Restaurante La Casa de Socorro - Caribbean restaurant in Cartagena, Colombia
I have to say that the place looks great but the service was terrible. The whole place was over staff but nobody care to help. My server was a lady with the worst attitude, got completely wrong my order and didn’t care about guest satisfaction. Total tourist trap.
The food was amazing. I took my husband here for his 40th birthday. Our Spanish wasnt the best but the servers were very patient and helpful. I had the fried red snapper and my husband had the lobster El Diablo. So much food! So delicious!
A must visit when in Cartagena! They serve Colombian and Cartagenan classics like patacón, cóctel de camarones, arroz con coco, etc. The food is good, location is close to the walled city.
⚠️TRAVELLER REVIEW ⚠️We have been travelling in Colombia for 2 weeks and we tried street food most of the time, everyone told us about this place! We spend probably $170,000 we got a pitcher of sangria to celebrate our arrival to Cartagena it was 10 pm it wa a empty! Perfect time for a feast !We ordered the entire fish 🐟 perfect for 2 (womanand entree ( shrimps absolutely delicious! Fast ! The presentation it’s not what we are talking here but the FLAVOURS!!! WowowowowoAmazing ! And the place is super cute the decor kept out attention for a while. Love the floor tiles !
There’s a reason this place was super busy at 4pm. It’s delicious. Best ceviche I’ve had in Colombia.
This is genuine "Cartagena people’s food." This is purely why it is 5 Star. If you miss this one, you missed Cartagena.
The atmosphere and food were great - I had the seafood pasta and my wife had the barracuda and we would recommend them. The sangria was really good as well, definitely try it.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Relaxed quiet place to have a very good meal
This restaurant has really good seafood. I had the Seafood Rice and it was really flavorful. The Patacones with the white suero sauce was tasty. The Fried Calamari was a really good appetizer, but it served with a spicy sauce so be careful if you don’t like spice.
This is one of the worst restaurants Ive ever been to. The service was extremely slow, not caring to check if we were happy with our meals (none of the four of us were happy), and we flagged a server to get a steak knife because my son ordered a steak, only to find out the butter knives were all they had. We tried to pay with a credit card but two different card process machines didnt work with their own wifi, so we paid in cash (way too much - 282,232 COPand left quickly.
Great local cuisine. We tried the seafood rice and the seafood stew and both were amazing. Huge portions full of taste and the price was very reasonable. Definitely recommend it.
This place has the best fish in all of Cartagena. Big portions. Amazing. We had the fried calamari, octopus, red snapper, grilled chicken with ff, and the steak in peppercorn sauce. Everything was great. Will be coming back!
This restaurant has become my favorite, the shrimp casserole is delicious, the sea bass posta is equally delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful
Unfortunately not worth the price. It’s similar to the prices at “Candé” (another Carribean restaurant), but the food is by far on a lesser level. Pros: The coco lemonade is exquisite and the serving sizes big, the soup before the cartagenean meat as well. Seviche (mixto and pulpoare both good.Cons: the cartagenean meat is first of all super dry and the whole dish (even rice & saladway too sweet. The rice with shrimps is also ok, but it’s missing variety (dry rice, dry fried plantain). Ordered water and it never came, also food came rather slowly.
Perhaps is not 5 stars at all, main plate (Pargo Fritois not fresh and it make sense due to region (sea levelif you really want a fresh fish you have to visit Cali city. Now the average time to be attended is high but is a normal behavior of the most famous restaurants around (waiter culture).
The calamari was good and my seafood rice was excellent. Every single bite had seafood. The let down was the cocktail. The margerita was terrible.
The restaurant has a very nice ambience. Both entrees (ribs and steakwere delicious and the calamari was average. Very nice host and waitstaff. The drinks are strong but good!
Used to be for many years one of the best sea food restaurants in Cartagena. Was there today, it has a new owner, horrible expensive and very loe quality food. I had today a sea food cazuela barely had any sea food. Would NOT recomend
Excellent service! The restaurant has great ambiance and environment. It’s suitable for people of all ages!
Incredible authentic Colombian Caribbean food! The seafood “Cazuela Gratinada” was amazing! It was rich, creamy with great flavors, I can’t recommend it enough. My wife had the “Lomito Criollo” cooked medium and it was soft, tender, flavorful, absolutely delicious!
Really bad restaurant. An actual tourist trap. They try to sell the typical folklore through food badly done. I ordered an overpriced little fried fish that was more salt than fish. Anywhere else in the Colombian Caribbean you will find better cooked fish. Quite a dissapointment.
Is a great restaurant, lots of seafood options and local cousine! Some delicious yummy seafood. The service in a little bit slow and if you come at peak time, expect a delay on service. However is a great place for dinning.!
One of my favorite and most delicious dining experiences while in Cartagena. We ate ceviche or whole fish everywhere we went, and everything here tasted like it was prepared with love. Between the two of us we split the whole fish which came with rice and a salad. We also ordered a seafood soup, ceviche, and a side salad. Service was excellent!
Always great food and amazing service. Actually, the best seafood restaurant in Cartagena (if you ask me). Will highly recommend to anyone not just because of the food but because of the service and price. Will definitely repeat and recommend anytime possible.
Beautiful restaurant on a nice street. The interior is bright and decor is great. The staff is friendly, efficient and fast. We were here for lunch and started with Calamare Apanados which was fried nicely and was crisp and tasty. The patacons were thin (as I likeand fried crispy. We both ordered the Sancocho de Pargo. My first Sancocho, but my novia is a Colombiana and has made it and had it many times. I thought it was delicious as did she. The fish was done well and was very tasty. I like the coconut rice also.I recommend this restaurant.
The food at La Casa de Socorro is expensive, given the quality. Thats not to say the food is bad, far from it. The interior is cool and attractive, the staff helpful. The bin in the mens toilet was full, with paper spilling onto the floor. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch but the restaurant has room for improvement.
The service was good and the place was nice. The food was a bit over salted and the sangria too strong. This was one of the most expensive meals we had in Cartagena but it wasnt necessarily the best. Prices are high compared to other places where you can get much better tasting food.
Full of local guests, but very overpriced compared to service and quality in my opinion. It is a commercial restaurant focussing on quantity rather than quality. Rooftop bars and restaurants in centre of the old town are priced the same but much higher quality. The shrimps in my casserole seemed over cooked and to be honest too old, they crumbled in my mouth when eating it, and I couldn’t finish the dish because of the very fishy taste. Our starter, fried shrimp in garlic sauce tasted good though, although the amount was very small. No one asked us how it tasted or if everything was tasting as it should. All in all very bad experience.
This restaurant it’s just OK. Not outstanding at all. Not bad but I recommend not going there thinking on a great meal. Please don’t order the fish soup (sancocho). I’m colombian from Santa Marta and know very well the local food. High prices for the amount of food
Amazing seafood and great service. My favorite place in Cartagena.
Great experience. Clean restaurant, good food, and friendly servers. Loved the atmosphere. AC/air conditioning a big plus. Rice is sweet (coconut), no beans on the menu, they accept credit cards.
Thoroughly enjoyed eating at this local Cartagena restaurant. They serve local cuisine that is delicious and priced just right. I had rice with seafood, that was served with patacones (fried plantainand they were both very tasty. It was also accompanied with a fish soup that was very tasty. For dessert I had the tres leches cake, which made my mouth melt. Everything was very good. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the bathrooms were clean, and the service was very good.
Thats more than the words can says, so I recommended It so much, you cant leave to Cartagena without visit it before, I mean if you tell me than you visit Cartagena, but you didnt visit La casa de Socorro restaurant, you didnt visit Cartagena.
I wanted to rate higher since the food is good . The service was just very slow and my waiter wasn’t as attentive as I would have liked him to be . Granted there was a lot of people , but It took a while to order and get my food and I was by myself . Food was good though
Best fried red snapper! Like at home in Puerto Rico! Vegan options too!!
Beef was good the veg fried rice was disappointing. Service was great
Tasty food, Especially la cazuela de mariscos 👌🏻! but there is only a problem, the service is a little slowly🐢
A lovely restaurant. Very casual and good for lunch. Watch out for the bones in your fish soup!
Popular local restaurant with an emphasis on seafood. Nice ambiance. HOWEVER sadly they do not seem to know how to cook fish. The grilled octopus was like rubber despite our skiing them not to over cook it. The replacement was not any better. The seas bass was overcooked. The steak was boring on being cremated. The choice of juices were excellent, as were the sweets.
We found this place as we were on our way to the Getsemani neighborhood. This was a very busy place and reminded of a train station so you have to set your expectations right. The food was good enough we have had better Cartagena. The service was also acceptable. But I enjoyed the buzz of the place with convention attendees tourists and a smattering of locals in attendance.
Great fish sop and garlic shrimp. Nice little restaurant with friendly staff and prompt service.
Arrived in Cartagena after 3 hours driving. Place was recommended by sis-in-laws friend. Place was packed. But i really dont know why. The place has 2 floors, we went up since it was packed. Service was slow, very slow. I think it ws only 2 servr for 2nd floor, meanwhile on the 1st floor you see a lot of waiters walking. We ordered cartagenian beef and a seafood platter. Food came out on time. First the soups which were good. The beef was very dry but the sauce was delicious. The platter, most of the seafood were overcooked and thus not delicious. It was a very disappointing and expensive experience. I will not go back again.
First time in Cartagena. Went to this restaurant and had a great time. The food was delicious and atmosphere was tranquil! Highly recommend this place to anyone.
This place has been around for ages. My mom came here as a child good food fresh fish good service I had Lobster with garlic sauce a little Tad overcooked but had great flavor
Absolutely delicious!!! I had a very similar dish just yesterday at a home in the wall and thought that was great. After eating here, I was blown away at the richness of the flavor. That homemade salsa is mind blowing.
This place is truly authentic and seeks to be genuine Cartagena cooking. I had the baby lobster tail platter. It was just perfect. Not too salty but not too simple. Excellent flavor. The coconut rice was lightly sweet and the fried plantains werent overly sweet. Quick service and very attentive service. Easily one of the best places Ive been to in Colombia.
Great food, the Staff is friendly but the service a bit slow.
This was the best food I’ve had in Cartagena . The appetizer (fish soupis amazing . I order the lobster soup packed with rich flavors and chunks of lobster. The seafood coconut rice is slightly different than the traditional coconut rice, but certainly a must have !
Great food and big portions. They offer a amazing fish soup before serve your plate. Good service.
Popular with locals, this restaurant is bustling during lunch and dinner. Good seafood dishes, the soups and casseroles are a specialty. The Red Snapper soup (Sancochois pretty amazing. A whole snapper fried just right and then covered in this beautiful broth. YUM! The casseroles are served in about the size of a typical soup bowl. Selection from fish to squid. Squid casserole was a little "fishy" and thought it could be improved.Service can seem a little disorganized and slow at times but the staff are really nice and friendly.
