Classical and modern Chinese dishes in an elegant room styled after the Shanghai of the 1920s.
Poor quality ingidients and frozen foods used.Left with a stomach ache. Would not reccomend
Very delicious and tasty chinese food of all kinds. Fresh ingredients and made traditionally, authentic flavour. Staffs serving very nice and quick! An always go to restaurant for dinner. ;)
This place used to be great but now its different the food was great the atmosphere wasnt there because not enough people in.Its not authentic anymore as we had a guy in a cap and no uniform take the order and drinks were served in the oldest pub glassies ive seen in ages
Excellent selection of authentic Chinese food. Simple English friendly menu also available. The rice is cooked to absolute perfection.Very friendly, courteous and helpful staff.Ambiance not as dark as other reviews state. We didnt have to wait long either. I will be returning to try different things. For starter I had whole baby squid which were alright but I wouldnt order again. For main I had crispy fried beef in Cantonese sauce which was excellent.
The mixed meat fried rice was actually mediocre. An average Chinese takeaway would have been as good. My wifes King Prawn fried rice similarly was nothing special Admittedly, these are hardly adventurous choices. The food also had to be returned as it was lukewarm. The Tiger lager was very cold. The bill including a bottle of water came to about £40 , including a 10 % service charge they add. It seemed incredibly expensive, bearing in mind we just had the fried rice. It may well be that this restaurant excels with the more exotic dishes. In the past, the portions were huge.
Very authentic Sichuan cuisine, delicious, friendly waiter service
Red Chilli is operated by racists who prefer their customers to be Chinese rather than European, Asian, Black or anything else. The last time I visited (sadly, Ive been more than oncewe (a nicely dressed, quiet groupwere admitted and had the bill brought before we started eating. In the middle of eating, we were told "we are closed" twice. This wasnt done with the Chinese customers who were still eating. Why let people in and take their money only to do this? The food is good but not good enough to make up for the atrocious service. There are many good restaurants in Leeds; give them your business instead. This place, and the dreadful people who run it, need to go.
Really wonderful!! Is very local for Chinese students. Very like this.
it is a very nice meal, very satisfied. we will coming back
Food nice. Service ok, took a long time for drinks.Watched as writing review
Very good quality ingredients and authentic sechuan recipes. Highly recommended.
The service was great, the food was excellent.
Been to Red Chillies a few times now, the food is good but some of the staff are not too bothered bout the customers. The restaurant is very dark and dated tbh but again the food is good but pricey especially when adding seafood options to dishes.
Good food, very nice ambience, good service. Great for spicy 🌶 food.
Soft shell crab is excellent.Nice vibe.Worth trying
The food was mediocre. We asked how large the portions were and were told that they were smaller than they actually were so were conned into ordering more - luckily you can ask for containers to take the leftovers home. The service was the worst I have ever experienced. We had 3 servers separately and sporadically ask us for our drink order and then 2 others ask in the same manner for our food order. The food was then served warm and separately at various times rather than all at once. Personally would not recommend dining in.
Food was delicious, Portions are huge, well worth the money. Definitely making another trip here in the future
Ordered on Deliveroo. Food was absolutely disgusting, all meals we ordered were such poor quality. I didn’t feel safe to eat the meat due, and put everything in the bin after a few mouthfuls. A complete waste of money!
Good taste. Highly recommend people to come and eat.
Very decent Chinese food and fair price as well. Have a try
Fantastic food as always!
First time in and WORSE experience ever. We told the waiter that we have to leave by 7. our food gt to the table at 7:05. (1 hour waiting for the foodfirst to order in our sección and last to be serve. They are very incompetents they do not have a good customers service. I will not recommended to anybody. I bet there’s better Chinese restaurants in town.
Delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere, with unusual sichuan food! Loved it!
We visit last night and the food was some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were all friendly, polite and attentive.
Great quantity at affordable prices. Excellent ambiance and service. Highly recommended :))
The food was very nice as usual, the basa fish with chilli we ordered suited our appetite very well. Well recommended and would come back again.
Delicious food and quick friendly service. Have been coming here for many years and always have a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend.
Pre covid we would come every wedding anniversary. We wont be back. Scruffy staff (some in baseball caps and hoodies!), slow mediocre food which is definitely smaller portions but at the same price. Disappointing.
Have been here before and always had a good time and food was great , but this week walked in the room was freezing the waitress had a coat on the bar man had his coat on , we asked if they could turn the heating on but just got snubbed off , I wanted to leave but my wife said let’s give it a chance. Omg what a mistake the food and service was terrible , sat in an ice box all night the only good service was when I asked to pay. Will never go again.
Did not read the reviews, mistake one. Staff were nice but completely disorganised and gave the vibe that they won the job contract by successfully locating the apron in the takeshi maze of waior recruitment. Waited 2 hours for them to poison my Vege mate with meat and for the replacement food to come out suspiciously quick compared to the rest. Food was either over salted or over sweet and we took a doggy bag home unsure of what the fate of the bagged food would be. 2 stars because they didnt charge for drinks but honestly I think they just forgot.
We went on Chinese New Year, we waited in the lobby and we were ignored by staff for 10 minutes. There should be front of house staff ready to greet and assist you. Eventually we were taken to be seated by a guy with a poor attitude, we asked for jug of water and pot of Chinese tea.He came back and asked did I want green tea or jasmine tea, I said I just wanted typical Chinese tea that is common in restaurants. We only received two glasses of water and he never brought tea. It took 30 minutes for a waitress to appear, she was a very sweet girl but the place was being very poorly managed. So we ordered Spicy Dumplings, Lemon Chicken, Griddled Potato chips with sliced pork belly and egg rice. I had to ask again for Chinese tea.Tea came 15 minutes later. Then we drank tea for 50 minutes and some of the food came with slightly apologetic waiter. He said they were struggling due to Chinese new year take away orders, but that is not a good excuse!. You are a big business with several restaurants in UK and you cannot manage afew orders on a very important day?. The lemon chicken was OK, but very basic like take away, not even lemon pieces, and quite small portion. The spicy dumplings in chilli oil broth was nice but probably made with frozen dumplings. The egg rice was very good but portion for two was a little small. The Griddled potato chips and pork belly slices was mostly round potato slices and red chilli pieces, hardly any meat!. Tried charging us for two pots of tea but we only had one. Also ask for 10% service charge. So overall a very dissapointing experience, service is appallingly bad. And it wasnt just us that suffered, I could see other people had dissapointed faces, including Chinese families. There seems to be a disconnect between the staff, no leadership and bad attitude from the tall guy. And why so mean with the portions and meat? The prices on the menu are not cheap, pork and chicken is not expensive meat. Its a shame because Red Chilli could be good, its nice to finally see home style Chinese dishes offered on an English language menu and not just typical sweet and sour, hoisin duck and bbq ribs. People want to try new traditional Chinese things, but not if the service and atmosphere is like this.
Deliveroo order, food was completely cold. Ordered half duck and salt & pepper chips. Salt & pepper chips were vertically same as normal chips. Duck portion is as tiny bearing in mind half duck was £22.80. I’m certain it was only a quarter duck portion as there were only 5 or 6 pancakes. Will not be ordering again.
Weve had a meal here tonight and honestly it was pretty diabolical! First of all, the service was really sluggish, whilst it was a little busy when we came in, loads of staff were running around but not really paying attention to whos waiting to order at all (we felt a lot of them just wanted to "look busy"). Sat there around 35 minutes before we could even order drinks. There was a man walking around (the manager maybe?being quite rude to all the other staff which we just found disgusting as he was just short of shouting at everyone he spoke to whilst literally standing right next to customers. Weve ordered salt & pepper spare ribs as a starter - DO NOT ORDER THIS! Weve never ever ever ate anything so bad! Theyve battered the hell out of those ribs and there was no seasoning on it at all, all we could taste was the weirdest deep fried oily batter and bits of meat. Sweet and Sour chicken was left less than half eaten - again, whats with the horrible batter on everything?! It tasted weird, bad and unlike any sweet and sour chicken weve ever tried elsewhere. Weve also had the GongBao diced chicken with peanuts and dried chilli - that was.... interesting... the chicken just tasted weird again (no batter this time at least!the sauce (soy, we presumewas sickly sweet and the amount of oil was just unbearable. A side of egg fried rice was the last bit, whilst it was generally alright, again - OIL GALORE! Everything was just covered in oil and salt and sugar! In the last 2 years weve visited this place maybe 5-7 times, this time was definitely the last and we will not be returning as each time the food has gotten worse and worse. Having spent a total of nearly 2 hours at the restaurant and waiting to order, listening to the rude man (if hes the manager we feel sorry for the staff who works thereand then essentially eating horrible tasting over fried batter and oily food with little actual flavour - no thanks! The price does not represent the quality at all and were now left feeling like weve drank half a bottle of cooking oil with a side of salt/sugar - NEVER AGAIN.
Very nice food. There was a starter brought out that had pickled vinegar and other assortments of food that was super delicious. I learned how to use chopsticks....basically stab the food with one stick and throw it downt Gregory Peck! Beers are foreign and hard to pronounce especially after a skinful, dont get lairy with them otherwise Chinese Chilly Billy comes out with a cleaver to persuade you to leave. Great restaurant.
Retuning to Red Chilli 15years later was quite disappointing. I used to love their dishes during my uni life. Although it was quite empty, the service was very sluggish and all the dishes didnt come at once.We had to ask for a bill a couple of times. Additionally, a highly recommended vegetables with crispy noodles were extremely greasy which made us feel sick. Was good to go back to see how things have changed but no need for further trials for us
For what we paid the food was very mediocre and lacked flavour. We was really looking forward to visiting here all week and it wasnt worth the wait sadly. The staff were amazing, I cant fault the service the slightest. However the food wasnt up to standards. The soups were ok-ish but missed some ingredients that was stated on the menu, the noodles represented the texture of Bombay mix the meats that came with the dish were questionable, the prawns were very gritty and the sauce wasnt anything like salty duck egg yolk. When asked questions about some items on the menu which were very basic and we got the answer of "I dont know" we wasnt offered glasses for our drinks.Only good thing was the free glass of wine. Maybe in the future we will try again when the full menu is available but for the time being we wont be returning any time soon which is a shame
I love the atmosphere of this restaurantThey’ve got good interior and lights which makes the place a bit more sophisticatedThe staff were friendly and most of all the food was tastyThough the prawn didn’t seem so fresh it kind of had a smell..But the overall taste was niceI would recommend it to the ppl who enjoy or miss Chinese food
Staff very friendly and polite, setting and decor was lovely, food was really tasty and flavourful,.
Really nice Chinese restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere is light and relaxed. An extensive menu with a great selection of foods. The food was tasty and portions were generous. I would recommend this place
The food is very good and service is prompt.
Authentic, beautifully presented dishes that deliver flavour and do not disappoint. This restaurant is a true hidden gem for those food lovers in want of a real dining experience. Reasonably priced. Not for the chip and egg set but for those who truly appreciate good food.
Wasnt overly thrilled with the menu, my meal was literally chicken and a mountain of dried chillis.
Consistently great food every time I come. Staff are always fast and on point. Its very reasonably priced for where it is too
Luv that! Terrific!Banana ball is extremely gorgeous!!!!!! Crispy n yummy !!!I have to say staff there is really nice n friendly, they recommended the dishes for us patiently.Anyway, wonderful experience! xxWe definitely will come again! Red Chilli is the best place for me with my best friends! XX
We went for a meal to celebrate a birthday last Saturday, and as usual, had a fantastic meal. Great service, great food and great value for money. They send a very loevly waffle cake with ice cream for my birthday. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the salt pepper baby squid and steamed seabass. Definitely will be back.
Red Chilli is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Leeds!!!!! I go there frequently with my mates about 4 times per week (almost every day)! The dishes are delicious especially for dumplings and a variety of buns and other pastries. And we always get some free side dishes (a bowl of roasted peanuts, kalte Rettichstreifenbefore we order the food, and also get fresh fruits when we finished eating. Attentive Service :-)The most fantastic experience is in yesterday!!!!Yesterday was my birthday!! N when we finished eating, the staff in Red chilli sang the birthday song suddenly with a cute cake!!! They really touched me cuz they prepared these things without any reservation!!! They just saw our birthday balloons then celebrate for me! Today I still choose this place for dinner and the services and dishes are brilliant as always!Five Star Certifications for Red Chilli Leeds!!!!
Nice atmosphere to the restaurant very nice deco. Friendly staff and the food was spot on could not fault it. With authenticity cooked food. Recommend a visit if your in Leeds. Parking not to bad. Turn left at the restaurant some parking space there if not you can park at morrisons. 2 min walk.
We love the food here and come regularly. Big portions and quality ingredients.
Amazing menu of so many dishes! Very helpful staff and large portion sizes! I would defo recommend and planning my next visit
