285 Beach Rd, Singapore 199550, Pontian Kechil
Set on a tree-lined commercial road, this bright, informal hostel is a 7-minute walk from Bugis metro station, a 9-minute walk from Chinatown and 2 km from Marina Bay.Featuring colourful wall art, the simple rooms and dorms come with free Wi-Fi and lockers, as well as shared bathrooms. An all-female dorm is available. The hostel offers free breakfast and a shared lounge with a flat-screen TV, a DVD player and a Nintendo Wii. There's also a kitchenette with a microwave.
Amazing place to stay I like everything except u have to take off ur outdoor shoes when u enter they have the best price for the service they offer different options for breakfast, clean rooms n everything close to Arab street walking distance to lots of entertainment bars with live performance basically it the best.
I would say it’s one of the most NOT valued hostels in Sg. Breakfast has no coffee. Floor inside room and corridor is dirty ! Facilities in toilet and shower not maintaining at all! Check-in time is 3PM...what an efficient hostel?! Laundry 5sgd dryer 5sgd...drop your bag in hostel have to pay for as well! No hostel atmosphere! Just care about money but not care about ur quality ?! Definitely not recommend!!!
Place looks very run down and unclean. Stuffy and smells funky when you step into the dorm. Aircond water dripped inside room. Main corridor wet floor some more.Dont be deceived by the photo in the advertising. Fake advertising photo. Looks very different once you check in.Kindly avoid this place at all cost and spend your money to other better hostels nearby and more comfortable.
Place is good. Its a HOSTEL. If you book this place, NEVER trust an image that they provide king size bed. They provide 2 bunk beds for twin room. Prepare 20 sgd for each book that you made for deposit. Even they will give you back, but you also need money to enjoy singapore. Make sure you read the shoes/flip flop rules. It stated that you have to not wear them inside
You have to take stairs to the elevator which is kind of counterintuitive. Service is pretty good, usually run by teens so sometimes a bit misinformed but they try to be friendly. The dorm rooms were cramped and the top bed frame was loose so getting up was a bit of a hassle. The bathrooms were significantly more cramped. With all the cramped atmosphere sometimes itd smell funky around but overall cleanliness was good. Breakfast is very simple bread or cereal basically. Location was great as you can walk around a lot of places.
One of the best hostels Ive ever been to in Singapore. The bed is clean. Bathroom was okay. Staffs are helpful. I really like the kitchen/common room. Very comfy and cozy. Definitely gonna go back.
Price is a bit off when comparing between agoda and at the counter. difference as much as double. The bed was ok. but the corridor is dangerous with water droplet from ceiling along the way. The room we got was facing main road, thus very noisy.
This used to be the Five stones hostel with excellent location - near Nicoll Highway MRT Station (Orange Lineand Bugis MRT station (Green Lineand Golden Mile Tower StarMart Singapore-Malaysia Bus station on Beach Rd and Causeway Link station (on Victoria St). This hostel is also near tourist attractions such as Bugis Junction, Haji Lane and Sultan Mosque. The cleanliness is alright and the staff is nice. The facilities is fine. The room rate is reasonable. In short, you can get your money worth.
The plus side : the hostel is close to city center especially to Bugis area and there are bus stops around this place and MRT station. You can find halal food as moslems, and on the other side, close to Bali lane if you enjoy some beer and alcohol stuffs. The minus side : the wifi only works enough in public area not in our room.
It was an okay stay for us, if you are traveling all-female, I suggest asking for a bed on their female floor - just more convenient (and cleaner 😅). To be fair, they had some water dripping issues on the 3rd floor where we were at.Also, has since been bought over by Red Doorz.
My favourite hostel so far: strategic place, near to Masjid Sultan its easy for you to perform salat. Clean bed, but they have certain level for bathroom. So I must go down one level to use the female bathroom. Breakfast is perfect for a hostel: milk, bread, cereals, coffee, tea and 24 hours gallonnof water. WiFi sometimes off at the bedroom. Go to lobby for the best wofit connection!
The rooms at this hotel is spacious if you are alone. It is accessible if you wish to go to the city center and various shopping stores. I suggest that they management should always check the cleanliness of the hostel. I stayed here for three days and two nights and there was no room service at all.
Stayed here a long time ago back in late 2017; met a lot of people and made a couple of friends, so it was alright. Unfortunately, stay here was ruined when someone accused me and my mother of stealing her money. And although that was quickly found out to be false by both the authorities and the people working there, we didnt feel comfortable being there anymore, so we left about a week or so before we were supposed to check out. Conclusion: be aware of your surroundings, look out for your stuff and lock them up, be MORE aware of the people you meet, and if you ever find someone in your dorm to be suspicious, NEVER be in the same room with them by yourself.
Quite good hostel but nothing special, private room is not cheap for what it offers, shared services are not so clean and in great status. Even breakfast had been a little delusion.By the way, staff is really kind, but you can find better place to stay, on a budget.
+ The bed is comfy, the toilet is clean (but the hairdryer is broken at 2nd floor), really close to the halte which is really good for me who prefer taking bus instead of mrt, close to food stall as well.- It will be better if they provide curtain in every bed, so everyone has their privacy and not disturbed by the lamp.Everything is just right to me :it was unfortunate to me when 2-3 people in my room (female 8 bedssnore so load! It really annoying because I couldnt sleep because of them. Well, the minus thing of sharing a room with stranger (not hostel fault though)Was there for 4d3n
The place is good for people who are looking for a place to stay the night and shower, which is ideal to me. The location isnt too far off, and the price I paid wasnt too expensive. It was clean enough and the lady at the front desk was really helpful and friendly. The only downside that I can think of is the shower stall was a bit stinky? It wasnt dirty or anything but there was definitely this weird smell to it. Other than that, the hairdryer doesnt work after certain hours, to not disturb the other customers I assume so better take note of that. Overall its a great place to stay at.
I stayed at this hostel with a group of 28 and we were divided over several rooms of 6 to 8 people. The hostel was nice and the breakfast was okay with toast and butter, jam, peanut butter and Nutella and also milk with cereals. Personally I would have liked some cheese or ham with it, but it sufficed. On the plus side, there was free instant coffee and thee. The biggest downside of this hostel was the showers and toilets, because they were most of the time very dirty and always wet. There was one shower door that didnt lock and I spotted multiple ants in the showers. However this hostel was close (10 min walkto a metro station and therefore close to the center of Singapore. I am not sure if I would stay at this hostel again.
We booked our room for 4 days 3 nights and our stay here has been great! Very nice and accomodating staffs. Maybe the only problem is we are in 4th floor and the shared bathroom for male is in 3rd and 5th floor, but it is ok. Clean place and the free breakfast is lit 👌
They provide all facilities for free:1. Bed, blanket, pillow2. Washing machine and dryer (9am - 9pm)They should allow for 24h since they have so many guests.3. Hair dryer4. Body soap and shampooThey provide breakfast very well.Bread, cereal and milk.Free flow tea, coffee and water (24h).Cable TV use NetflixReceptionist 24hSay goodbye to staircase, we can use well maintained lift in this hostel.Near Masjid Sultan (Mosque).Deposit: $20 for access cardNo curtain or towels
Great experience staying there. The 8 person room was a little bit noisy but it is clean. The toilets are a little bit dirty. 4 stars for cleanliness and 5 stars for services.
Large room for private room for us as couple.. nice room, but the bathroom shared not clean at night smells not good, staff very humble. Very noisy. I had bad exprience in here because i always awakned in midnight when someone open the doors. And people talking too much at 1 pm.. very near at bus stop
It is a backpacker hostel, located on Beach Road, next to Mesjid Sultan. A very good location, the bus stop is right in front of the hostel and it just 10 minutes walk from Bugis MRT station. There are a lot of hallal restaurant around since it is an Arabic area. The room is quite comfortable, good service from the staffs and breakfast is included. A very reccomended property.
Location is best since its close to many restaurants, with halal option. Its also near bus stop and not very far from MRT station. I stayed at four people female dorm, and it comes with locker too. Two electrical socket and one lamp for each bed. Theres breakfast though its not free, except for coffee and tea. The staffs are friendly. The downside, only two shower rooms in my floor. I imagine one needs to wait if the floor is full.
Great, friendly and helpful staff that speak fluent English. Complimentary breakfast of cerial or toast served til 11am daily. Clean and tidy rooms and bathrooms. New matresses and beading. Has free laundry facilities and lockers for every bed in dorms. I stayed in all girls dorm room of 8 ppl. Everyone was tidy and respectful in my room. There is only 2 showers on my floor so u had to wait sometimes but nobody semed to b in the showers more than 5 minutes or so, so not long wait time. I think everyone there is very respectful of one another and their belongings. Eg. A lost and found is kept in the bathroom for items u may have left in the shower etc. There is also magnetic locks on room and to building. Singapore in general is very safe but the magnetic key is extra comfort to ur safety and belongings.Location wise it is close to resturants, train line, and not far from attractions. 15min walk to esplanade. Only downside, somebody set off the alarms a few times at night by accident. Probably one of the best hostels i have stayed at in my many years of travelling solo. I recommend this hostel :)
Very clean, good location, good AC and free laundry. There aren’t shared bathrooms so you may be on a floor without a female/male bathroom, can be a little annoying. Reception staff were nice!
I got my booking thru agoda. It was a dorm type bed for 622php per night and when we arrived.. fivestones ask for another 20sgd for security deposit which will be return once you check out. I stayed in a mixed type dormitory. This is the cheapest price. It is safe for solo female traveller. The blanket is clean, the pillows are soft, no smell. I was just lucky that my room mates are clean so our room does not have a bad smell in my entire stay. My only concern was the bathroom.. I stayed at the 3rd floor, the female restrooms can be found on 2&4 floor so I have to go down to use it. Pantry is okay. Free coffee and tea, they have big screen tv that has netflix.. they have utensils, plate and refrigerator to store your food. Staff are friendly and speaks english. Overall, I had a great stay here.
Awful. This hostel is awful. I’ve stayed in a few in Asia and honestly this is bad. There isn’t enough toilets or showers. It’s not clean - lots of hair in the grate girls - and if you want any peace then don’t boom the private room. We booked the one without a window (hello prison cell and yep it looks like oneand it’s right next to the washer and driers. These are meant to stop at 9pm. I went down to the reception at 11pm to say that these were still on and we could hear them through the wall. I was told if they were on at 9, the cycle lasts 2 hours. I explained they had just started 2 new cycles. Basically nothing they could do. So yeah don’t stay here - total hole and unhelpful staff and inconsiderate guests.
The nightime female staff member is very selective about who she is polite to. I sense Racism about her towards white people. The rates are a bit high considering they are shared rooms when you factor in the costs of neighbouring Countries hostels. This is whether you book online or at the desk because even online you get hit with a 28% service charge. The front door would not work properly and despite it being brought to managements attention several times there did not seem to be much interest in really resolving the problem rather in letting it fester i to becomig a big repair bill down the road when the glass door accidentally gets smashed in by a visitinv Hostel guest. They have been out of Creamer for days.I dont think the General manager is really on top of things.Overall I did not feel very welcomed there nor did I feel like I was getting good value. This name is my nom de plume for the record.
Clean, choice of mixed or separate dorms, free tea, coffee and water. Also self service laundry and a nice location near the buigy metro station. Around a 7min. walk. Netflix available and wifi. However wifi is very unstable and you have to pay a deposit AND 3$ for a towel. Beds are okay and there is AC in the room with big lockers. It also has an elevator and a "rooftop lounge" which isnt that exciting. However the common room in the lobby is nice.
The overall experience of the stay was oke. Although we do have some suggestions. The showerheads in the toilets are really annoying because the whole toilet was wet all the time. We suggest making one toilet with showerheads and one without so all your guests are satisfied. The breakfast could be more extensive with orange juice and different kind of toppings for your bread like cheese for example. Its great that there are rules that you have to be quiet after 10 pm. But nearly every night there was noise in the hallway untill 2 am. Overall the stay was oke for the money we paid. But these things listed above would be a huge improvement.
Its a very clean hostel compared to many others within the same price range. They provide thick beds, and a hugging pillow for extra comfort. Common area is well maintained, breakfast includes choices of white or wheat meal breads, basic spreads of decent quality, sachets of instant coffee, green tea, milo. Banana, cereals, milk. DIY Laundry on the top floor is a bit of a hassle. Elevator available. On the night I went, I got quite a few bed mite bites on both my feet. I hope they are dealt with already.
ProClean bunks with big locker spaces and space on the floor to go through your bags. The kitchen and living space was very clean and comfy.Breakfast is good, cereal, toast and spreadsDrinks provided too.Close walk to bugis, lots of shops and foodNext to Arab food streetsClose to bus stops and stationsConThe bathroom could be cleanerIf you’re a female on a mixed floor you have to go to a female only floor to use the bathroom which is a bit annoyingOverall a great stay and would stay again
I don’t usually stay in a hostel but this one definitely below any standard ... the shared shower rooms for men are absolutely stink! Feel so sorry for the guests who stay on the floor ... I almost puke while showering ... full of insects/bugs in toilets too ... they ran out of towels to rent so we needed to share towels among our friends! How not reli pleasant
Fantastic time spent in a budget place like a home. All clean and in order for a big hostel like this one. For around 20$ a day your night retired early on a soft Dreamland divan. In addition to all the surprised you didnt see it coming, just wait for morning to come and youll see the variety of selection for breakfast to from.. what a chaperone experienced rarely get from a hostel.
The great place for staying when you come to Singapore. In Five Stones Hostel, you not only have the good room, but you also get a lot of awesome facilities such as free high speed Wifi, free breakfast, free laundry facilities, all day air conditioning, complimentary beverages all day, and so much more. The hostel also have a lot of Travel Guide Books that will help you to find some interesting places to go, or you can ask the staffs in here. For me, the staffs are really friendly and they will help you with whole-hearted.
Staff very nice and helpful! and this is the bright spot. But- there were bugs and flees in 3rd floor men bathroom, bathrooms are on alternative floor (no fun at 2 AM to go up or down for a simple thingand though one should not use shoes in hallways, these always are often dirty and sticky….
This hostel located in strategic area, you may ride a bus (no. 100and stop directly in front of this hostel. Service from staffs are great, they are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is proper within price you pay for room. You get 3 kinds of cereals, bread with Nutella, marmelade jam, strawberry jam, and peanut jam, also comes with fresh milk, tea, cofee, and milo. Breakfast start from 7.30 to 10.30 a.m.For tea, coffee, and eater, its free all the time.Public facilities: in lobby rhey provide TV with netflix, and some DVDs. Also theres a book shelf, full of books. Sofa is cozy. There are 2 computers with internet. You ca also buy soft drinks and cup noodle, as well as ice cream, in the lobby. Prepare your own towel, otherwise you need to pay 5 SGD to RENT towels. In the 5th floor theres 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Also theres a rooftop. You can wash for free, from 8 am to 7 pm. Bedroom is cozy and clean. They also provide lift, its a good news for tourists who travel with luggage. You cannot put your big luggage to your locker in the room, but you can put it below your bed. Small luggage (cabin sizecan fit inside locker. My biggest problem is the restrooms. Within 3 nights of my stay, toilet are always dirty (female section, both in 2 and 4th floor). 4th floor is the worst, always smell like a pee, all showers cannot be hung, and hairdryer is broken as well. In 2nd floor there are many garbages. Theres no difference if you come to restroom during morning or evening or night its always dirty and smell very bad. Looks like they never clean the toilet. Also, in front of evedy floor, you need to put off your shoes, but the draw is small. So many people just open it and leave it outside. That makes it smells sock. They need to improve this part.
Overall a really food place to stay! Breakfast better than average, clean rooms and kind staff. The only thing is that the bathrooms are stuffy and not too clean, not terrible...not great. But overall a very nice hostel
Good location, staff was very helpful, comfortable beds and relatively good price! Only minus was the mixed dorms didnt have mixed bathrooms on that floor, so we needed to go to a different floor for the bathroom. Slightly unhandy. But otherwise we were very happy!
Place is kept fairly clean. Wi-Fi is present throughout and stable and fast. Breakfast is all you can eat cereal and toast. Air-conditioning in the lobby tends to get cold, but its controllable in the rooms. Lots of places to sit down and do some work if you need that.
Its a nice place to stay in Singapore, especially for Muslim travelers. You can find a mosque behind and a lot of halal food nearby. I also experienced taking a walk to Merlion Park and Chinatown. It has warm services and allows you to interact with world travelers. Will return again for sure. 😉
Really good atmosphere at this hostel, very friendly staff, and one of the best locations in Singapore. Not downtown Singapore, but very close to a major train station and nestled in a beautiful neighbourhood. Only thing is the bathroom situation is a little messy, and there are no private rooms with windows! Otherwise a really good hostel to stay at during your stay in Singapore.
Solid value. The room was pretty classic hostel dorm style but I had no complaints. Everything was clean and usable, no bed bugs or mosquitoes. The wifi was okay as well. The location was close enough to some interesting shopping areas. I think the best part of this hostel is that the public lounge area is pretty comfy and clean.
Good place, nice service and lovely staff I enjoyed the stay here. Washing machine is free and good breakfast. And also it is in central close to many places. The bus stop is right after door. Recommended!
Obviously Singapore is pricey, but you really get a good deal for what you pay for here.Free breakfast for all guests, air-conditioning, security, locker, helpful staff.Honestly felt almost like flashpacking.Great food nearby, bus stop right outside, metro only 2 blocks away.
Five stones hostel is a great place for backpacking. Check-in is at 3pm but they will let you stay inside their area until its time. Free breakfast offers a great selection of jams and other basic breakfast meals. Theres also unlimited coffee, milo and water. Great staff! Would definitely recommend to everyone.
One of the very best hostel in Singapore. Very clean, affordable, near to many interesting places and facilities. Receptions staff very polite and well verse. Free wifi, coffee and tea 24hrs.
A very good hostel, clean and well equipped. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, and equipped with a Wii console! Free laundry, with possibility to buy washing powder, power plugs adapters, and their signature game :-)
I arrived at 3 AM on Friday night and was surprised to be greeted with a friendly face at desk who was extremely helpful. I liked the lights off policy and culture of being considerate and I had no issues with noise or light in the room. I also thought the beds, bathrooms, and floors were immaculately kept, partially because of the no shoes policy. I do wish the other guests at the hostel were more sociable, as the living room was quiet each time I visited. It was also fairly well located, right next to the cafes and bars of Arab St. and near the Bugis MRT station. The area is much less lively than Clarke Quay or Downtown at night though.
A decent and clean place to stay. Affordable price! The staffs are very accommodating, friendly and helpful! The relax area has all sorts of movies and TV shows to watch (even F.R.I.E.N.D.S - all ten seasons! The hostel is also next to a 7 eleven!
