Wow, what an interesting sight to see of painted and arranged repurposed items. If you decide to visit here, you HAVE TO speak to Randy (the creatorand his story behind his art. It gives you a proper perspective and understanding behind his work and vision.Things you should know:I. PARKINGThis house and garden is within a neighborhood. So thats right, that means neighborhood street parking only. Good luck paralleling.II. SERVICEAdmission into the garden is FREE. Talk to Randy if hes there, you wont regret it.III. QUALITYSubjective, like any and all art.IV. CAPACITYTheres a steady flow of people coming and going.

Strange little staple of the Pittsburgh area. It seems to have seen better days though as a lot of the "art" is faded and old. The back yard is a junk yard of sorts with nothing of real interest. Parking is also slim to nill around the area. At least its free to see!

I took my 3 yr old grandson. He was fascinated with all the things and bright colors. A lot of the toys are broken, and the worst should be thrown out. Otherwise, we spent a happy two hours there while he discovered things.

Art work, crafty decor and words of wisdom adorn the outside of this interesting building. If you get a chance to hear Randys life philosophy or speak with him, he is an interesting pillar of his north side community.

I love love love this concept! I didnt get to meet Randy which I heard was a special treat but an art garden nestled in the concrete jungle is an escape every city needs. The bright colors brings joy to eyes from blocks away and the more you look closely the more youll find. Its free but of course donations are highly recommended and theres a store to buy some unique souvenirs.I think my favorite part was lower level with the sand and kids toys. Pure nostalgia and being a backpacker I enjoyed all the travel signs to different cities/places around the world.Street parking is available and wasnt to hard to find a spot. Highly recommend if you have 10 minutes to spare.

Randyland brings sunshine to Pittsburgh even on the dreariest days. its small house come museum, full of bright colors. Its been bringing smiles to visitors faces since 1995 when Gilson originally bought the building using funds he had earned as a part-time waiter and proceeded to decorate it with repurposed trash. Randy Gilson has transformed his home into a colorful, living work of art. (i saw him though)Randyland is free to visit, but donations are accepted. Its located in the heart of the Mexican War Streets neighborhood, and its only a short walk from the Mattress Factory, another popular art museum on the North Side. The museum is open from 10 a.m. until dusk (around 7 p.m. typically), and there is street parking available nearby.Murals providing dozens of Instagram-ready backdrops, practically everybody who visits Randyland leave in a much better mood than they arrived in.

Strange place. Not for everyone. Don’t really know how to explain it. I’m assuming it was Randy was actually out in Randyland telling his story when I was there. He seemed to really enjoy talking to the visitors. No cost and free parking. Worth a stop if you like quirky things

Unexpected wonderful surprise! My daughter and I found this place, while we were out walking. I wish we found it earlier. They were closing, but the owner let us take a look around. I didnt know where to look! So many bright, beautiful colors. If I lived in this area, it would definitely be my favorite spot! CREATIVITY in ACTION! If your looking for your "Happy Place", this might be, just what you need. My daughter commented on my "Happy Face" and my excitement, during our visit!

A literal explosion of bright colors! Even the flowering plants were multi-colored, a case of life imitating art. And Mr. Randy does not shy away from expressing views that might seem polarizing to some. So yeah, come and have a look, take lots of photos, and dont forget to leave a donation before leaving.

Good for a quick stop to see lots of colours and art projects. It’s very artsy, colourful and fun. But it’s just a corner of the street, 1 private yard, so other than looking around there isn’t much else to do there. But it’s with seeing it for sure!

Where do I start with Randyland? Well, for one, the place immediately sends feel-good vibes from head to toe the second you walk in. A colorful oasis of positivity, might be the best way to describe it. We met Randy as he made an appearance before the whole crowd. What a sweet, inspiring, uplifting, and genuine human he is...just wow. My visit was a couple of weeks ago, and I still think about it. Randy was talking about his next installation featuring John Lennon and I cant wait to come back and check that out. Entry is free, but leaving a donation allows this awesome place to remain open to the general public!

Top of my bucket list when visiting Pittsburgh, and it definitely didn’t disappoint!! You can tell the man who created this really loves art and obscurity. There’s lots of messages about loving everyone no matter who they are, definitely very hippie like in the best way. It’s extremely colorful and beautiful. Free admission and the street around it is also decorated. There’s also a gift shop inside,no person attending it so bring exact change if you can to contribute to this art museum:). We even got to meet Randy himself as he was entering his home, he was extremely sweet and very proud of his work. I definitely recommend this place, it honestly made my whole day lol.

I loved this place. I really enjoyed seeing all of the bright colors. Theres even a gift shop which unfortunately doesnt have a person working it so if you want a magnet and only have a $20 bill you kind of have to get more stuff. So if you want something from there you should bring smaller bills. Overall though it was a really cool art exhibit. Also parking is hard to find right by Randyland if you dont live in the area and have a parking permit.

I first visited Randyland in 2015 and returned to bring a good friend and his son while they made a quick visit... I was proud and happy to share such a magical place and a wonderful person to those who were close to me. Randy was there and shared some empowering words with my friends son. It was a moment that made me appreciate that there are still good people in this world.I write this on Bob Marleys birthday, a human that unknowingly helped comfort and empower me through trying times just as Randy tries to do for others. I think Bob would be very proud of Randy.Randyland isnt just a place worth visiting if youre passing through; its a place worth visiting for. Inspiring kids from near and far. He helps water the seeds so they can sprout and grow tall. Life is hard, express the scars, create or admire some art.Its a really good start to building a colorful deck of cards.

Delightful, cheery, and beautiful! It was a fun contrast to a gray and dreary day, which I hear is common in Pittsburgh.A friend decided not to drop by because they thought the pictures did it justice. I disagree, it is way better in person. Its a quick and easy stop, do it!

Free entry into a bizarre collection of stuffs. They ask you to support them but you don’t really have to pay anything. There are some pretty weird meaningless “things”, I guess made by local artists. If you try to find meanings in them, probably you will find them absurd, or probably you will find a lot to think about. In any case, the ambiance is very colorful, bright.

Was there a few years ago and had the opportunity to speak with Randy. Hes a creative kind soul. All painting done by him with the help of donations. If you are in the area and appreciate creativity and items from the past, its worth a stop. Free to walk around, buy a shirt, take pics. On street parking where you can find a spot.

Randy was speaking to a crowd of mesmerized visitors as we arrived, so we stopped and listened for a long while. He is such an inspiring person and a sweet soul. The garden was chaotic yet cohesive, so full of color and love. It was the highlight of our Pittsburgh trip and I will not forget it.

Want Quirk? Visit Randyland in Pittsburgh and you’ll get plenty. One of America’s classic “Outsider Art” venues, it is fun, whimsical, kitschy, funky, colorful and downright quirky. There is so much color and eye candy there that it could take hours to really view it all. It is worth your time folks…just to get a taste of what a non-trained “artist” can do with color, junk and kitschy stuff.
