Restaurante Las Monjas - Mexican restaurant in Queretaro, Mexico
I very much enjoyed the food here and they have an English menu as well. The lady that looked after me at my table was wonderful. The food was full of flavour and the desserts are something to behold!
This was recommended by a local Mexican friend and the food was very good. However:On my first visit, the waiter immediately suggested the two most expensive items on the menu (Im sure theyre good - I ordered a great chorizo starter and mole instead). At the end, however, there was some confusion about the size of the tip, so I ended giving about 20% more than the actual bill. Im well travelled and my Spanish is decent, but certainly not fluent enough to negotiate the specifics in such situations - Im happy to pay a large tip on occasion for good food, but know this was high. The next visit, another confusion - My accompanying Mexican friend this time did receive the most expensive item on the menu, despite thinking he was only getting an enchilada with a particular kind of meat. Delicious, but €20 more delicious than anticipated. Fool me twice...Lastly, in the attached produce shop, I was charged 70 pesos for an item labelled 60 pesos (I queried), whilst an item without a price tag was quoted at 45 pesos, despite on the next day when I returned having a sticker stating 35.4 interactions with 4 mistakes, including one that fooled a local resident? Other reviews have mentioned similar issues, such as free coffee refills being charged.Great food and wonderful setting, but I regret to say - go somewhere else. These probably werent all accidents and there are plenty of honest restaurants around dealing in similar quality. So nearly great - such a shame!
The food is good, although what I ate didnt agree with me. The children dinner is excellent.
, Delicious food, I loved the cocktail bar with its seasonal drink.
I had formerly rated this as 5 stars, but today we had a very different experience. We arrived at 4:30pm for some coffee and pastries. The waiter actually invited us to leave and go to the bakery next door!We stayed and had the sausage soup and chicken enchiladas which were good, but our waiter had his back to us whenever we were trying to get his attention for coffee refills or napkins, etc...If you get coffee with breakfast, youll enjoy free refills. But after 1pm, you pay $2.25 USD per cup. Of course that isnt written down anywhere. You only learn that when you receive your bill. The food is great. The prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately for us this time, we learned that having a good waiter can make or break your experience and our waiter clearly decided we werent worth his time or attention.
Exquisite and elegant, great service and lovely night. Just got back to Queretaro from a tour trip to San Miguel and love what I heard about this restaurant, local food and great place...indeed absolutely great. Hope u enjoy as well.
Great selection of historic dishes. Incredible moles and soups.
Great place for local cuisine. Eclectic ambience good service
Lovely colonial house transformed in to a restaurant. Generous portions of food, great coffee and we got to see a one man show acting the story behind the towns aqueduct the sad story of the house. Awesome experience!
Food was just OK.
Really like this place
I could not recommend this place, my expectations were according the place which is really amazing, and the service from the attendants is really good, but food is not good, nothing exceptional with meals, my coffee was cold, I hope they improve the food flavor someday, but I will not go back ever.
Delicious traditional food. Excellent service! We will definitely come back!
Great Sunday brunch buffet. Lovely atmosphere. Taking Covid cleanliness serious. Food was tasty but could have been hotter. Maitre D was friendly and helpful. Service however was a bit slow. But understandable since it had just reopened after Covid. Definately will return.
Great food menu had options for everyone. Food came out relatively fast and was very tasty and good portions.
Amazing "antojitos" the moles and enchiladas are second to noneAnd the bakery is the bomb
I find the establishment nice, but the location is very far in my opinion. The menu is very complete, for example the enchiladas, chilaquiles, gorditas, flautas and barbacoa. Although it needs more variety in drinks, for example there are hardly any beers or wines, perhaps because it resembles Mexican cuisine.
Will give 4 stars but should be 3 because in that day we had food in buffet style, the dishes were few and all made with the same seasoning (salsait was really spicy. But in general its a good place and would consider that ordering food by menu would be good. The concept of the place is great and the ambience relaxing.
👍👍
Nice breakfast but a little expensive
Very good food, and exelente servicio..!!
Tasty, good old Mexican Food!
Delicious mole as shown in the photo. Great choice close to the center.
The food is great, I loved the fact that this restaurant is trying to bring back local recipes, the "mole" is quiet something unique, nothing like mole from Puebla nor Oaxaca.
Dining at Las Monjas is like a journey back in time. The staff will give a tour if requested.
Verrrrrrry Goooooood !!! Beautiful, beautiful place,,,,,,, walking into this restaurant is going back in time ! A+++++
Excellent food I love it
Custom made food with very original names, the house has story and is told by the maitre d, the waiter was very funny and very good service. Prices are higher and its worth it. They gave two stores one selling bread and the other jams, conserves, sauces. The ladies there were very nice and we could sample the mango mermelade
Worst service ever. I will never come to this restaurant again. It was not very busy, I really expected better service and flavors.
Food not good!.. beautifuk place thogh
Long story short: overvalued. Actual review: We went as Google maps mention this a 4+ star. The place is great... to your eyes, I really recommend you to take a little tour and see the place. The service was good, not great, why? Well we asked for 1 soup devided in two bowls but their only option was to bring the soup in 1 bowl another empty bowl and a spoon, ok I have the tools but come on! The taste is good, not great. We ordered the "molcajete" and it only has 2 small pieces of meat, little dry, tons of chicken very toasty and chorizo with big pieces of fat... But after.all, not a bad taste. The waiters suggested the most expensive plates a second before we ordered what we asked for, which I understand but I think that they must recommend whatever is good not just the super expensive dishes.
The tour and history of this place was very interesting
Its okay. The place is nice (make sure to tour around), service was a little slow even though it was a little empty at the time we were there. The house drink is good. They have high chairs and changing tables which is a plus for families with little ones. Ill probably give it another shot.
Good place. Buffet type.
Excellent brunch with a wide selection of food and desserts. A cook can also make you eggs or an omelette of your choice. Plenty of fruits to end your meal and the coffee is included in the price ($210)
Nice customer service and breakfast buffet
It was mediocre, neitger excellent nor horrible.
Easily, one of the best restaurants in Querétaro. Tried the buffet (Sunday), which has multiple traditional Mexican dishes, including sweet ones like churros. And almost all of them were pretty good. The place has a small stone fountain at the center, and a side corridor with a "well of wishes", with several antique tools scattered around. It also has its own bakery next door, as well as shop with traditional candies, which makes it very convenient if you dont have much time to visit the city. Make sure to go early on, to avoid long waiting. Also, the place is a bit noisy, there isnt a child area, and its main dish (birria, I thinkis NOT refilled once its gone, so plan ahead.
Amazing food and drinks. The menu is hilarious! Very very creative.
A classic old school restaurant in Querétaro. Dont expect fancy stuff like wifi or great amenities. The bread is soo great ! I liked the conchas a lot.
The food is great and the place is a dream, very beautiful and classic. BUT the music is terrible and loud, you cant have a nice conversation, the manager corrects the personal in front of everyone and well... That turns a wonderful place into a noisy mess.
Food is delicious and service is great
Marvelous green chile mole with pork. Liked almost too nice to eat. Lots of local specialties at most reasonable prices. Service excellent. By all means, try this.
Good service. They dont have too much food amd the place is nice. They dont have any parking or balletparking
Delicious food and excellent service, I highly recommend the buffet on weekends.
This restaurant is located in a very beautiful and historic place. The decoration helps you travel in time and experience an original meal with authentic recipes from Queretaros colonial era. The menu offers a delicious and wide variety of appetizers, soups, starters, entrees and desserts. The name of the dishes tells you a lot of the history behind of each recipe. Service can be a little slow, but always kind. Payment options are cash, debit and credit cards. Parking is challenging, but there are some public parking lots nearby.
Good food and service, Great atmosphere with great buffet selection during the weekend.
The food is amazing and the service is complete
Great real homemade like mexican food. They have a weekend all you can eat breakfast buffet
Tasty soup, excellent service. Awesome!
