Unter der Egg 2, 6004 Luzern, Switzerland, Luzern
Historic, stone-walled space with a covered terrace for a menu of Swiss food & local beers.
Food was delicious and I believe is very authentic swiss.Nice ambiance on the inside and they serve very tasty biers too.
Food was amazing except they brought diferent and way more expensive food. I ordered a soup and they brought diferent soup. I literally pointed at the menu when I was ordering. Manager wanted me to pay it but then he gave me small discount. Its not my mistake that their staff brought wrong food and manager should have at least apologised...
Eating at that Rathaus Brauerei (twice!during our stay in Lucerne was one of the highlights of our Europe trip this year. Our first visit we got there on the late side after the restaurant was completely packed. Marc, the manager, was extremely helpful and sat us at the bar and quickly found us a table a few minutes later. We enjoyed the house beers, which were fantastic, along with some amazing food. I had the Isenegger farmer`s bratwurst, and my wife had the Rathaus chicken. Both meals were outstanding. Our second visit to Rathaus, Marc again was helpful in securing a reservation for us (again, the restaurant was completely booked that night). Per Marcs recommendation, I had the crispy baked pork knuckle marinated in beer which was the best Ive ever tasted. We cant recommend Rathaus enough. Its a must-visit restaurant for visitors to Lucerne. Big thanks to Marc and the staff for giving us an amazing experience!
It is a great place to enjoy the beautiful scenery and a delicious meal. This was an afternoon snack for us so we had a tasty charcuterie board and beers. Service was very friendly and fast.
Really enjoyed our experience here. Superb table right by the river with lovely views. Attentive, polite staff, lovely food, superb ambience. Best to book in advance, even the night before, to get a table by the river.
Food and beer was good. Our table waiter was also very nice and welcoming. However the head waiter was very irritable and rude. Would give more stars, but the head waiter should be more welcoming to visitors.
Possibly the worst service we have ever experienced in our lives. We had a blonde hostest. She walked by us 3 different occasions and waved her hand at us to leave in disgust. We were so confused because we had 0 clue that we did anything wrong. We still dont know why she was mad at us but her being rude is an understatement. Purposely served us the wrong beverage too. We didnt even say anything because we were so intimidated. I would definitely avoid this place at all costs if she is there.
The food was pretty good, we had the chicken and beer sausages. For dessert we had the beeramisu and the apple strudel with vanillasaus. Both were nice too. Prices are normal for Switzerland. The service from a specific young woman was really good, she was very friendly. The man by the door was rude when we arrived but we didnt have to deal with him after we were seated. We did have to wait a little longer than usual for our desserts, but it was a very busy night. It was very busy so its recommended to reserve a table. You should know that outside is free seating, so reservations are for inside.
Waterside bar/restaurant that brews its own beer. Sat outside, had a couple of drinks and watched the world go by. Nice place to chill out at the end of the day.
Had the herbs chicken with wedges, chicken was very tender and well-marinated wedges were pretty salty, the mushroom cream sauce is very tasty too. It’s situated just by the lake, where you can enjoy the view of the old chapel bridge.Average CHF30/dish which is slightly pricier than other Swiss restaurants but the taste and view justifies it.
We loved the area, the food tasted very delicious, we ordered pretzel with luzern cheese, we liked it and we ordered another one lool. Salad with Italian dressing, trot fish dish.
We came by this restaurant for a quick dinner. Great location, right in front of the famous Chapel Bridge in Lucerne. Great atmosphere with home-made beer and good food. We also notice that the price is reasonable compared with nearby restaurants. We highly recommend the beer and «Ratskellertopf» dish (the one with bone marrow :in the pictures)
I was there last week with my tour group, and I had the worst experience in my life. The waitress who was serving us was really rude and I was discriminated. People of colors should be careful when you walk into the restaurant because they don’t like you. Not Only she was rude but she was making fun of us in front of everybody. I reported it to the manager but she never apologized. I was so upset that I couldn’t even finish my food. Oh by the way the food wasn’t good.
A beautifull place , good dishes , I couldnt eat the pork knee ( served only after 18 , pity .. the others are ok but not espetacular ! Great service but I must say the beer !! 🍺 is OHMYGOD !! Wonderfull!!
We had a great meal after our day-trip to Rigi. The place was fairly populated (as expected during tourist season), but we were in luck and after a short waiting time, a friendly couple offered us their table under the arcade as they were just leaving. Our waiter was very courteous and responsive to our wishes. The salad was delicious, as were our mains and desert. The beer is really good. I had some Naturtrüb and they also offer some seasonal beer, if you want to go for something special.
Bad service. Food is ok but waited for ages to get the bill after we have finished our meal. All the waiters will just walk past. Finally a waitress who walked by. acknowledged but even after clearing the plates, she went to take orders from another table. Will never come again
The beer is fantastic and the sausages were great!
Sat indoors as outdoors was full of smokers.Ordered Beef Marrow Hot Soup which was really nourishing and savory. House Beer was nice too.My wife left behind expensive sunglasses and staff kept it nicely till the next day for us to pickup. Honest and great service. Will come again.
Service was horrible, the waiter immediately asking us what we wanted to drink without letting us look at the menu and the same when ordering our food. Food was horrible when it came out- not what we expected. Ordered a salmon pasta dish (special of the daywaiter failed to mention the salmon was going to be uncooked. I do not recommend at all. Everything about the experience was horrible.
The waiter forgot the beer I ordered and when I reconfirmed my order because no beer was served, she brought me a beer that had been sitting there for a long time. Only foam was added....not cold and lukewarm, which was disappointing.
Best place for a locally crafted Weizenbier on a hot sunny summerday. Great place and fabulous staff! Thank you 😘
Such a beautiful place right on the river! Friendly, kind staff. Beer was tasty! Pretzels were fresh and delicious. Great prices! This is a great place to stop and have a bite! The architecture was beautiful, and they have a large seating area in a shaded place to stay out of sun. Id absolutely recommend this place!
Friendly staff. Efficient service. Good food. Delicious German beers. Tried the chicken and the cheese pie. Enjoyed ourselves. Cheers
Great beer and drinks, wonderful location! Food was delicious as well, we had the half chicken which was amazing and the braised Beef which was good. Plenty of food and great atmosphere! Wonderful staff as well.
Nice view on the river and the bridge, cooler than outside in the sun when the weather is warm. Food is good in quality and quantity. Good service as well
For a break in Lucerne you can go the Rathaus. You get two in one. A brewery/Brauerei and a restaurant. It is affordable. Service is very good and the view over the river is nice. A good place to have a break and discover more from Lucerne
The house beer is delicious, the foods are pretty decent
Ordered wheat soup, half chicken and one beer. Food is really good especially the soup is really nice. Staffs are friendly and nice.
Food was tasty and well priced. They have good sized portions of food and was not too expensive. Servers were kind and the service was quick. Enjoyed our lunch here during our visit to Lucerne. The location is very convenient to the bridge. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful and we loved the decor and atmosphere.
Good service, the food was good too. Try the Grison Barley Broth, it’s REALLY delicious.
Found it to be very good. I would go for the sundae next time vs the strudle. The white sausages with the pretzel were just ok. Not enough flavor for me. The nuremberg sausages with sauerkraut had more flavor.
The atmosphere is cool, and the venue is quiet interesting for a brewery with traditional brewing systems. I really recommend to visit. The craft beer is nice and soft, however I have tried before better ones since I’m craft beer lover . However really recommend to try this place, and especially try their roasted chicken
Perfectly located by the Chapel Bridge....overlooking the Reuss River. Great Food and ofcourse their own draft beer !! Had to visit twice!! A must visit when youre visiting the Chapel Bridge. Prost !!
Good beer (light and darker), good views of the river and bridges, and pretty good food. Highly recommend the vegetarian spätzle as it has a mix of vegetables with it plus a fried egg on top and those were both unexpected additions.
Wonderful service and delicious, refreshing beer. We had a beef pretzel and a cheese pretzel, which came with a lovely little salad of radish, mustard cress, gherkin and lettuce. Our waitress spoke excellent English which was easier than me stumbling through German. We tried the Rathaus Naturtrüb first, which is a really enjoyable drink, a cloudy lemon looking beer, maybe a cross between a white beer and a wheat beer. Then the specialität, being summer this was a wheat beer, equally delicious and refreshing. Sat right by the river and under a cobbled, covered terrace, this is probably the best way to spend two hours (or more!in Laucerne.
I honestly dont know what I ordered as the main (frankfurter, wiener and bone marrow in brothbut it was amazing! Would definitely order a random dish at this place again.
Friendly staff, location is excellent, beer is great and food is delicious. I had the soup and the homemade spaetzle all of which were so so good!
Wonderful place to sit and enjoy a beer and hearty Swiss German style food by the river. We really enjoyed the beer. Preferred the normal beer over the Weizen personally, but they were both great. The outdoor seating is open, so no reservation for that needed. Meals portions are gigantic!
Brews and views. Went here for an evening beer after sight seeing in the mountains all day. Really wanted a cold beer and pretzel and this place hit the spot. Nice atmosphere and good price.
This is a picture of the Bavarian Weisswurste sausage with pretzel, and it was so delicious, I had it twice. Protip: Go there for breakfast - the same combo includes a coffee and beer. Im a fan of the naturally cloudy beer. And it can get chilly sitting outside, but they provide thick blankets to keep you warm.
We waited for a while but the waitress apologized. The food was great, especially the cordon bleu (which was absolutely, huge!. The cheese was totally melted and delicious. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. They make their own beer and it was nice too. I would recommend eating there.
Not impressed compared to the Swiss food I had in Zurich. The bratwurst was recommended by the waitress, but I think she was just recommending the most expensive. Thought Id give it a try. Meh. The gravy was also meh and the rosti was bland. Not seasoned at all. The half chicken was tasty. Enjoyed the cream sauce quite a bit. The fries were pretty bland as well and came cold. Beer was nice. Service was just ok.
We had a little bit of a wait on the tail end of a lunch hour. They looked a little understaffed at that time. The service was good once we were settled. The standard beer was really good and the food was worth the wait. I would go back to try a few more of the beers.
Solid brewery with very helpful staff and arguably the best food you will find in the city. a great visit for any craft beer lover as well. We had a good time here and theres a lot of history if you spend the time to learn it.
Next pub wasn’t too far to find as it was right next to Mr. Pickwicks, Rathaus Brauerei also on the promenade near the Chapel Bridge.Plenty of seating outside but I went right into the bar, got a seat at the highchair, and ordered one of the Brauerei’s own onsite brews, a Weissbier, not my favourite kind of drink but luckily enough this one was fresh and tasty straight from the tap and tasted so good. Excellent stuff. The place was quite busy, and people were not only drinking but eating from the extensive menu on show. Food served looked good coming hot from the kitchen, but I was happy enough with the nourishment I was getting from the beer, going down well. Had a nice chat with a lovely gentleman who was telling me that there is actually a 70-meter long underground line through the Rathaus to the fermentation and storage cellar in nearby Eisengasse, piping the wort through. Cool. The copper brew pans are also on show behind the bar and restaurant and there are lots of cellars to be seen on your travels to the toilets!!Nice friendly ambience, good efficient service, and a lot of history on show in the old Rathaus. Not surprised to learn the place is a listed building, with the date of the build going back to between 1602 and 1606 in the style of the Italian Renaissance.Read after their sausage’s are to die for. Ah well, missed that, next time so……….
What a surprise stumbling upon this place. My wife and I were looking for a quick bite to eat and ended up staying for awhile. The food is excellent. We ordered a half chicken, some pretzels, and salad and everything was superb. Make sure to get the Rothaus beer. It light, crisp, and refreshing. We also had Vanessa as our waitress and she was an excellent host. Make sure to stop by this if you end up in Luzern
Brewery and restaurant with vaulted ceilings. We went primarily for the beer which was really good. In fact, we went twice. The seasonal winter beer was delicious but pretty strong at 7.5%. This place takes credit cards and is not cash only
Beer is Great!! We came here twice during our trip to Lucerne and were not disappointed one bit!! The beer sausages with the sauerkraut are super yummy. That horseradish mustard is to die for!
This beautiful restaurant/brewery is right next to the Kapellbrücke bridge. We first thought that is a tourist trap but actually was full of locals.Very nice inside; looks like an old winery or stable, good choice of beer and we loved the food. I had a weird white soup which actually was the best thing I eat in Switzerland.Even if the place was very crowded, the waiters were very gentle (they even made the time to answer my questions regarding the history of the placeand super fast. Overall was a very nice local experience and I recommend to give it a try.
The view on the Chapel Bridge is amazing. Great, autentic and very tasty Swiss food. The beer was excellent and the staff was very kind. Good place to go...
