Red Barn B.B.Q in McAllen

This place has been around since I was a kid. Hands down the best BBQ in McAllen. If you want real BBQ with true Texan meat and sides. Thats right they have Fajitas!

Excellent service, cozy family place. The food we ordered was homemade quality with great flavor. Looking forward to our next visit.

The food was ok. It used to be much better, but its been at least 10 yrs since Ive been there. The service was awesome.

Very friendly staff, they were so welcoming and made great conversation. The food was very filling and tasted amazing. I will definitely be going again. 😁

This place has one of the best brisket in the Rgv. The restaurant is small but it throws off that homemade rustic vibe. I felt I just got to my grandmas house to eat as soon as we parked.The brisket is moist and super soft, adding the sauce is the cherry on top of the cake.I give 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ordered the 3 meat platter with fajitas, brisket and beef ribs and rice, beans, potato salad and pico de gallo and flour tortillas. What a feast...loved loved the barbeque...so tender and moist with their barbeque sauce...customer for life 5+ star rating.

Got the brisket plate. It came with rice, beans and your choice of flour, corn tortillas or bread. Its not an authentic BBQ place because they had fajitas plates...I really like moist brisket and this was not it, unfortunately. What made it worse was the conversation the waitress and Im assuming owner were talking about. They spoke about a clogged up toilet, with specific details. I couldnt eat after that :/

The wife and I have been traveling all over Texas looking the best brisket. This is not it. It looked chopped. I know the difference between moist fatty marbled brisket and lean brisket that has been marinated in a crockpot. This meal does not get on my top 30 list. See photo. When we walked in dirty tables everywhere, flys. Tries to look rustic, ends up backfiring.

Great BBQ!! FISH FRIDAYS ROCK!! All their food has so much flavor and the beer is great!! The Red Barn nachos are so good everytime we come we always order a plate to go!!

Got the 3 meat plate, the brisket and sausage were very good. The beef ribs were huge and good. The rice had zero flavor and was dry and the beans also have zero flavor.

Awesome bbq, enjoyed some amazing ribs, keep up the good work, if you not tried redbarn bbq, you dont know what you are missing,.

It was ok not like in the past where the meat is moist and the sides are super. It wasnt bad, but Ive had better there. Maybe an off day I dont know. Will give them the benefit of the doubt before passing a final judgment.

Love this place, ever since I was little my parents would bring brisket home from the Red Barn. I love the sliced brisket, beef ribs topped with their bbq sauce and the chicken is real good as well.

My fav bbq place of all time. Go there ppl. You cant go wrong. Ita not all fat and nasty over seasoned brisket like rudys. Yuk. This place kicks a$$

We mainly do carry-out from here. The food is great! And the people who work there are all so friendly. We really enjoy going here and its one of our "treat" restaurants when we want to splurge on something we dont normally have. As far as we are concerned, they have the best B.B.Q. in McAllen and the surrounding area.

Ordered full rack of ribs Cole slaw and mashed potatoes thru grub hub. The Ribs were the worst Ive ever had. They were dry tough and tasteless. Cole slaw was dry and tasteless too. Meal came to $38. It was horrendous. Dont waste your money here

I love their beans and pot salad not their MEATS. The brisket forget it. No flavor!! Chicken is too dry.

Great Place for South Texas Style BBQ. Great staff and food. Will definitively be back for more. I was surprised with how fast they served me as I enjoyed freshly fried corn tortilla chips and home made Pico De Gallo.

I love this place. The fajitas are amazing but honestly the best thing you can order here are the beef ribs. The meat literally falls off the bone the moment you touch it and melts away in your mouth. Amazing flavor, great customer service. They have been here forever, it is a testament of the great meat you can get here. 😊

Got the brisket with sausage plate that included beans, rice, potato salad, and I can not complain. Everything had very good flavor and the brisket was cooked pretty damn good. I would come here again.

Excellent smoked brisket! Not to mention one of the few, if any, places in the Valley to have BEEF RIBS. No, not pork. Full, smoked slabs of beef ribs.

One of the best choices when youre not up to bbqing yourself .. Beef ribs were falling right off the bone !! Fried fish platter had a good flavor !!

My family and I tried this place out for the first time. The food was mediocre at best and in my opinion a little over priced. The aesthetics of the restaurant could use some updates to fit the "Red Barn" country theme. This place has potential to be a better BBQ restaurant with the right updates and changes.

We liked the atmosphere here. Our waitress was learning on the job, so it took a little longer to order. Food was good and plentiful. They had a high chair for my little one, and I believe it was the owner who came out to met us paying at the counter. He mentioned he was 1st Calvary, in Vietnam.😲

Hamburgers are really good I would even say best in town but dont open hours posted.

Horrible service! The owner is a real p.o.s. if you ask me . Food is sub par (I can do better jn my back yardand i kindly asked for a refund. When i asked why I showed them the that the bun on myh burger was burnt black! The chicken they gave me was dry like it was reheated from the day before and the brisket was just a sloppy mess of left over scraps no slices. ( bottom on the pan stuffthey denied me my refund and told me that was the usual quality of food they sell and have been in business for over 30 years......just because the lights have been on for over 30 years doesnt make this a quality establishment...horrible food sold by equally horrible people..dont waste your time or money.

I love the Red Barn. Been going to this restaurant since I was a baby. If you want pure South Texas style BBQ, this is the place to go!

If I could give less than this I would. The workers there are rude and not professional. I called to speak to a manager and was hung up on. Food is not all that great.

You know I loved the food here, always great service but recently bumped into the owner and he made a gay remark to me, really suprised me and I suprised him when I told him I was gay and thought it rude for him to act that way. Dont judge people, you might be talking to a local guide who will post on google, haha Oh well, I dont go to eat there anymore.

First off rice was dry,bread was hard, potato salad had no flavor , and the owner was very rude when I brought up my issues with here she simply stated you should of sent back the plate.over all food sucked and so did management!

Great find! The fajitas are good but the thin sliced brisket is awesome! Great, attentive service, have a new lunch spot.
