Great food, amazing makalo and tafche gravche, nice traditional atmosphere and great service

In the center of the city, hidden in a small street is an amazing place. Cozy, not too crowded, excellent staff. We tried several dishes both meet and vegetarian and it was all delicious.

Had a pork steak t bone which was absolutely excellent.I mark the restaurant down because not one waiter had even a smile.

I’d never have found this restaurant if it wasn’t for the online reviews and recommendations, and feel the need to add my own since it’s a superb place and one of the highlights of my trip to the city. It’s not in the immediate centre so it’s unlikely you’d wander past, but it’s an easy walk from any of the main locations.The interior is incredible. Feeling really authentic and traditional, with a water feature in the centre, it’s both comfortable and memorable.Arriving late afternoon I had free choice of almost any table but each of them are large and there’s not going to be a case of feeling cramped here.The member of staff allocated to my table was incredible. While remaining friendly and professional he recommended both super wine options and meal dishes, each of which was perfect. I was surprised to get the bottle of wine decanted through an aerator into my glass and was kept topped up proactively throughout the meal.The menu has a great range of items, but by using the QR code on the table you can also see photos of each dish, in case there’s any confusion; there’s free wifi offered to do this. Food portions were large and arrived quickly and gosh, what wonderful dishes they were! The veal carpaccio starter was really tasty with loads of salad and shavings of cheese. But the winning dish had to be the pork ribs, which smelt divine and is easily the best pork I’ve ever had.Unfortunately my schedule didn’t let me visit again, which was a shame as I’d love to return with it being easily the best meal I had in the city! A must visit in my mind!

A nice old restaurant with great food. After we orders the food came in 10 minutes for 7 people .

We were recommended by our host to eat here. Its nog the best location, but definitely worth going here. Great atmosphere, amazing food. Local options but also the pasta were very tasty.

I loved the food (which is mostly classic Balkan cuisine). Service was fantastic, the portions are really good size. There is also live music.

Nice restaurant near hotel Super 8. The meal was great at a normal price. We had TURLI TAVA CASSEROLE and SHEPHERDS SALAD. Both meals were very tasty. The staff was nice. Too bad they dont have beer on tap. I recommend this restaurant.

Our favorite place :Vistiting for many years. Food, staff and service-on top level ! You MUST come here if you visiting Skopje.My favorite- bread with garlic butter and parsley. We try to came here at least once a mounth.

Historic restaurant with very good food, quality employees and nice atmosphere.

We arrived at 10 something PM. And I asked do they have a table for 2, without any explanation or real answer the waiter just answered no, no, no. Really rudely. Ive also been there before and the food is very mediocre, would not recommend to be honest. Debar maalo restaurant or skopsko merak is much better. Has live music, better service and better food.

Its a nice place to take a lunch or a dinner. You can choose from a variety of different meals and the portions are quite big. The location is situated near city center in a quiet place.

Excellent experience in this exceptionally beautiful traditional restaurant in the center of the city.The food, atmosphere, service, was perfect. One of the best restaurants in Skopje to taste local cuisine. I highly reccomend the ajvar, pindzur and all th mezes that they serve. Absolutly delicious. The restaurant also has live Macedeonian music.

Nice ethnic atmosphere with nice service.We ordered:-Shopska salad-Smoothered lamb pot-Pork ribs in oven-Local beer.Salad and lamb was delicious. Pork ribs was so oily for my taste. But it was well cooked.Prices are a little touristic but worth the experience and service

Two people in our group stumbled across this restaurant while exploring Skopje earlier in the day and suggested that we give it a try. So glad we did. The food was divine! The pork rib is oven was tasty - well seasoned. The others in our party enjoyed their dishes as well - Old House Pot and Bean stew. The wait staff were helpful and provide quick and efficient service. Our meal for 4 people came up to about $70USD including tip - not bad. The restaurant is located not too far from the Old City.

Very charming restaurant with traditional Macedonian food. We had some casserole type dishes which were very nice. We also really had a fondness for the sesame breadsticks.Nice staff.

Beautiful restaurant in the city center, with delicious food, very polite and professional staff and lovely interior. There are all kinds of specialties on the menu, with decent price range. Beautifully clean toilet, which is a huge plus.

Interior was tranquil with nice decorations but food was horrible; chiken and beef steak was too dry, chips was cold. Staffs were grumpy to serve.

A place to try traditional Macedonian food and good Macedonian wines. The food was very good both quality and quantity. The wine card has good selection of local wines. Recommended.

Old City House was recommended to us by a local, and he was right on the money. Everything was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and the building and decor are lovely.Our excellent waiter made some recommendations for traditional food, and the wine to go with it, and our meal was absolutely perfect.

Very pleasant surprise for me 🥰I was there with my lawyer on New Years eve, and the owner didnt want to charge us for the drinks. That was so sweet but anyway I give that money like tips for the waiter.But thats very nice and polite to treat your clients with respect 🙏.Definitely recommend the restoran because the food is very tasty, freshly baked and very beautiful atmosphere goes around .Keep up the good work 👏

Excellent restaurant. Been here several times and everything was always great. Beautiful local interior and delicious local food. There are a lot of restaurants with local cuisine in the city, however, if you want to fully immerse yourself in the local flavour and taste some really delicious local food, then I definitely recommend this place. Convenient and beautiful electronic menu. The restaurant is located in the centre of the city, but at the same time, the place is cosy and quiet. The prices are quite reasonable. I recommend this restaurant if you would like to fully feel the local flavour.

Traditional restaurant - from the interior to the food, one gets immersed into the Macedonian culture. Staff is very polite and friendly, always ready to help. Food is exquisit - meat tender, fresh and well cooked paired with different vegetable creating a perfect symphony. As each ingedient is fresh and full of its own flavour, there are no extra added flavour strengthers.A must-visit restaurant when one finds themselves in Skopje and wishes to experience Macedonia’s culture!

What a wonderful location, food, atmosphere and staff! We spent a week around Skopje and had the pleasure to dine at this restaurant a few times and it never disappointed us! It is a true gem of Macedonian food and tradition, located in an original wooden style local house, converted in a beautiful restaurant. Theres also a very good music entertainment, not sure if its only at the weekend or holiday time, but it was great! Food is very tasty and very well presented and the staff is very attentive and helpful!The only thing you need to be aware of is that they smoke inside, but its the same in anywhere, as in Macedonia you can still smoke inside locals.If I was ever to go back to Skopje, I would definitely visit again this restaurant!

Best restaurant in Skopje so far. As a vegetarian it is hard to find a place that offers something tasty and fulfilling in the Balkan. This place offers an excellent oven vegetable dish and baked potatoes. Service is fast polite and kind. And the atmosphere is nice.

Nice experience in a traditional place recommended by a friend! Huge pleskavica with cheese, spicy lyutenitsa, classical salad. The place is nice! From outside it might look closed but should not be!

This is an amazing gem off the main drag a bit, well worth the extra steps. Great Macedonian cuisine. You will pay half as compared to the restaurants that lure many tourists from the дистрист plaza.

Food was good portions huge prices reasonable and the staff super accommodating. They called several taxi places for us and found us a table despite being fully booked. live music is authentic but can be a bit loud. Its permanently packed so book ahead, its a very atmospheric place. Service was fast and very friendly. Wine by the glass not the best go for a bottle.

Not cheap but so worth going. Their house wine was one of the best red wines I have ever had!!? Definitely try their hot pot and turli tava!!!!

Excellent local food, good value for money ratio (for EU standardswith an average main dish price of aproximentely 7 EUR, nice atmosphere, but unfortunatelly poor choice of beers and slow and unpolite service.

excellent venue, great service, exquisite traditional food (veal, pork, lamb); decent prices: 4 main courses with 2 desserts, beers & wine, for 50euros. Highly recommended.

This has a great atmosphere and nice open-air courtyard for sure. And the service was good. But since I live in Istanbul and have to compare to the Turkish kitchen, I really can’t say much about the food. The veal soup was tasty enough, but mostly the food could have had a lot more seasoning and flavor... we were disappointed.

An authentic ethno restaurant. Great food and service. I can get touristic crowed still they manage somehow to serve everybody. Mid to high end prices.

They say its the oldest house in the city, but anyways its a good restaurant. A fine and high standard restaurant with the concept of a traditional Macedonian restaurant. Enjoyable live music, good staff.
