Restaurant Villa Ortega's - Seafood restaurant in Ensenada, Mexico
Cash only, make sure to bring money, there is a firme bank atm right outside but they charge of course commission and other fees. Remember they accept no cards, they warn you with signs everywhere and the waiter before you order warns you this one more time so its really up to you to follow the warnings. Aside from that the food is pretty good. They got these big flour tortillas and big aint do it justice. The lobsters its good, aint the best I ever had but its good. The place its on the pricey side and carrying so much cash when going out with a big group might be a little bit troublesome for some. The service is good and they served my table properly and fast. Good place to celebrate and throw some money, great ocean view.
We went there for the lobster and honestly we did not really liked it, it was chewy (overcookedand the butter tasted very funny, the view is amazing, tortillas de harina are the best ever, but thre main dish was a disappointment. Also they make you pay cash and its not a cheap bill, my husband had to go to an ATM innorder to be able to eat there :/
Most phenomenal inexpensive place in Rosarito 😁
WW LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We had an Oceanfront seat with delicious seafood platters. Perfect Birthday celebration 🎂
Beautiful view of the ocean. Service was good . Lobster was only fair. Not certain if the butter it was cooked in was odd, but flavor was not as expected. For the price the lobster was small..Would go there again for views and other food , lobster was only adequate..A plus is that they had there own parking in a congested area!
I got the shrimp and lobster and the lobster was really small and the shrimp didnt have much flavor. The ceviche was really good. I wasnt too happy with my food but I would still go back and try something different. It had a really nice and romantic view on the ocean side. If your in rosarito definitely go try this place
Good Service , lobster 🦞 , Grill 🐟 fish and breaded fish had a Good flavor, beans and Rice had great taste . However the veggies were not good , no flavor just water base . was nice and Cold , lemonade margarita has a good flavor but with hornitos ,nice blended ,Over all waiter took his time and had great service 👍
Usually eat at another restaurant but it was closed last night. The waiter was nice and he served us fast! Food was good and the sun set was beautiful! It was empty last night, I guess everyone was waiting at the border crossing!
Beautiful view, services was not so good, the host was rudeness and di not gave us a good service. We felt so un happy. Honestly, the food tasted mediocre, not much flavor ,got the plate for 4 people. Expend money in this restaurant but services was sooo mediocre 😕
The food was so good!!! I took off 1 star only because they didn’t have any big lobsters left (which was the main reason why we went there).
Great seafood. Big size appetizers and main courses; ask for the jumbo lobster. Nice sea view from the terrace
We loved the warm sesame bread buns with cheese and jalapeno inside that they brought as appetizers. The fish ceviche was very fresh and full of flavors. I ordered the grilled fish. It was fresh and large in portion. Guacamole, lobster and shrimp also tasted amazing.
View and atmosphere is good but lobster is a bit over cooked. Maybe try other dishes next time
Love the flour tortillas! Food was good and the view is spectacular!
Two lobsters and assorted seafood plates, soups, bread and tortilla chips, with two drinks was $88 USD. Cash only. Honestly, the food tasted mediocre, not much flavor and came to our table bit cold except tortillas, may be the frying oil bit too old, but the experience as whole including the ocean view was amazing. 4 guys singing for you is $15/song. Free parking unless you go take a walk after dining they’ll charge $5. It was great!
Beautiful view, great service, and good prices. Fast service and fast kitchen. Guacamole and chips definitely taste authentic. Large amount of food per order. I ordered an ice tea to go with my food and asked for water on the side to reduce the sweetness. Mix drinks are also a bit sweet for my pallet and good amount of alcohol overall that balances the flavor.
Beautiful place to watch the sunset. Staff was exceptional. The fresh tortillas were delicious as well as the complimentary cheese buns
Frankly this place is mid at best. To begin with the parking situation is overwhelming, for some reason the restaurant is CASH ONLY, and the worst part is the lobster is just not that good.
This place is exceptional! Hopefully too many foreigners dont hop on board :Great atmosphere and views!
All the prices have gone up soon much, besides they dont have a ramp for wheelchair. Our view was limited. For some reason food lack flavor. It was disappointing. Good ambiance and good service though.
2nd time here. Not a long wait at all. Views are incredible and the service is fast and prompt. it is CASH ONLY. The seafood is delicious and try to get a seat down by the water. Its totally worth the wait if any.
Beautiful place, Food not because always cold
Readily good food. Had the lobster and papagayo. Decent prices and a nice view of the ocean.
Drove all way to Rosarito, Mexico 🇲🇽 to have some fried fish and I was so disappointed to find out they dont have fried fish on their menu... Ended up getting shrimp fajitas... Beautiful view... Service was good, but because of NO fried fish, they only get 3 stars on their overall food...
Loved it! Try to arrive off peak hours as the place gets busy on weekends and also bring cash, no credit cards accepted. Our server was flawless. Quick and friendly with perfect suggestions to what our group needed.Park somewhere and walk as their parking gets busy on weekends at peak hours. The food was fantastic, octopus and shrimp plate was light on portion, but lobsters were amazing. I have to mention refried runny beans and rice were also amazing. I know, the contrast, right? But all three were THAT GOOD. ❤️👏
The sangria was a bit bitter. The lobster was good, but too much chipotle sauce. It felt like there was more sauce than meat. Regardless it was spicy and yummy. The aguachile was absolutely bomb.com! The tortillas were super big and homemade! You must try the shrimp(Cameronone with chile verde (green chile). Omg the service was on point. They even pack you food to go for you! I love it when they do this! The food was decent in price. It cost us so much bc we were a group of 17 people . Oh! The bathrooms here are a must see. Even those are very freaking pretty!
Beautiful views and delicious local caught seafood. The service was courteous, timely and efficient. One drawback, cash only, no debit or credit.
The food was good overall but I felt there was a room for improvement.
Great food.Beautiful outdoor views.Great service.
This is the most amazing ultimate place to eat lobsters, tortilla soup, Guac, rice nd beans are out of this world. Coming to Puerto Nuevo is a must....
Ok so we ended up at this restaurant after walking all day we were starving. The place is huge we sat by the window at first but it was super cold so we moved near the closed windows. The view was amazing thats why I gave 3 stars. The decor is old and peeling paint off the walls. My boyfriend wanted to order the platter for 2. When it got to the table everything was cold except the tortillas and breads. The lobster was small. Nothing was amazing to me . Regular beans, rice and a few pieces of shrimp and fried fish. Definitely not worth $100. I really would have rather eaten at red lobster then this place.
Villa Ortega has been a tradition for my family since the 1990s. Great food, amazing views, and fav to do the odd cross border day trip.
The service was good. The place is so big, I am surprised that we didn’t get lost going to our table. The food was delicious and they portions are really large. I can’t say enough good things about the fresh tortillas.
One of the best seafood experiences where the Center stage is Lobster. Pacific lobster is amazing, the corn tortillas and the sauces are next level.I would only expect a better selection of local / regional wines. Just stick to beer is my recommendation!Friendly staff and views are jaw opening
One day trip cross from San Diego board to this restaurant. The wide sea scene plus delicious seafood makes the travel so pleasant. People were nice there, maybe we didn’t go far, feel safe and excited by 2.5 hours could eat in a neighbor’s country.
Visited restaurant while in the area. There was six Ortega restaurants there. The service was quick and friendly. We started out with margaritas. They were really great. We order fish and shrimp ceviche as an appetizer. I really enjoyed both of the ceviche. The shrimp cerviche was my favorite. Tortilla soup brought out before our meal. It was tasty. I other garlic butter fish as my meal. I did not really care for the butter garlic fish. My friends ordered fajitas and lobster platter. Overall experience was good. Price was great
The best place to have a seat overlooking the ocean while enjoying giant homemade flour tortillas. Needless to say the lobster is the reason to stop by. There are other places near by that have about the same menu but this place has the view. The prices are very reasonable and could have trio serenate you.
Great variety of sea food. Good tasting and will served food. I loved that they served tortillas along with the food. Large tortillas, soft and great tasting.Great location and ambience! Restaurant is at the beach so the views are amazing. They left part of the windows open for a very nice cool sea breeze.Food was not cheap but not too expensive either, about US$20 post person. We dont drink so this does not include alcohol.Only disappointment, despite being such a high end restaurant, they take only cash, no credit card.
Lobster and shrimp were good, but the Camarones Costa Azul were excellent, hand made flour tortillas melt in your mouth. There was only one server and we got our drinks 15 mins into our meal. No ocean view but still a nice atmosphere.
Over all the food is delicious.. I ordered the lobster with garlic shrimp.. rice and beans on point.... the bread with cream cheese...so good as well as the tortilla soup..good place to go. Especially the view beautiful...
Great place and great food. It is big restaurant and I love the theme, food is at a great price so the tastes, a bit chilly if you sit outside, but youll get a great view of the ocean. Its mainly seafood here the octopus were my favourite part of the whole experience, but it is a most to try the lobsters. Overall great experience love everything and definitely be coming back.
This restaurant has the best of everything Puerto Nuevo has to offer. Hands down, the best views. The decor is unmatched. Every area in the restaurant is a photo waiting to be taken. The wait staff are above average. The food is top of the line. Sitting on the patio, overlooking the ocean, listening to a trio or mariachi band is a memory you will never forget.
Got seated right away. Pleasant service. Loved the food. Prices are really good for lobster 🦞 and shrimp cocktail. My sister ordered the seafood combo and said it was the best garlic shrimp 🍤 she has ever had. The rolls with jalapeño cream cheese, were do die for!!!! They make them right on site.
CASH ONLY.I mustve gone on an off day, but the lobster I had was a little on the bland side. Ive been here in the past and it was really good before.Beans, rice, and flour tortillas were on point.Paloma drink was delicious.Beautiful view and fun atmosphere.
Great food and drinks. Parking is a bit crowded but free and it has security. The place was full but we didn’t have to wait too long to be seated. During our visit, they were only taking cash which can be a burden if you are only carrying plastic. Overall, very affordable and a great experience. The view of the beach also adds to experience.
Awesome spot, we just had dessert after scarfing on lobster 🦞 across the street. So much space and the feel of the place is so cool. (TimeWarp). Carrot cake 🎂and Flan were amazing 👏.... There are 4 other dining and cocktail 🍸areas not even show. Place is HUGE... Be prepared (CASH ONLY)
Ok lets talk about this place. Perfect sea view location, food to perfection. What else can you ask...? fresh seafood specially the lobster soo yum! Margaritas on point and fresh tortillas! Live mariachi band and excellent customer service. Definitely going back!
Good place for eating lobster in Puerto Nuevo but I think its importance is the view directly to the sea. Still great restaurant and good food. Delicious flour tortillas. Ceviche is not that good. I give 3 stars because of the sewers smell depending were you are seated mostly outside.
Homemade flour tortillas are ginormous. Lobster is excellent without saying but Ill say it anyway. Cant beat the deal half a lobster steak homemade flour tortillas refried beans rice baked potato vegetables and guacamole for 22 bucks. Margaritas are very tasty. Service is outstanding always plenty of staff. Lots of mariachis going around playing music and an ocean view this place is a must.
This was my first time in Puerto Nuevo. My friends and I went to this restaurant for lunch and I was really surprised with the views this place had. It has a deck that we were able sit outside and enjoy the view. It was clean, busy, had live music and the servers were very nice and helpful. The guacamole and chips were good and everyone else was really satisfied with their orders. I loved the shrimp but for me the lobster and fish were a bit over cooked for my taste. Around the corner and down a small alleyway there is a little look out point that you must stop by if you come here. Will I come here again? Yes, to try the other items on the menu. Over all, my friends and I did enjoy our time there.
