Restaurant @ Glen Carlou - Restaurant in Noorder-Paarl, South Africa
Excellent wines and food, professional service. I recommend the steak tartare and the sole.
Fantastic food and great service
Great way to enjoy both wine tasting and having lunch (if you’d like). The food is excellent and they have great recommendations for pairing their wines too. Definitely spoil yourself with some dessert! The staff are very friendly and helpful!
We stumbled upon this gem by accident. It was getting a bit late and a few restaurants in the area are closed on Tuesdays. We were just blown away. The location is beautiful with great views over the farm. The menu is small but diverse. We started with a lovely amuse bouche. Hubby opted for the lamb loin which was delectable. The jus was exactly as it should be - dense, sticky & like caramel. I chose 2 starters : the duck liver mousse & the calamari. The duck looked like a painting and the flavours were spot on- creamy mousse, sweet strawbs, acidic fig. The calamari was served with a type of pickled slaw (didnt photograph the menuwhich was different & complimented the fish. Only after these 2 local tourists left, did we realise that The Restaurant is highly acclaimed. Well deserved!
What a gorgeous find. Absolutely amazing views. Our wine expert Rey served us and was extremely efficient and knowledgeable. We had a lovely cheese board and did a wine tasting. We will definitely be back for lunch.
Lovely venue, been here several times and will keep coming back for more. They are by far the best price point for value for money fine dining. The view is incredible and the staff are always knowledgeable and friendly. Regulars are recognized and you do end up feeling special when the wait staff says "welcome back", or "happy to have you join us again". It really is the little things. And the big things of course, like quality meals and produce, delicious wine pairings, and flavours that keep your mouth salivating for more. The photos wont do it justice, but this is the ideal venue for date night, or special occasions. Do not let the affordability of their menu fool you.
THIS is Cape Winelans personified! Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful value for money and a treat to the senses! SPACE.. the tables are not squashed together and are nice a big. Best service in the Cape (and I don’t say the lightly). Food was exquisite with delicate flavours teasing the palate. We had their Pinot Noir, perfectly chilled with Sirloin for hubby and Shoulder of lamb for me. What a treat! Thank you so much!
Awesome venue. Awesome food. Awesome service. Definitely be going back very soon
Always very very good service, food & wine. Beautiful views from the restaurant

The atmosphere was awesome, service was outstanding, Muriel treated us as if we were family. Thank you to everyone. Really great experience.
We went over the long weekend for womans day and we were surprised by a liquorice pairing with our wines, a nice and unique experience that i have shared with a lot of people already. The staff os very informative, helpful and friendly.
Lovely food and wine. The Sommelier, Heindrick, was exceptionally knowledgeable and I really enjoyed the wine experience and the opportunity to talk with someone passionate about wine and not just a person reading of a script as is so often the case.
Excellent food and wine
Great atmosphere and magnificent views
It was fabulous even A Karen would have no problem having a glass of wine! Would go back anytime!
Great wine and service
Staff is not so friendly

Fantastic Sunday lunch shared with our UK family
Good service and good food for 330 rands a 3 course menu.
Stunning views, delicious food and great wines. This was my first time at Glen Carlou and certainly not my last. The menu is varied, the wine list limited to wines of estate. We enjoyed the MCC and the Quartz Stone Chardonnay which is pricey, but worth a try. Service was friendly and efficient.
Love it. Consistant great food at little price. Wonderful view and service
Thank you for a wonderful lunch and experience at Glen Carlou yesterday. It was my son’s graduation day and you made it extra special!
A lovely location with a breath-taking view, but... the visit / lunch was a huge disappointment. I have visited many different restaurants in the wine lands and decided to have the end of year staff function at Glen Carlou. What was to have been the highlight on the staffs calendar ended up a huge disappointment! One waitron for a table of 12 - the waitron had to do everything therefore POOR and VERY slow service. We had to wait for the ONE bottle of wine ordered until after all other patrons had their drinks. It is a wine farm with a tasting room!!!!??The food was tasty to good but the meals were not served according to pre-ordered information sent to the manager well in advance. One patron had to wait for her steak for a very long time - all other patrons have finished their meals by the time her food arrived. Greens and fried potatoes arrived after most patrons had finished their main courses. Coffee came in drips and drabs. Not a memorable nor a to be repeated experience.
Good food and views
Lovely service , food good , people very friendly .
Amazing place and stunning views.
Beautiful view while sampling some wine. Nice people. Dont think you can go wrong at any of these places because of the views of mountains and the surroundings but glad we did this one.
The place has good view paarl view
Great food, highly recommended the ostrich!
A super Location with a breathtaking View,but...Service was not good, food was an absolute disappointment, even after a mild complaint about the Steak, the waiter didnt react , so that was the worst in the Winelands where i visited 12 different Restaurants!!the Art Exhibition was quite interesting, with some explanations of a very nice Lady!!!
Stunning view. Great Manager. Brilliant venue. Simply the Best. A must to visit.
Love the atmosphere and food
VERY Nice
What was meant to be only a stop over ended up being an event for the day. Lots of stories each bottle of wine produced, delicious food, awesome views and an art gallery on premises. Will definitely return time and again.
