Rawthentic Eatery in Courtenay

It’s hard to find plant-based, gluten-free restaurants on the island. We took the drive from Nanaimo to Courtenay just to experience this place. The wraps are made from dehydrated veggies and flax and are super filling. The burgers are wrapped in romaine lettuce. I was surprised at how good their Caesar salad is! Very friendly staff, tons of indoor seating, a nice outdoor patio, a huge parking lot out front, as well as clean and classy restroom facilities in the back. Because this is a raw restaurant you know you’re getting clean plant-based food with no gluten. I’m coming back and getting a large Caesar salad!

This place is amazing. Warm, welcoming staff, and food that will blow your mind. I tried their wraps, dill burger, curry, tacos, a smoothie bowl and a variety of snacks. All were money well spent. They are very transparent about ingredients and will offer to show you the list of ingredients if you ask. Highly recommend 👌 👍 👏

The food is AWESOME 👏 ate there twice in one day. I had the Avocado Pesto Roll - you can buy two or just one… I recommend buying 2 because you will want another one. It comes with a sauce that is soooo good it should be bottled and sold in stores. I also tried the refined sugar free desserts….WOW they are sooooooo good!! Try anything it’s all very good!!!! I will be back and highly recommend!!!

Awesome Greensicle shake.... I battle with sugar addiction and I drove into the dairy Queen drive-thru, and I guess in a moment of clarity said $&@$ it Im doing to Rawthentic..... And it was amazing. A breakfast bar with an orange Greensicle was awesome

Id give a 10/5 if I could!Soooo yummie! So many delicious looking menu options it was hard to decide what to order! The Creamy Dill Beet Burger was incredible. Comes wrapped in lettuce with a small side of dehydrated Kale chips and was the perfect amount of food, with saving the chips for a snack later. I did taste them though. And bought a big box of each flavor to take home!Staff was friendly and helpful too.

If your looking for vegan food this is the place to be. Only place in town who will customize your order and individual anything to your liking.

Amazing smoothies!! Good customer service, very sweet. I love that it’s all vegan, and I bet the food tastes amazing and I’ll have to try it next time I’m in town. Great smoothie for the price.

Awesome staff, lovely decor & excellent offerings ~ the new menu is amazing & offers a huge variety of delicious healthy items! Highly recommend for raw vegan healthy food, smoothies, hot drinks & desserts.

Really love the quality of drink available here, but Im compelled to say, the staff could not have been less friendly. Honestly, I know everyone is having a hard time right now, but a little effort goes a very long way. Perhaps even eye contact, maybe? So rude and unwelcoming. (edit: my visit was on Wednesday)

Love the food. Friendly service. Great portion size. I had the warrior wrap. Will definitely be a go-to stop on future trips up-island.

The food at Rawthentic is incredible, I loved the avocado wrap! I would hesitate to continue patronizing this restaurant, however, as the staff were less than friendly on both the occasions I ate there. The food left me feeling great, but the experience felt as though, by making an order, we were an inconvenience.

Delicious raw food selection! Tons to choose from and very creative. The kale chips are also delicious but everything here is great and large portions. Veggeroni and raw burger with a freshly squeezed juice is what I had. All very good.

Thank you for the delicious eats! While I’m on the road I’m always looking for FRESH, QUALITY, and RAW options! Great options, all plant based and amazing tasty food! Try the smoothly bowls and even pick up some bulk items!

Just what I am always in search of. Amazing healthy vegan food. We ordered a Beet burger*, avocado wrap, orange lime drink and a superhero shake. Everything was super fresh and tasty. A clean meal. Oh and those kale chips were awesome! I am definitely going back.

Yummy vegan treats and smoothies. I came here 6 years ago whilst visiting the island and never forgot! Happy to visit again and stock up on treats for my trip!

I stopped in at Rawthentic for the first time after bicycling from Parksville. I ordered the Buffalo bill burger. Not only was it delicious and nutritious, but the customer service was exceptional. All staff were working as fast and diligently as they could, maintaining quality while moving customers. Even though I felt I had only been waiting a few minutes, I was given a free peanut butter delight as a courtesy for the wait. I enjoyed my meal so much that I decided to come back. I was once again treated with the same level of care. This time the server juggled orders effectively and calmly. Preparing meals quickly and beautifully I got the teriyaki bowl and the sour berry blast. It was absolutely divine. They nailed it with their customer service, quality of food and sustainability. I reccomend to anyone whether they are passing through or residents.

Decent place for your juice and smoothie needs! Feels like an old school, authentic health food cafe. Serves up raw sweets and treats too. Ill be back! Got a green juice this time. Not cheap, but hey its good quality food. Tons of vegan and gluten free options.

Went to get some after-dinner treats tonight, Google and the sign on the door says the hours for Saturday are until 8pm. Arrived at 7:50pm, store is closed, lights off and locked. I knocked and nobody responded. Fix your hours signs to not frustrate potential customers. This is not the first time I have been frustrated by this Rawthentic location. I do not recommend.Edit: I would like to note that I previously left a review for Rawthentic in Victoria, which was not the location that this took place. It was indeed in the location in Courtenay.

Stopped in for a quick juice this afternoon, only to not be greeted at all while standing waiting in line, and watching orders get forgotten on counters and customers being helped all out of order.. I get we all have off days but it takes nothing to say hi be right there... But oh well. Also Super weird they dont have the glory bowl anymore 🤷

Im not a vegan, but when my co-worker came to work with a salad from here I knew I had to try it. Most amazing soup and salad Ive had in a very long time. Its a bit pricey but the taste was vibrant, fresh and on point. Will be returning soon!

Just recently changed up my diet to go vegan, did not realize just how good vegan food could be till I went here. My new favourite spot. Will definitely be seeing me in there several times a week

Great fresh, hot and cold meals, beverages and treats. I got the excellent walnut-sausage bowl and a treat. The next time, I had the Comfort Bowl, which was topped with the daily soup, a thick horseradish flavour. Yum. The mini apple tarts are very good.

The food was reasonable, but there is no washroom available for customers (in contravention of the BC Food Premises Regulation, I might addso my wife had to spend 15 minutes trying at 5 nearby establishments until someone let her use the bathroom.Update: I have modified the original star rating (2 to 3in light of the positive response by the owner shown below. Lack of bathroom is not acceptable but a commitment to resolve the situation is certainly better than nothing.

Ordered on skip the dishes.Ordered a falafel wrap, bread fries with chipotle, and 2x carrot cake.I wasnt aware that the carrot cakes, at $2.50 each, are the size of a toonie but at least a toonie is made from valuable metals. Too small for sure. I also only received one. Way, way, WAY overpriced.The falafel wrap was very dry and 96% lettuce and 4% carrot. Was there any falafel in it? Dont think so....The bready fries are OK and the chipotle dip really good.Absolutely not worth the 20-something dollars I spent. I wouldnt pay again, and it really was not tasty.

The food is healthy and great tasting. A fresh coat of paint and new tables and chairs to replace the sticky mismatched furniture from valu village.... would be my recommendation.

Great raw vegan place. Lots of yummy deserts and savoury food. Reasonable cost and theres parking even tho its downtown. Will definitely keep coming back.

Have been coming here for many years, and it’s usually consistent and delicious. The last time I was there though, was not great. I ordered the warrior wrap (which I know not to be super spicy, as I’ve had it many timesand it was unbearably spicy. It was too late to go back and ask for a refund/exchange. I had to take it home and dismantle it and throw away the spicy bits. I hope next time I come back this won’t be the case.

Delicious!!! Food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Served very quickly by very friendly and professional staff. I enjoyed the experience and when I’m back in the area I’ll make sure to eat there again. Is this a franchise?

I ordered the pesto zucchini noodles from here. When I got home and opened up the container to eat, I was overwhelmed by spinach. I thought maybe the noodles and sauce is at the bottom. I take out all the spinach and get to the bottom, where I was greeted with much more spinach, and only a little bit of sauce and zucchini noodles. I ended up throwing it all away because I didn’t want to eat a container of raw spinach with no sauce.

My gosh, the food here is amazing and so healthy, yummy and reasonably priced! Plus the staff, Ronny, Satvir, Kristina, Carie i have met here so far are so nice and concerned about making sure you have a great experience here! Thanks, I will be coming often!

Juices hit the spot, and the bowls were satisfying and nutritious. I really wanted to try the baked goods as they looked delicious! The staff were all super friendly!

I was in Courtenay for the day, and being Coeliac, its difficult for me to travel and safely find somewhere to eat. The man that served me was super welcoming and informative, though I am remiss that I did not ask his name. While making the thing I ordered, he informed he that they didnt actually have the sauce that normally goes on this dish, and after selecting a new one, he opted to comp me a delicious dessert so my first experience there would not be sullied. I appreciate the friendliness of this man who worked there and that I was able to enjoy the great food I got without worrying at all if it were contaminated! Thank you!

The smoothies are really good. They put really good ingredients in them them like Goji berrys and ginger and coconut milk 😊 Fast and friendly service. The only reason I dont go there all the time is it is a bit pricey.

Went here today for the first time, had a delicious rice bowl. Really great place for healthy, tasty food. The smoothies are great too.

Absolutely delicious food of great quality.Main meals, plus drinks and yummy desert treats.The staff are a bit hit or miss...not always the most friendly or dedicated....seems to have improved lately though.

Where to start. I stood around for over 15 minutes before someone took my order, the sad part was that there was only one other customer ahead of me. I suppose the 3 high school girls working the shop couldnt decide who should be doing what. After 30 mins I was able to get my food and leave. I suggest to go to union street grill and get a burger and salad for roughly the same price.

So far Ive tried three different wraps and liked each one. They were very flavorful. I tried several deserts as well, they were ok. Im an omnivore and enjoyed their food. There are several other items on their menu I want to try.

Good food even if you arent vegan and cute friendly girls behind the counter. Great healthy advise on products and choices! And bright comfortable sitting area as well as outdoor seating for the sunny days!

New place for me and really like the selection of foods offered. Meals are filling and delicious.

Just left the place and was very vey disappointed. The server was extremely rude and the food was ok. I expected to have a warm bowl, not a cold salad. I get it is a raw place, then just call everything salad - not bowl! The sauce was really good but I paid 12 bucks for the zucchini to be cut into spaghetti shape and a bunch of spinach leaves.

Once upon a time, I used to get smoothies here. And macha powder. Then I stopped going for whatever reason. I went back the other day and ordered a salad I remembered liking before only to have the cashier ogle me as if she had no idea a meat eater could look so good.

Stopped for a healthy smoothy ... what a find! A little out of the way, but worth the drive. Very healthy and diverse menu ... beats a trip to some fast food joint ... eat here!

I love that Rawthentic is one of the only places in town I can go to knowing that everything on their menu is something I can eat. Tired of trying to find vegetarian/vegan options at fast food places. Rawthentic is fast and delicious. The people working there are very nice and I even got a little bit of a sample from one of the ladies one time of a drink I never would have considered and it is now one of my favorites. Today my daughter dropped her smoothie and the woman who cleaned up after her was so polite. This restraunt is well worth the prices for quality, healthy, and fast food and incredible service. And to be quite honest, the prices are pretty reasonable. the cost to make it at home would be equal if not greater. I would give them even more stars if it was possible.

Absolutely superb. This is the very first restaurant that can fake flavours using totally high-end nutritious ingredients. Your ceasar salad is awesome, and your noodle dishes are mouth watering.

Walked into this place looking to try something different. Greeted by the staff with high energy and smiling faces. I dont normally eat this type of food but thought i would venture out on this occasion. The shakes taste awesome and full of flavor!Definitely will have to go back and try something else new.Thank you for the great experience!
