Restaurante Bar La Vitrola - Gastropub in Cartagena, Colombia
Restaurante Bar La Vitrola in Cartagena
Description
Simply the best italian food in Cartagena
Probably the best ceviche and pasta with seafood in the hole city. Beautiful place, be aware that men cannot enter with shorts, and if one is wearing one, they will give you a long dress to cover the legs. (It happened to me)
MoreThe staff are amazing. The pulpo appetizer is about best I’ve ever had. I don’t have a pic of it as gone fast!
MoreOld school, simple, as it should be. The food is quite delicious but the live music makes it a 10.
MoreThe ambience is great with music. Food is good but not top
Great atmosphere, with warm lights and live music in a homely decor. Food was average not very original neither especially tasty. I had a zarzuela de mariscos (a seafood soupand the Vitrola Pie. All was good enough but in the end seemed overpriced. I am even suspicious the soup was microwaved (extremely hot chunks in an otherwise normally warm soup). In the end, a good evening in a nice atmospheric place. Just don’t expect anything special with the food.
MoreAstounding on every level (except the chairs). Fantastic location in an historical building, attentive service, and food that leaves you reminiscing. Must go here!
MoreLoved the live music, attentive service, and great food.
We’ve been in Cartagena for a week and this place is the bestSeafood is unreal and a huge selection of wine etc….
MoreThe staff is very attentive and helpful with the menu. Very reasonable prices and the dining area has a nice ambiance. I got the lobster/shrimp ravioli and it was a perfectPortion. The coconut pie is AMAZING!
MoreThe best in the area with great experience and environment. Robert was amazing and I highly recommend this place over any else in the area. Great for the whole family.
MoreAmbience is nice, live entertainment was very well done, a dressy place to feel comfortable, I believe all 6 of us had the Caribbean Lobster, it was my 1st time and grilled- but I think I prefer Maine. I found it on the tough side. The sides - rice and grilled vegs, were very tasty. Service was well done and attentive, you would not be disappointed!
MoreVery traditional place in Cartagena with good seafood and good service. Live traditional music.
MoreAmazing food and service in an classic old style restaurant - we sat next to a picture of Gabriel García Márquez sitting at our table 🙌
MoreVery slow service. They warned us about no shorts policy, but in there, there were females in shorts. Makes you wonder how special they are and how the got it. The food was basic. I had pasta aurora which tasted like something out of Olive Garden restaurant. This place isn’t worth it. Too many better options in town for a fraction of the price.
MoreGood food and a wonderful experience had by all.
I had heard great things about Vitrola so made a reservation to go as soon as we arrived. We arrived and got seated in the back room in the corner with all the other tourists (I took a look around and noticed thiseven though there were open tables in the front room where the live music wasplaying. I can’t help but feel like it was intentional, but maybe not. Either way, the experience in the back room away from the music wasn’t very nice, and the food and drink did not at all make up for it. Out of all the restaurants we went to in Cartagena the food here impressed us the least and felt a bit overpriced. There are great places to eat here but I didn’t think this was one of them. I’d say save your time.
MoreLobster was great! Cool ambience. Nice local feel. Men must wear pants.
Nice restaurant, good food. But in time of Covid-19 the small place inside was very full. The tables and seats where very close to each other. No possibility of distance. Due to the fact that nobody was wearing a mask at the table a dangerous place.
MoreLa vitrola, traditional upscale restaurant with more than 25 years of existence in Cartagena. Their experience its consistent with the quality of their dishes. One of the best restaurants I have tried in Cartagena, take into account the dress code and a the fact that it is expensive. Nice ambient with life music.Starters:Empanadas filled with mariscos combined with spicy suero (local sauce). Great!! loved them.Crunchy octopus, comes with smashed plantain both pretty nice. The octopus it’s really crunchy.Cocktails:Mojito with hechicera rum, good taste and quantity of alcohol.Piña colada, big but too sweet. Only for sweet lovers.Main dishes:Lobster raviolis, 👌🏻 right on point. They have the real lobster taste, full of lobster meat.Coconut rissotto with lobster and shrimps, also a great choice a dish worth repeating. Maybe the best rissotto in Cartagena.Dessert:Coconut pie, also good not as much as itis talked about. Its more like a coconut cake with ice cream. But still good, try it for yourself.
MoreGood food, great service very laid back. Keep on mind a dress code is in place.
Dinner was absolutely amazing. Ambiance was perfect and service was excellent. This was our favorite place for dinner in Cartagena.
MoreLoved this place. Ceviche white fish, tuna tartare, sea bass entree dish, Vitriola pie, coffee. Relaxed professionalism at its best. Do yourself a favor and stop here for a great experience.
MoreDon’t come if you don’t have a reservation and make sure guys are not wearing short pants — haha! In Cartagena. Requirements not compatible with holidays. Do not recommend.
MoreThe decor, ambience are quality. The menu is just too old. They are stuck in 1950’s style cuisine. Only go here if you are trying to be in an old timey place. Cartagena has much better food to offer elsewhere. They just need to modernize menu , hire new chef.
MoreSuper expansive, food was regular. I was with a group of 13 celebrating 30 years high school reunion and no one was impress with the food. It was highly recommended but we visited other places with prices half what we paid there and food was extraordinary in every sense.Would not go again.
MoreCharming restaurant with great service and delicious food.
Delicious food. A little expensive but it deserves to be paid.
The door man is uninviting, so much so that I only had a couple of cocktails and left. Im sure the place is fantastic food wise, but honestly the tone set by the door man was enough for me to feel unwelcome. With that said, give it a shot, reservations are necessary and be sure to wear pants, no shorts.Happy hunting fellow travelers!
MoreSuper delicious food and found a really good vegan option ! Great ambiance and excellent service
MoreBest cuban food, dress nicely, guayabera does the trick
The place is great for a dinner date, it has live music and the ambiance is excellent. Staff are friendly and attentive. I forgot the name of the meal but it was kind of local seafood soup, it was delicious. So was the fish fillet with sauce on top. The Pie de Coco was a must!
MoreOne of the fine dinner places to go to if your visiting Cartagena. Ask for the specials and you won’t be disappointed. Oh don’t forget to put in your reservations.
MoreExcellent food and old style interior. More formal. Needed to wear pants. A bit pricey but less than ny and well worth it.
MoreGreat food, better service, dont need any recommendations.
First class dishes, sea food, pasta and more. Good wine and service.Live music. No shorts allowed.Must visit in Cartagena.Make reservation.
MoreClassic, Old School Dining beautifully executed. There is a dress code; just no shorts of flip flops, and the doorman was very courteous about it the first time we showed up and a sixteen year old member of the party was in shorts. We came back another night correctly dressed for the place and there was no problem. The prices are in line with other upper end places in Cartagena, and was good value for the money.
MoreBeautiful upscale restaurant. Food and service was amazing. Feels like going back in time and visiting an old Cuban social club. The decor and even walking through the small front gate make you feel like your entering a different time and place. Definitely worth a visit. Business casual is normally the minimum expectation of attire.
MoreVery very expensive a set menu for dinnner costing around 50; Euros per person plus the cost of any drinks is ridiculous for a Colombia. The food ok but nothing extraordinary
MoreShity pretentious closed door restaurant, with the security refusing our entrance because we were on shorts... the restaurant is in Cartagena, with a temperature of 30 degrees at night. And there was people with t-shirts inside. Maybe he was expecting some kind of bribe to let people in.
MoreThe experience here was wonderful. The service was great and the food was tasty, they have a live band with local classic music; additionally, I loved the facilities, especially the bathrooms.
MoreSecurity/door man was so rude. We were looking for a place for drinks right after dinner and the restaurant was not full. He basically just waved us away. Maybe get a proper hostess?
MoreExcellent place for dinner. Live band starts at 8pm. I had red snapper and prawn. Fish is so fresh that i can taste the ocean. The sauce is amazing too.
MoreFancy place with good ambience, great service and live music after 8pm, but I found the food itself lacking; particularly for the price. Its not bad food; everything was tasty--I was just expecting something more special, particularly for the price (and it wasnt; it was good but not great, which it needs to be for the price). Trendy, fancy place where the elites rub shoulders, but the food is just OK. I probably wouldnt go back when there are much better options either at the same price or cheaper.
MoreVery good restaurant and typical of Cartagena. Good service and live music !
Good service, great food and drinks. Live music is also good, but while I was there it stopped twice. The food is served fast and is really tasty.
MoreTHE GREATEST RESTAURANT IN ALL OF CARTAGENA!!! I stayed in this Amazing city for 9 nights and went to La Vitrola 3 times!! I couldnt get enough of their Grouper & Coconut Rice, Fried Squid with arrabiata sauce & the Coconut Pie is Unreal!!! There is live music and an amazing vibe! Make sure you call to reserve a table earlier in the day!! Ill be visiting this restaurant every time Im in Cartagena for now on!! :)
MoreSlightly* (as in 2 blocksout of the way from Plaza Bolivar and the Museum of Spanish Inquisition, This restaurant is worth the short walk to get there. The waitstaff is friendly, courteous and attentive. The food is AMAZING. I really recommend it.
MoreExcellent food. The only weird thing was the waiter not including the tip in the card payment (as the menu said is doneand asking for it in cash. All got a bit uncomfortable.
MoreNot good, the salmón was cold, then it came back over cooked and only half of the size, the pisco sour came half way through the meal and it was everything but a pisco sour. We complained so they just brought the bill, but the pasta order was good, oh and they require shoes nosandalsAnd
