Restaurant Petrus at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong - French restaurant in Hong Kong, Hong Kong
it was such a fantastic experience with Petrus to celebrate our anniversary... the services and ambience were fantastic... love it!
Very good service. Lunch menu is great, tried almost every options today. Will definitely come back for dinner. Wine pairing by the sommelier was perfect.
The 2 WoW chefs, Chef Uwe and Chef Romain for a very satisfying dinner since the trip to San Sabastian. From amuse bouche to the souffle infused with rum and raisin ice cream, every dish created with the finest details to give the utmost culinary pleasure.
Super nice dining place, great food, superior view and friendly service. Highly recommend.
Quite nice dinner wedding party tonight. Services very nice..delicious food
Great fine dining experience at the venue. We had a private table with Habour view. Good food, good atmosphere & excellent service.
Theres something about traditional fine dining that makes me feel out of this world. Whether it be the perfect table setting, the widely spaced tables or top notch service, it carries a whiff nostalgia of what fine dining is and should be.Tableware, cutlery, glasses were gorgeous and perfect. Especially the tableware...Nowadays for the same price point and hype from the newer fine dines, you could be sitting at a table lined with parchment with no place but the napkin to hide your legs and eating out of industrialized tableware. Anything nice and the staff would alert you that it was especially sourced by the restaurant... errrrrr.. whats become casual chic is really just a lowering of standards in a way. But anyway, its nice to refresh yourself by coming to restaurants such as this and enjoying the ambiance and service. We ordered off the a la carte instead of having 2 sets of the tasting menu. We took all of the starters (beef tartare, cep, prawn and slow cooked eggand opted for a lobster with corn, black garlic and coconut sauce, as well as the river trout with potatoes, sweet jam and yellow wine sauce. You can see from the photos that the two mains looked similar, something for the restaurant to think about. We ordered separately 4 glasses of their wine from the museum collection, but the waiter selected both our white and red from their "Unlocking the Cellar" series (they were the same price). I think next time we would ask for more full bodied red although their recommendations were nice. All of the dishes were delicious and I cannot recommend any over the other. I was surprised by this. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ deserves a few of these. We ordered the Fig dessert and cheese platter for the dessert. My view here is not to order the chese as it was after all only a cheese platter and not so eventful and you may as well order another dessert and see what they have in store for you then. The brilliant Savarin cheese was notable and we went out to look for more after lunch.Great experience, would definitely dothis again, I miss these restaurants ❤️.
Petrus is one of the nicest restaurants we have ever been to. Staff, food, ambience. Incredible!
Beautiful experience. Most breathtaking views of Hong Kong and incredibly creative and delicious food.
Good food and good environment
This restaurant serves good food, quiet and very private - though the decor is somewhat on the grandeur side for my taste. There’s a good selection of wine and bread was also delicious with the Mediterranean red prawns ( signature dish), my saffron fish was not really to my liking but I don’t fault the cooking technique just the flavours was not to my liking. Most of the dining guests are more on the mature end but most of the time your eyes will be glued to the view - try to get the tables near to the windows at the rear end ( 180 degree view of Kowloon side).Service is impeccable- even arranged the birthday cake so beautifully! Thank you island Shangri-La team - beautiful lunch it was!
It was an enjoyable evening for us to get away from the city blues. The service and food at Petrus has always been good and occasionally brought us surprises. We loved the red prawn and lobster, both were perfectly cooked to retain their true taste. The hotel sommelier Julian Petros was amazing - exceptionally knowledgeable and his recommendations made the dinner a highly enjoyable experience. Thank you Julian!
Time to wine down ~Christmas is coming. If you are looking to wow your other half, you cant go wrong with #Petrus, full of glass chandeliers and pale yellow table lamps. The dimly-lit romantic ambience is sure to set your hearts racing.Opt for 4-courses ($1288)~Reignite sparks over jumbo red prawn and foie gras. The pip is a real cherry with the real pip removed and then stuffed foie gras and pistachio ~ amazing presentation metaphors my heart burns cherry red for you. The main course is for sure served with steak, its presentation is impressive with the cow made of cauliflower and morels. Then share the signature fluffy pistachio souffle for the perfect ending. If all that doesn’t win over your love, maybe the stunning views of Victoria Harbour will.😘Good luck guys 💪💪💪
Gals date with French fine-dining:The view is breathtaking especially under perfect sunshine day! The HK skyline and Victoria Habour come into view & it’s gorgeous! The ambience is cozy which decorates in classic French style! We opted for 3 course tasting lunch menu on the date & were definitely enjoyed the taste of every single dish! The service are great and staff are welcoming & attentive! Highly recommend to visit and would love to revisit in the future!
Delicious and exquisite French cuisine and high-quality and dedicated service. With the beautiful sea view of Victoria Harbour, satisfy the taste buds and are pleasant.
Great service, great decor, great looking dishes. I didn’t get the flavour profiles of the dishes, though all the dishes seem to have been carefully designed.
Great service, great decor, great looking dishes. But the jazz music, from swing to even bebop with fierce sax solos, was too loud for me and didn’t match the place at all. And I didn’t get the flavour profiles of the dishes, though all the dishes seem to have been carefully designed.
Been one of my favourite restaurants in the city for a long time. View and ambience always great. However, I do miss some of the old menu items and found the portions to have gotten a bit smaller recently after they put in place the set menu. Will come by later on and try the summer menu.
Amazing service. Friendly staff.Nice and quiet place. Beautiful view of the harbor.Restaurant decor is a lovely classical French.Food quality is amazing.
This time the meals are as good as usual, I heard the chef will change the menu and I am excited to come for my next visit here.
I love French cuisine, this restaurant use very good quality ingredients and serve excellent dishes. Very good service.
Absolutely phenomenal food, presentation, service and atmosphere topped off with a gorgeous view (was able to dine in a corner table a tad farther from all the other tables). Its price is more than worth it if youre looking for a special and memorable evening. Or to bring an already special evening to the next level.
Excellent French food on top of the Shangri La. Very well executed, full of flavour. The Chef is great with a very deep knowledge of french food and the service staff is really working hard to make your stay a proper fine dinning experience. The view from the restaurant is among the best in Hong Kong. Really recommend it.
Amazing decor and beautiful food with great flavours. The Chef and service staffs are fantastic. A great experience. I truly recommend it!
Excellent: exceptional service and ambience, the classic Hong Kong view and elegant French cuisine done consistently through the years. Appropriate for special occasions
good environment, good food, good service
Overpriced and was not impressed by anything. At 50kg weight and 173cm, i left hungry after chef special course of 4 courses. The atmosphere is not as great as the pictures and was too cold in the room.
Great service, nice harbor view with France dish. Especially gain a knowledge from Sommelier, what a great Sunday
Nice place, nice food, nice harbour view
Superb experience, gorgeous view, excellent food, and service. We were so sad to leave.Thank you for treating us to such an awesome time, and the food is wonderful. Oh the dim sum is from the one star Michelin restaurant was wonderful 👍👍👍
My boyfriend just proposed to me in this amazing place with awesome cuisine, tables are big for 2 and service is excellent .We will definitely come back again!
Came for lunch at the top of Island Shangri-la. Foie gras was delicate and superbly presented. Attentive, unobtrusive service. A stunning 15-storey mural greets you when you get off the elevator.
Surprisingly impressive! Maybe due to too much competitions so It’s very easy to book with compare to other fine dinning restaurants. So it’s very quiet with high level of privacy and not to mention attentive services too! Food is amazing, surprisingly pleasantly impressive! Better than one of the very famous Michelin star restaurant!
Beautiful environment, very attentive service, and the food is of course both lovely to see and to taste. WE opted for the 6 course tasting menu and ordered a bottle of a la carte wine. The food presented on each plate was a piece of art work, almost too pretty to eat. The sweetbread was surprisingly delicious and the veal was perfectly tender and juicy. The dessert was absolutely outstanding...I only wish the portions were bigger and I could get a few more bites !
While a French restaurant, it is nestled on the 7/F of the hotel and it exudes an old world charm reminscent of scenes in books likeThe Piano Teacher by Janice Lee and a bit Joy Luck Cub, movies like The World of Suzie Wong, In the Mood for Love 花样年华, Love is a Many Splendored Thing. There are masterful paintings outside the restaurant on the same floor and one of my favourites is the girl in Chinese mandarin top with the candle lighting up the night. This hotel tries hard to protect the environment and offers still or sparking water to guests made from filter on site and donates leftover bread and pastries to the needy via Foodlink. Delicious dishes (you can tell the food quality by the excellent homemade bread servedand priced around HK$1300 per person for full dinner course set meal with wine. Try the dessert wine and the yellowish butter bread.
Small portion, average presentation and taste. Totally didn’t expect this with the reputation and price charged.
Portion is enough for petite size. Always like the truffle they serve.. 😋😋
This was an outstanding experience. I was treated to dinner for my birthday and it was an exceptional evening. The food, drink, service and general ambience was absolutely first class. Could not fault anything. Outstanding views of Victoria harbour, quite exceptional cuisine, and wonderful company (you have to arrange that bit yourself). Highly recommended.
Came for dinner on a weekday. Place is quite small, but the tables are far apart and it wasnt packed. The view from the 50th plus floor is great and you can see a lot of HK from up here.We chose the vegetarian meal which clearly listed out whether the food was vegan and whether it contained gluten.Service was great and the waiters were very attentive to our needs. The vegetarian food was well made and the dessert was delicious. However portions were on the small side (other than the dessert which was quite big).Price ended up being around $1000 per person for a 4 meal course. For the price I was a bit disappointed. The food was good, but not mind-blowing and in my opinion not worth the price.
Service is excellent, food is very good but menu stays forever with only minor changes. O. 4&1/2 stars plus
Nice food but limited selection. Wine menu is great though.
Elegant dining spot with a great view of Hong Kong’s skyline, perched right at the top of Island Shangri-La. The breakfast options are limited (which can be a problem for vegetarians - but there are other dining options in the hotelbut all pretty good. The scrambled eggs with lobster is a good choice if you’re in the mood for a rich breakfast. It’s also mentioned in Crazy Rich Asians (the book), actually, for anyone who’s interested.
A great experience champagne event at petrus.
Nice view, need to get the window seat. Good selection of wine and food, excellent service.
Good view and the view is good. One of the best place to celebrate with your partner.
Great views and service. One of the best French restaurants in town. Always a treat
Amazing views from the top of the shangri la, the food is excellent, done with care and passion, you can almost feel the chef speaking trough the dishes. Great choice for a romantic dinner
Our guest from overseas asked for French food. We obliged by bringing her to the Restaurant Petrus at the Island Shangri-La Hotel in the Pacific Place area.I had the six-course Chef’s Signature Menu: the Daniel Sorlut oyster was huge, tender and fresh and it was served with sliced physalis and shallot cream; then came an artful presentation of a due of quinoa salad, smoked trout and petite vegetables; after which, the creamy spelt risotto with wild mushrooms and foamy vin jaunt sauce was served; the Langoustine paillard and Oscietra caviar was the conversation dish of the evening - and we all wished that there was more; the penultimate dish, a grilled monkfish with celeriac and champagne sauce was filling although the fish was a bit overdone; and, after all that, I barely had room for the delightful fig tart and yoghurt ice cream (which I was happy to share). My wife started with the excellent red prawn salad with heirloom radish. It was then followed by the hay-smoked Charolais beef tenderloin with Jerusalem artichoke. She also asked for the optional white truffle. My guest had the duck foie gras terrine Mandarin with three-spice powder to start and it was served with apple puree and tiny green apples. The foie gras could have been cooked a tad more. Her main dish was the Averyron lamb rack with ricotta and Brussels sprout which was also overcooked. The dinner was very good but could have been better.
Classic restaurant with great food, friendly staff and chef is super nice too. Will come back to this Icon of HK french dining, Had a great lunch a few days back and we both agreed this restaurant had been improving non stop since our last visit.Great job!
Decor, service, presentation all great. The food itself was just so so. Taste was slightly off...maybe it was just me.
