the place now is much more managed and beautiful. inside the park its really greenery, you can sit here for hours of talk, u might be disturb by the sound of vehicles as it lies in the middle of the streets.

Well maintained and nice place to take a break from all the hussle and bustle of the ratna park area. Although I have no complaint regarding the place, I would suggest the management board of this park to get and provide a locker service for the visitors which inturn would retain dwellers to spend more time thereby utilizing the motive of this park fully. Plus putting more charging points around the benches might be helpful too.A big thank you for such a good maintenance to the employees and management board/committee

The old name of this park is Ratnapark Park. Which is now called ShankhaDhar Park. This park is located between Bhirkuti Mandap, Bagbazar Bridge, Army Hospital, Electricity Authority and Ramipokhri.Nowadays this park is maintained in a great way. In this park you can make video TikTok, capture Photo, morning and evening Walk and sit or gossip comfortably with your family.

Loved the place. A silent peaceful park between busy streets. I definitely recommend people around to go there for a hangout.

Good park for time spend with friends..its beautiful view of ranipokhari as well as ratnapark..its near by is ratnapark, ghantaghar,pokhari,darbarhigh school..its also good for shopping u will get very affordable price of the stuff. I is beautiful garden with beautiful flowers inside it. Full of greenery. The ticket price is average.the ticket counter is close after 6pm. U will see lots of tiktoker shooting inside it😆🥰🥰.. yeah its beautiful park. Go with family, friends etc and get some refreshment from crowded city..near by ratnapark bus stop so u easily access the bus. I think its located in the center of ktm. Lot of shop there which are offering cheaper rate than other place but u must know bargaining..

It gives a little bit fresh air and nature experiences of Kathmandu people! But it should allow some of food and beverages to visitores and have to manage not to be dirty as well!

The ticket of the park is Rs.25 for Nepalese. It has free WiFi and provides space for people who is searching for greenery and peace . It provides toilet also . I got submerge in that park .

The Park was built at the investment of Rs 20 million of Kathmandu Metropolis and Rs 40 million of Madhyapur Thimi municipality under the Town-Town Collaboration Programme. On the occasion of Shankhadhar Day, Kathmandu metropolis mayor Bidya Sundhar Shakya inaugurated the park amidst a programme on Sunday. He shared the metropolis has been providing support to 12 municipalities of the Valley for the construction of religious and tourism parks as well as the multi-purpose parks. Kathmandu metropolis is the oldest and the most resourceful cultural town. It also has the obligation to help adjoining municipalities in their bid to construct public places. Construction of Sankhadhar Park was a manifestation of town-town collaboration, mayor Shakya added. Also speaking on the occasion, Madhyapurthimi municipality Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha said, We had approved a master plan with a total budget of Rs 130 million for the park construction. The first phase of its construction has been finalized and remaining portion has been planned for the next tenure, Shrestha said, expressing his confidence that the KIMC would extend further financial support in the upcoming year to complete the backlog of construction works. The park stretched over the area of 13 ropani has water fountain, stone-carved step, hanging garden, stone spout, MP theatre and green garden. According to the master plan, Green Park, children park, traditional hall, statue of Shankhadhar Sakhwa, big conge, rock climbing and rope climbing spots are to be constructed in remaining five ropanis of land. At the programme, Kathmandu metropolis Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha said the metropolitan city has emphatically collaborated for the preservation of culture and heritage.

Taking about shankhadar park, its beautiful place but disadvantage is there lots of noise which irritated while sitting there for a long time. Also there are lots of places to visit like Dharara, Sun Dhara etc. Shankhadar park is aslo known as Ratnapark.

The place is good but crowdy.

It is very good place.we can get clothes,food Mart,momoland, biryani house etc.there is also a very attractive and beautiful dharharhaa(sun dhara)

Cool public park, situated on the bank of Bagmati River. Nice park to hang out in the morning and evening.

It was previously called as RATNAPARK but now Shankhadhar Park. Park is average with some flowers and trees. Slides and swings are also there for kids. Water ATM outside the park was out of order.

Well , I have not really been inside the park. But what I look from outside, its well managed and the management committee has tried their best to keep this clean.

Its a good place to visit for peace. Some couples makes it a bit annoying. If youre single, itd be pretty uncomfortable for you to watch the surrounding and environment.

🌹 शंखधर उद्यान नामाकरणको गरिमा --रत्नपार्क विवादभित्रको यथार्थता 🎁पञ्चायतका प्रणेता राजा महेन्द्रकी कान्छी रानी रत्नको नामबाट ल्याईएको पार्कको नाम रत्नपार्क यस समय चर्चाको विषय बनेको छ। काठमाडौंको टुँडिखेलभित्रको एक भागलाई रत्नपार्क नाम दिएर राजा महेन्द्रले चलाएको रत्नपार्कको वास्तविक नाम तिंख्य अर्थात टुँडिखेल हो ।यही तिंख्य नै पञ्चायत कालमा रत्नपार्क हुंदै हाल तीन वर्षयतादेखि त्यसको नाम शंखधर उद्यान भएको छ । रत्नपार्कमा राष्ट्रिय विभूति शंखधर साख्वाः र पञ्चायतकालमा वामपन्थी मशिहाको रूपमा चर्चित जननेता पदमरत्न तुलाधरको शालिक अनावरण भएसँगै यस ठाउँको नामको विषयमा चर्चा भएको हो ।यश पार्कलाई शंखधर उद्यान बनाईएकोमा एक समूहले विरोध गरेको छ जुन शंखधर उद्यानलाई रत्नपार्क नै कायम गरिनुपर्छ भनिएको छ। यसबाट जाहेर हुन्छ कि यहाँ ठाउँको जायज नाम परिवर्तनमा पनि विरोध हुने गर्दछ ।तर अहिले शंखधर उद्यानलाई स्वीकार नगरी असन्तुष्ट हुने समूहले ३ वटा प्रश्नको उत्तर दिन आवश्यक हुन्छ ।१. के रत्नपार्क नै त्यस ठाउँको मौलिक नाम हो ?२. पूर्व मुमारानीको नामबाट राखिएको रत्नपार्क साँच्चिकै मौलिक नाम नै हो त ?३. काठमाडौं खाल्डोमा फिब्व ख्यःबाट माइतीघर भयो, जाहोला ख्योबाट जावलाखेल, थँबहीबाट ठमेल, कांलाबाट गठ्ठाघर र यस्तै थुप्रै नै । यति धेरै ठाउँको नाम परिवर्तन भईरहँदा तिंख्यःबाट रत्नपार्क बनेको स्थल समयोचित शंखधर उद्यान बन्न पुग्दा मौलिक तिंख्यः भन्दा एकाथरीलाई कथितरूपमा किन दुखेसो हो ?अहिलेको शंखधर उद्यान र बीचको कालखण्डमा रत्नपार्क भनिएको स्थल उहिलेको तिंख्यः नै हो जुन कुरा बुझ्न जरूरी छ। यो ठाउँको नाउँ जनजिब्रोमा झुण्डिनुको मुख्य कारक हो रत्नपार्क बसस्टप । बसका सहचालकले ठाउँहरूका नाम बढी उच्चारण गर्ने हुँदा जनजिब्रोमा झुण्डिन पुगेका थुप्रै उदाहरण छन् । फिब्वख्यःमा राखिएको माइतीघर चलचित्रको पोस्टरको आधारले माइतीघर बनेको उदाहरणदेखि लिएर बबरमहललाई रातोभाले, पुरानो सिनामंगललाई पेप्सिकोला, घलांमोबाट काँडाघारी हुँदै सनसिटी अपार्टमेन्ट आदि ।समाजले नामाकरण गरेको तिंख्यःलाई शक्ति र सत्ताको बलले उहिले रत्नपार्क बनाईएको थियो । अहिलेको शंखधर उद्यान उहिलेको तिंख्यः नै हो भन्ने धेरैलाई थाहा नहुन सक्छ । सहचालकले रत्नपार्कको ब्राण्ड बनाईदिएकोले अहिलेको शंखधर उद्यान उहिलेको तिंख्य हो भन्ने कुरा नयाँ पुस्तालाई थाहा नभएको हो । कुनै पुरानो मौलिक नाउँ असान्दर्भिक परिवर्तन गर्न हुँदैन ।पहिचानसँग सम्बन्धित नाउँ परिवर्तन गरिंदा मौलिकतामा प्रश्नचिन्ह लाग्छ । तर रत्नपार्क आफैंमा मौलिक नाउँ होईन । मौलिकता यथावत राख्ने हो भने तिंख्यः नै बनाईनु पर्दछ भन्ने आवाज बुलन्द हुनुपर्नेमा बीचको कालखण्डमा राखिएको रत्नपार्कको प्रश्न कसरी आउँछ र !अमुक पार्टीका एकाथरी आस्थावानहरूले आधा शताब्दी पुगी नसकेको इतिहासमा चासो देखाउँदा सयौँ वर्षको विरासत बोकेको मौलिक नाउँ परिवर्तन गरिंदा चुईंक्क सम्म किन बोलेनन् त ? रैथानेहरूका अनेक पहिचान पहिले देखि आजसम्म निरन्तर मेटिंदै आईरहँदा ती लेखाजोखा गर्नुको साटो अमुक पार्टीका अन्धभक्तहरूको चेतना गुम्न पुगेकै होला त ? विचारणीय छ।राजनीतिक दलको प्रतिनिधित्त्व गर्ने अधिकांश नेता तथा रैथाने बासिन्दाले तिंख्यःको भागलाई हाल राष्ट्रकै विभूतिको नाउँमा शंखधर उद्यानको गौरवपूर्ण नामाकरण गरेकोमा हार्दिक स्वागत गरेका छन् । तत्कालीन नेपालमा गरिब किसानको ऋण मोचन गर्दै ने.सं.को प्रवर्तन गर्ने महामानवको नाउँमा स्थापित गराईएको शंखधर उद्यानमा सच्चा राष्ट्रभक्तलाई असन्तोष भई दुख्न नपर्ने हो। आम सर्वसाधारणदेखि सामाजिक अभियन्ताहरूलाई पनि शंखधर उद्यान नै सहर्ष स्वीकार्य छ। त्यसैले पनि काठमाडौं महानगरले शंखधर उद्यानमा राष्ट्रिय विभूति शंखधर साख्वाः तथा नागरिक अगुवा पदमरत्नको शालिक अनावरण गर्न जायज ठानेको हो ।हर सकारात्मक परिवर्तनलाई नकारात्मक राजनीतिक मुद्दा बनाउन आवश्यक हुँदैन । राजनीतिक दलले जनताकै मुद्दालाई उठाउनुपर्ने हो । तर रत्नपार्कबाट शंखधर उद्यान बनेको विषयलाई अमुक पार्टीले निहीत स्वार्थको लागि मात्र मामिला बनाई असहमति जनाएकोमा भने दुईमत छैन ।सत्तापक्ष र प्रतिपक्षका अधिकांश नेता, रैथाने, सामाजिक अभियन्ता लगायतले शंखधर उद्यानलाई सगर्व स्वीकार गरिरहँदा अमुक पार्टीको गुनासो जनताप्रति कत्तिको जायज र उत्तरदायी छ भन्ने बुझ्न पनि जरूरी हुन आउँछ । जनतामुखी र जिम्मेवार पार्टीको मामिला यो हुन सक्दैन वा हुनु हुँदैन ।त्यसैले विरोधको नाममा विरोध मात्र गर्ने होईन कि जनताको भावना अनुकूल मुद्दा बनाईनुपर्छ भन्ने नै हो; जसले पार्टीलाई उँभो लगाउनेछ । कुनै वंश र परिवारमा सीमित रहेको मामिला उठाउँदा जनताको भावनामा चोट पर्नु हुँदैन, नागरिकको इच्छा मार्न पनि पाइँदैन । धन्यवाद । ✊१७ मंसीर २०७७

excellent centre place for roming. Almost all people for staying or visiting pass from here. Their is micro bus stand nearby from where all places going buses are available wheather inside or outside of valley. children playing park, couple staying parks are also there. Flyover for crossing roads for people, markets( goods with cheap rate is available)...after reaching kathmandu valley u will get bus from each and every corner of the place..i request all people to visit..Adress: ratna park, kathmandu

Kathmandu is clear and pure/fresh now a days. Probably best time to travel. No pollution, blue skies.

Considering what it was before, I was impressed.Its pretty well maintained however people sleep in chairs so premium spot with shades is bit rare.Too many couples.Entry fee for adult is 25I am guessing theres discount for students.

Ratnapark all over is great. But bus stop is at its worst especially when you travel at night. No enough public vehicle, chaos among people when riding bus, waiting, it sucks sometimes. But for shopping, exploring it is best.

Lots of things has been improved. More clean, green. lots of sitting area. Public restrooms are better than usual other public toilets in Kathmandu. The entrance fee costs Nrs 25 ($ 20 cent).

I dont no why r they charging 25 rupees as entry fee. Nothing interesting inside the park. Mostly tired people visit to rest or young couples to spend time. Maintenance is not upto expectation but remains over crowded most of the times.

It is named after Queen Ratna, the wife of King Mahendra. It was built for the children and is named after Ratna, the second queen of King Mahendra. It is situated between Rani Pokhari and Tudikhel in the heart of Kathmandu.

Its park in cenral area near. Walking distace by durbar marg. Place to spend some time without traffic of roads. Peaceful place for family picnic and hangout walking in nature.

Suitable for refreshments after busy hours. Surrounded by plants and flowers but the management and maintenance is too poor. Water in the pond is dirty and Open place is not properly managed. The park is overcrowded and seems like picnic spots.
