Republic Icehouse - Gastropub in Tyler, United States
Chicken Fried steak was kinda chewy, but not to bad. The sides were good. The CEO Burger, I loved it I could eat that every day. Fire Cracker Shrimp WOW
The food was mediocre at best. Service the same way.
It is a fun place with good pub food.
Great place cold beer and Krista takes the best care of us ! She’s why we come back.
The actual worst food we’ve ever had. We ordered nachos and firecracker shrimp. Both were cold and nachos were dry & bland with tough “steak” bites on it, hardly any toppings. Firecracker shrimp was STALE and cold, Tasted like it had been sitting out for days. So gross, the nastiest food we’ve ever had in a restaurant. Drinks sucked too, watery and iced down. Barely had any alcohol in the mixed drinks we ordered. There are so many better restaurants to hang out and drink at in Tyler, SKIP THIS ONE.
Great steak fingers and chicken fingers. Pizza not bad but wings are bad. Called jumbo wings and $13/lb and they look like they are from a Chinese chicken. Service is always awesome there. Great place.
Chicken fried steak was bland, Mac and cheese would have been better had they brought out some from Kraft, the stuffed tater tots were good though. Definitely felt like the whole atmosphere was that of 55 and up crowd and definitely leaning to the older side of that.
Food and atmosphere is awesome. Looks like something from New Braunfels. And the beer is nice and cold!! Highly recommend, ask for Krista she is legendary!
Food was amazing! Nice place for the family.
Chloe the bartender had fantastic customer service and was very attentive!
Refused to serve us, because we came in a group of 10. Place was dead besides the bar area so maybe they just focus on booze sales here I dunno.Edit after reply from owner* never say never bud it happened 7/25/2022 around 7:05 pm your place. Why should I have to make reservations its not the Ritz lol. Its a burger bar...
Great food, huge portions, and wonderful service! Krista was our server and done an amazing job!
I felt like they were very Standoffish Towards me I noticed that waitresses Mannerism was different towards the other customers compared to me I felt so disrespected on so many levels thats why instead of sitting there and enjoying the food I just ate it as quick as I could and got outta there ... Im a tax paying Citizen just like everyone else who visits your Establishment why they choose to act in this manner is beyond me ... So atp I want ever vist the restaurant again and have a nice day...
The server was great but the food wasnt. I got the ceo burger and it was served on the wrong bun and without the onion ring, though the server brought me one when I asked about it. My husband got chicken fingers with Mac and cheese and broccoli. We were charged 3 dollars for almost raw unseasoned broccoli and the Mac and cheese was all Mac no cheese. It tasted like plain noodles. Probably wont be back.
Way too loud to be able to enjoy. Regular bar food. Good service.
Tall iced mug beer here is outstanding-Absolute BEST parmesan chicken sandwiches anywhere- the food and service here is top notch. Hidden gem
Great drinks, food and service!!!
Food and service were great, burger was very good, but we need to come back your Shrimp and Grits.
After waiting 45 mins for our food on lunch break we couldnt even eat it what a waste of 60 bucks now i get to eat cold food awesome !
I mean it was ok, but the waitress brought out our 5 meals one by one about 7 minutes apart, so we all really couldn’t eat together. The onion rings were not existent in the batter, so basically I had batter with a tiny string of onion in them, if that.
The place was nice but cold inside so we dined on the patio. Drinks were good but my order was wrong. The waiter apologized so many times after correcting the mistake. Overall...a nice place w/ music.
Love the pet friendly atmosphere 💜 I brought my canine bestie and he loved it too. Great food, music and staff!
Great bartenders and clientele! Food was great and so were the drinks and atmosphere!
We loved that this is a pet friendly location. Enjoyed the outdoor seating. Not the restaurants fault but we first were given a table by two men that had loud cursing in at least 70% percent of their sentences. So they graciously moved us. The table beside us left and was replaced with 2 men smoking, we are nonsmokers, and the breeze was blowing toward us.My husbands meal came prepared as he had specifically asked to not have and was told it wasnt prepared that way. It went back, was redone and then came back out. My order still hadnt arrived. He enjoyed his meal, mine was not what I had been told.
Fun atmosphere! The food is GREAT & the drinks are delicious! Love the service and Krista is good at what she does, wonderful bartender! Everyone there is fun to be around.
Went to Republic Icehouse yesterday and it was great! Loved the atmosphere and the freshly prepared pizza. All the staff were friendly and energetic. Chole was the best. Definitely need to keep her around.
Great atmosphere watering hole. Heavy handed drinks and the staff are top notch!! Definitely a place to stop in and say hi and relax!!
The food was good, service was awesome. There were plenty of TVs to watch the game. The drinks were not good.
First time to Republic Icehouse! I must say that my family and I are so happy we stopped here to eat after a days Christmas Shopping! The atmosphere was relaxing, the food was fantastic and the Bartender Roy was amazing!!!! This is definitely a place we will visit frequently now!!!!!
We recently went here and they accommodated a very large on short notice-as we were celebrating our graduation from UT Tyler with several classmates and families! Though they werent quite ready for such a crowd (our fault, not theirsthe waitresses and bartenders were phenomenal and took excellent care of us! Not to mention the food was excellent. If you are going with a large crowd-i do recommend calling ahead and making reservations so they can have more staff. However given the circumstances-again our fault, not Republic Icehouse as it was a last minute decision, they staff, food, service and drinks were all excellent and very accommodating! I would definitely come here again!
I wanted to try something new. I had seen this restaurant the other day. Thought I look cool. My family and I decided to go and try it I was hesitant because sometimes new restaurants arent always good. Well I was right. This place look great but the food was terrible. We order the tater kegs and cheese dip they would have tasted good if they hadnt came out and half Frozen. The Monterey chicken had no flavor. My chicken strips were okay but they came with fries which I didnt know that cuz the menu said two sides so I said fries and macaroni the waitress charge me $2.99 for macaroni and when I had said something to her about I didnt know the macaroni didnt come with it she just said sorry didnt try to take it off the ticket or nothing I would not recommend going to the restaurant and spending your money and thats why I think its off the beaten path from the main road is because its not worth $72.00 I could go to Texas Roadhouse or Olive garden and spend less than that and have twice the better food
Our family left U.T. Cowan Center hungry and visited this resturant. Drinks ordered were good. Chicken Parmesan sandwich was recommend first then the French Dip sandwich. I ordered both so we could take something home. Sandwich meats were overcooked, or cooked earlier and reheated. Both arrived at the table cold, including the French fries and greasy onion rings. Several Pizzas were ordered also. I would not recommend them either. The Server was friendly, also training a future Server. Our order was taken quickly. Friendliness is important, but so is the quality of food.I would not recommend dining in this restaurant.
Had a class get together on 10/9/21, with a pretty big turnout. The wait staff and bartenders did a great job of keeping up and getting our orders out on time. Hats off to them for their hard work
We went here to eat with a fairly large group (about 25but we all had our own tables broken to about 4 or 5 people. They had one server work this section which was not very fair to her as it was obvious she could not keep up with it all and get everything done timely. But that is not her fault, she just needed help. The food was scattered and took a long time to get pieces out and the quality was just not there. Even in our order, my husband and I got fries as sides, mine were dark brown and burnt but very cold while his were normal and very hot (still had oil on them). Ive never seen a restaurant take a chicken finger and cut it in half and bread it and fry it as a chicken finger but they were tiny. And finally, the worst part and what is extremely unacceptable in my mind is that each ticket had a credit card service charge of $1.65 on it. Now. I dont mind gratuity on a ticket. And I dont mind paying a charge when I make a small order that doesnt cover a small businesses credit card fee. HOWEVER. neither of these were the case. We were told it is a charge for anyone who doesnt pay cash. Now they do not tell you this upfront and it is not posted anywhere in the restaurant, I checked before I went outside, and I double checked the menu and website before leaving. I have NEVER seen this type of fee put on any order I have ever had over $5 and certainly never at a restaurant. And had we known there was a credit card fee we would have brought cash. Large restaurants that do a fair amount of credit card business should not need to charge a service fee on every ticket they send out, and I have never seen it done before, but if you absolutely have to the customer should at least be informed about any additional fees or stipulations BEFORE you hand them the bill, or at least post by the door that there is an extra charge if you do not pay cash.Overall I was very disappointed in the food quality and general service, but again that was not the servers fault alone, she just needed help. But I will not go back to a restaurant that charges fees without making their patrons aware of them beforehand.
The beer menu is too much information and a bit confusing it moves around too much. The crabby bartender only compounded the confusion with her short curt attitude. We were day drinking so she was not too busy, just rude when we asked her questions about the products she is selling. If your looking for a place to grab a craft beer and a bit to eat skip this one. The headache you receive from ordering one beer will not be healed after you drink that one beer.
WOW! Ordered to go baked potato and I must say it was on point! So light and fluffy and the bartender taking care of my order was so kind and gave me her time even with a FULL bar! I will be a repeat custom and I NEVER leave positive reviews.
I just picked up a to go order and the baked potato was not fresh, not fluffy, gray in color and hard. When I called back to speak with either the Kitchen Manager or General Manager for a brief conversation about my recent take-out order (less than 15 minutesI was told they were busy. Potatoes are very inexpensive in the restaurant business so make sure they’re fresh. Customers are your “business” make time for them. Will not be a repeat customer and I hope the word gets out about their lack of concern for customer feedback. BTW, I have NEVER left a negative comment for any business “trying” to serve the public.
Food was very good. Service not so much. Went on a Saturday at 1pm. A few people at the bar. We were the only table. Drinks were empty and food took 40 min to come out after order.
Great place for cold draft beer, cocktails, and a wide variety of food options. A favorite among locals for good reason. Great service and great environment. Some quality bartenders. Wide variety on their menu, and willing to make anything you can describe at the bar. Somewhere I make a point to visit weekly.
Great atmosphere. Good drink selection. Amazing food. The sandwich was larger than my face. We will definitely be back.
Very Disappointed! It was my first time, it was a bad experience(Food wise). Our server was a great! She took care of us 100% but the food was very tasteless and some of the wings were still cold. We didn’t mind waiting on the pasta because they didn’t have any made but the taste of it still needed attention. Extremely Regret spending my money here!
We love Republic Ice House. Our favorite is the French dip sandwich with au jus. I had the smothered steak today and it was perfect also. Warm friendly staff. Crystal was a great host today. Good selection of beverages. Nice atmosphere. Cant wait to go back.
I came here once for a beer with a friend and all draft was out of stock and I was given the choice of several canned beers.I came a second time for a family dinner and the food was great. Take that for what you will. The staff has always been very nice though.
My husband, son, and I came in for dinner order and our teas and lemonade and our food. When we arrived, there was almost nobody there. It took about 40 mins to get our food and the entire time we were there our drinks where never refilled. I ordered a medium rare steak with the squash and garlic potatoes. The squash was great but the potatoes were ice cold as was the steak. Thinking it was just from sitting too long I went ahead and tried to eat it. I could barely even put a knife through it. It only took a couple of bites to realize that it wasn’t cold from sitting too long after cooking, it was ice cold because it had not even been fully cooked and was completely raw beyond the browned outside. After finally getting our servers attention and telling about my food, he showed absolutely zero concern about the situation. We didn’t have time to have it remade and I wasn’t asking for a refund or discount so his lack of concern was very off putting. When we asked for our check he noticed that I had not eaten the steak and said he would discount it from the bill, again I did not ask, he offered. This turned out to be of a slap in the face when we got our receipt and saw what he had actually done. He marked a 20% discount but applied it to a $0 amount, which came out to be a $0 discounted. He then added a variable discount that came out to just over $3, basically the tax for the entire check. My plate was $17 and 2/3 of the items on it were ice cold and the steak was not eatable. I would have been less agitated had he not even offered the discount but instead, he chose to insult us even more with a laughable discount. I watched the servers throughout our time there and they were completely unorganized. They were handing out plates to the wrong tables over and over again and even taking plates that had already been touched by one customer and giving it to the costumer who should have gotten it. At one point, I was offered a drink that belonged to another table. They had no idea whose food was whose when it was coming out. Again, I don’t want a refund or any kind of comp. I just want to let you know that your establishment has some serious issues, the biggest of which is serving raw meat to customers, followed secondly by very poor customer service. I won’t be returning but I hope you address these issues so that future guest don’t get what we got.
Atmosphere is clean and updated. Layout for seating feels crowded as you walk in and at the bar (it stood out that it doesnt flow well). There was a hostess stand but we had to go to the bar to get someone to find her to get us a table. Staff wasnt rude but didnt go out of their way to welcome us or to be polite. There was a band that night and they were great. Good venue to watch a band, not much area if you wanted to dance. Beer options were very minimal for all the good choices out there these days (exclusivly light lagers, with one local IPAaccording to our wait staff (the hostess). We shared the chips and dip appetizer. The chips were fresh and crispy and the dips were very tasty. Happy with the food we had. So, Im not completely sold on this being a regular option for a night out but worth us trying again for a 2nd opinion.
Very excellent food and very excellent service. They have a variety of menu items to choose from.
Every time my husband and I go here, the service is slow and the waitress NEVER knows what craft beer they have on tap. We usually go at a time thats slow, with no more than 3 or 4 other occupied tables. And I dont know WHY they dont have a printed beer menu to leave at the tables. The food is mediocre. The best thing about this place is the building itself; I love the way its set up and decorated. I also like the outdoor area because you can actually smoke out there, unlike at most restaurants.
Im not sure exactly why everyone complains about this place! Im from the area and the kitchen manager is a friend of mine and we went to High School together. This is an amazing concept next to UT Tyler and it is the only bar in this area going towards North East Tyler. The drinks are a little high and the food can be a little better but it takes people to come here to make it special and the atmosphere. It is open air and there is a lot of activities on a weekly basis. There are pool tables and there is outdoor seating. You can watch sports here and you can congregate with your friends after work. Support your local business!
We used this love coming here! Haven’t had a good waiter in at least 6-9 months. Bartenders completely ignore you. Last 3 visits my drink was empty for more than 40 minutes...and I was sitting at the bar!!!! Last time i had to nearly jump over the counter for a menu after i sat here for almost an hour. Stared at the bartender for about 20 minutes and still couldn’t get her attention. I really hope this review wakes up the manager here...but then again...he seemed lazy and disappeared into the kitchen for a very long time. He obviously had no managerial skills to keep the staff motivated to work. When he finally came out all he did was good around with the staff. Dirty bar...do I even go there? Lazy bartender...took her almost TWO HOURS to clean up a couples dishes at the bar. It’s not that busy here so there’s absolutely no excuse. Please PLEASE try to get it together! We miss having good service!!!!!!
Id been wanting to try this place for a while.... first impressions, nice layout, good set up of screens and interesting mix of people which was good. Not so good was the sticky floor and tired looking chairs with worn corners and frankly dirty looking tables. We were shown to a booth which was clean and soon a random woman came across from a group of friends at the bar to ask us a question. It turns she was our waitress and she was pleasant enough but nothing on her to indicate she worked there, no uniform, name tag, pad... well OKMy wife asked for the Rib Eye steak, the first item on that section of the menu to be told that they dont serve steaks anymore as they just werent that popular. Rib Eye steak... not popular...in Texas? would have been nice to change the menu?I ordered a frozen margarita to be told that the machine had broken just that day.... really? We both ordered chicken which was very average. The waitress asked us how our food was and were told her it just wasnt that good and she shrugged and said Im sorry... so being charitable Im guessing she hadnt been trained in effective customer relations and it wasnt that she just didnt care. The venue was nice to look at and the food bland not awful so only 2 stars. We wont be going back
