Restaurant Sesame - Mediterranean restaurant in Dubrovnik, Croatia
I liked my club sandwich, my draft cold beer, the local schnapps and the coffee... additional I enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly service :)
Expensive place !Nice terrace and great service but my 31€ plate looked like it was made by a beginner! The taste was good but small and too expensive my god !! I hesitated to take a dessert but I was afraid of being disappointed because of the main course I had...
Delicious (which is rare in Dubrovnikbut very pricey. The portions are average sized
Amazing food! Really some of the best that we had in Dubrovnik. The service on the other hand was awful. Not an overly busy restaurant but staff are rarely walking around and didnt seem to be too happy to help. We asked 3 times for the bill and drinks were forgotten when ordered. A seemingly easy fix and hope it was an off day
Staff friendly, food tasty shame about the number of mosquito bites (approx 15whilst sitting eating although of course this is no reflection on the restaurant
5 star service. 4 star food. Great lobster pasta, OK duck. Location atmosphere and staff make this an amazing place
Food is extraordinary good, service very professional. Prices are high, but with good reason.
A bit rude staff. They didn’t offer the menu card. Just ask what we want.Coffee is average. High prices.
Very nice dinner and service was wonderful. The lunch two days later even so. Great recommendation. Inside in the historic cellar, it is a stroll through history.
Delicious dinner on a rainy Sunday evening. The only thing that disappointed me was that I could not order the Dalmatian seafood stew (for 2 peoplesince I was by myself and cannot eat that much. I will come back one day with a friend to try it.
Service is too slow and it is very expensive. They charged me 42kn for the lemonade that did not taste as lemonade at all.
We cannot recommend this place unfortunately. We paid €70 and we both left hungry. The papillot, was meager, a small piece of fish and barely vegetables with no other side dishes. The truffle tagliatelle was nice but again too small for that price. We saw other dishes come out of the kitchen which were much larger, so perhaps we were just unlucky with our choices. Afterwards we went 50m down the street and both had a hamburger for €3. Nice location and friendly staff but for that price you can eat much better and without hunger in many other places in the city.
Nice location but pricey.Good coffee but breakfast was average. We paid 45€ for all of this
What a great place. Beautiful setting and just lovely staff. Loved the pianist too.
Great food, good selection od beers and superb atmosphere on the terrace outside. I could chill out here all day😍
Around 32€ for a fish that was cold inside, the waiters were nice and polite, but in a good restaurant anywhere else in the world they would have tried to amend the mistake with a free desert or free drink at least. Not worth it to come back.
Looks like it is one the fanciest and good-looking places here. But probably because of over-demand they can charge astronomical prices for very poor quality dishes. The decor and the interior of the restaurant is the only nice thing about it
I just had to return. This is just outside the city gates and has a lovely and friendly ambiance. But the food…..is delicious too! I had the lamb shank which was fall off the bone tender. Earlier in the week I went for the burger which was fat, plump and succulent. A great restaurant indeed.
Excellent food and a beautifully decorated terrace. The servers are well dressed (with a bowtieand friendly. We had 2 ravioli dishes: oxtale + cheese and chard. Very tasty, but too small potion size! (Only 3 raviolis per plate, should be 4 or 5)
So we paid over £80 for 2 beers, 2 soft drinks and 16 pieces of soggy ravioli!. We left feeling cheated and insulted. Now looking at other reviews, I see it is quite normal at Sesame to be charged a lot of money for very poor quality food. I also see that the management replies to all the good reviews, but not to the bad ones. You need to pay attention to what people are saying. Your food is substandard and over priced.
We had dinner yesterday in Sesame, we had tagliatelle lobster, Risotto steak and oysters as appetiser, the food was great and the service too. For us the location is the best, nice garden, far away from the crowds and a romantic atmosphereOnly negative point is the overpriced wines, if you order one it will increase considerably the bill. The rest was great.
We had a beautiful and really good dinner. Wine , food , location is very good but the most nice think it was the service. Johanna is so nice , she recommends us all the dishes and it was just an amazing experience. GRAZIE BELLA !Marco and Benedetta from Madrid !
Out of the hustle and bustle of the old town, this restaurant is a real gem! Jovana looked after us and made sure we had the best time. The food and drink was divine and we would highly recommend!
Beautiful location and great food. The 2 waitresses that were taking care of their outside tables/non reservation seating were both wonderful. She recommended the sea bass to accomodate my dairy allergy and it was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the brisket and it was so tender.
The ambience looks a bit simple but cosy. There is a big outside seating area at different levels. While being there, we enjoyed listening to a live piano player. The service and food quality is clearly above what the ambience suggests. I consider Sesame to be a hidden treasure, I can fully recommend the restaurant.
This was an amazing experience, the mussels with wine were exquisite! The staff is superb, attentive and kind. Will def come back.
Garden is nice, yet I had been bitten by mosquitos. The food was nice (Talliatele with lobster, yet nothing special. The prices are too high for the quantity and quality of the food. I could have skipped it all together and eat in one of the coast restaurants with a sea view and high prices.
Sesame is located a few minutes outside of the tourist meargrinder that is the Old town. Sesame is tucked away in a quiet laneway and makes the most of leafy trees and bushes and a variety of lights and colours to create a remarkable dining experience. This leads to an exquisite dining experience in a very unique ambiance. The food is good and the service is excellent. I would recommend this restaurant
Absolutley stunning restauraunt just outside of old town. Has a couple of vegan and vegetarian options. Staff were so friendly and helpful. A little pricey for a backpacker budget but a nice treat
For starters,The service was exceptional and really helpful. But The food was kind of expensive and not tasty enough to make it worth it.The risotto with the beetroot too sweet and bland. The steak was cooked well but kind of burnt on the top and the side dishes kind of burnt too (asparagus for exampleand small portion .The potatoes also undercookedWe were Kind of disappointed
We visited the restaurant on Sunday evening, as a group of 4. The staff was pleasant and really polite. The food was mediocre though, especially for a highly considered restaurant. The starter was a plate of cheese, prosciutto and nuts. Nothing can go wrong. The rissoto with mushrooms and steak was decentThe vegetarian risotto was something new to us , but the flavor didnt seem ok. Also we are not risotto experts, but we all agreed that the cooking of rise was not successful. Finally, the steak was ok for medium well. But the sides were a disappointment. The baby potatoes had a flavor like they were boiled instead of baked. The asparagus were burnt and the truffle didnt make any sense. We all considered the prices to be high for this kind of food at least.
To be fair the food was good and the atmosphere was nice too; hence my two stars. On the other hand, my advise to customers is never to order the ravioli!! Overpriced and was served a portion that should belong in the kids menu rather than the vegetarian one.We were totally ignored by the waitress when we asked for the bill to pay and had to ask a second time.
Place beautiful. But we had to wait a long time for someone to notice us and also ask two times to pay ( once they said Yes and just left it at thati expected the portions to be small, but only three pieces of ravioli were a bit much.
If youre not on a budget and would love to have a chill and premium experience in Dubrovnik, you can go to Sesame without a doubt!Nearby Pile Gate, the restaurant is terraced, hidden under trees (beware of the birds ;)and offers a wide selection of delicious cocktails and plates. They do have vegetarian options as well. The service is perfect, waiters are super nice. The food is great and tasty!
Next to Old Town like 3 min away from the busy Stradun, you will find Sesame in a hidden alley. This restaurant serves very good food my recommendation: duck breast and the steak! It has a nice place with light on the trees to sit outside and then there is upper level also fancy seats to sit on. The waitress was very kind and professional. They know what they do.
Dont come here. As chef I was Astonished by the products they presented and quality. I got mussels still salty and dirty inside. They didnt want to change it snd the wok dish was not presentable.
I cant say enough great things about this restaurant. The food is amazing, Great cocktails, just a perfect setting for a wonderful meal. The staff is great!!! They are all very friendly, polite, kind and most of all, extremely hard working. Thank you all for taking the best care of me during my stay in Dubrovnik. You made me feel like family!🥰
Brilliant food and excellent service . If you are looking for lunch just outside of the Old Town come here . The salads are amazing. Friendly staff and wonderful ambience. We will be back again.
Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant even if it is found on the “recommended restaurants of Dubrovnik” lists online. The food is very underwhelming and lacks flavour, and is very expensive! There’s much better restaurants in the area that are better priced.Chef will need to change up his menu and the quality of his food (especially that last point). There is no excuse for bad food in Croatia, fresh ingredients are easy to come by!
Nice cozy restaurant, cocktails were decent.Food is not on par as it is flavorless and way too expensive. I recommed you to go somewhere else if you plan on eating as there are much better places around.
Delicious food!! Great wines and cocktails! Thank you so much! Very friendly staff, too. I truly enjoyed my visits at Sesame. Hvala!
I had the Gazpacho and Muscles which were recommended after I explained my food mood - great recommendation. Service was excellent, very attentive. Setting is lovely. The food is expensive, but realistically only a little overpriced for the Dubrovnik, setting and quality. Drinks are standard prices for the area.
Really enjoyed my dinner at Sesame! Luka, our server, was excellent! Really attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and cocktails were strong! Well worth the visit!
The menu is a bit overpriced, we only had sandwiches, they were good, but I definitely dont recommend the fish soup. That was one of the worst I have ever had. Basically I had no fish in it and it tasted like water.
This was single handled the worse meal I have ever had in my life. Arrived, shown to my table, 15 minutes later we are greeted. 30 minutes later are drinks were taken, which were an extortionate price with an awful taste for signature cocktails. Our food arrived, raw, bland, flavourless which again were ridiculously overpriced. The tagliatelle was also not fresh and came undercooked, the bread was stale.I would pay every single person who is thinking to go not to. Trust me I would be doing you a favour because not only would I be saving you from the worst food and service you’d have, I would also be saving you from breaking your bank over a meal that you would be able to cook infinitely better yourself at home. If you do find yourself looking for any food, I’d highly recommend walking an extra 7-10 minutes into the old town where it’s not only cheaper but 1000x better.
Delightful location and atmosphere. Good food and attentive service. A pricing structure one would expect given its proximity to the walled city. A memorable evening.
Great food, lovely vibe. We ended up going back 4 times. Really nice vegetarian options as well, and so close to Dance beach!!
Best place to eat out at Dubrovnik! Kids friendly! Great and very kind service! Perfect suggestions to pair wine to food. I very recommend!
Great service! Food is a little pricey but worth it. Was there for dinner, the zucchini cheese rolls with tomato sauce is delicious, along with dessert.
Place is cute and relaxed. Menu is simple but overpriced and nothing special.I will gladly return for coffee to enjoy in shade after a long walk, but food didnt impress me.
