There are so much museums in bbsr that even the ones staying here arent aware about..RMNH is one such museum with a variety of specimens (some preserved, some models and some collecteddepicting the history of the wide range of biodiversity...not only this, but also the greenery surrounding the museum, the park maintenance, the entrance, the middle garden with vineyards giving an aesthetic and cottagecore vibes , And last but not the least, free entry without any ticket is what makes this museum worth visiting... Everyone should give this place a try...
It is well organized and maintained..Only disappointments are no attractive initiatives for children. some more interesting features and activities should have been included to attract and engage children.
Very nice place, free entry añd well maintained. Do visit for a good experience.
Regional museum of nature is very nice place for school kids to visit and understand different bio diversities, animals, food chain, evolution. No entry fee.
I got a golden opportunity to visit the famous historic regional Museum in Bhubaneswar. The museum building is robust and majestic. The museum has various departments that have collectibles and artifacts on different subjects and historical periods on display.
Its so informative for children...
Most to go this place. Its looks naturally.
Very nice place to visit along with your kids.
This i think is one of the best museum Ive ever visited in India for multiple reasons.1. The entry is free but the place is very well maintained.2. Very clear and crisp depictions of natural history right from himan evolution to animal life to fish life to different types of rocks etc.3. The story of Shankar the elephant in the centre of the place is appealing and very thought provoking. The cons of this place is there is no parking inside. Youll have to park on the roadside or in some neighbouring plaza and walk here.Recommend you to come here and also go to the planetarium next door. We came here at 2:00 and directly went to the 4pm planetarium show. So a good educational timepass for the kids and adults as well.
Nice place to visit with family and friends.
Regional Museum of Natural History at Bhubaneswar was set up in 2004. It is the only museum of its kind in the Eastern region of the country. The museum, under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India, New Delhi. There are various galleries showcase the vibrant biodiversity of Odisha, the North-East, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, African forests and even Madagascar. The highlight of the museum is undoubtedly the huge skeleton of Baleen Whale which is the biggest in the country. Apart from the skeleton of Baleen Whale there are the skeleton of the Toothed Whale, Elephant and Rhinoceros, skulls of various species of whales, rhinos, elephants, tigers and various other animals which attract the visitors. The rare fossil of the ‘egg’ of now extinct Elephant bird is one of its kind exhibit in the country that one can find in the museum. The skeletons of reptiles and smaller mammals are of particular interest for the students interested in the life sciences. There is also a children’s gallery equipped with interactive displays, which are popular amongst the children. The auditorium and the interaction centres are used for various activities and attracts a host of people.
Its a nice place. There are different types of specimens of animals, birds, rocks and minerals etc. Although its built over a small area still I found it good. Its open on Sundays also. There is some issues with parking. Its located in a very nice place but there is no parking place available. Vehicles are parked on the road. There is no entry fees also. This place is a must visit for kids. They are certainly going to love this place. There are some real big skeletons kept in here which I found attractive. This time I dont have any photographs but certainly I will share some next time I visit there.
Very good place and absolutely free of cost.if you are going to pathani samanta planetorium then must go to this place .

A wonderful place to learn about Nature and wildlife with a repertoire of knowledge and varied spectrum of information.... A good collection of skeletal exhibits and the only place where you can see the largest egg of Elephant bird in the country. So next weekend do plan a visit and spend some time with the lives of the dead who have a lot of stories to tell from the wild.
Very quite and chill place. Good place to visit with your family or friends when nearby. And best of all its FREE.
Really well kept and knowledgeable place.A must visit in Bhubaneswar 😍
Highly recommended place to visit. If you are planning a day out with your friends for watching any movie etc then this place got to be in your list. Very calm environment inside equipped with central AC. Arrangements inside the museum are also good you will get to know about many things.
Great clean place for spending a weekend with your children. The place is clean and well maintained. The only problem is parking, that you have to park on main road.
Although the building and campus is well maintained and is worthy of spending a few hours for strolling around, the artifacts inside were disappointing. The place seemed poorly lit, and dusty like any government establishment. This place would have amused me as a kid in 1990. But we are in 2022 and the kids today are more informed, and need more to be engaged and amused. There were a few formalin preserved reptiles and usual birds, and skeletons. I expected way more from a natural history museum of Odisha which was supposed to display the rich geological history, rocks, fossils, and the anthropological specimen from the region.(Cmon the first landmass to come out of the sea in Precambrian earth was discovered to be in Singhbaum, Jharkhand...320 or 350 crore years back... and what are we telling the kids here in a regional museum with few random taxidermied butterfly and dolphin skeletons ?)Surprisingly the Kolkata museum is flooded with these rock, mineral specimen, fossils, bones and skeletons of prehistoric animals collected from the provinces across Eastern India since 1700s by the British, and it seemed they had less space to put up many more that they have kept in the celler.I wished to see a fraction of these here in Bhubaneshwar. This is a costly piece of land being wasted with a single floor museum with a somewhat 3-4000 square feet of display area poorly lit, explained and equipped. Natural history museums can be made so attractive that it could replace classrooms in these subjects, engaging the kids. I guess the government can do way better with this museum for the coming generations.
Awesome place for hangout. Its a great place for students and childrens. Its close to Pathani samanta Planetarium, So you can visit 2 places. There is no need of ticket also , its free.

The Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhubaneswar is a museum in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India with exhibits on plants, animals and geology of the eastern region of India. It is a must visit for children...many things to learn. Elephant and whale skeletons are worth seeing. for parking purposes, there is not much space, but u can park on road... photography is allowed...takes just 2 hours maximum if looked thoroughly.. Maximum specimen are exhibits, dont expect live animals since it is a museum not a zoo. Transportation facilities are also available since it is located just besides the highway of Bhubaneswar.Thank you.
One of the best place in bhubaneswar to spend a day with kids n family... This place is situated just next to pathani samanta planetarium near Acharya vihar.. Entry is absolutely free. The museum exhibits plants, animals and geology of the Odisha, the Eastern and north-eastern India. Skeletons of whale, elephant, and other animals have installed in the museum, which is supposed to be a great attraction for kids and tourists.. The atmosphere is quite silent. Neat n clean environment..
A very very very wonderful place...in the locality of Acharya vihar. At first the entry is free of cost. And in the gallery u will she all kind of ancient animal monuments. Intact and complete skeletons of whales, elephants, specimens if fishes, Cartesians, Birds and a lot of others. The entry is free. Its next to the planetarium.Parking available for 2 wheelers, roadside parking for wheelers.NO ENTRY FEE AND PARKING FEE.
A wonderful place for kids & adults to see real preserved skeletons & skin stuffed animal model collections of different animal and aquatic species. Entry is free, with well maintained clean-air-conditioned facility with drinking water and toilet facilities available. Sometimes when large crowd gathers then video-audio shows are also played inside the auditorium.A good initiative taken by Odisha govt for people to get more knowledge and information about our forest ecosystem and fossils.
Situated near planetarium. You can see the skeleton of many aquatic animals and fishes, also the best attraction here is the skeleton of a big whale, around 20-30 feet long, also there are skeleton of a big elephant and rhino. And the best thing is that u dont have to spend a single penny from ur pocket to see all this, because ticket is free.
Very nice place. Lots of information about wild life of Easter India and their ecosystem. Realistic model, stuffed animal and skeleton (including skeleton of complete whales). If you love ecosystem and species diversity, a must see place and its completely free.
A amazing place where you can enjoy the remainings of dead animals.Their original body(captured carefully with chemicals). The original skeletal structure of the animals. You can find the dead body of animals captured (elephant, deer, whale, shark, snakes, butterfly, birds, eggs, Tiger, wild bull and more.To explore more. Just visit this place. If you find the place as per my description.,Like and share my description about the place to your friends.
Good collection of plants, animals, geology, ecosystem, endangered species, flora, fauna, artwork, paintings etc. It is a great place to visit. But this museum is outdated. Audio visual platform should be there. All the things are well maintained in a single roof.
