The food was good service was good atmosphere was nice as well I will definitely come back if Im in the area. My bill came out to about $200.00.

Excellent meal, great service, very comfortable. The only thing that I didnt enjoy was the music. We were directly under a speaker and it was loud.

Always warm and cozy, the drinks were delicious as was the food!

Top 3 restaurant in Catskills. Upscale contemporary American cuisine, executed near perfectly with a great bar and cozy atmosphere. Been coming for years and always get the sardines.Edit: taking this down to 4 stars after what was terrible service and poor drinks on 10/21. Food still delicious though

This place is fantastic! Food was awesome (both flavor and presentation), service was perhaps the best Ive ever seen, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Went during peak fall colors, so the rife up made it even better. It was not cheap, but wasnt outrageous. Great place to bring guests. Ill definitely be going back!

Always a favorite place to have a fabulous meal when I’m home for a visit!The swordfish was delicious and my cousin enjoyed his NY strip steak as well.It’s such a cozy atmosphere especially with the crisp fall air upon us.Another bonus is recognizing familiar faces from when I used to live here.Excellent service made for a memorable evening that I shared with my cousins.

Had an excellent time here at the red onion, service was friendly and attentive, i had the filet mignon and a pork appetizer both of which were delicious and my friend had the scallops which they found to be a tiny bit too salty but j thoroughly enjoyedAll in all a great experience, i will have to return at some point and save room for dessert!

9/10 We will be back! Everything we ordered was great! The service was on point as well. We did the pork belly and shishito steak apps- both were amazing. The ravioli with truffle and arugula was delicious! If there was one thing we had to not order it would be the burger, but it’s only because the other stuff was better!! It’s a burger, the other options are the route.

Great food Wonderfully polite female staff members, One incredibly rude male staff member in late 20s, literally pushes your elbow clear off the table with the plate of food that he is delivering, I witnessed him do this on 3 occasions in one night - Fire Him !

One of the best dinners my wife and I have had in a while. The food was great. I have never had a chicken entree that I enjoued this much.But what really blew me away was the service, every member of the staff was pleasant and seemed to know what we needed before we could even ask. The manager checked in on us in the middle of our entrees and I saw him do the same with several other tables, i really liked seeing that.

As others have said, service was rude - no smiles, niceties, etc. Staff seemed generally annoyed. The pappardelle was appalling… extremely bland and close to inedible. In fact, all dishes we tried were not seasoned appropriately to make them enjoyable. Far too $$$ for what they’re offering! I understand there aren’t many options in the area but PASS.

Second restaurant in Saugerties that uses too much red pepper in the pastas. Otherwise good but you could tell the servers are new.

Best Thai mussels!In last decade I have not found better tasting mussels anywhere. Sauce is so good you want to drink it or dip a loaf of bread in it :)Everything else is great too.

Made 7:00 reservations for the porch for a special occasion. Was told there would be at least a 45 minute wait because the people who had our table showed up late and they didn’t look like they were leaving anytime soon. Really!? Absolutely ridiculous.

Upscale yet down to earth. This place is awesome. They have great service, food, drinks, etc. When we want to go out for a nice night without getting too fancy, we go here. You can bring the kids and even the family dog, while still having a five star experience.

Fantastic dinning experience. The food was amazing, made with quality ingredients and seasoned perfectly. The cocktails were delicious and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. It was a little loud during the peak of service but that didnt dampen the experience. Great place!

Excellent food, friendly staff and a beautiful place. We ordered onion soup, Long Island Duck Breast and Goat cheese Ravioli. Desserts, Tiramisu and Flan. Loved all the dishes we ordered. I would definitely come back and try other dishes on the menu.

Excellent. Service was professional, prompt, courteous and accommodating. Dishes were plated as works of art and prepared to perfection. The duck and the rack of lamb were outstanding. The bar tender’s old fashion was superb. 100%.

This is a high-end restaurant with prices to match. The food is delicious, the service impeccable, but expect to pay. The bottle of wine we split was $55, two entrees were $76... Lamb, duck, seafood, fish, beef and in-house made pasta. Not a place to bring kids but a beautiful dining experience with a festive atmosphere thats just a little too expensive for my budget yet deserving a top rating.

While on vacation in the area, I placed an order from the Red Onion via third party delivery. Due to no fault of the restaurant, my delivery ended up temporarily missing. Jeff from the Red Onion went above and beyond to help me hunt down my order. He was pleasant and communicative, even going as far as to offer to deliver the order himself. The meal was absolutely delicious and well worth the wait. A big ‘thank you’ to Jeff - I’ll definitely be ordering/dining in during my next visit!

Muscles were awesome. Ive never had a better waitstaff in my life, theyre so good they made Nobu feel like a Chuck E. Cheese

We enjoyed the Red Onion. The Smoked Trout Mousse was good but missing something... But I very much enjoyed the Hoisin-Sesame Glazed Tofu. The broth was delicious. We enjoyed a nice half bottle of wine (pleased there was a brunello there!and a gin martini (wish they had the blue cheese olives!). Cant recall our severs name but he was super nice and oddly enough we ran into him again at Pearl Moon!

Exceeded expectations in all categories. We went with two other couples, we all eat very well in the region and abroad. The prime steak was rare perfection. The ladies loved the seafood. Service and drinks good. Highly recommend.

My friends and I had a lovely Saturday night dinner here after it was recommended by our Airbnb host. We had the duck, NY strip, fish and chips and the seafood risotto and all were great. I have to remove a star because unfortunately our waiter failed to remove 2 glasses of Pinot of our bill which we had asked to be replaced for martinis before he poured them... in our haste we also failed to double check the bill. That aside we had a lovely night and would come again.

My daughter and I visited a few weeks back and I cannot say enough good things about this establishment. Warm and friendly staff greet you at the door. Because we did not have reservations, we were offered a seat at the bar. Ray the bartender was fantastic! He was attentive, engaging and made some excellent menu suggestions. The food was outstanding and the service beyond that. I highly recommend the Red Onion.

If I could give 6 stars I would! The service was amazing! Our waitress was very attentive. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance, and the food was absolutely amazing. I visited here from Georgia, and will definitely be back on my next trip up!

For a small town restaurant this is a big city taste. The food is excellent and so was the service! Our server Claudia was a gem. We had a very enjoyable evening! Highly recommend!

Amazing, incredibly quick and attentive service at Red Onion! I enjoyed the fresh bread, cocktails, appetizer and meal. I wanted to go back as soon as I left. This would definitely fall into my top 5 restaurants in upstate NY.

Always a wonderful experience. Always order liver and onions and it is always perfectly cooked, with whipped potatoes. The beet and arugula salad is a perfect beginning to the meal. You will not be disappointed eating at the Red Onion. So glad I live so close.

Sarah thanks so much for an amazing night. We were looking for a blow out dinner to end our two week road trip and you delivered. We happened across Saugerties by accident and talk about great first impressions! We will def be back to your fine community and awesome restaurant. The vibe, the food, the service, the wine all reflected a staff, from ownership to waitstaff to kitchen staff to the folks who keep your dining room so well maintained, with an engaged passion for the fine work you all do.

We sat on the side patio. It was screened in and well ventilated. My wife ate half my lentil soup she liked it so much and the fish & chips and halibut were excellent too. The service was also very good. Sorry, no pictures.

To start, the bread was fresh and pretty good, but maybe the wait staff could have served it after we ordered, so that our mouths werent full of bread when they finally took our order. The seafood risotto was the worst risotto Ive ever had, and was basically just sauce mixed with rice. The actual seafood bits were OK and were the only redeemable quality of the dish if there was one. When I asked a server for salt, they took a look at the dish I ordered, smirked, and then said, "Of course." The ambiance is OK, especially on the porch, with a GREAT view of the neighbors above ground swimming pool (eye roll). And lets not forget about the single bathroom, where you basically need to walk through the wait staff area to get to it. Overall, The Red Onion is a roadside stop dressed up as a fine dining experience. Dont be fooled, its not.

This is been one of my favorite places to dine since it opened! 👍😋 I havent been there in quite a while and its time to visit soon! Last time was with my friend on my birthday it was delicious the cocktails are amazing!! Waitstaff always on point and Ive never been disappointed!

It’s had reservations and were sat promptly upon arrival unlike other restaurants. Service was fast and professional. We ordered mussels, risotto, pierogi and the curry. Everything was delicious. No complaints. Our drinks were also very good, strong and not weak. I highly recommend this spot for a nice dinner.

Ive been eating here for over 15 years, and Kevin Katz - owner and head chef - has maintained his high standards.His menu always has a few classics, like calves liver or steaks, but balanced with innovative salads or Asian-inspired seafood. The bar drinks meet the high standards of the meals.

My husband and I went here because it is our anniversary. Table looked elegant. I started out with cast iron skillet mussles - roasted with lemon and butter. They were very good. Very tender and about 3 dozen of them.My husband started with a white bean and bacon soup with parmesan cheese croutons and olive oil. The flavors blended beautifully. It tasted rich and creamy.My husband had the chopped salad. Romaine, feta, olives, cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes with a shallot sherry vinaigrette. There portion was huge and very tasty.For my main entree I had the seafood risotto large sea scallops, Mexican large white shrimp, calamari , mussles, white wine and herbs. These flavors are fantastic. All the seafood was cooked perfectly.My husband had the has lf pound fillet mignon. Madiera green peppercorn sauce, roasted potatoes, spinach, and mushrooms. It was medium rare all the way through the fillet. It melted in your mouth and the sauce was to die for. It was rich and delicious. We finished our meal with a slice of espresso cheese cake. Very nice espresso flavor. What I liked was that it was not overly sweet.The place was quite busy but they have a great staff that take very good care of every table. They pay attention to detail and make sure you always have specific silverware for different foods. It was a great anniversary. Price was reasonable for a elegant dinner.

The food is that good. Cured sardines and home made pirogues are a must. Service is great. Make reservations if possible, it does get crowded.

This was our second trip after finding this brilliant little gem five years ago on a trip to Woodstock. Just as in our first trip, Red Onion just about defined what good food, good service, good ambience and a good experience is all about. The setting is intimate and romantic, with dark interiors and candlelit tables giving you a sense of being the only patrons in a heavily frequented place. The staff is extremely well trained and work well as a team ensuring our needs are anticipated and served. The back side of the house hits it out of the park with fresh ingredients and tastefully prepared dishes.

What lovely ambiance and cuisine. Seafood risotto was perfect and I loved the Apricot Hot Toddy. I will most certainly stop in again when Im visiting family in the vicinity.
