Rani Mahal - Historical landmark in Bhairahawa, Nepal
One of the most popular tourist attractions destination in Palpa district. Its about 13 KM far from Tansen.
Ranimahal: Taj mahal of Nepal. Worth visiting. Road has been gravelled and is nice for ride as family or couple trip. At the river bank you have lodging, camping and overnight facilities. Based on access they do offer rafting. The entrance is Rs.50 per individual. There is police help desk if you have any queries. Recently it offers painting protrait of khadga sumsher and his beloved wife, on whose memory the mahal was built. There is garden and small water pool with fountains on them. You can enjoy the scenic beauty of kaligandaki river, Satuka village and local villages. However still needs to be advocated and many tourist attractions needs to be installed.
Place is surreal, even on the weekends it wasnt crowded. You have an option for camping and food. Youll need to buy a ticket to get inside, there is nothing much to see inside the palace, all the beauty is outside.
A cool place ... wondered how Khadak Shamsher built this that time ...and the view from it is awesome
Peaceful place, best for overnight camping, swimming and shooting.
The place is of historical importance and is known as Taj Mahal of Nepal (a symbol of love). It lies in the bank of Kaligandaki river. At this place, the river flows from South to North direction, also known as Uttargaya, so it is also a piligrimage. It is believed that by bathing or just touching the water can wash all your sins. The sad part is its poor maintenance. The paintings are all damaged by green algae. The beauty of the place would be sharpened if timely paintings are done and the ponds and gardens are cleaned and renovated.
Rani Mahal is a located on the banks of kali gandaki River in palpa district. The palace was constructed by general Khadga Samsher Jung Bahadur Rana in 1893. He made this palace in the rememberance of his late queen. The place is very peace enviroment. There also beach camp near by where you can spend night. There are three routes to reach there. Most common and easy route to there is from Batase Danda.
This place has a historical value, also known as the taj mahal of nepal located beside the river bank it has its own importance. It takes 30 min to reach the spot on bike; you can enjoy the ride as you will pass through villages, waterfalls (on monsoonand forests that will give you a new experience on being on nature. As this place is located at low altitude, during summer its quite hot so would definitely recommend to visit on winter, but depends whether you love hot or cold weather. After reaching the spot you can visit the Mahal by taking ticket that costs some penny. Talking about view, it gives you a unique experience infact at night you can enjoy night view with cool breeze listening the splashes of river. If you are looking for camping, it will surely be a great venue to chill at night as there are hotels with basic facilities for your stay.
Awesome place to visit. Nepals own Tajmahal. The road to the mahal was top notch. It took us just half an hour from batase dada to reach it. Must visit if you are in Tansen area.
The way to reach Rani mahal is hard but when you reach then you will forget everything just a beautiful place to visit and pls if you food lover like me bring your own food from the city.
This is the historic place know as taj mahal of Nepal. This palace was made by king to her queen. This is located at palpa district.
Wonder full place for picnic...River rafting....away from main route...
Its amazing how that king built the Mahal in that time in this place... Like literally go that place and find out..Mahal is attractive but it needs little maintenance from the government side & they should promote it too...You can also see the mahal from hanging bridge...And also u can do rafting in the river... Overall good package fun for the travellers
Love is extraordinary energy, making you do extraordinary things. Ranimahal is one such example of extraordinary love story.Built by Khadga Shamser on the demise of his dear wife Tej Kumari, it signifies pain and love for me. The absence of love and life is such a huge pain felt mostly by all the living beings. Built on the river bank of big Kaligandaki, it signifies eternal love just like the eternal river flow.We can reach the place after the walk of around 2 and half hours. The trail is mostly downhill. We can either follow motorway or some short trails in between motorway (for short trails, we have to constantly ask the locals or follow the map). There is nothing particular inside the building, the building itself is the main attraction along with the Kaligandaki river. There are campsites, common tea houses in the area. The newly built bridge takes us across the river. Its a place of peace, pain and love whichever feeling you feel, you are lucky to feel it.While coming back to Tansen, its all uphill so it takes around 4 hours to get back. Please do not make it late while returning back, as its a jungle trail.
Place to visit... For monumental experience of Nepali Taj Mahal.
Rani Mahal very good place for visit on vocation, I spent there one night with our friends and teacher really good experience overall.
It is built by General Khadga Samsher Rana Western Commander in Chief of Nepal. At Palpa-Gauda in 1892 Khadga Shumshers youngest wife Tej Kumari Devi died, within a year Khadga built a palace in her memory that is named after his wife as Rani Mahal (Queens Palace). People compare it with Taj Mahal and it is in the list of must visit place.
Ranimahal is a great place to hang out.The mahal on the bank of the river is really beautyful. But the management seems really bad. Needs some maintanance to preserve such historical palace.
Good day trip from Tansen. It takes 3h to reach it by walking, mostly downhill. You can either follow the road or take small trail (sometimes harder to find but faster overall, ask locals for directions). You can find shops on the way to resupply on food or water.Once you reach Rani Mahal, you need to pay a 125 rupees ticket to go see the actual building. Theres not much to see inside, but its still a nice place to chill and take pictures.Theres couple of restaurant around to eat and drink. The way back to Tansen is a bit more laborious, the way up is long but gentle (should take you around 3-4h).
A historic palace built by Gen. Khadga Shamsher Rana in memory of his beloved wife Tej Kumari Rana
First time experience ...historical monument but not preserved well 😓😓😓 ...Different activities can be found their such as rafting , camping near river side , the nature view and also the suspension bridge which is quite more upwards😀 ...
Very good place to visit. how they build such a amazing building in so remote location? Bravo to those people. The natural geography is buetifull. But management and mentinance is very poor. Government and local municipality attraction is mostly required.
Nothing much to see inside the mahal but the surrounding of the mahal is just wow..
Heritage place is very nice but need more care n attention...please save our historical place like this
Its really nice place to stay at night and have a candle light dinner. You will get to feel beautiful mountains and river here and you will surely love this place. Special Request for People who lives in Purvanchal side of UP , They must visit Nepal and see its beauty ..
Rani Mahal is often called Taj Mahal of Nepal as it was built by Khadga Shamsher in the memory of his late queen -Tej Kumari in BS1954. It was constructed on a huge rock at the bank of Kaligandaki river hence it is still standing just at the bank untouched by Kaligandaki river. Recent renovation & painting has made it a beautiful tourist attraction site of Palpa. Huge stone steps lead to the palace courtyard where there are two beautifully built water ponds. Huge pillars at front of the palace are attractive; massive walls & viewing platform was calling of repair & painting. Palace premises & building from outside looked impressive but rooms inside were tiny. You may enjoy the scenes of river, mountains & jungles around seen from palace.
Its my first long ride with my friends.I reached there at night around 9 pm and the scene at that time around Rani Mahal was awesome. We clicked a lot of photos and enjoyed surfing there.☺️❣️
Exotic locationIts an engineering marvelLocated at the bank of kaligandaki (where it flows towards north - a rarity)Final leg of the road leading there from Tansen is bit rough though
Its 12 km away from the heart of Tansen, palpa. You can reach there by personal vehicle or hire a local taxi. Its artitecture simply tell us the way it was made for.The lost loved for the queen.
This palace is built after the death of the queen.Great piece of artitecture which was built on 19th century by khagedra Junga Bahadur Rana.
Connectivity issues.. not so good road. It took us almost an 2hrs to arrive from tansen. You can find local bus too. I visited there in 2018. Architecture is beautiful but they should make museum there because rooms are empty and vacant there is nothing more to see than you see in pictures 🌸 anyway we enjoyed and clicked lots of pictures ❤️❤️
The popular known as the Taj Mahal of Nepal. This was built by Khadka Sumsher in memory of his beloved wife Tej Kumari Devi after her death. It took 5 years to complete this amazingly beautiful wonder. But after Khadka Shumsher left Palpa, the palace was not well looked after. So, the building started to rot and decay and some important material were stolen. There are two routes to reach Rani Mahal.
Nice place from outside but not that good inside, this place needs to be renovated ASAP
Experiencing real time moment with night camping along with a friends makes great combo!!
Improve the place. Such a historic place, the Palace itself looks really nice but road is just too unpredictable. The Palace needs a nice paint job as paint around the pillars to the entrance had all faded and looked dirty (see pictures). We could not enter as entry to the Palace was closed since COVID lockdown. But I heard theres nothing inside. Just an empty Palace. Apart from that, road was okay but frequent landslides made it highly unpredictable. We had to walk for 20-30 minutes due to road blockade as a result of landslide. A must visit place while in Palpa but dont expect too much from the visit.
A historic place but road access and palace itself need to be improved.
ranimahal is actually historical place but best part of it is way to ranimahal is so advantures and hard to reach there but once you reach there than it worth.
Beautiful Rani Mahal is situated in palpa district, on the riverbank of kaligandaki river. The place is very serene and calm. These days people also visit this place for a camping trip. Blue rani mahal is now again painted in its original colour, white.
Rani Mahal is a palace of Rana situated on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River in Nepals district of Palpa. General Khadga Samsher Rana JBR built this palace in 1893.Rani Mahal was constructed as the token of love for General Khadga Shumsher Jung Bahadur Ranas beloved late wife Tej Kumari Devi.
Amazing and historical place, ambition is on another level. Its a journey to reach this placeGenuine, show our culture, traditional and what or how we were in those times. Its was my honer to visit this place. Especially for newly couples. Recommended to visit. And the river, show its natural beauty.
Monument of love, in Nepali style. Kaligandaki river flows with love from this turn, Ranimahal narrates it all. Must be place to access the effort of past generation to institutionalize their love. Redefine your heart and its capacity to love by being here. Dedicated to all kings and queens of love, for love, cheers !
It is known as the Taj Mahal of Nepal. It is very beautiful place and it is quite amazing place to go for treaking 😍
A beautiful historical palace situated on the banks of Kali Gandaki river. It is considered as the "Taj Mahal of Nepal".This palace was constructed by General Khadga Samsher Rana JBR in 1893.It takes around one hour to reach here from Tansen Bazar in Palpa.
The Rani Mahal is in Palpa know” Ranighat” . Palace, is often referred to as the “Taj Mahal of Nepal” . This palace is built along the Kali Gandaki River in the Palpa District of Nepal. At the time it was built in 1893. Now, it’s becoming a tourist destination for those who want to witness loves bounds.Rani Mahal translates to “queen’s palace” and was built by the General of Palpa, Khadga Shumsher. He had more than one wife, but his youngest and favorite wife was named Tej Kumari. Her last wish before she passed was to have a Durbar built in her memory. Thus began the creation of the Rani Mahal. The government has taken on the task of restoring the palace to its original glory. Currently, the outside is back to a wonderful condition. It is located in very beautiful and peace environment. It’s free entry to Rani Mahal for all tourist.
Awesome place to be. One of the historical place and a sign of love. You usually reach there via Tansen, Palpa. It is 15KM away from Kailash Nagar palpa. All the road from Palpa is good except 3/4 KM at the end when you are about to reach there. You really feel cool and peace once you are there. Night camp fire is also available though not luxury standard hotels are available. Actual fun is camping at night and sleeping inside the tent. Must be there once in a life time.
it gives the history of the king khadga samsher and queen who built this palace as promised before the queen died. location-wise this place is on the bank of kaligandaki river and the road is really challenging. the distance from tansen (palpais around 17 kilometers to the north. if you are traveling on bike and you are not experienced in off roading then i suggest to be mentally prepared before riding your bikes to your destination as the roads are slippery and dangerous. the palace is not that great itself too. no furniture or items that gives the view of history except for the empty building. however you can see the ancient wood that was used to built this palace. its suitable for picinc spot as well. if you love historic architecture and adventure it can be your destination
Nepals very own version of Taj Mahal, the mahal built by Khadga Samsher to Tej Kumari. Around 12 kms from Kailashnagar (Batase Dada), road is pitched and in good condition for the first 5 kms then the real fun begins. Be careful while navigating around the sloppy and slippery road.Mahal looks great from outside but is totally empty. There is no any information or the hint of history anywhere inside the Mahal. View of Rani Mahal is amazing from the nearby suspension bridge which connects Palpa to Syangja. Local eateries serve nice food. Try Bhatta Saadheko, they are amazing. No cost to enter and parking is absolutely free but please be careful while swimming in the Kaligandaki.
The Wonder of Love; Rani Mahal – PalpaAlso known as the Taj Mahal of Nepal, Rani Mahal was built as the symbol of love for the beloved late wife of General Khadga Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana. The palace was built in the 19th century at the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, between Syangja and Palpa. Situated at the distance of 13 km from Tansen, the palace looks attractive sitting on a massive rock at a secluded and a quiet place. In the year 1887, General Khadga SJB Rana was forced to give up his royal title and was sent to Palpa as the western commander in chief of Nepal. In the year 1992, Khadga Shumsher went through an unexpected tremor of losing his youngest wife Tej Kumari Devi. Saddened by the incident he called upon the architects from abroad to make a piece of art in the name of his beautiful wife. Thus the Rani Mahal (Queen’s Palacecame into existence. The palace took five years to complete as every piece of the architecture was detailed. There are a dozen of rooms, beautiful ponds, a temple, wonderful garden surrounding the area, guest rooms, a kitchen etc. in the palace. Since the palace was built on the edge of the jungle, the jungle was also named as Rani Ban (queen’s jungleand the stairs leading to the river as Rani Ghat. The river also possesses a religious importance as it is believed that touching the water of the river provides salvation to any sinners.Away from the hustle and bustle of the Tansen Bazaar, sitting on the riverbank with the most elegant color, a neo-classic art and architecture lies the eye catching palace where every details project the ounce of love. The forests, the ponds, the stair cases and the river banks, everything embodies the affection of Khadga Shumsher towards his late wife. Rani Mahal looks magical, it is a jewel of Palpa and a true epitome of love. Thus next time you visit Palpa, do not forget to hike down from Tansen towards the bank of Kaligandaki to witness this untouched beauty resting peacefully on the lap of a forest symbolizing love and devotion.
Visited there on my bike at the end of rainy season. It was raining occasionally and the off road was slippery. Bike got stucked in many places, slipped at a place but nothing happened. Came back alive and tired that day. A memorable day of my life!
Prepare well before trip, better to have your own bike. You wont find many hotels here so prepare for food and drinks 😇Best for camping there with camp fire 🔥
