Restaurant Kukeleku in Amsterdam

The staff was friendly, the restaurant looked beautiful on the inside. The chicken however was raw. We asked the waiter to put the chicken back in the oven, which he did, but it came back still raw. After eating a particularly raw piece of chicken, with the taste of chicken blood in our mouths and with us both feeling nauseous we decided to give up on our food. I washed down the taste of blood with the sweetest drink I could find. This was also the restaurant I chose in my futile attempt to convert a pescatarian into a chicken eater. The poultry of the world rejoice, as she promised never to try chicken again after this experience.

Waiting for 2.5 hours now. They wont answer the phone, wont respond, have my order as “preparing” so i cant cancel or refund. Have ordered here before and always like the food but now really disappointed and lost a fan with this terrible experience

When arriving at the restaurant it was clear that there were not so many employees. Because of this it everything took a little bit longer, but that was no problem for us. We took the kwart chicken which tasted as expected and the spicy burger which was spicy. The quality of the food was okay, the atmosphere in the restaurant was also nice and the prices are very friendly.

Average experience. The food was ok and the price was fine.

Had a bit of a long wait as a large group came into just before me. However the food was great, generous portion sizes and amazing food!

Small restaurant with good food. Service is a bit slow so dont go if in a hurry.

The waiter is really friendly but their dont have any communication between the boss and the stuff. We had reservations for 2 persons special lunch but somehow the waiter didnt know about that but he has made something else to us.

Delicious food and a great atmosphere.The homemade sodas are great too!

Very good chicken restaurant. I had the half chicken and shared the spicy burger with roasted vegetables. Both dishes were very good and the portion size was good too. I would have loved to see more sauce in the burger.I can confidently recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves chicken.

Worst chicken experience ever! Even when staff was friendly the food was bad, did not match the menu and food was poorly prepared and served. Will not be coming back!

A very kind staff and quick service at this place. Had an Amsterdam Kipsate, well cooked grilled chicken with some house special sauce. Would definitely come back for more someday.

It is the second time to have meal here, reasonable price with friendly staffs.

If you like chicken this is the right place to go however last time I eat the Chicken pasta tagliatella and it was delicious! I think its the best pasta I have ever try! its like cheese cream with pasta and some nuts on the top 😊 lekker!!! So much love for this place 🙂👌🏼

I ordered half a chicken and a salad. I had to wait about an hour for it. I couldnt eat the chicken because it was still half raw. The waiter asked me when paying if everything was okay, but he wasnt interested. At 30€(!for half a chicken, a salad and a mint tea I definitely expected more.

Nice place where is possible eat one nice chicken and drink.The staff is nice, kind and professional if you are in Amsterdam and close to this place you have to go one time and trying

Waited 1h30m. Staff were totally weird and freaked us out a bit so we left a 20 for drinks and partially served food and left. Humus was also quite bad, mostly just sour cream.One of the dishes we did get, a salad, was okay.Also, one of the waitresses was really sweet and tried to motivate the lazy chef to do any work, then at one point the weird manager guy came out and I don’t know what happened exactly but she stormed out and we didn’t see her again. I felt only bad for her, she was probably the only one doing her best and not totally smoked out.

My family and I stopped into Kukeleku for lunch one day during our stay in Amsterdam and it was a great decision!The food was full of delicious flavors, it was the kind of food you find comfort in and leave content after a meal.The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming with the centerpiece of their decor being a beautiful blue and white tiled wall covered with shapes and cute little chickens.Not only was the food amazing but the customer service was top notch, our waitress was very sweet and Chef Lucas made us feel spoiled with his attention to detail and enthusiastic personality.To top it off my daughter who is 4 absolutely adored him.Thanks you again for the great meal and experience Kukeleku!

Amazing chicken! Very friendly staff. We used a Groupon but feel it would still be a great value even with out. You wont be disappointed.

Very big and tasty chicken burgers. Theres no additional fries or salads, but they are not needed since burgers themself are huge!

This experience was a little like the "Avocado Show" (The famous avocado restaurant in Amsterdambut with chicken. Every recipe has Chicken. Very good attention from the waitress. The price is a little above the medium price in AMS but well deserved.

Best chicken dishes in Amsterdam for sure. Prices are very reasonable. They also serve coffee with honey and a waffle, and it only costs €3.

Service was friendly and fast, portion was enormous. I was not quite expecting the satay to be quite so smothered in sauce, but it was still tasty. Its a cozy place and there happen to be loud people (perhaps drunk or stonedyou will not be able to avoid them but that is more about random people being rude than the restaurant...

I went there with my family recently while on holiday, and boy is the food terrific. I had their Chicken Sate, and it was perfect. Ive only had sate once before but theirs was better. Served with chips (as is the Amsterdam way), prawn cocktail crisps, and a salad, the whole meal was perfect. The waiter was a little overzealous in his manners, but that was only a minor issue. Overall, 4.8 with decimals, 5 rounding up. Will return if in area again.

€16.50 is a bit expensive for a half a roast chicken, but the wait-staff at Kukeleku are very pleasant, and the portions are quite well-sized. The location is not quite in the tourist hellspot that is the Leidseplein, which makes the volume bearable and the people-watching fun. Avoid the sides: they’re not worth the extra money (although the fries are delicious, with great crispy skin). The coleslaw is especially disappointing but the roast vegetables are also a bit meh. The chicken though: cooked really well, not dried out and not dripping grease - all very tasty.

Great organic chicken, Good craft beer and a tasty avocado side. Not expensive and good service.

Average food. Chicken was good, but many other things were overly spiced. They had some nice flower flavored house made sodas which were quite good. Good prices. Not too crowded.

This restaurant offers you perfect delicious organic products. I tasted the best chicken here but the prices are higher than the average .....

Food was delicious. Rôtisserie was very good. If only you have a better waiter.My friend was there, he was too hungry and after losing his way for 20 minutes, had to ask a plate to share. We were about to order another set, BUT HE WAS TAKEN ABACK BY ONE OF THE RUDEST AND MOST SARCASTIC STAFF WEVE EVER MET.That spoiled our whole dining experience, and we had to move somewhere for desserts.Only coming back here again if this restaurant decides to take subsequent actions on their staff.

We stumbled across this place and had the MOST delicious meal. Chicken and chips with a great selection of sides - in central Amsterdam for a great price! What more could you want. Would definitely recommend 🤤

Very tasty, well seasoned chicken and juice. Reasonable price as it said to be organic. Dips for the chicken very good as well. The waiter was super friendly and fun – fluent in english as well. For the pricerange (20-30€ per personprobably one of the best restaurants you will find in the area.

Even though the food is reasonably good and well priced, the service is terrible. As we were seated, we ordered a glass of tap water, for which we were charged, €1,50 for the cold water and €3 for warm water, which was charged as "tea". When we asked about the €3 charge we got a "ok... do you have time? Because I can explain but it might be complicated", which ended up in the waiter explaining that the restaurant had to pay bills and salaries and therefore warm water was more expensive. Getting the waiter to pay attention to us when we wanted to get our bill was super hard too. So, in the end, we got ok food for an ok price (mains are €11 -€17), a rude waiter, and 15 minutes of the rudest mansplaining (mainly to justify a ridiculous and abusive charge). We will definetly NEVER go back.

Great organic chicken meals served by lovely staff.

This restaurant specialises in locally reared organic chicken, birds are Roasted on a rotisserie and served with a selection of sides. The chicken had good taste and texture, it was noticeably better than the usual chicken served in restaurants. Staff were smiley and premises clean. We had a lovely time there.
