Sleek, expansive Japanese steakhouse with table-side grilled meats & seafood, plus a range of sushi.
Irvana Tran was rude, unprofessional and very disgusting! I’m not sure why she’s the manager buther attitude and way of communicating is very degrading! Thanks for the opportunity but I would never ever recommend this place to anyone to eat and definitely be employed
Great food and service! Udon noodles came out perfectly. Sashimi and sushi were excellent and service were great!
Our 1st waitress was horrible. We had to switch waitress in which the manager took over our table which was a little better but they still couldnt recover. The food however was really good. I would give them a 2nd try but itll be a while.
Everyone is disrespectful there , from the manager to the cook. I went to celebrate my son’s birthday and they were doing was humiliating and disrespecting me , my wife and our guests. We managed because of the kids , but never again.
Terrible experience from the customer service aspect. From the moment I had to switch out my tea- I got an eye roll. I asked for no onions because of an allergy. And they still had onions in my food when the chef comes out and put the food on the flat top. When I told the chef that I had requested no onions - I was AGAIN met with attitude from the waitress as well as the chef. Chef saying “my dude- I don’t know about your allergies. You gotta speak up”. Well- I had spoke up. When I gave the waitress my order and requested NO ONIONS. ZUCCHINI ONLY!The chef argued with everything requested from me. I told them I will not eat my dinner. Just give it to my kids. So I did not eat and was still charged $50 for one plate that was split between my two kids. I ate nothing. This experience was a birthday dinner surprise for my son and my sister in law. The birthday dinner is ruined for the two of them bc of an argumentative chef, wait staff- and then the manager on duty. She (the manager)came to table with eye rolls and nasty attitude. As a general manager myself - I can’t believe the way we have been treated this evening. People are not always trying to get something for nothing. The guest is always right in the restaurant/service industry. Even when they aren’t. However , in this case - we weee not wrong. We just wanted the food as requested.I am appalled at the treatment in front of my children and family for two ppls birthdays. As a guest that has been coming twice monthly for a while - me, my family, nor anyone else I can spread the word to will be returning to this establishment. Worst customer service I have ever experienced.
The food and the chef was amazing. The problem is that we had to wait almost two hours for a table due to when we originally came in. The hostess told us at first it would only be a 30/45 min wait. On top of that they tried to seat in the dining room after we specifically asked for hibachi seating. We finally got seated in the right location after we had to basically plead to them to be sat in the hibachi section due to it being my friends birthday. They don’t take reservations on the weekend but they should start.
Service mediocre at bestFood portions smallTaste blandValue very disappointingSushi should NOT taste fishy (not fresh)Nothing special don’t waste your time and money! We won’t be back
I went here after reading all the positive reviews and hearing great things about this place, but my visit was the exact opposite. After standing at the door for about 20 minutes we were greeted and seated, then it took another 20 minutes for someone to come and take our order. We waited for our food for over an hour after complaining MULTIPLE times. The food wasn’t that great and neither was the customer service. For such a high end restaurant downtown I expected a better experience, but oh well. I just will not be returning
so i decided to try this restaurant out just because i felt for hibachi, when i arrived it was obviously busy however i wasn’t acknowledged by the hostess until 10 mins later after i’ve been only been standing in front of her the whole time; anyways we were finally seated our waitress was hmmm irritable. The food is was subpar, drinks were okay. The straw that broke the camels back for me was the month old expired ticket they gave me to validate my parking, so i had to pay 💰 that as well.
Took someone there for their birthdayThey saw a certain chef they wanted him cook at the hibachi a Puerto Rican skinny guy End up being very disrespectfulNever again No .waitress Maya rude if you dont want to be there working dont then you try to pad my bill stop robing people worst night ever
If youre looking for an hibachi grill that cooks at the table in uptown Charlotte, then this is one to check out.Youd be surprise at how many restaurants in Charlotte use hibachi in the name, but dont cook at the table, so this was certainly a treat to find. The ambiance is nice and can be relaxed casual or dress up depending on your mode. The hibachi price is $25 - $35 per person depending on what/how many meats you order, with an automatic 20% gratuity. It includes soup and salad for the appetizer and rice, noodles, veggies, and 2 shrimp with the meal. They are liberal if you want substitutes (i.e. swapping salad for a second soup). The service is hit or miss. The wait time depends on if they have a grill table open and how quick it takes to fill with other guest (seats 8). Our server was nice, being very attentive to refilling our drinks. Our chef was okay, doing a few tricks, but the table behind us seemed to have a more entertaining chef that did more tricks shots with guest. If you have a birthday guest, they will do a birthday cake and song, albeit I dont know if its complimentary or an additional charge. The food is 4 out 5 stars. Tasty with good flavors, but nothing special. Also, since the chef cook things in layers, by the time I got my meats my rice and noodles were cold.Overall, 4 stars because its a hibachi grill to check out in uptown, but not a must see.
Food was decent but the The waitress we had was horrible rude and dirty !I took my husband here to enjoy a nice bday lunch and our waitress was so rude and funny acting it wasn’t even enjoyable: we got handed dirty silverware and take out boxes and when we asked for new ones she took forever to come back with them and had a attitude
Tommy from Atlanta was our chef, he was AWESOME !!! The food was DELICIOUS! Our table consist of 3 different parties totaling 8 people and neither party used the yum yum sauce due to Tommy garlic twist which made the dishes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ( ImpeccableGo and ask for TOMMY 🎟🎟( Hes Energetic, Sociable, Enthusiastic💥💪Lastly the restaurant was short staffed, the owner was working the bar, helped clean and whatever was needed, thanks to the owner your hardwork doesnt go unnoticed. The definition of TEAMWORK ❤
Really nice experience. Food was seasoned well. Portion was huge. Score 1 for leftovers. Will go back again.
The wait was a tad long but overall a really good experience! Just dont start out hungry or the wait is painful. For reference we went in at 7:30pm on a Saturday, was quoted a 30 minute wait time for hibachi, no problem just sat at the bar and got started with some drinks. It actually took around 45 to sit and then another 1 or so to actually get our food started cooking. I was so hungry. Its always fun watching open flames and food be skillfully moved around. Staff was super nice and the cocktails were tasty
We arrived at the restaurant and host would not honor the reservation we made through yelp even though we had a confirmation. We finally spoke to manager Vivian, and informed us the app needs to be shut down and was just rude. Seeing we were frustrated she finally took us to our table. One hour wait before we got served. Server apologized and was very sweet but being treated with rudeness and attitude from a manager and the host, we will never return.
First time guest…… Michael the cook does wayyyyyy too much….. making insensitive jokes and that laugh needs to be minimized …… ask him, he know what I’m talking about …..Also my shrimp was not cleaned……..Give the bartender a raise (brown skinned with curly hair.. black mai tai was amazing!!!!!Probably won’t be back. ✌🏼
We were told the wait was 45 on a Saturday night which was completely understandable however it took almost 1.5 hours to sit. They had two women chatting at the table that seats 12 for 30 minutes after they paid their tab. The manager stated she was not allowed to ask them to move to the bar or leave. Once seated another Hibachi table was seated across from us minutes later. The waitress took their orders first and with the shortage of chefs that made our dinner another 30 minutes later than if we ordered first. I understand times are different post Covid but with several elderly people in our party it was tough, we would have left but we already paid for parking and it was 830 by then. The chef was not entertaining and basically just cooked the food in front of a bunch of our kids. The food was average at best and to make it worse they added the 20% tip on top which clearly I would have left less for poor service. They never apologized and didn’t offer anything to compensate. I would never go back nor recommend it.
I almost didn’t stop in because the comments about the rude hostess. But I gave it a shot. I have never experienced such rudeness in my life. The hostess who said she was also the manager is horrible. Do not go here.
Great sushi rolls and good service in a fun, hibachi grill-style environment. Gyoza was quite good. Also had the West Ashley sushi roll (Ill confirm that name), and it was really good -- as recommended by our server. Ill definitely go back!
The food was great we tried several small dishes that were all very tasty
This place is hands down my favorite place to eat in Asheville. The food is just unbelievable! Service is amazing and the food comes out so quick. Highly recommend stopping here for food. Any dumpling will be amazing, especially the szechuan.
My first time eating Japanese, the food was good and we didnt have to wait considering it was Mothers day. I would definitely go back.
Awful. Warning, full detail, long review.I genuinely dont think Ive ever had this bad of service before. To start, we got there at 6:30pm ordered a drink at the bar while waiting for a spot at the hibachi table. When we were seated, the waitress left without asking us for drinks. She did not return for 20 minutes before asking if wed like anything. It was an additional 30 minutes to actually recieve the drinks. The beer we ordered arrived warm like it had been sitting out and never picked up.At this point weve been here for an hour and a half, an hour of it being at the hibachi table. It was another 15 minutes before we got the soup and salad, which was also messed up. She gave the wrong sauces for the salads.Next the chef comes up and "confirms" the food order which is all wrong. He showed us how the waitress had wrote it down for him, which was mostly wrong and out of order for where we were sitting. The food itself was good, The chef was funny and enjoyable. We were never asked for any drinks by the waitress unless we went out of our way to ask for a water refill. The waitress also completely forgot an order of white rice for one person, and never brought a cheesecake an additional customer was waiting on.Now the food is finished and we go to pay. We waited for 30+ minutes to get our bills and when it came all of ours at the entire table were incorrect with our orders. There was 3 of us in our group and 8 of us at the table total. Our group specifically asked for our food to be separated from each others before we even placed our order. The bill came out all together, with the wrong drinks from our neighboring customers at the table. Our over all experience was over 3 hours. We did not leave until 9:45. When we tried to tell the manager our concerns and complaints, she shushed us and walked away. The manager never came back and never apologized.
Probably the most fun I have ever had at a Japanese restaurant cook was amazing and the food was fabulous. Its definitely a restaurant everyone should try. Valentines out with my wife great food and fun. Another great night out with 3 friends and food was awesome and Mike the cook never does us wrong best cook in north Carolina 😋
My girlfriend and I loved our experience at Red Ginger. We took the light rail to get there which was just a short walk away. The food is an excellent value. We ate our fill and had leftovers for later. The drinks were fantastic as well. Id come by just for the Red Ginger cocktail. I saw some other reviews mention poor service, but that was not my experience. The staff was courteous and attentive over the course of our meal and made sure we had a good time
Food and drinks were great. All the staff here are amazing. The chef was absolutely fun!! I totally plan to return.
FANTASTIC sushi, great late night atmosphere, hot tea hit the spot. Everything was great across the board.
Went here with one of my bestfriends as she suggested it because we both loooveee japanese food. The parking was great but with kids and a stroller they definitely need an area with a low ramp when coming off the elevator bc we had to carry a double stroller up steps LOL. But the inside was beautiful a bit packed towards the back..but our server was awesome!! His laugh had us cracking up the entire time. He smiled and also joked with us and kept us entertained. The food was so good and definitely fresh...more than enough to take home and share. I loved the music and atmosphere!! Im going backkk and trying more food!!!
Nice place and good eats! A little expensive but we enjoyed it all.
OMG hands down the very best Japanese restaurant Ive ever been to the miso soup is actually seasoned the salad portions are huge and u actually get both rice and noodles so u dont have to be torn between which one to choose and the scallops are not just cooked to perfection but the biggest scallops Ive ever been served and top it all off the prices are the same as most all of the other Japanese restaurants this is definitely my new favorite Japanese restaurant I cant wait to come back to Charlotte so I can eat here again 😀
Drink choices at the bar were plentiful and the bartender was great. Food was excellent and the chef was good too. I definitely recommend the hibachi experience. Us Florida people really enjoyed it. 😁
We had a delicious meal here. This is one of the restaurants we always hit when we are in Charlotte. The Hibachi chefs are very entertaining and cook delicious food. The cocktails are also delicious and reasonably priced. The servers are great and make sure you have what you need. You can also get a table that is not around the grill of thats your preference. I also recommend the sushi as it was delicious. Highly recommended.
The food was good. The service was awful!! I will not return. Our food came out cold. The manager came over to our table and was very rude. After waiting for 11/2 hrs for our food, and one of the entrees didnt come out until 20 minutes after that, the manager Vivian stated "I can take all of your food and take it off your bill". Will we were in mid sentence, the table next to her wanted to talk with her and didnt day excuse me, she just turned to them and left our table. That was my first and last time going there. She was VERY RUDE.
This Restaurant has given my friends and me the best experience of really good food and service, we laughed, drink, eat and had a very good quality time. If you go, ask for Chef Mike, won’t regret it, I promise.
Good food good atmosphere, but the wallet will end up suffering...so Be happy.
So this place has a great vibe and aesthetic. Also, our chef was amazing and interactive and even had some new stuff incorporated that I hadnt seen before at hibachi. We were there for a birthday dinner and had chosen to eat at the grill. Our server and the overall cleanliness and staff vibe was terrible though! Our waitress did not come once to refill our drinks. She did not introduce herself. She seated us and came right back for appetizer orders but then only took mine and told my sister in law she would be back for hers and to "Hang on". She never came for it and brought my app out without ever checking with the rest of the table. Then when she did come back she wanted to take entree orders. My sister in law asked if she could place her app order and the waitress said "Im taking all orders for whatever you want and dont have right now so Ill get to you in a second". So rude! Then she refilled regular tea over my aunts alcoholic beverage so it completely ruined it and when my aunt asked to have a fresh drink made she said "I can get yours in a little bit I have to go put in these other peoples order right now and youre going to have to wait anyway because the bar is backed up". I mean Ive never had a waitress that blunt and rude before. Like I said the look of the place is great and our chef and food was amazing but the waitress kind of ruined it for us. We had brought a cake for the birthday and she brought us out to go styrofoam for our celebration and said ok bye. They forgot my sister in laws filet for the grill and the chef is busy cooking the rest of our food in front of us and asked her to go get him our filet but she never did so he had to leave the grill and go get it himself. The worst part was that on the check they had the audacity to include automatic gratuity of TWENTY PERCENT after that terrible service! Honestly the food was good but the service so bad that I probably will not risk it and wont eat here again. Only gave 2 stars for the chef
Went with some coworkers for dinner. The chef was friendly and very interactive. The food was amazing, I had the teriyaki salmon n shrimp
The food was great, the chef had an amazing personality out of this world. The waiter was nice and friendly as well. You get plenty of food. They do charge a 20% fee for hibachi and I found out most of that goes to the chef so we felt obligated to tip the waiter extra. Great location, the experience was okay.
I’m giving it one star because the the sushi was ok. Service was horrible. We waited for 20 mins to order, three groups of bigger parties received their drinks and food before us. I was so disappointed when the food came. My salmon was so hard, a bear wouldn’t touch it. I couldn’t finish it. Covid must have gotten a hold of the chef’s tastebuds because the food had zero taste. We had to drown it in soy sauce and yum yum sauce. My daughter was so disappointed. Our experience put a damper on our mommy/ daughter date night. $100 down the drain. I did not leave a tip because our waitress ignored us until it was time to pay. I left note stating that service was terrible. I wanted to go to Nikkos, but they didn’t have any tables available until 11 pm. It’s classier and everything is good!
The food was amazing and the cook was hilarious 😆we laughed the whole time and had a very good first time experience at this restaurant. Ill definitely keep this in mind the next time we are here in the area!
Hibachi chef was entertaining and good fun. Food overall was flavorful. Table guests were friendly. Lobster slightly over cooked. About an hour wait for a table on a Saturday night. They do not take reservations. First come first serve.
Great service!! Excellent drinks. Sushi was great but it took a little while. At one point the wait for sushi was an hour. But nonetheless, it was great food. The sake was excellent as well.
We went on a Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is practicing safe distance by not filling up tables and spacing groups out. Masking wearing was seen by all staff and customers unless eating or drinking. Our group was a total of 4 and we enjoyed the live cooking and entertainment by the chef! Everything was delicious, the soup, salad, fried rice, fried noodles, steak, shrimp, scallops, and chicken. The shrimp sauce and ginger sauce is good.
Had the awesome opportunity to have lunch with some colleagues this week and immensely enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The Hibachi Chef was very polite and friendly a great place for a group of friends Birthday celebration or night on the town.
Not a safe spot for lunch. Arrived at 12:10, did not get food till after 1:20. Did not so much as get water refilled during the long wait. Ordered some sushi and some hibachi, nothing crazy.Missed meetings and barely got an apology, but did get a high mandatory gratuity. Neither a quality product nor portion for the lunch price, many fast casual competitors have a superior steak and more nuanced flavor beyond salt.
First time checking out Red Ginger. Pretty good food, nice decor but slow service......waiter had to be flagged down to get silverware for our table.Had the bento 🍱 box and enjoyed it. Will return again.
Great restaraunt with great service. Friendly staff and entertaining chefs. Even accomodated a group of 38 people for HOSA State Leadership Conference. Would highly recommend them for both the entertainment and the quality of the food that was served to us.
Simply put, my first dining experience with Red Ginger was awful! I originally made a reservation for two on my birthday, which was yesterday (November 19, 2018), but I was running slightly late. When I gave the restaurant a courtesy call to make them aware of my delayed travels, I was only rushed off the phone and was told it would be okay and they would see us when we arrived. I initially thought it was rude I was not given a chance to ask some questions about the dine-in experience, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were possibly busy. When we get to the restaurant, they did NOT have a rush but they did have two full tables with two chefs. The hostess asked me if I would like to sit at the dining tables or if I would like to wait for another chef to become available for the sit-down experience. Of course, being that I was dining in for my birthday, I chose to wait 20 minutes for another chef and meanwhile ordered some drinks at the bar. My problem with Red Ginger was that when we were finally sat down and afterwards the chef arrived 20 minutes later, he asked us and the other couple, who joined us later, if there were any special occasions...again, I made them aware of my birthday a third time. After noticing they were celebrating other birthdays with nice music and a dessert with sparklers, I thought it would be nice to have the same done for me...however, my birthday was never recognized. Anyway, while the chef cooked, he rushed through the entire thing with little to no conversation and the food tasted horrible; it all had an awful burned aftertaste and the vegetables were all bitter to taste. Then after the chef departs, we all notice him right outside the windows of the restaurant on his phone and smoking a cigarette! (which is visible in the picture I took and attachedMind you, this was not even 10 minutes after he left our table. I was not please and highly disappointed I wasted my time and my birthday evening at this Uptown Charlotte spot, where I had high expectations for...when I could have simply picked something more local and more satisfying.
LOVED IT! We found this wonderful place on a busy, crowded Saturday night full of celebrations. Even though it was packed, the service was exceptionally polite and food was well-prepared and delicious!! Our server Maylynn is exceptional :She remembered everything we ordered and came back often to check on us. The sushi is phenomenal. ありがとうございました and 非常感谢你
