Restaurant Ikanos in Montreal

Went for mtlatable. Go go go! The food was absolutely delicious! Wine list is a little short and expensive but the food made up for it. Thanks for a wonderful dinner and evening!

I got one sentence to decribe this place... What an enchanting seafood wonderland!

First of all - maybe this is an isolated incident but it took us 10 minutes to find the entrance. It was during the pandemic. There was no sign anywhere so we went around the building and back. Hopefully its been fixed!Nicely decorated. The Caesars salad was amazing and had a big portion. Other dishes were fine.... except for the scallops. I remember it was around $23. And when the waiter brought it to us, we were shocked. It was 2 small, grilled scallops in a metal tin. I am not kidding. No decoration, sauce, or even on a plate! Not sure if Ill go back to dine in; maybe a takeout for the Ceasars sald though!

Really enjoyed this place. We took a 4 course meal to share and it was a great experience. We spent 2 hrs talking while tasting some delicious dishes!

Amazing experience here. Who knew you could dry age fish like a steak? The dry aged salmon sashimi was to die for! Seafood platter was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Make sure you get the fried cheese and tzatziki!

After placing our order, we waited around 25 minutes until we had to ask the waiter what was going on with our meal and drinks, which we then learned they had prepared and forgotten. The food was expensive, with very small portions, and overcooked. Not worth it.

Grossly overpriced! Our food was rushed and arrived to our table cold. The manager was aloof and should consider choosing a different career. The only saving grace was our server Josh. He did his best to salvage our experience. He was very pleasant,polite and tried his best to turn a bad situation to pleasant one.

IKANOS! !WOW! By accident, what LUCK!! We found a treasure! - Walked in and had quite possibly the best meal in our many decades of travesl!!! The Lobster !!WOW!! The Tuna !!WOW!! The Snow Crab Salad! !!WOW!! -We have eaten lobster & mariscos north & south of the equator; up and down Atlantic & Pacific shorelines. IKANOS one of our very best experiences! We only speak spanish & english. All we can say is !WOW! !QUE RICA LA COMIDA! Sorry, we cannot remember names of owers/staff this morning. Thank you to all of the Staff/Owners at IKANOS! We are from far away New Mexico USA - We are well traveled. IKANOS is at the top of our list! On our next trip to Montreal, which we have this morning newly placed for next June, we will be back at a little table in the front corner smiling and laughing - wife and I - in love with each other. Thank You! IKANOS!!

Terrible experience. We ordered through Ubereats and part of the order was missing and also portions were too small for the price that We paid . and also quality of the food is really bad compare of the other Greek restaurants in the city like Milos or Petros.

It would be impossible to recommend your restaurant to a friend. The food was just awful. Mostly overcooked, generally bland and doubtably fresh. I only liked the zucchini but I can’t justify the price I paid and feel good about it.

Awful experience at ikanosThe unprofessional service of the waiters at this restaurant is a pity, they are not even capable of wearing their masks properly above their nose when they wait on you. Unfriendly service, poor explanation of the meal, and above all , the restaurant is not even capable of properly serving a dessert that they have themselves labelled «  gluten free » . I have already started eating my supposedly gluten free desert when the waitress told me that there was gluten in the icing praline !! Not a word of apology for the gravity of the mistake, please if you have serious food allergy or sensitivity, please avoid this place , as they don’t take it seriously! Their nonchalance is mind blowing. ! I was , of course charged for the desert, and not issued an honest apology. Avoid.

Wonderful seafood options, guaranteed delicious meal. Went with their tasting experience which was 3 shared courses between two of us, plus a shared dessert. All meal items were delicious, with the dessert slightly underwhelming in comparison to the rest.Its an expensive restaurant, the tasting experience being 96 dollars a head, and one might question the cost when evaluating the simplicity of whats on the table in front of them. An entire sea bass and a pound of octopus and squid probably adds up. Either way expect to spend around $70-$100 for an average a la carte order. That being said, portion sizes are good and flavours are wonderful. I left overly full and satisfied. I do recommend the tasting experience if you can fork out 96 dollars.To note: the fish plate did not come presented like that, it was an entire sea bass on a shared platter which was portioned out onto our plates by our server. Best fish Ive had all year easily. On the side was charred/grilled leeks, which were very good also.

The food was ok good..but the service was the worst Ive ever had in my entire life. It was embarassing.. She was pushing us to order a set but couldnt explain what it was and also forgot so many dishes. She said she was surprised not everybody would want the same thing (???). Some friend never actually got what they ordered an hour later. Not what you expect for a high end restaurant of this price.If they cant hire proper staff, do should not open.Fortunately, another staff, maybe the manager, helped us in the end and it was appreciated.Terrible experience, avoid at all cost.

Wonderful dinner. The tasting menu was delicious and an abundance of food. Staff were all very attentive and lovely.

We took the Montreal a la table course, the quantity is definitely not enough for two adult. Four courses with no breads or rice. Sea urchin doesnt taste fresh. Two scallops and one sea bass only. Dessert was actually the best of the night. Not worth for 75$/person. Service was slow at the beginning, took long to place the order. But it was ok after. Expected more at this price.

Had six delicious oysters but no bargain at $23. Two seared scallops fantastic but no bargain at $24. Seafood platter for $96 only had two jumbo shrimp and three scallops plus calamari and octopus. Snow crab cluster small and overcooked. No bread offered to eat with meal. Service was very friendly but expect higher quality food at those prices.

First timing dining in this restaurant, 5/5! The service was great, the food was delicious as well. However, I was more impressed with the starters, we tried 4 different ones and they were tastier than the main course (the seafood platter). Cant wait to go back and try more! The only downside was the construction outside, looking out the window, it was not the best view because of the building across it that was being renovated.

Not the first time at Ikanos, and the experience is still great. Service staff is excellent, and ambiance is very nice. Also not too uptight and nicely casual.The star here for me is the seafood platter. That plus a side and a starter is probably the best value. There is a 22oz steak to share that I havent tried yet which could be great, but I feel like having steak at Ikanos is betraying the main reason to go there. A surf n turf is probably a really good idea though!The fish is also good. $71 for Seabass can be a bit off putting, but if its indeed a fresh import, cooked in the wood oven, served full at the table deboned, I can see how you get to that price.Oyster black garlic mushrooms were good, but you can skip it. Its nice in moderation but dont need that big of a plate of it. It would be much nicer to have 2 smaller sides than a big side of that. Else, the Greek salad looked nice.Ikanos does (or did pre-covidhave very nice value for lunch though, so you could try that too.That is all! Congrats on reopening successfully!

This places is amazing! Great ambience and atmosphere. Excellent service. Our server Julian was exceptional and our dinning experience perfect. We went during Covid19 and the restaurant was very clean and very professional considering the circumstances. The seafood was so delicious. We had the seafood platter and although it is pricey, it was worth it. The seasoning and flovours of all the food was very well made. Hats off to the chef. I will definitely be coming back to have the "trust" tasting menu and encourage others to do the same. You wont regret this choice :-)

Went to Ikanos for the first time after hearing good things about the restaurant.The food is good and interesting in terms of creativity.We found it quite pricey but were ok with it since the food was good.In terms of service, the waiter was up-selling quite aggressively. Not sure if its a rule from management but we felt that we were mislead a few times during the meal.As an example, the menu shows their sorbet at 4$ so my wife and we ordered one. The plates came with 3 balls of sorbet each. On the bill, desert was 12$ each... The waiter should have given us a heads up before imposing 3 balls per plate. Not sure if well go back... just a question of principles.

Trendy restaurant, Valentines menu was disappointing. The 5 services were actually 5 tapas. I have a bird appetite and I was hungry after leaving the restaurant. Pricy and I think its a greedy restaurant focused on marketing than real interest in food. High end restaurants present tiny portions but with top notch quality and taste, Ikanos present cut in 4 portions with regular quality. Not everyone can play in high end it seems. Also, except from the name, do not expect Greek food. Disappointing overall.

Beautiful decor, great service. Presentation of each plate was appetizing. The waiter took the time to explain each course. Slightly pricey however worth the experience. Initially seemed small in terms of portions but appetite was satisfied rather rapidly. Overall ambiance was warm and welcoming and food was delicious. Definitely recommend!

The grilled seafood platter was great quality. Try their on fire (hard to pronouncecheese mezze. Really different. Thanks for our cute waitress tonight. An amazing character. Will certainly come back.

Excellent food but very long wait. Once seated, it took 25 minutes before our waitress brought us water. Afterwards, there was 45min to hours between each course. We enjoying taking our time and not feeling rushed but this was excessive.That being said the dishes were absolutely delicious and the service was attentive and polite. The Grilled seafood platter is a must and the appetizers were all succulent.

A true hidden gem in the old port! Went here for dinner with my spouse on a Friday and the service was impeccable. The atmosphere and decor is very charming and modern. The food was excellent. We had the Josper tasting menu and were impressed with every course. My boyfriend is greek and has high standards for greek cuisine. Ikanos certainly delivered! The josper oven gave every plate an unmatchable Mediterranean flavor. We will certainly be back and recommend to all.Our only feedback would be to add a bit more greek wines on the wine list!

A 4.5 points from yelpers of course get me to the last dinner meal I am in Montreal. As I got the menu, I realized half of the menu is grilled items. I got 9 fresh oysters, saumon, scallop with foie gras for the appetizer, and a grilled seafood platter for main course. The grilled seafood platter is enough for 2 people. By the way, It is almost all grilled items are enough for 2 people. The prawns, scallop, octopus are all fresh, but I personally dont like too much grilled seafood at one dinner. A bit too plain because it only has one flavour. The oysters are fresh, but the other two appetizers are nothing too special. If a person likes grilled seafood or grilled meats, I do recommend him/her to give a try, but for me, it might not be the first priority choice for me.

This is Doug’s wife, I was delighted with my company but not so impressed with the food. Starting with the bread, which I thought was dry and not unique in any way. We had a good Greek salad, and the fried zucchini. Then the seafood plater, which was grilled to burnt, dry. It looked nothing like what another customers review before this post. One cocktail and one glass of wine.... $180.00. Service was good. Disappointed.

If I could give 6 out of 5 stars I would. Pascal, our server (spelling?was fantastic - a true professional. We started with the snow crab appetizer and customized our seafood plate with grilled octopus, scallops and shrimp, finishing off with the olive oil cake. Each dish was perfect! We prefer red wine so we chose this bottle - I highly recommend Ikanos and may stop there again today! : This place is a must for your visit to Montreal!

The food was good but comes in small portions.

Delicious! The octopus and scallops were cooked to perfection, and the portions were very generous on the seafood platter. We were stuffed! Definitely one of the best dining experiences Ive had in Montreal.

I want there for my husband’s birthday. The foods and waiters are very nice. I really like the restaurant😊

The food was excellent. We had raw oysters, which were delicious. Ordered the seafood platter for two. Also delicious. The problem we had was service. The service was good when we arrived , but declined rapidly as restaurant got busier. They appeared to be short staffed. No bartender was seen. The wait staff went behind the bar to prepare drinks, which threw them off taking care of the tables. The staff was moving as fast as they could. We waited 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared after we finished dining. At that point, my husband did not want to wait for desert. I would dine here again as the food quality was wonderful and the atmosphere lovely. I just hope the service can be better. We understand staff gets sick, gets vacation, etc...I would recommend an early dining time between 1800 and 1930. By the time it was 2000, they were packed.

Best all-round dining experience Ive had in years. Spending a lot of time on the road for business makes me a finicky customer. These folks nailed the service 110%, the presentation 110% and the food was over the top and did I mention the service.My guests and I were treated magnificently even at the peak of their rush.Go there and enjoy...

Wow what an amazing restaurant! We had a delicious 7 course meal that was part of the festival in February (I cant remember the name!Staff was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the sources of the food! Restaurant gets busy an hour after opening too so get there early!! Food is SO FRESH!! Was such a treat being here!! Lots of seating and the interior is very modern and formal.

This is the place if you want to eat seafood. We took 3 mezzes (like tapasbut the portions were good even huge. After that we have octopus and shrimps. The octopuss was delicious but the shimps so so. And to conclude everything, we finish with fish and that was simply amazing. The fish is a must because it is high quality and fresh.

Phenomenal wood fired charcoal dishes, the octopus and lobster are highly recommended, this is a pricey but worthwhile culinary experience.

Hands down the best service Ive ever received in Montreal. Warm moist towelettes given between each service, every dish meticulously explain, I cant even begin to describe the taste, youll have to try it for yourselves, every bite brought me to a different place, an absolute sensory overload. They have an inexpensive lunch menu and a mesmerizing tasting menu. If I died and went to heaven, this is what the dining experience would feel like it. This restaurant deserves a Michelin star. This is where I send friends and family when the ask for a dining recommendation.

Most unusual Greek food. Very light but flavorful beyond imagination. Pricey, for sure but a real taste treat.

Post-graduation celebration with the family. The service was above and beyond what we expected. The waiter was on-point with his suggestions. The food was out of this world - best octopus ever (except for once in Greece!We were able to sit and chat for about three hours will trying to finish the last bites. Lovely dessert surprise and coffees. Well be back!

A bit pricey but you get what you pay for! The place to go for Squid 🦑 ! I’ve been 2-3 times and always perfect modern Greek food to share and an excellent service 👌 . Also of course a pretty decent selection of Greek wines 🇬🇷
