Restaurant Phnom Penh - Cambodian restaurant in Montreal, Canada
This restaurant is one of my best childhood memories. They always have delicious Hu Tieu ready and the staff then and now have always been friendly <3
great food and great owner and price is reasonable.
Great food, great service!
Service a bit slow and their noodles kinda regressed in terms of flavour compared to years ago when I used to go there more often. Still a good option if looking for Cambodian style noodles.
OG hu tieu placeI eat here since foreverThe Best 👌
Best hu tieu in the city. One of my go to places for a delicious lunch.
Authentic spot, great prices.
The rice noodle was ok. It hard to find parking around There
Good noodles 🍜
Good food, hole in the wall type of place. Locals eat there too, its authentic. Dont worry about the menu, ask questions or try the food blindly. Itll be good, doesnt matter what you order!
Amazing is the only word to describe the food
This place is absolutely delicious. Im not often in the area but when I happen to be, I always make sure we stop here for a quick lunch. The avocado smoothie is to die for. Highly recommend! Only little inconvenience is that this place is cash only (although may have changed since I last cameso just make sure you have some cash on you if you drop by!
Small place, friendly enviroment. Family business. Food good. Cash only place
Best Phnom Penh noodles! We ordered the dry style with the broth that comes on the side. We also ordered Chinese breakfast donuts which we dipped in our broth and an avocado shake. Next time Im going to order the beef/pork? shanks as I saw a family order it and honestly I was jealous. I will be coming back everytime I come to Montreal!
Friendly owner, cute servers and most of all, outstanding and delicious food
My favorite soup..
A true hidden gem! Quality is always consistent and excellent. My family craves their hu tieu on a weekly basis. Weve asked the chef if he considered opening a second restaurant closer to our home but he says he doesnt trust anybody elses taste buds to make & serve the soup perfectly... Oh well, we dont mind traveling 45 minutes by car to get there... even the heavy traffic on Décarie is worth it. I brought numerous friends and family to make them discover something different from the usual standard beef pho they can get anywhere. Their initial impression is always quite skeptical when they see the place for the first time, but the food speaks for itself.
Amazing Food and Service! Meal are affordable and So Delicious! Just miss the dine in !
Restaurant Phnom Penh is my favourite restaurant in Montreal. Their pho is phenomenal and the service is top-notch.
The best soup (vermicelle n noodle dry soupin Mtl n friendly service.
Delicious food, good quality and fair prices! Just remember its a CASH ONLY ;and no dine in pour le moment!
It was good and super low priced. Maybe I should have tried the soup instead of dry plate, but it tasted fresh, just lacking a little flavor that maybe the soup would bring.
Very Asian Asian food! Love it. I’ll come again. When I visited today, it’s 1. cash only, 2, take out only 3. only five dishes on the menu.
Definitely get the hu tieu nam vang. The broth is amazing, the soup toppings are great. I would also recommend to get the fried bread with it.
Montreals best kept secret.Forget the grimy stairs and sticky tables. Forget the half empty aquarium and stains on the walls. This place is the truth. As much as it pains me to tell my friends (and the worldabout this diamond in the rough (right next to the carpet store that has been on sale for 20 years now on Jean Talon), I cant help myself.Their hu tieu or mi nam vang (a Cambodian dish originally that has been adapted and reinvented in different south vietnamese citiesis the single greatest dish that you will have in Montreal, and all that, for less than 10$. Try the "kho" (dryversion, with the broth on the side, for a perfect combination of chewy noodles, crispy fish ball, and hearty meat tossed in fried garlic, green onions and the perfect oyster based sauce that I have attemped and failed to recreate in numerous tries.
Hidding gem! Its hard to find the restaurant but the foods was amazing. It was a very clean soup. The meat was soft. Everything was fresh. The homemade imperial roll was delicious and juicy. The servics was good. A gentleman explain to us about the menu gently. Its a family restaurant. The ambiance is more casual. Not a place for a date, but a place to eat good food! Also bring your cash. They dont take credit
We read an excellent critique in La Presse and decided to give it a taste test. It lived up to the press clippings.Their soups are absolutely delicious, the large portion makes a perfect lunch.Be advised that it is cash only, parking takes some creativity and the decor is quite ordinary - but the taste makes up for it.
I used to work super close to that place and to have lunch there about 3-4 times a week. It looks like nothing from the outside so my colleagues did not trust me at first about that place. But eventually, I convinced one of them to join me and he loved it as much as I do. So, more colleagues started to come here and everybody loved the place.I even had a colleague who asked the owner if he could teach him how to cook like that and he just said "Of course! Come to the kitchen with me!". So, every time that my colleague was eating there, he was cooking his meal with the owner. He even spent vacations in Vietnam with him once!I think that the only person who had lunch there more often than me was the bean sprout delivery guy. Every single time, that I was there, I saw him come with his big box of bean sprouts, take it to the kitchen and then, sit down and have lunch.A couple of years ago, my job moved and it was too far away for me to continue having lunch there. But I still eat there once in a while and its just as good as it was before.I really miss the time when that place was a 30 seconds walk from my job
Great place for Phnom Penh soup. The broth was savory and aromatic. Noodles and all their meat sides were good. I removed a point as sadly they didnt have the beef bones to add to the broth AND the shrimp was really small (yes singular). The price is pretty standard, A little gem that most would miss and yet filled with regular patrons.Coming back for sure.
One of the best hu tiu nam vang! Small place on a second floor. The soup is flavourful and taste authentic. They are specialized in hu tiu soup, so you wont find pho or other noodle soup in their menu. The main reason why i did not give a 5 stars is due to the cleanliness of the place. The tables are quite sticky...and the place itself doesnt look that clean. But who cares right? The food is great!**They are closed on Wednesdays!
Great service and food. Simple menu packed with tons of flavor. I would recommend trying the Phnom Penh noodles with soup on the side.
This is a hidden gem of cultural experience in montreal. You will walk in there and see everyone eating the same soup. Order that soup and come give me a thumbs up after you realise it changed your life.
Love this place. Owner is super friendly. No pictures on the menu, and since Cambodian good isnt well known, inexperienced eaters may find it a little hard to understand. Their specialty is soup noodles, I recommend the half&half bowl (half yellow (rgg), half white (ricenoodles). Their imperial rolls and grilled firshballs are delicious, get them!
Not the typical taste of pho. I dont know how to describe it, but it is not something I will recommend. Price is decent. Decor is old. Service is friendly
Nice hidden spot. Had the #1 dry and it was amazing. The staff is very friendly and waited before serving me and my friend when I left to get money out (theyre cash only). The broth and noodles are top notch and taste great. Their iced coffee is AMAZING.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this gem of a restaurant?! Service is friendly and the owner(?of the restaurant is a joy to talk to and interact with. The food is AWESOME and so reasonably priced. I recommend ordering the number 1, separate soup. The iced coffees are great too. Can’t wait to go back, already dreaming about the next meal there!
I do like it. Really good and the service is very good
The Phnom Penh noodle was good. However, it’s hard to find parking and the place is not clean. You cannot tell whether they open or not from the outside look. I was there at 9am and the table was packed. It’s a food for local rather than visitor.
This place looks ghetto but dont let the looks of it fool you, the food is delicious. Owner is always smiling and so welcoming. Service is fast and you wont be disappointed with the portions.Would absolutely recommend this place!
family run small restaurant. One of the best hu tieu soupe that I know of . The place exists for over 30 years, and the taste is constant (as well as the decor:-P
A simple and hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurant that serves an authentic hi tieu / mi Nam Vang. The menu offers 12 dishes and 2 sides. We ordered the specialty soup (item #1and BarBQ chicken on rice (item #12). Both were good. The Vietnamese coffee was adequate but needs a little more milk. The restaurant opens every day except Wednesday from 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM and located on the 2nd floor (where the sign is).
The place is clean and the staff, especially the owner, is super friendly and nice. The food is really delicious. You might want to go after rush hours so you can be sitted immediatly.
By far the best Cambodian noodles. Love how the place is so small and authentic. Owner is also so nice!
Very authentic Cambodian spot. A real hidden gem; nice, small and cozy with great service. Small selection of food but made perfectly.
4 stars for food and an additional star for service. The place is not large so be prepared for a line in rush hours. The dry noodle taste good, the sause is full of flavor and soup works perfectly to balance the heavy flavor of sause. Like the deep fried fishball in the noodles most. A small portion costs less then $8. Good price for such quality of food.
Hidden Gem over a carpet store on the corner of Jean-Talon and Cote des neiges.Best Hu Tieu in town. The owner is really nice and has been taking care of the customers for years.
First of all, let me tell you straight up that the food here is good but not the best. Secondly, the place is not just old but dirty and dusty. you can see a bunch of tooth picks inside the air conditioning vent. Also probably an old cigarette package and a bunch of other random things stuffed in there, it probably has been left there for a long time. Now you can probably imagine what it might would look like in the kitchen. Thirdly the restaurant only accept cash, very inconvenient. Lastly, the food is not that cheap, if you compare the same type of food at other restaurants. The reason I went there because I have read good google reviews, it turned out to be pretty disappointed, probably I have too high of expectations for the restaurant.
This place looks like old beat down grassy mom and pop restaurant that you would find in Asia. You know the food will be good when 99% of the clientele are either Vietnamese or Asian. Their speciality is called Hu Tiu Nam Vang (which I like mine with yellow noodle)... me I like to add a side order of Asian beignet called Dau Chao Quay which you dip in the soup broth. For drinks, I like to order either the avocado smoothie (Sinh To Boor the ice Vietnamese style coffee with condensed milk.SECRET OFF MENU DISH!! On the weekend, the regular knows that we can order a succulent bowl of bones to suck and nib on. There is only a limited quantity so make sure to arrive early and ask for the bowl of yummy bones.
When everyone who eats there are Vietnamese, you know this place will not disappoint. Food tastes great at a cheap price! Its a restaurant that we often go back to
Another good place for Phnom Penh noodle soup. Been going there since I was a child and quality is always there. Be sure to have a Vietnamese coffee too!
