Festival. The food was absolutely delicious and that had to have been the BEST bottled water of my life LOL The prices are a bit high but you get what you pay for and it’s totally worth every penny. Highly recommend and hope to return on my next trip to San Juan!
MoreLoved the breakfast buffet and the mango mimosa. Great variety, healthy and delicious options, amazing service. Sitting by the windows or at the patio it feels like you are cruising.Had lunch here too. It’s was good but not great. Our burger was well done and we asked for medium. Service was excellent. Nice place to sit relax and have a drink, while you imagine you are on a cruise ;).
MoreIts hard to fault Ola bistro, because it had a great ambiance, delicious food, and a view to die for. However, I did feel like it was over-priced and a bit overly formal.I got the seared tuna bowl, which was roughly $30. It was delicious, but definitely something I could get for a third of the price elsewhere.Id probably recommend trying something more locally influenced over Ola Bistro unless youre staying at the hotel, or really want that ocean view.
MoreFood: ExcellentService: AverageAtmosphere Outdoor: Below AverageIf you’re staying at the Vanderbilt Hotel in Puerto Rico definitely try Ola Oceanfront Bistro. The view is amazing and during our visit in January the weather was perfect. While at the pool I tried the rosemary ciabatta roasted turkey club. I was so surprised when it arrived with huge chunks of turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, sliced avocado, creamy lemon mayo, lettuce and tomato. No sliced luncheon meat in this tasty treat. As a side I choose the french fries and couldn’t have been happier.$23While at Ola Ocean Front Bistro I also tried the signature drink El Yunque. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Named for the rainforest south of San Juan this was the best mixed drink I had all week. El Yunque is made with a shaker. Fill the shaker with ice, add 1 shot Bacardi 8, 1 shot Blue Curaçao and then fill almost to the top with passion fruit juice. Shake it until the metal is so cold you can’t hold it anymore. Pour foamy goodness into 16-ounce glass and garnish with lemon. You will not be disappointed no matter what time you order.$14The food was very good, so what was the problem? Its the birds. You heard that right, the birds. There are these little black birds that fly around outside jump on tables and eat off plates. It’s really unnerving trying to protect your food from the mini ravens while trying to relax. Defiantly a mood killer. Another thing, they squawk, it sounds like someone is dragging a metal chair. Additionally, Ola is located next to the family pool. Although there werent a lot of kids playing at noon on Tuesday it might be tough to chat with friends on a weekend.Keep in mind my review is only for dining on the patio at lunch so your experience may be different.
MoreQuality breakfast with a beautiful view. Family friendly and I would try it again for lunch or dinner.
