Red Eye - Coffee shop in Saginaw, United States
I used to run small concerts at the C. A. G. E. (Collective Arts Gallery and Exchangewhere the Red Eye is supposed to reopen. I have been anxiously been waiting since the day they closed to reopened. I want to sit in that space and reminisce the packed room and hear the songs in my head. It’s sad it’s taking so long to re-open as I don’t want to support StarBucks and maybe I’d rather being in Saginaw than go to Shields for a sit down setting. Please hurry as I remember hearing it was only supposed to be a few months to transition over. We are all looking forward to it. Finally I saw a sign go up and that made me very happy and hopeful.Love.
Astonishing atmosphere, brilliant service, delicious coffee, and my girlfriend loved her soy chai latte
Love their coffee, social distancing efforts and ambiance. They make lovely coffees! its open everyday from 6 am to 6pm.Honey oatmeat latte with cinnamon topping is ridiculously good.
My friends and I have been coming here since way back in 1994. Its is a warm friendly place for you to get together and enjoy a great cup of coffee or my personal favorite, a Chocolate Mint French Soda! Every time I come back home to Saginaw, I make it a point to stop in! Thank you for all of the wonderful memories!!! :-)
An old favorite of mine! It was great to see theyve adapted their service to practice distancing! Sanitizer available and masks for sale are a bonus for sure.
Ive been wanting to explore more of Saginaws restaurants and this little coffee shop is great! They have fantastic coffee. I ordered an iced mocha today and it was so good. I would love to go back and try more of their coffees and menu items.
Had a couple cups of tea,and seen my niece Halie sing with a group of very good musicians . They are all friends from high school and it was a cozy atmosphere with a full house
Went around 7pm for a date, and the barista was very friendly. He brought our drinks over to our table, even though we didnt ask him to. The music was nice and very chill, everyone in the cafe was quietly chatting, and the lights werent super harsh. I ordered a Chai Tea Latte with soymilk, and it was amazing. I also split one of their chocolate chip cookies, and it was quite good as well. We stayed until close, I highly recommend coming here for socializing or studying!
They do not sell individual cups of there beans. Makes it hard to know what beans you want to bring home.
This place was one of my frequent haunts as a post-teen. 20 years later the coffee is still excellent and the aesthetic hasnt changed much. Good for a dose of nostalgia.
The coffee and service was excellent. Its the kinda place you want to go to have a deep philosophical conversation.
Loved the coffee and the feel of the place! Id definitely go here again.
Tasty coffee. Ive tried a few different drinks and got hooked on the mudslide with a little bit of caramel added. So delicious! I caught myself going every day, but coffee cost money. Would definitely recommend this place for true coffee!
So unique. I love how they have different chairs. And the little notes in the wall. I wish their was more small neighborhood businesses like this.
What an exceptional coffee shop! Service is impeccable. Our Barista, Misty, was extremely knowledgeable about coffee and espresso and a wonderful host. The coffee menu is extensive as is the food menu. The place also has live music and is very comfortable to spend your time. Check it out the next time your are in Old Town Saginaw.
I stopped in with my best friend. We are from New Castle, PA. We came into Saginaw early for a concert and drove around town. When we stumbled upon this, we wanted to give it a try. The store front doesn’t stand out very much from its surroundings, but the inside is comfortable, artistic, and vintage. The white chocolate mocha that I ordered is delicious and subtle and took about 3 minutes to order, pay, and receive my coffee. It cost about 4 bucks. The clerk is approachable and friendly. He could tell we were first timers by our infatuation with the menu which has a decent number of items on it.I enjoyed sitting at a small table with the smell of blueberry coffee and chill acoustic music over the speakers.Would come again.
Great experience! Many great performances on open mic night. Went to see a friend do stand-up comedy for the first time and he really brought the house down! 🎙️
Great coffee drinks & atmosphere, enjoyed the private section in back. Barista very friendly and customized my drink while chatting with me.
Great coffee and the baristas are super friendly! The prices are very good especially when you compare to how expensive Starbucks is. You can get shots of expresso, ice coffee, hot coffee, and even soda.
Coffee is always excellent. Love the Organic Peru blend! The atmosphere is relaxed and its a nice place to go for a get together to have some conversation.
A cafe with true grit and character in Old Town. Truth be told, I discovered the place in high school and its still one of my favorites in the country.
Ive loved this coffee shop since I started hanging out there in highschool ( 1999). The atmosphear is still great ( though not smoky like it used to beand the Chi Latte is still the best Ive ever had ( and seeing as its to only drink I get at coffee shops, thats saying somethingand the woman working there was awesome!
Misty is the best barista Ive ever had at the Red Eye! Shes super cute and a fast barista!!
The service is exceptional. Arlene is adorable. Local artist works for sale. Just read BENS review. Sorry to hear about his experience. I promise you, if you bring it up to Arlene, every amend will be taken to correct the problem. The employee working may have been having a bad day. Were all human after all. Giveem a second chance. People are only strangers until You introduce yourself. Familiarity breeds acceptance.
was meeting someone at the red eye, was only sitting for 15 minis before a was asked to leave for not ordering anything. Meanwhile the lobby is completely vacant, not a soul in site except for me and the barista. This used to be one of my usual spots, my friends would order coffee and i would order a Jones soda. However I cant say Ill ever be going back there again.
Best coffee shop I have ever been to, hands down. Been going there for years, will continue to go hopefully for years to come. Suggestion: Grab your favorite book, head down to the Red Eye, get an Almond Joy, and enjoy the atmosphere.
Nice coffee place! Cool vibes and good coffee. Cookies were also delicious.
Nice atmosphere. Comfy setting. The WORST caramel latte Ive ever had. Thought it might me powdered. Couldnt finish it.
Expect good quality coffee and limited food (bagels, cookies, etcat a VERY reasonable price!
Specialty coffees are great, reasonable prices, cozy atmosphere, and kind baristas. Love this place.
This is an average coffee shop. The service was good and fast. The coffee and Italian soda was nothing to write home about. The decor was nice. The chair I was sitting in needs to be redone so it dont sink down in the hole. This coffee shop has been around for awhile.
Nice place to have a coffee/drink & meet with people in a calm inviting environment. Chill vibes, nice eccentric style there. Prices are good too. The girls who work there are super nice & polite as well. I would suggest anyone who likes coffee/drinks to check RedEye out!
This place is small and cozy. If you want any kind of coffee or tea, this is the place to get it! I love coffee but I have little knowledge about it what so ever, so the barista was very friendly and helped me out. I told her what I liked and had her surprise me and just make anything for me. She brought it to my table and I loved what she made me! I highly recommend this place. Even though I heard about this place before, today was the 1st time I went and Im very glad I did. The prices seem to be fair also.
Always has a fantastic selection of coffee, interesting art on the wall, books to read, and people to talk to. Great place to relax!
A very chill spot. I like their menu and customer service was great. I tried the Almond Joy and a everyrhing bagel. SO GOOD! I believe they have live music some times as well.
So great and I am gluten intolerant so I can go here and know I wont get sick from the coffee, coffee wise, In my fantasies they will one day offer GF baked goods.
Smallish, locally owned coffee shop with good coffee and good service. Nothing special, nothing crazy and thats what I appreciate most. Highly recommended!
Well-made espresso drinks. Nice place to study or meet a small group of friends. Staff always friendly.
Great looking place with good coffee. Didnt have any soy for a Latte but the my Red-eye was good.
This place is the real deal coffee joint in Old Town Saginaw. Its a great place to grab joe to go or sit down and get some work done. The staff is always very polite. My usual order is the Red Eye(2 Shots of espresso and house coffee).
Theyre always patient when my daughter and I come in and try decide on what to have. A fun, & funky place to get good coffee with great service in Old Town!
When I visit home this is always a must stop, either alone or to meet up with a friend. I have been going here since I was in high school. A true gem in the city of Saginaw, great vibes, good music, and warm atmosphere. If I ever made a coffee house Id do something so similar.
Best coffee in town with great baristas. There is always an assortment of brewed coffee and snacks. Tea and specialty drinks made well every time! Love this place!
Eclectic vibe, old mid-20th century feel to the place. Coffee and staff are great. Nice place to sit a spell in Old Town Saginaw.
Very chill and unique atmosphere. Good drinks and snack foods. Somewhere I can even bring my kid to and play board games.
Cool place with great coffee/expresso! They also sell beans and will grind them just right for my french press:)
I love the vibe and style of this shop. The coffee is generally good, but Im not a fan of some of their blends or drinks. They do have enough variety though that youll be sure to find something you like. A lot of locals in the area like to hang out here.
This is a great, retro coffee house. The clientele reminds you of Greenwich Village. Many artist and poets from the area are displaying and performing their work here.If you want to drink coffee and loiter, this your place. In addition, all the chairs are reclaimed house chairs. None match, but all are very comfortable. Many places install basic chairs to encourage people not to hang around. The Red Eye is completely opposite.Be aware, many "alternative" lifestyle people frequent the Red Eye. If you cant keep an open mind, this may not be the place for you.
Weird cross between an old timers coffee house & a methadone clinic. 50¢ refills. Coffee always piping tepid in dispenser so ask for fresh. To eat there are two bagels, a wheat thin, and a half eaten granola muffin.
Great coffee but I dont care for the dirty "artsy" interior. Their sweets leave much to be desired but the great coffee more than makes up for it.
