Reading Tandoori - Indian restaurant in Reading, United Kingdom
Great food and fantastic service. We went on a Wednesday for their midweek offer. Drinks are also very reasonably priced.
got a FLY in the sauce dip and the food was pretty bland, chewy chicken and lamb
Ordered from here this evening, with high hopes as we’re new to the area and have walked past a few times thinking it looked nice. However, the food took over an hour to come, when it did come we received the completely wrong order that was for another customer. We phoned to let them know and they hung up on us before calling us back to ask us to keep the bag and not open it so they could deliver it to the right people. When the food came, the standard was definitely not as we expected, with the chicken having brown marks all over. Also, with a dead fly in one of the sauces. Don’t order from here.
A picture speaks a thousand words
Nice hospitality and great taste of food❤️ highly recommended
Worst restraunt worst indan food in reading unreliable just wants to take your money
Went to this place today had the all day 9.95 buffet then got told they would over charged me cause I didnt eat of it Ive never heard of this excuse before so I give it one star sorry
Brilliant place to dine in. We had the Wednesday banquet, food, price and service were top drawer.Absolutely no complaints and going back again.
Some of the best Indian food Ive ever had! A must visit for any curry lovers!
The food is excellent ! Especially the chicken tikka biryani ! I have been here couples of times! Never disappointed
Still great, with great management.. A lovely restaurant with really nice food.
To be very honest with you guys, after roaming across multiple continents, I dont hesitate to confirm its THE WORST restaurant serving Indian food. The lunch & dinner buffet this restaurant serves with an average price of 10 GBP per person is not at all good. Everyday they will have same menu. Starters are good for nothing. In the name of fish pakoras, they will serve you gram flour fried in oil with almost zero fish content inside. Main course items are tasteless. Items looks very colourful and delicious however it doesnt have any taste. If your taste buds are active and you know how Indian food tastes then Im more than 100% sure, you will agree to my feedback after having it only once but I would suggest not to waste money in buffet.Where in this planet, you will find a buffet menu without dessert? Reading Tandoori is probably the only one. Thanks for going through my feedback.
FSA rating 5/5 as of 14 July 2019
Delicious food and great customer service. I made a very silly error with online ordering and they were extremely helpful and kind about it. Made my day, thank you!
Been to this restaurant a few times and I think it is possibly the best indian restaurant in Reading. Banquet night and Sunday buffet both excellent value. Service always excellent from a very friendly team.
Not one of the best restaurants. All the food we ordered was too sweet. Imagine biryani tasting sweet🥴🤮 basically everything even gravy was made overly sweet
The customer service is very good. They even offer a free drink alcoholic or non alcoholic after eating. Food tastes ok! not bad but not amazing! Decent Indian food!
Great food, great service and excellent value for money. Wednesday happy night £12.95 for starter, main, side plus rice or naan and Sunday eat all you want buffet only £9.95 all day. Highly recommended
Lovely Indian restraint. With lovely cooked food and helpfully and polite staff.
Very good friendly good customer service
The food smelled really bad, there was no flavour present in the dishes. The contents and the oil in the food were separated. I advise people to not order from this place 🚫! The food quality is very low.
Always great food and a warm welcome
I usually wouldn’t have bothered and left an average review, but in a self proclaimed all you can eat buffet, I witnessed the OWNER (who is very proud to let everyone know thispester a man into buying a drink when he asked for tap water saying ‘we barely make a profit on the buffet’This is a lie. It consists of frozen samosas and spring rolls, chicken wings, a couple of chicken curries with the worst and cheapest quality meat available and lamb intentionally cooked so hard you cannot eat large quantities (for non buffet lamb this is tender). This is not legal unless specified in the terms and conditions and he has no right to pressure customers into buying drinks. The man was told to “buy a drink or leave”. Please note this is a very underprivileged part of reading and this customer was very polite and did not breach any rulesThe owner literally patrols the establishment like a man armed guard. Signs everywhere saying “waste will be charged”. Food is abysmal, not fresh, buffet is very sub par. Hard pieces of lamb so you eat less, cheap chicken wings and frozen samosas, whilst constantly reminding people they don’t make a profit, lying through their teeth about this. These people would never feed this to their own family and grossly represent Indian food. This is the view they have of the people of Reading who they think do not understand anything about Indian food so they can serve this mess
Visit here regularly and have never had a bad meal yet!
Celebrated my friends Birthday. Food was delisous. Amazing Service. Will definitely go back and eat there.
What a find!!!missed the train last night and asked if we could come in just for drinks ,the owner was more than welcoming . In the end we stayed for a meal which was delicious. Thank you for your warm hospitality and great food
Very bad comunication with the customers! After I placed an order ( to be delivered at my homeI was waiting more than 1 hour so I decided to call to see what is happening and I was surprised to hear that my order has been cancelled because there was no drivers. Ok, I could undertand that if they was call me, text me or e-mail me to tell me this. But no, I was waiting and waiting...When I called they said that the order can be delivered after 5pm ( when I place the order it was around 1.30pmso I decided to go and collect the order. The manager give me a bottle of juice like compensation ( by the way, thank you for thatand when I areive hone I saw that my Roast Chicken comes without tomatoes and peas like it was write in the menu...not happy at all after I was waiting more than 1hour to receive an order and after I ended up to collect it...
Amazing food, friendly staff and nice ambience..their chicken chowmein and tandoori chilly chicken alongwith combo of garlic naan is a must try..im deffo going there again❤🍻👍
Been using this place for almost 20 years.Eat in when they gave you a rose and free liqueur after your meal.Havent eaten in for a while because of Covid, or used their excellent Sunday buffet, but my favourites remain their King Prawn Byriani and Tarka Daal.Ordered it just two weeks ago and remains best takeaway ever.Never dissapointed, Jalfresi OK too.Fifteen years ago they had Daal soup on the menu, to dip your poppadoms in, love to see that back !Love to see Dosa and Keralan food on the menu, rather than a pretty poor attempt at Nepalese food ...
If youre looking to have Asian food, Reading Tandoori is not a right choice. I had a terrible experience, they dont know how to cook Asian food at all. The food which I ordered was not well cooked also is quality was pathetic.Reading Tandoori is 💯 not recommended for anyone. After ordering and eating food from this restaurant I had fallen sick.
I wish I could have given stars in minus. The first day in Uk. Our hungry family ordered Indian food dal makhani matar paneer paranthas n rotis. When the food arrived the taste was like ……. Can’t say it. First time I was happy “thank god quantity is so less”. So I have to put less in bin. Bad taste is a small word for their food. Never ever gonna order from them
I class myself as a Curry connoisseur, Reading Tandoori ticked all the boxes from Chicken Balti to a Mixed Grill. The meat was so moist and the flavours were exceptional, I also requested the naan bread to be well done which was spot on, the mushroom rice was unbelievable, many thanks and I will definitely be ordering from Reading Tandoori again, I would’ve given more stars if I could #bestcurryinreading
Lovely meal out - so glad it was recommended to me as my last couple of restaurant choices havent gone well. Well spaced out & the only food left by the 4 of us was a bit of naan bread as we were full. :-). Will definitely return.
A very enjoyable afternoon. Mother in law took us here for my partners 50th birthday and the food and service here were excellent. The staff were polite and very respectful, the food was served with a smile. I will definitely come here again. Thank you to the staff.
We have been positively surprised by Reading Tandoori! It was our first time ordering from here and we will definitely order again soon. Chicken Korma was delicious and super creamy, Butter Chicken was incredible and smooth and Rogan Josh was the best one Ive had in my life so far. Biryani was unbelievably amazing too. Everything arrived hot and on time.
Normally this place would get four stars. Weve been here before and the service has always been excellent, the food top notch and they even offer a complimentary shot of spirit at the end.I rated three stars because theyre still advertising their happy Wednesday deal but when we arrived, they revealed that this wasnt actually the case, despite having told us over the phone and via Facebook that they were ( and STILL had a sign outside saying the deal was on)Its a little cheeky and money hungry, to pull your deals out simply because the government are paying 50%.Obviously we were frustrated and a little angry as we came for the deal after being told it was available and now we were left frantically looking up other dining options at gone 8pm when most other places were booked out. After sitting there for about ten minutes trying to decide what to do next, the manager finally decided to let us have the deal, which was appreciated, even if it felt like it was given a tad begrudgingly ( we wasnt offered the complimentary spirit on the way out this time despite them offering it to the other customers.)The food and service was excellent as usual, but our experience will a little ruined due to the big mixup.
Absolutely foul food mint yogurt was gone off chicken Aswell melted chips box place shouldnt be aloud to send food out please watch this video disgusting feel sick IL be pursuing the health authorities as Im sure this is illegal
We ordered 3 curry dishes yesterday evening and they all tasted amazing. Full of flavour and plenty of meat. Delivery time was spot on. Cant wait to have another meal soon.
Enjoyable meal with friends.8, 4 adults and 4 kids, of whom 7 had the buffet and one had a dish from the menu.Sundays is AYCE buffet night @£8.95 per adult and £4.95 per child.About 6 starters/ 2 rice / 12 mains/breads on offer. Most of the mains were chicken, a decent ale stun of veggie and a couple of lamb.Good selection of drinks including Indian beers (Kingfisher, Cobra etc.and a complimentary drink at the endAll in £101 and change so decent value
Good selection of chicken curries with the Sunday Buffet.
Absolutely awful food, was staying in a hotel so had it delivered, chips where shriveled up & soggy, food was so bland it had no taste what so ever, the chicken was good quality but the sauce had zero taste & the lamb was tough. Felt like it was just chucked together, containers was only half full. I never leave reviews but after paying £47 for a takeaway for 2 people I was absolutely disgusted.Do not order from here unless you are desperate for food & there is absolutely nothing left on this planet to eat.
£5.95 for THREE tiny Prawns. The dishes are packed with onions in an attempt to mask the fact that portion sizes are a scam. Called them to complain was told a manger would call me back. No one called back. DO NOT ORDER from here. Not good value for money at all. Places like this give takeaways a bad name.
Lovely food. lively Atmosphere. Really nice touch to give us complementary drinks after our meal. Had an amazing night with my family here, would definitely recommend a visit.
Excellent food and nice, tidy and clean restaurant. Staff are brilliant and really friendly. Can order for delivery or collection. Easy to get to on Oxford Road and near bus stops and Reading West. Food can be cooked to specific requirements. Good prices too.
Superb food and service. The restaurant is wonderfully presented crisp white linen table clothes. But it is the food that is the stand out star of the show. Every dish is tasty, fresh and ample in portion.I went with 2 colleagues from London. Proper foodies who enjoy great food everywhere. They ordered nearly a dozen dishes between them. The staff know the menu in side our. Could cater for the vegan at the table. The quality of the dishes meant that not a single morsel remained at the endJust one of the standout eateries I have ever visited
A favourite "Indian" restaurant, actually Nepalese. Range of the usual dishes with some more Nepalese ones. Best of the beer is Mongoose. The owner is always welcoming and the staff are friendly. Whilst I love the food, a couple of friends who are vegetarian are less keen. Wednesdays can be busy with a good offer for starter, main, rice or naan and a vegetable side dish.
As of 10th Sept 2018 I can say its the best Indian Restaurant / Takeaway Ive found in 30 years. The food is excellent, the service is excellent and the staff are great. Theyll be seeing a lot of me and I strongly recommend it. 5 stars and 15/10 from me.
food is ridiculously over priced and its not tasty. Didnt tell us beforehand that the card machine wasnt working and demanded that we pay about £400 in cash (we had a big group). If they had told us in advance it would have been fine as we would have gotten the cash but they didnt.
We struck lucky first time!Being new to the area, we were looking to find a good local curry house, to become a regular feature of our weekends. The Reading Tandoori came up as the nearest, so we decided to give it a try. We are so pleased that we did. We had a fabulous evening here. It has a lovely friendly atmosphere, with great staff and a very friendly owner, and the food is amazing. We will definitely be back.
Great selection of food, always had a good meal (delivery), staff have always been friendly and very helpful. Update 24-08-17 Had the opportunity to have a sit in meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was the usual high quality that Ive come to expect .
