The museum located Bhavartal garden near of bus stand. This historical city is well connected with big cities like Delhi, Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur, Nagpur, Sagar, etc. by road as well as rail route. Jabalpur region has very rich historical background since time immemorial. The minor rock edict, Rupanath of Ashoka is located in this region. After Mauryas this region was ruled by the Sunga, Satavahana, Kushana, Sakas. The Satavahana stone inscription of Shivghosh, contain information of Ashwamedh Yagya procured from Baghora and Kushana inscription on Yakshi image, are the important source of regional history of Jabalpur region. Copper plates of Buddha Gupta & Jaya Natha are important source of Gupta period. DahalaMandala was the capital of Kalchuris of Tripuri who rules in this region for abput 500 years. Later on Sangram Saha, Dalpati Saha and Rani Durgawati were the brave rulers of Gaund dynasty. Jabalpur was said to have been Jauli-Pattal or Jabalipattan during Kalchuri period. During this period temples, mathas, and sculptures were erected with great magnitude. Among these art centres of Bilhari, Karitalai, Tigwan, Tewar, and Bheraghat are most noteworthy
It showcases beautiful stone sculptures excavated from the central region of India, mostly from 10th and 11th century, coin collection from various eras and glimpses of tribal life of the region. It also presents some of the stories about the life and kingdom of Rani Durgavati. Art and history enthusiast can pay a visit. The entry fee is Rs 20.
Details of our ancient times with very good supporting staff
The museum is really neat and clean, is well maintained but the gardens there need to be looked after. There is a kala vatika where various art events are organised such as painting exhibition, book fare, singing and more. I find this very helpful and essential for the growth of Art in the culture. Would suggest everyone to go there. There is a fees for the visit in museum but entry in exhibitions are free.
A museum showcasing history of Rani Durgavati along with objects found in excavation in and around Jabalpur.
Rani Durgawati Museum of Jabalpur is located near Russell Chowk. Its named after famous queen Rani Durgawati who ruled after death of her husband and fought bravely against Mughals. But the museum has hardly anything related to the Rani herself except a few sketches. The museum displays 64 yogini sculptures, description of coins and tribal art. Around one hour visit is sufficient. The premises is clean and maintained, employees are soft spoken and supportive.
Nice Museum...Very nice crafted sculpture of ancient era...
Its a amazing historic memorable place.
Memories captured of our beautiful tribes and Rani Durgawati ji
Must visit they very ancient collection of monuments of indian culture and history
This musium campus also includes an Art Gallery, called - Dr. Hiralal Kala Vithika. This is a nice hall for Art Exhibition, and other solo or group performance related to art and culture. You can visit there if any Show or exhibition is going on for free. And you want to book for your own show you can do.
Not Professionally Maintained Museum. Staff with Poor Hospitality Manners. These are some of the reasons, barring very Few Museums in pur Country, discourage Youngsters appreciate the importance of Museums and related field of studies.
Quite a good collection I would say considering the fact that its not a renowned museum
Its a best place in the center of city where you can see old sculptures and history of near by jabalpur and madhya pradesh.
We went to the museum on 12.02.22. There was no ticket for children for adults ticket was Rs 20 . There was good picture description about Rani durgavati .It was very informative. Then we saw many old artifacts and story of coins, inscriptions etc. Also we saw many statues of lord vishnu. Nice place to take children . 2 hours enough for completing entire museum .Go and finish your trip Enjoy 😉 😘 😊
Rani Durgawati Museum is a museum in Jabalpur city in Madhya Pradesh state of India. It was established in 1976. It houses a fine collection of sculpturesThe statues from nearby places of Jabalpur have been displayed with description. We had a chance to see old inscriptions and coins of those times. On the whole neatly maintained museum. It took me around two hours to learn about past history and the way ancient people lived their life The Rani Durgavati Museum is named after the brave queen of Jabalpur who defended her motherland and preferred to die rather than be held captive by the enemy. This museum is well stocked with many 10th to 12th century AD artifacts. It is spread over two floors and has a good display of statues, idols of Hindu and Jain gods, artifacts and antique coins. The building has well maintained lawns and is adorned with a fine sculpture of a wild boar at the entrance. It is one of the main attractions in Jabalpur and well worth a visit. It has a nominal entrance feeEntrance fees of that museum is 20rs that most beautiful place
Good place to visit. Donot confuse the same with the museum in the Rani Durgamati Universitys Archeological/ history department Museum. Google maps may show University Museum. Experience speaking.
Museum depicts the life of Queen Durgavati and her valour against British Empire during the First War of Independence - 1857.It also has various Artifacts of regional importance.Adult - ₹20Timing - 10 to 05
Good source of ancient history. Coin collection is fabulous, but maintanence of old monuments is not well enough. There should be improvement.
Rani Durgavati Museum is one of the major tourist attractions in the city. It was established in 1964 in memory of the valiant Gond queen Rani Durgavati, who sacrificed her life fighting for her mother land. It is a two storied structure that stands majestically in the middle of the city.As you enter the premises of the museum, you will find a number of rare statues kept in the open, each with all the necessary information. These statues are very beautifully sculptured and make excellent photographs. One of the masterpieces is the sculpture of wild boar at the entrance of the building. On the ground floor there are many ancient statues of Hindu and Jain Gods ranging from 3rd century to 18th century. They are kept in showcases and each contains information about it. A collection of rare coins ranging from 2nd BC to 1600 BC keeps you glued to the place.
they should provide a guide then it will be a wonderful experience otherwise its great
One of nicely maintained and must visiting place in jabalpur. It will take you in ancient time and will acquainted you to history of MP and specifically history of local aboriginal or Adiwasi people in this region.

IT is very nice Historical place, 11V Shatabadi architecture example
Good for people who like visiting historical places. The entry fee for Indian nationals is rs20. The art in stone murals is worth watching. Photography is prohibited and you need to pay more for it.
Very informative and exhaustive about the archeological treasures of this region, there are endless number of excavated exhibits one has to spend one or two days to complete the viewing of the entire museum. The staff are just making friendly rounds of the museum without disturbing the attention of the visitor or the peace of the place just to ensure the security of the exhibits from the occasional vandals, they also give helpful guidance when required.
Nice place for historical outing.Various coins from Mauryan to British time are placed .. a tribal culture gallery is there in 1sf floor, sculpture of 64 yoginis are there. 20kg weight copper plate of kalchuri kings are there ... Various sculptures of hindu and jain gods and goddesses are there...If you are a history enthusiast then you should go there. It will take 30min.to 1.5 hours (for history lovers). It will cost just 10 rupees.
Well preserved, and adequate description provided for all the artifacts & collection.Only sad thing is that the library here is not functioning anymore since the librarian retired and no replacement has been allotted, it would be a treasure to read and understand history through documented facts.Must visit for people interested in history going more than 3500 years back.
Its a wonderful place to visit & view historical monuments, & there small concert hall also
Most of the museum is filled with the ancient sculptures. Sculptures of God and Goddess are prominent. It also has intresting coin collection dating back to many thousands of years to last few centuries. It also has a tribal museum in which many tribal people related things are present.Overall good museum if you like sculptures and tribal stuffs.
Its actually a local museum. Nothing that special. A small one. And there is no history related to Rani Durgavati. Just used her name. Some small relics, inscriptions, some historic coins and photographs of Chausath Yogini Temple are the overall contents of the Place.
Museum is very nice also the idols that keep here are charming.. It also have sculpture garden. Sculpture of God,goddesses, apsara, etc are eye catching. Coin collection section in museum is nice. It also have culture preservation section. I can say that it is one of best place to spent time in jabalpur. If you are nearer to jabalpur Railway Station and have 2 or 3 hours then it is a one of a place where you can spent your time.
Theres not much to see. The scriptures are quite old and antique though. Artifacts are not well maintained. Explanations are not given properly. The paintings are really amazing.
Must visit.it provide details about katni and jabalpur sculpture details realted to kalchuri dynasty and much more.
Small museum. But nice. You may include this place in jabalpur tour.
This is an amazing place! Well kept, lots of parking. The museum is divided in Shiv, Vaishnav, Mahavir , tribal and few more sections. Great history and fossils dating back to 3500 year. Original devnagari scripts engraved in stones, dating back to kaurav dynasty. Its a visual treat to look at the scripts, and imagine the technique and skill of those ancient times. Nothing less spectacular than the Greeks. The stone carved deities are a treat to eyes and spirit. Sadly all of them bare signs of mughal rampage and plunder. Depicting how our Bharat has survived the ill wills of foreign plunderers. One star less for lack of literature and proper chronological setup. It would have been great if learned and passionate staff was available arround. Only gatekeepers were arround. Proper security against theft is required strongly. Adding few pictures do visit, its is one of the most understated places. The management committee badly needs some really dedicated and passionate curator for this fantastic place.
Many old murti in this place of rani durgavati and nice garden inside and 20 ripped ticket to see this place
Very nice place visit if u are in Jabalpur ,coin collection was very nice and well explained , godi tribes exhibition was very informative and nice presented by modelling nd images.i think this museum need people who can take care of its valuables it was organised but dusty
Rani Durgavati Museum.Rani Durgavati Museum is a very well maintained museum located in Napier town in Jabalpur. The museum has mainly ancient sculptures and statues which have been found in nearby sites. There is also a very good coin collection to see here.
Great place to know about the history of jabalpur. A painting which made by M. F. Hussain and from 2nd Ct. To 15 Ct. sculptures are there. Also very rarest coin collection from Mugals, Marthas and Britishs are there. Get the better knowledge about Rani Dirgavati and her history with know about gond culture and their tradition.
As per the information received from internet the timings were from 10:00 am to 6:00pm but they close the museum at 5:00 pm. The external campus is open but entry inside the museum is restricted after 5:00pm. There are entry tickets of Rs20 for an Indian Adult. This is located close to teen Patti bus stop and next to St.Noberts School & church. This museum has 2 floors. It is in Napier Town.
The place is a worth visit. The entry fee is just 20 for Indian visiters. Inside the museum there is a great collection of sculptures which were found in and nearby jabalpur. There is also a varied collection of coins from the 10th century BC to present. The jewellery of ancient people and dress of the queen can also be seen there.
Good museum somehow. Status full with dust , it seems very hot.
Good collection of historical sculptures (1 century AD to 11th Century), entry fee is very less (Indian citizen-10 ₹, photography-50₹). Opens from Tuesday to Sunday (Monday and public holidays off).
Good Museum..Having 64 Yogini, Gondwana dynasty, Shiva rupas etc sculptures. Good coin collection as well. Good to visit.
This museum has a lot of stone statues and sculptures from the middle and eastern UP area of India. However, the statues require more care and preservation. They have beautifully laid some of them outside the building in a garden, but the garden needs to be beautified and the statues should be placed inside a glass box from getting bad. The interior of the museum should also be redesigned because right now it just looks like it is hosted in a school or a hostel building. The showcase showing the life and history of Gonds is a good one.
