Ravintola Roka Street Bistro - Bistro in Rovaniemi, Finland
If youre a tourist that is hesitant to try reindeer... Start with the reindeer sandwich here. It is amazing and will give you a sense of reindeer flavor. Risotto was also outstanding.
The food is excellent and the service is great!
Tasty food! Nice and cozy bistro, not crowded as other touristic places! Great selection of beers, options for vegetarians and dogs are welcome. I really suggest the Chantarelle creamy risotto, fried veg pie and the veggie sandwich
Great food and attentive service are to be pointed out. We didnt like the loud music though.
What a surprise, we have visited Rovaniemi returning from our road trip to Nordkapp, this was the first restaurant serving local dishes, everything was perfect. We choose a plate with flavors from the North and a salmon soup, they were both great. If I have a chance to come back to Rovaniemi Ill go again there for sure. The prices are very good for what you eat and the staff is great.
Select menu of seafood, appetizers, sandwiches. Prepared to order. Highly recommend ginger salmon and Finnish starter plate. Yummy risotto. Nice assortment of sandwiches, although excessive bread overpowered the cold smoked salmon - which seemed too chilled and lost some of its flavor. Nice presentation of pike fillet. Seating for only 18-20. No late hours and kitchen closes shortly after 8.
Wonderful food for quite cheap! I got the reindeer sandwich and my boyfriend got the pork&chips, both for around 12€ and tasted great. Portions were generous and it was a full meal.
Before I forget to rate this joint on the arctic circle, the memory of their food is still fresh on my mind and taste buds. I ate there about a week ago. Wonderful!!! I had the Reindeer filets and on another occasion the cream salmon soup. The Reindeer filets was a novelty dish for me, but it was wonderful. The fish soup? OMG! I then traveled to Helsinki and Tallinn for the same soup on their menu. Disappointing.
Sandwiches were pretty average, brussel sprouts were pretty good though! This is the smaller one of the Rokas in Rovaniemi, I prefer the bigger one - it has more vegetarian options.Lovely service in both though
Visited in late November and we were lucky to be able to eat here as we just arrived in Rovaniemi then and did not manage to make reservation in advance. We shared roasted brussel sprouts, salmon risotto and pan seared pork belly. All three were absolutely amazing. Thank you!
Great restaurant, nice and cosy. Food is delicious. Its a small place so it is necessary to book in advance. The staff is really nice. A place to taste in Rovaniemi.
First time having reindeer. Was beautiful. Lovely service. Lovely wine. Will come back for lunch
Our first visit to Finland and this was the first place to have a meal and we are more then impressed. The food is amazing and the portions are great. Great value for money. Tasty!Just make sure you make a reservation as it’s always packed. Highly recommended
Lovely bistro in Rovaniemi. The service was good and the lady was really nice. Food was amazing, we had a platter to share for 2 + 1 tuna sandwich it was really good, the portions were big enough. I will come back to taste something else before the end of my stay :)
Came here 2 days in a row because its so good! The lady that worked here and helped us is also really nice.
The reindeer and the salmon soup were absolutely perfect. The atmosphere is very chill and inviting. However, I recommend you stick to the Scandinavian dishes. The fries and mayo we ordered were way too greasy and overdone.
Very tasty Lappish food. The reindeer fillet was cooked to perfection. Great flavor
Excellent food. Everything we had was delicious. So good we ordered the same dishes the next day. The restaurant is cozy, almost small... so reservations are necessary for dine in, especially for large groups.
Gorgeous service and cosy little place. We had 1 reindeer and 1 beef burger, both drenched in sauces, which were yummy but completely overpowered the meat tastes, unfortunately. Chips were also oversalted. Overall, probably in line with local tastes and definitely fine, but I still dont know what reindeer tastes like 😅 The salmon soup of our neighbours looked great. Will still give this another go and try something else, because the cafe is adorable.
One of the best Bistros in Rovaniemi, try there local dishes & drink And Street Food .
We got the salmon soup, pork and chips, reinwich. Everything tasted amazing, service was terrific too!
Very nice place, good service and good product ! I recommend;)
Good quality street food restaurant. Their sandwiches (sänkäritare great: good choice of ingredients, all of good quality. Also available is the bistro menu, with some selection of plates. Nice also to have the option to order some less usual sides such as roasted Brussels sprouts. All in all, recommended!
LOVED the chocolate cake. The reindeer sandwich was fun.
Very nice restaurant. But tiny locale, book ahead if you plan to visit. The starter, Tastes of the north, was a nice mix with good flavours. And the salmon soup as a main tasted great. Good portion sizes so couldnt fit any desert.
Good service and tasty food! We can recommend the starter and food wasn’t too pricey. If my salmon sandwich (main dishhadn’t been “fridge cold”, they would have received a five.
Cozy restaurant, they serve a really tasty food. Friendly staff and fast service. Not expensive at all.
Good food at a decent price. Service is excellent. Table by the window allows so nice people watching in a small town. The Reindeer Sandwich is quite nice and different from other options on the menu.
Awesome place! We were there for lunch and got surprised with the quality of the food and prices. I highly recommend the Fish & Chips and the Porc & Chips, the plates are well served for an adult and the food is very tasty. The prices are very good with some options starting from 10.50 (main course).
Tried one of their filled sandwiches (reminded me of Dönerwith sautéed reindeer. It was a pleasant experience and didn’t leave me hungry. Flavors were great, the filling was basically the traditional sautéed reindeer dish just without mashed potatoes but the sandwich was slightly too soggy for my preference. This was probably caused by the meat broth from the reindeer. On the side I had some Brussel sprouts which were fried and salted very nicely. To help downing the sandwich and the Brussel sprouts I ordered a dark lager from the local Lapin panimo brewery. The beer wasn’t anything special but it’s always worth trying out local beers when traveling.Service was really friendly! A small minus for really packed seating during corona times because you never know.
Lovely dinner in a cosy, local bistro in Rovaniemi. Food was amazing, especially the warm, soft Finnish archipelago bread. Salmon soup was creamy and flavorful- the broth was made from salmons caught by the chef. In total, we ordered a Taste of the North platters for two, one big salmon soup and one pork and chips. Very generous amount of food, we were very full afterwards, so I recommend two people share one set of the platter. Might be due to the current situation, but we were the only one at the restaurant, later there were more customers, but it wasn’t crowded at all. Recommend! 👍🏻
We had two hours to kill, and we decided to try one of the top ranked restaurants in the city. We were lucky as they had two available tables for us just as we walked in. We asked the waiter to recommend dishes for us, and she picked four dishes from the street food menu and salmon soup. The street food was great, not something that I never tasted. The salmon soup was fantastic, very unique. Also, we were very happy with the free coffee and tea that was included in the price.
Nice little place with a very homely feeling. Had a carrot risotto from the lunch menu which was surprisingly tasty. The staff was friendly, patient, and pointed out the option of having the lunch menu even when that meant earning less money.
We are here right now, weve just finished our food. We came here due to the reviews and we were expecting good service, but we were appalled to be stuffed into a four seater table when we made reservations for five. There were plenty of seats available still, all the way till we were almost done with our food. Weve had better service from other restaurants in the area so this to us, is a turn off.In terms of food, the pork and chips and the mushroom risotto taste the best. Me and my dad liked the beef tender. The salmon sandwich had too much mayo and the lemon ginger risotto was not to our liking.Overall its a recommended restaurant for the food but make sure you come in even numbers.
Wonderful service. The pork burger was incredible. The salad with smoked salmon was delicious. Everything was really well done. Very happy with the meal. Id suggest making reservations its a smaller restaurant.
Food is yummy and I had my first reindeer meat here!
The place is cozy and relaxing. Food is super nice. I chose Salmon soup and pork with chips! Yum yum !!! And the staff is helpful and cheerful too! She instantly shared me the Wi-Fi info as she saw me searching the WiFi connection on phone. Recommend for everyone who coming to Rovaniemi or nearby. 👍🏻
I dont usually give good review. What can I say about Finnish? Theyre never finished. Theyre friendly, helpful & cheerful people with a lot to offer. Roka is a small bistro with very enjoyable environment. Good people and excellent food. Must try their Pork & Chips & Roka Special Wich .👍👍👍
We visited Roka 3 times during our stay (lunch and dinner). The place is cozy and food is great, make sure to book a table for evening. I loved their salmon soup and archipelaga bread was amazing! The chocolate cake and finnish appetizers were also super tasty. We also tried 3 different sandwiches, and we were a bit disappointed. To much mayo based souce and a bit missing the flavour (salmon and pork). The reindeer one was good. I would highly recommend but rather for their normal menu options.
Cozy and overall nice experience with nice staff. Lemon risotto with salmon was particularly nice and apparently the most popular dish. Beer selection could be better. Book a table.
Roka is a cool restaurant in Rovaniemi. You have to order your food by the counter and then it will be served at your table. I ordered Pork and chip. It was big portion of pork servrd with salad and chips. Pork was so perfect well cooked. It was not expensive at all.
Good reviews from Google Maps led us here for a nice NYEs dinner to end off 2018. Definitely live up to the expectations, bonus was the brusselsprouts that turned out to be amazing for just a side dish. Their Pork and Chips also surprisingly great. Love it all! And the staff were very friendly and helpful!
Very good! The food is amazing and not too expensive. Service is great.
While visiting from Southern California, we ate at Roka. I had the Arctic Char. It was AMAZING! Everything was cooked perfectly. The arctic char was moist with a nice crispy skin.
Good and tasty food. I had the risotto of the day which was a carrot and parmigiana risotto. Bread and coffee or tea was included for 10€. The food is worth every euro but personally I would like some more bread or salad with the meal. The staff was very helpful and an excellent English speaker.
Went for something small to eat but surprisingly I was completely full after the meal. Have to say that I loved the place! But it is best you reserve a place in a touristic season because otherwise there is a chance you wont have a place. It is a place to recommend and is located in the centre.
Great food, good wine and beer. Small restaurant in the heart on the Capital of Lapland. You should try it out. It might be a good idea to reserve a table, becuse the place is not too big!
Good atmosphire, and friendly servies. The salmon soup was nice but the raindeer sandwich was dissapointing...is was half cold with to much mayo sauce. The bread couldnt hold the feeling and fell apart easily. The chocalat dessert was small, not good snd not worth 7 euros.
Great hospitality - free tea/coffee with lunch and friendly staff. Good food (mostly sandwiches and salads but offer a few other optionsand generous portions. Great way to warm up when exploring Rovaniemi!
Beef steak tastes good and the sandwich is good. The most impressive was the appetizers, flavor from the north. Salted salmon, reindeer sausage, traditional Finnish bread, mushroom salad and small fishes.
