The food was really awful I got sick off the food because the grease with trap was dirty and my food was nasty and Ill never eat there again

Dive bar.***I took my wife on a date there, on a Friday. AMAZING burger and other food! The whole vibe was amazing!***Went back on a Tuesday and it wasnt a good experience at all! Ended up being a 1.5 hr wait for a 6 person takeout. Ended up being free due to the wait.Completely different staff. Father cooking, daughter at the bar, and the other family were the only ones there eating.We will 100% make this place our location to eat. Simply said, the staff didnt seem to expect orders on Tuesdays as a normal and werent capable at all.BUT the place is phenomenal on the weekends, per our experience.***My review is based on the visits except for the Tuesday.***

This place had some of the best pork tenderloin sandwiches Ive ever had, the service was good and the people were nice.

The food here is good but the place is kind of dirty when I came in, plus its not really meant for kids/familys.

I do not recomend this place my husband had onion rings they were not done. Also had cheese balls that were burnt . Politely told the older waitress she took them back after he took the raw ones out of his mouth. The cook put the onion rings he had in his mouth back into the deep fat fryer and the burnt them, then brought them back to the table and the oldér waitress said by the way we all tried the cheese balls and the were not burnt in a rude way.the only good service we received was young waitress she really tried hard to help us and she was polite .

I didnt go into the Recovery Room, I had takeout. However, the food was good. They have a night cook who is pretty good at what he does.

A very nice place the Bartender/Waitress was an absolute joy to work with. The food was very good and I can certainly recommend the breaded pickle spears. Clausen Pickles are favorite of mine.

Came in after reading reviews and a requirement for fried pickles. We were a little skeptical as we arrived. We went in the lady who handle all the service was great. She was friendly, attentive, and good. The kitchen to a but to get food out but we all liked it from the pickles, burgers, tenderloin and roast beef special. If in the area I would go again.

Very busy night at Recovery Room. Seated in side room. Food delivered quickly and normal quality very good. Great value and tasty.

So recovery room has Awesome tenderloins but the tenderloins are considerably salty.Recovery room also has very good cheese balls.And also recovery room has a pretty decently sized menue for being bar 🍸.

Tenderloin was delicious , small but huge on taste, great variety to go with your sandwich. Good service ,pleasant environment.

Food was awesome so no complaints on that. Now the service, that is where the 2 stars come in. First, I ordered an appetizer that didnt make it to the table until the rest of the order did. Secondly, my sandwich was suppose to come with fries but instead the appetizer came on the plate. Most importantly there was a man and woman both helping us (later found out they are the ownersand they were both 3 sheets to the wind. Slurring their speech, couldnt remember our drinks for refills, were stumbling around, and reeked of alcohol. I was told this is a regular occurrence. Regardless the entire situation became awkward in a sense and will probably just continue to get my order to go in the future vs staying inside.

They have the best breaded tenderloin in this area. 👍👍 very good place to eat. I recommend this to anyone to try.

In good news, the server was kind.In bad news, everything about this hole in the wall diner was absolutely awful. It was a recommended greasy spoon, so our expectations werent super high, but we had hope. It was a fairly quiet Sunday afternoon without a crowded bar, just what we were craving.And then the entire kitchen staff took a half hour break to go mingle with some patrons. (Its definitely worth mentioning that the cook never removed his glove between cooking, socializing, and returning to cooking. No masks either, if youre wondering food/COVID safety).Given the staffs unexplained break, our burger and salad took a solid hour to be delivered. Everything that should have been hot was room temperature. The produce was spoiled. We couldnt eat it (and both had stomach issues an hour after we left, which doesnt seem a coincidence).Our server recognized the problems and tried to make things right, but I cant say that even she can help us to recover from our impression of this room...

Dont let the looks of this place steer you away. Its been around a long time and thats a good thing. They know what they are doing. Service was great beer was cold and food was good. What else do you need! 5 stars if it didnt smell a little off and was a bit hot where we sat but that made the ice cold beer even better. Also met me help you decide what to eat.... Decided to try something completely different. The tar heal burger. Cheeseburger with chilli and coleslaw on it. Definitely something to eat with a fork! Great service and good atmosphere.

The breaded tenderloin is disgusting. Completely flat with no flavor over gravy that tastes like its from a can. I heard rave reviews for their tenderloin and I honestly laugh because I couldnt disagree more.

I had a crispy tenderloin salad. It was huge! Delicious and a great value. Server and service was excellent. My cousin had a tenderloin sandwich, side salad and cottage cheese. We both had to have a to go box. We stayed and visited for a very long time and it was fine with the staff. Great food and a wonderful visit.

The waitress was fantastic! I will say that much. However the chef is a poor excuse and should be kept behind sound proof walls. We could hear him clear in the back throwing out the F-bomb constantly and I have a mocking bird toddler with me. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich no mayo, it came out with bacon on it. Not sure why, I dont consume pork and obviously didnt order it. The chef took the bacon off refried the chicken with new cheese and sent it back out like that, gross! If it would have been a food allergy I would be dead. Beware!

Great food. 1st time here, and I had a Mushroom Swiss burger & fries. The flavor of the meat was delicious. They definitely use some good quality fresh hamburger. Ill definitely be back for another burger sometime.

The owners were very rude and I think the woman was drunk. Food good but atmosphere was terrible. She made racist comments. Sharon I think was her name.

Good tenderloins but not much seating. Good prices too. This is a local place with a bar with friendly people. You dont have to be dressed up here just casual or stop after work. Also service was fast. Took home some of my tenderloin for my next meal.

Tenderloin was exceptionally good. Very tender & no fat. They are always well-prepared. The service is normally fast. Friends from out of town like to go there. Fun place.

Foods great.... when the get it right... they have only got the order right once in the last four visits. Along with serving our food to the wrong table. And then trying to serve it to us after the wrong recipients had touch the food.

Favorite place to eat in Ottumwa! Fast friendly service. Great sweet tea and open face tenderloin meal is the best! Never had a bad meal.

I had the cheeseburger and Hubby had the tenderloin. Both excellent. Tenderloin was thick, not a rolled out thin plate like some. My burger was delicious! I could only eat half of it though. It was big but tasty. Great prices. Fast and friendly service. Atmosphere is more bar than restaurant and there are not a lot of seats. It was loud, even on a Sunday over a noon meal, but there were several large groups in the back. It was fine with us. People of all ages were eating here. We enjoyed the meal!

We were here an hour before food finally came. The cook lied to the waitress and told her to tell us that the burgers were taking longer (I got the special... not a burger). They were NOT busy, and everyone that had come in after us got their food before us, and guess what, they had burgers... but the food ok, the mashed potatoes had a strange taste, and the aforementioned burger was overcooked, but coffee was great! The waitress wss friendly, and continually keepinf my coffee cup full. This is the second weekend in a row that they were slow at getting food out. I had previously rated the recovery room at 5... I hope that they get back on track.

Excellent steak, great hospitality, friendly waitresses and bartenders. Were truckers from out of town but were treated like family. Will definitely stop next time around.

Great food in a cozy neighborhood bar and grill.The tenderloins are A1. Best around.Stopped in for lunch and the special was hot beef sandwich. It did not disappoint. Make this your go-to for eat in or carry out.

Large portions, thick, tender, tenderloins without any gristle or fat. Served on extra-large buns that have been toasted on the grill that sets the flavor up a few notches from most restaurants in the area!! Golden French fries are a special treat if yoh try them that Ive.not seen elsewhere. The only thing.I didnt like was the $1.74 charge for onion, pickle, lettuce and tomato. Ive not had to pay extra for pickle and onion before.

Great food in this little bar! Large portions and fairly priced. The beer is cheap and always cold. Staff is attentive and friendly.
