Ramen Ya in Bristol

I ordered on Uber Eats to be delivered at my hotel. I requested cutlery because I am staying at a hotel and sadly the order was delivered with none, and needless to say I can’t eat Raman with my hands lolz. I phoned the restaurant directly and explained the situation and asked them to please send another driver with cutlery, but the lady who answered insisted that cutlery was included (which it wasn’tand then she hung up the phone!
MoreA very meh experience. The Tonkatsu ramen was mediocre lacking in both flavour and depth. I saw a lot of people putting siracha and sesame oil in their ramen which tells you that it lacked taste. The "sesame" salad is a bag of store bought mixed greens with a bit of sauce. The tempura was decent, its hard to mess up tempura. Ultimately its inauthentic ramen lacking in any real qualify for the price. Avoid this place if you actually like ramen, instead of bland soup.
MoreGreat ramen! The spicy seafood is delicious. Been a few times and never disappoints. Making me hungry just talking about it.
MoreAmazing food, good atmosphere. There is option for pescatarians (vegetable broth with seafood ramenwhich was perfect for me.
MoreAlways great tasting ramen. The moochi for dessert are also good
The ramen is scrumptious. I chose the Dandan style that was hot spicy. I liked it very much.
MoreGreat food, quick service, patient staff and friendly atmosphere!
Best ramen I’ve had in Bristol. Good portion sizes and a great selection of starters. Can get quite busy, it’s not a big place and you can’t always book. Worth going/waiting if you can as food is always served quickly.
MoreBest ramen in this country 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Great food, the broths are deep in flavour and the gyoza are fantastic!
Tasty!
Some of the best Ramen Ive had in Bristol, its not cheap but the portions are filling and you can taste the depth in the broth. My favourite is the Tonkotsu pork ramen the broth is rich, flavourful and packed with umami.
MoreIt was ok but the broth for the tonkotsu lacked any depth to the flavour. The salad was delicious and the karage is probably best eaten at the restaurant rather than as a take away to keep it crispy.
MoreNothing really wrong with this place but I dont feel the ingredients are as fresh as a proper ramen shop youd find in Japan. The flavours definitely leave something to be desired. Its a real shame because it really has a lot of potential unfortunately
MoreLove it here. Its a small and cosy place and the quality of the food is incredible.
MoreCute little place. However the food poisoning was not so great 😅 Thanks for the clear out
MoreBest place for Ramen in Bristol. Nice place to sit and enjoy food. The service is great and the food fresh. Will go here for Ramen more than wagamama.
MoreIf youre looking for the best ramen in Bristol, this is it!I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, the fools is incredible and the staff are amazingly attentive. 5*****
MoreDelicious! Freshly prepared authentic Japanese food, I had the vegan Yasai and Gyoza 🤌The service was fast and the staff were so lovely. Thank you 😊
MoreThe place was on our radar for a long time. Did not disappoint at all!!We got the tonkotsu ramen and the tonkotsu ramen tan-tan. It was amazing. The mochi could have been better but no complaints whatsoever.
MoreA nice little place for your ramen needs. Serves excellent japanese cuisine. We had tonkuntsu and tonkutsu tan tan ramen bowls along with some fried tampura and mochi to end our meal. All the food was above average and delicious. The prices are reasonable and you also get japanese speciality drinks such as sake and japanese beers.
MoreDo not expect the soup noodle was served warm only, not hot enough. Soup was not the same as we tasted in Japan, really disappointed.
MoreThis was fantastic. We ordered a little too much but it was well worth it. Delicious, perfect for that rainy day - and reasonably priced. High quality packaging for takeaway, and ready within the specified timeframe. 💪
MoreNot the greatest experience, the atmosphere was very different from what Id seen in previous reviews - the kitchen was in the same room as the restaurant - the freezer, sink, bulk storage of napkins etc were all within two paces of the table. It felt very cluttered and not very scenic, I would highly recommend they make some efforts to divide the kitchen space from the eating space, it felt as though we were eating at the back of a restaurant instead of at the restaurant. While we ate, the staff were unpackaging things and defrosting the freezer behind us - unloading all the frozen food out onto the tables, and then scraping ice off the freezer as we ate. It was rather loud and unsightly. Sure we did go to eat on a weeknight, however they should consider how it appears to the customers eating - not the best atmosphere to eat.
MoreI would not recommend ordering from here for delivery. I opened my seafood ramen, and immediately see a hair on top of it. The squid rings were so chewy they were inedible and I dont usually mind chewy squid. No scallops in the ramen at all but I did get crab sticks. The kind you find at a supermarket and have absolutely no crab in them. Didnt find the broth or noodles very high quality either. The salad was a joke- 80% mixed salad leaves and a small amount of seaweed for nearly £5. Incredibly disappointed.
MoreBest Ramen I had in Bristol so far 😊
After going back time and time again I’ve had it with this place. I’m just sick of the poor attitude of the waiting staff and sitting there shivering. It’s just cold and miserable. Why bother? I can stay at home and be frowned at. In fairness the food is always good quality but it’s not worth it just for that.
MoreRamen with pork is absolutely amazing, the vegan was only ok.Worst part was the cold, though! The owner kept the door open the whole time and didnt let it close while it was just a few degrees outside!!! What the hell???
MoreThe selection on the menu is pretty small, and it doesn’t seem like they change it up that often? However, the quality and flavour is excellent and great value for money. I will always come back here but I would love for some more variety or items on the menu.
MoreReally excellent! Great ramen, delicious flavours. Basic interior, but dont let put you off their exquisite food!! Staff were very attentive and the kitchen was very busy, for a Sunday. Next time Im in Bristol...Im there!
MoreFor those grey days and winter nights, heck even for the summer times and sundown moments... This is not just ramen. This is a bowl of comfort served up in a rich, flavoursome broth, whereby every sip you take will uncoat new layers of depth you never knew existed.. As you pull the noodles towards your lips, be warned one bite of these bad boys will leave you wanting more, fast! Take your time, enjoy the texture and taste as they entwine with deep greens of seaweed and garnish. The egg.. a solid, simple and statement piece, marinated to beautiful caramel hue with a creamy centre that offsets a wonderful texture to the dish and finally the karaage Chicken... Lord. Yes. Golden brown, texture like sun ( ;light and crispy with a juicy, succulent chicken secret hidden inside... For that satisfying crunch and a meal to walk away from feeling all shades of good and ready. Ramen Ya is a must try. (Pictured: Shoyu Ramen w/ karaage Chicken - the chicken comes on a separate plate so it doesnt get soggy in the soup!:)
MoreExcellent bowls of ramen (the spicy seafood one was delicious, but definitely spicy), very reasonable prices, and a nice atmosphere. Its very small with just a few tables, but we luckily got seated straight away.
MoreDon’t really like the texture of the noodles but the broth is not bad. Having said that, still good to have a ramen place in Bristol.
MoreI was really excited to eat here because I love ramen and all the reviews of the food are amazing. We walked in at 1530 and a staff member told us the restaurant was closed for lunch. The door was wide open and their opening hours on Google and on their sign dont mention this. She told us to come back at 1700 but when we did the same staff member told us that they were fully booked and it would be an hour and a half wait. Looking at the website there is not even an option to book a table. Very disappointing service from a restaurant with such a high rating.
MoreRamen Ya is probably the best Japanese restaurant Ive been to here in England, with ramen dishes that easily compare to what you would find over in Akihabara, Japan. The food is delicious, and very very fairly priced for what you get.The waitresses and chefs are incredibly friendly, welcome you with a smile and even thank you once you have finished your meal, which is a nice touch.Seriously, I cant recommend Ramen Ya highly enough, if you like Ramen you have to try this place!
MoreI had Shoyu and my husband had donkutu :we really enjoyed broth and noodle. And they served very fast! Great noodle 🍜 we will come back again.
MoreAmazing food, ambience and staff. Welcomed us and found a place when we didn’t have a reservation and served up some proper Japanese cuisine.
MoreTL;DR: a hidden gem on the Gloucester Rd with authentic food 5/5I played to visit Ramen Ya in the middle of the Saturday to check if the rate on Google Maps is suggesting correctly almost 5/5 restaurant. Its very easy to miss the restaurant and from the street it doesnt look that interesting/eye-catchy. It was Saturday 2 pm with full sun and I have been the only customer (which was a surprise to me).The basic ramen for around £10 was better than I expected! All ingredients had a unique taste and it was totally different experience if I will compare with typical, European food which you can eat daily. Noodles felt like handmade and had a totally (bettertaste than any other noodle which Ive ever ate! For me it was always hard to get a good quality of ramen in the centre of Bristol but this is definitely the top quality which I can get near Bristol. Definitely recommended!
MoreThe broth and the noodles were amazing! (I felt it was handmade noodles but didn’t confirm with the ownerI’ve tried plenty of Japanese ramens in Bristol, and this one is definitely one of the best one.
MoreFood arrived cold, noodles dull, prawn not cleaned. Huge fan of this place when eating in. Very disappointed with the delivery order
MoreAuthentic! I’ve just been to Japan and was missing it’s cuisine, this place is right next to us and we decided to have a go. The restaurant is small, typical Japanese decoration. The host/waiter was very nice and thoughtful, friendly young girl with 2 chefs in the kitchen. The ramen, bao, tempura, aubergine were delicious. It’s not expensive and very tasty! If you looking for typical japonese (no sushithis is the place to go in Bristol
MoreFast, delicious, cheap. Hell yes.So good, I would like to come back and try the tonkotsu with extra chilli for a kick.Everything was freshly prepared, absolutely delicious and the service was great. Will definitely be back.
MoreCraving steaming noodles brought us to Ramen Ya. The shoyu (soy saucebased soup with chicken karaage was my obvious choice.I love fried chicken; here they made it well. Eight generous pieces of crunchy goodness and not dry inside. Eaten alongside the ramen. The size of ordering standalone karaage is much less compared to what you get here. I think the broth is nothing to boast about. I wasn’t too keen on the noodle texture either - a bit overdone. Given the restaurant is meant to excel in the ramen, it’s more like a 3.5 star for me.Impeccable table service (we were a group of twelve). Their menu is around £11 a bowl. I think it’s not a bad call if you are missing this dish.
MoreSo worth it! I love ramen and really wanted to try something new and was not disappointed. Very good, very delicious. Service was fast and very good. Pleasant visit to this lovely restaurant! Looking forward to go again. Prices are quite good as well.
MoreWhat a find! Its a little inconspicuous from the outside but the smell as soon as you step in is mesmerising.Every ingredient seems like its been hand made because it all tastes so much fresher and has a nicer texture than the store bought equivalents. My partner had the vegetarian miso ramen and I had the vegan rice noodle soup, and both were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the agedashi tofu as a side, which is just about manageable with a whole bowl or ramen if youre very hungry. The staff were nice and polite if a little busy from the places popularity - definitely recommend booking a table if youre going at a specific meal time since the shop is on the small side and very popular. For £8.50 for a bowl of delicious vegan ramen, I can safely say Ill be back very soon.
MoreAmazing and delicious food , very friendly stuff . Highly recommended .Ramen was soo delicious will comeback very soon
MoreBest ramen experience in Bristol. I have been looking for the best and Im sure this place is. And good price £9 for a bowl. Thanks guys. Keep on the good work!
MoreHad the Tonkotsu Tan Tan Ramen - deep rich brother, soft pork & fresh crunchy vegetables. Good quick service as well.
MoreGreat food. Really healthy. Well priced. £9 for big ramen soup
Unlike sticks and broth, this place has made decent ramen. While its personal choice to have different degrees of noodle hardness, soft and mushy is definitely NOT the best. Here the ramen is not too soft, the broth is a little thin but still enough flavour to enjoy. The shoyu ramen was rich and not too salty, the pork was very tender and thoroughly enjoyable. The tonkotsu ramen was a bit weaker and could have done with a bit more salt, but thats personal taste. The Kara-age was delicious, but not with traditional seasonings. The Wakame salad is one of our staples, the sauce was not too heavy, with enough sweetness to balance the vinegar, on a bed of baby leaf salad. We will come here again and I am grateful that we have an place to come for ramen thats a damned sight better than sticks and broth.
