Compact outpost of a Japanese noodle chain serving a range of ramen served in a miso-based broth.
Service was good , ramen was bad. The porc wasn’t braise and tender it was tough, and tasteless, the broth was very bland too.
Delicious Ramen, at great prices! My friend cant eat pork and apparently their vegetarian option is really nice too
Food is always amazing! Been 6 years I go there and my Vegetarian miso is always so tasty.Best ramen in town.Highly recommend
The only good thing about the food was the cha-shu. It was cooked well and was a bit crispy too. The broth was both tasteless and gross at the same time, they put fries in the ramen (they just got soggy and didnt add anything to the ramen), and the noodles were just alright. Portions were a good size if it was edible.Service was slow, as there was only one wait staff working, but the place was not busy at all. We didnt even get water with our meal.Atmosphere is nice, very student friendly, and the menu has a decent amount of options.I would only recommend going here if you have nowhere else to go in between classes, but being downtown, there will be many other places to go.
Takoyaki and ramen were superb. *Note* the "spicy" IS deliciously spicy. First time having takoyaki. It was recommended by my wonderful server and glad I tried it! Yum! 5 ⭐
It was alright, I felt bad for our server as it was busy and there were crazy amount of takeout orders. A few groups were toxic but she kept her composure. As for the food it was meh, the soup was under seasoned but the meats were spot on. A change in noodles would have made the meal better but the portions were generous.
I used to like this a lot, however recently I’ve been having numerous bad experiences here. First of all the service is lacking. During my last visit, there was only one waitress for the whole floor and she was extremely in the weeds and messing up lots of orders. She didn’t seem well at all running around the whole place.Karaage was good, nothing to complain about. Gyoza tasted store-bought and was boiled or steamed, not even bothered to fry, really wasn’t worth it. The ramen noodle is very good, roasted potato as a garnish is a bit weird (its not bad but its strange to encounter it as a topping in ramen). Broth can be a bit watery, but the miso flavor is good. The chashu is deep fried and not torched but is tasty.Overall its not as good as the reviews make it seem, its a pretty old place that used to be excellent and inherited the good reviews. However a lot of newer places have taken the stage downtown recently and are more worth it.
The entire ramen tasted fully and only salt and nothing else. The flavour is salt. I’m salty about this experience.
Worth the wait! Fantastic little hole in the wall type of place but very popular with the local Japanese. I had one miso and one appy, they were both fresh and flavorful served with care. I want to try everything on the menu😀
I came to this place as I was craving ramen and lived nearby. The place looks small from the outside, but the inside is nicely spacious. The waitress was very welcoming while explaining the menu to me. I also noticed this Japanese lady who I assume is the owner of the restaurant. Shes very kind too and always keeps a smile for the customers. I finally decided to order the deluxe tantanmen. The broth was really good and the spice level was perfect in order to feel the spice and fully enjoy the taste. I was surprised by how filling the food was, mostly since the deluxe tantanmen came with 3 pork belly slices. The egg was also well runny and absolutely delicious to eat. Only improvement Id say is that the ramen could be a little hotter when served. The meal was also very affordable and I was very happy ordering the biggest dish on the menu was barely only around 21$ with taxes. In general, the place is one of the best ramen places downtown for its low cost, delicious ramen and a cozy atmosphere.
I got the basic tantanmen with a bao combo. The tantanmen was delicious but the bao was too sweet. Next time, Ill go for the deluxe tantanmen which will definitely not disappoint. Service was great.
Soup,Noodles and Char Siu are delicious. But soup was cold. Ramen has to be very hot hot hot !!!!!
After a long hot day of walking the St-Catherine street, my most beautiful girlfriend and I began our search for a place to quench our hunger. Little did we know our naiveness and desperation for a ramen like lunch led us to this place. The fast service was appealing and the waitress herself was merry. We didn’t hesitate long to order their most peculiar and popular dish ; The Golden Ramen. We were surprised to find that we had to pay an extra (1.50$just to be able to add one table spoon worth of store bought spicy sauce. To our astonishment the broth(very gingerywas very tasty, filled with delightful roundlets of pork. To be followed by a very deceiving ground meat that did not find its place in the sum of the bowl. The entirety of the bowl was shoved with sprouts that did not have any identity. I wish there was more thought put into the components of the dish. Most of all, all the delicious sides that you find in a so-called ramen were only to be bought by a full price for like Jesus paid on the cross. We write this with sincerity, blessings to any of you who feel daunted by the overpriced Karaage.
I absolutely loved dining here. This restaurant truly is a hidden gem in Montreal. The ramen is affordable and filling. I personally got the spicy option on the "gold menu" (still dont know what that means). The service was quick, the environment was welcoming, and the food was amazing.
My go-to place for vegetarian ramen!! Finally a ramen place that doesn’t just have basic vegetable broth for a veg option!! This is my third time here and it did not disappoint! The portion are decently sized and my vegetarian tan tan miso ramen tasted amazing as always!! The only small downside is that it only comes with 1 fried tofu. Imo, it doesn’t seem fair when there are ramen bowls that comes with 3 pieces of meat!! I had to ask for extra tofu (2 pieces). It’s not a big deal but it’s something I noticed! Overall, I will come back here again for when I am craving a good hot bowl of ramen!! :)
Pretty decent ramen, a little on the salty side but overall good. The service and ambiance was really great. I enjoyed the noodles the most, the meat was a little hard and chewy. My friend had one with shrimp and it was a little pricey for what they got. Overall an ok experience, I’m looking forward to trying other ramen restaurants in Montreal.
Reasonably priced (compared to other ramen shops hereand good portions, as well as delicious ramen and sides. Takoyaki (octopus ballsdon’t come with Bonito flakes but very good nonetheless (as a non-Japanese at leastand so is the chashu (braised pork belly). Even as a big adult, the gold chashu ramen is more than filling enough, so prepared to leave on a full stomach. Great selection of ramen and they have bottled ramune (Japanese soda with the marbleas well! Been coming here since 2019, always a nice meal!
The ramen was very salty and greasy.. would not recommend it. Plus the service was very slow and the waitress showed her mood of being tired when she was taking our order.. If the food was great I would have not complained.. 😕
Disappointing. The ramen was just ok. A bit salty and the pork is too fatty for my liking. The waitress seemed really overwhelmed and looked like she was about to cry when someone ordered the wrong plate and sent it back. Mustve been one of those days.
Food is excellent, nice ramen. They would gain to hire more staff during Fantasia and summer time, though!
Lovely Air-conditioned place for Ramen. The prices are very reasonable and the Golden Special was delicious.Very fast service which was friendly.I was impressed.
I had the BEST experience the other night. My server, Jade, was so friendly and kind. She went through all the differences in the menu for me and even taught me how to use chopsticks! I got the vegetarian tantan and it was very tasty. I just wish that the place had more vegetarian options and dessert!
The ramen was very tasty and spicy. I didnt like something in the broth though, maybe the cumin. They were extremely generous with toppings. The pork pieces were way too fatty tho, like 50-60% pure fat which was a little too much for my taste. The noodles tasted very good. Would recommend.
Okay price for the meal. service wasnt great, our water never got refilled. Surprised, there is no alcohol service.
Five years later, same thing! Not the best Ramen - noodles werent homemade and a bit starchy, chasu would be better if crispier, eggs still overcooked, but the broth is fine.---Friendly little hole in the wall ramen place. Excellent service, my bowl was pretty good, the eggs were juuuust a tad overcooked, but the flavor was there. Expect to pay 12-18$ for your ramen. Free WiFi and hot tea. Not the best option in town, but a good place in this neighborhood.
We had the mini buns and I got the vegetarian ramen. The ramen was slightly saltier than expected but it was good!
It was very good but not my favorite ramen place. But it was cheaper than usual !
100% WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!I wish I could give 0 stars 😪I usually like their ramen, but everything has been getting worse each time I go. Tonight I went to eat with 2 friends and we were more than disappointed with the service and the food quality. First, when we arrived, we were made to wait longer than we should have with only two tables of customers. The servers saw us but kept ignoring us until they either finished drying spoons or finished getting change for a table. Even after that they ignored us to do other things and then decided to greet us.After about 10 minutes of putting down our menus and looking around, waiting for a server to take our order, we called on one of the servers, to which she asked if we were ready to order. What else would we be calling them for?The server was okay when taking our order, but it wasn’t great. Just took the order and left.We were also dissatisfied with the quality of the broth. We are all Japanese. My two friends were born and raised in Japan and know what decent ramen tastes like. This was far below the quality of basic ramen. The broth was more thin and oily than I’ve had, the past times I’ve eaten at Misoya. It tasted lacking in flavor. On top of that my noodles were undercooked and clumped together. I’m not sure if you can see it in my photo. The ramen was edible but below par. Finally, although 1/3 of was still eating and the rest we’re talking, the server came and asked if we were ready for the bill. I thought people asked for the bill after everyone is finished eating, but I guess not here. We paid full price but believe it wasn’t worth the price. Also, one of us ordered a ramen combo that comes with a basic ramen, a small karaagedon and a coffee. The server who took our order asked if we wanted a drink with it, to which we replied « no » because it came with a coffee. We did not get the coffee and was charge for the individual ramen and karaagedon. When we asked the waitress about it, she explained that the combo is « just a collection of things and she asked if we wanted anything to drink and we said no ». Is it us? Did we get it wrong or is the server unknowledgeable about their menu? Because the combo did not give any option of drinks other than the coffee. So naturally we said « no » when she asked if we wanted anything to drink, knowing that the only option given was coffee.Safe to say that none of us will never go back to this extreme disappointment of a Japanese ramen restaurant.
The ramen was very tasty, and I loved the bao! Service was friendly and helpful. I couldnt give a 5 star review as three things we were planning to order; they were out of. We were really looking forward to shrimp, and I have never tried authentic kimchi, so I was disappointed that there was none. First time eating ramen, and I really enjoyed it.
Tantan Miso never fails to satisfy my taste buds. If you are looking for something spicy and not too crowded in your bowl, tantan miso does justice to it :)
The ramen tastes...really bad. I mean, I can taste the old iron taste of the meat and bland vegetables (except green onions: they were freshwhereas usually the saltiness of Ramen base would cover that taste, it just didnt here. There was cabbage in here that didnt go well with the entirety of the dish. The waitress was nice and they have great service (forgot water but apologized afterward). But the food...it made me realize I rather spend 17$ on a ramen than 13$.
Nice and cozy placeI tried an appetizers, a pork dish (silver shiro cha shuand a vegatable dish.Main pork dish is just ok.Vegetable dish was really good.Tried Poulet Kara-age for appetizers. It was good.Staff is really friendly and supportive. Our waitress didnt know anything. She had to ask everything from another person that person had to assit her.(Maybe she is in training)Overall experience is ok.Food was just ok.
Stopped by here for a late lunch and the ramen tasted great! They have several to choose from and the prices were reasonable! The staff was courteous and accommodating too.
Taste is great, with almost no bad side except the noodle being instant noodle (still tastes good though, maybe a bit soft and lacks elasticity). Very authentic flavor of ramen, with a good taste of ginger in the soup that would instantly warm you during winter. Still the portion is relatively little considering the price, and there is only a tiny piece of squid meat in each Takoyaki.
The portions are good and the noodles are fine. The soup is overly salty and the chashu meat was too chewy and not very tender and soft. If you don’t like salty foods go for something less salty like a clear broth if you want to come here. However, I believe there are better ramen places out there.
It is a place where you can find a delicious flavourful ramen. Not only one base soup, but three, so you can try all of them. A real taste in your mouth. Place is small but often packed, and thats what I like about this place. Check out my favourite soup, Mamemiso Special in which I decided also to add on Kimchi (optional😍."You have to try it before you say you dont like it".Jan. 4/2020 - Adding to my review, we visited the place and found out that they’ve changed their menu. Now, there are two soup base that they are offering, Shiro miso and Kome miso. They are still the best place to experience ramen.
One of my favourite ramen place in Montreal. The spicy vegetarian ramen is amazing!!! The broth is flavourful and the veggies and noodles are a good portion! The kimchi is really well marinated and is very tasty!!
Ive ordered two Ramens (delivery): Miso Curry and Mugi Deluxe.Ive added an extra piece of Miso grilled Cha-shu pork to the Miso Curry and some extra corn and some Miso ground pork (Nikumisoto the Mugi Deluxe. The Ramens arrived pretty quickly and had the main ingredients separated from the broth to preserve consistency. Both Ramens smelled really good. The broth was thick and flavourful, and the thin ramen noodles had a good, mildly al dente consistency. The Miso Curry broth was mildly spicy, even though it wasnt specified on the dish itself. On the other hand, the eggs were overcooked and unappealing, the pork was dry and hard to chew on, and it was exactly the same deal with the Panko chicken (it felt like the meats were prepared well in advance and were left out to dry).I felt like the overall experience was disappointing and the quality of the Ramen didnt fit the price that was being charged for it. It ended up being more of a chore of finishing it up rather than enjoying the meal itself.
Cute little restaurant downstairs on Bishop with various ramen on display in the front window. One of my favourite Ramen places in Montreal. They have 3 vegetarian options and each has a rich broth. In terms of portion youll definitely get your moneys worth for less than 15$ tax in. The noodles are imported from Japan
Hooooooooly cow. Best ramen in Montréal! Wow. Try their GOLD broth + spicy ramen. You can add many toppings a la carte such as fried onions, green onions, corn, Kim Chi, etc. So good! Will be back again and again. Thanks!
Always amazing!Come here all the time for about a year. You can try something new everytime or stick to your favs and it will always please your ramen soul.Very fair menu+pricing, good extras, and often a unique promo item.VERY GOOD VÉGÉ OFFERINGS.Only "b-mol" is the wooden chopsticks.Bring your own to be awesome!Loyalty card. Basement hideaway.
Love this place! I eat there almost weekly. There is nothing more relaxing than eating a Misoya ramen after a long day. They have a cool system in which you get a free drink every 5 visits, and get a free ramen meal every 10. The place is usually crowded, so try to avoid rush hours if youre with a group. Otherwise, I would still recommend waiting because of how delicious their meals are!
This is the Ramen restaurant we alway come for great meals while visiting Montreal area. The restaurant has many locations around the world, which I plan to visit one in New York and Bangkok for my next trips.Parking is not easy if you want to park close-by. I suggest you to park where you can find and walk to the restaurant. The tastes have been consistent for my past 5-6 years. We will come back next time!
Delicious ramen spot in the Montreal Downtown area. Revisited multiple times, I prefer the flavour and quality of the food compared to competing nearby ramen restaurants.Staff is friendly, and efficient. Location is often packed, especially during peak school hours. Great location for students at Concordia University. If you’re looking for a good quality bowl of ramen, this place is worth every penny. Menu might be a little intimidating, however all their options are delicious. The Chashu and Karaage meats are well cooked and absolutely delicious.
Tasty Ramen, reasonable price, service sometime slow during lunch hour. Noodle texture is great. Love this Ramen House. The pictures tell all 😁
My issue with this restaurant was the taste of the broth here. I simply was not a fan, I found it too tangy and not rich enough for ramen. I felt like I was eating a premium pack of instant noodles. Unless theres a regional speciality that I dont know about, this is not at all what its like in Japan. Otherwise, the service and price was reasonable for this part of town. Ordered from the gold menu.
No frills little restaurant with an basic selection of miso soups. Soup base is pork, so this restricts quite a few people, but there are three vegetarian options. The soup is tasty and you can pick from strong and milder flavor as well as spicy( which I recommend, as they add a dollop of spicy paste which lets you regulate the level of heat yourself. Want authentic try Misoya
Good ramen place in Montréal! I came to this place to try some ramen as it was recommended by a friend. Heres my likes and dislikes!...Likes:1. Reasonable price.2. Wifi.3. ATM machine is accessible, tho I think theres a charge if you withdraw.4. Accepts cash and debit. Not sure about the credit.5. Good quality food and delicious!6. Near Metro Guy Concordia (Green Line)7. The food is very presentable!8. Closing hours is good especially for the night students around the area. Can have ramen after the night class!...Dislikes:1. Broth is way too salty! EXTREMELY SALTY. 😂2. Store is small and can be busy.3. The color inside is not neat for me. I hope they change the color of the place. Something that looks neat.
Wonderful experience beside Concordias engineering building. Its a small but very cozy place with very fast service! Their Kara Age chicken is very delicious and well done. Though be careful because its served very hot! The ramen is made to perfection with a generous amount of broth and pork. I added spiciness to the broth and it was very worth it. Only complaint I have is that the pork wasnt very meaty, it had a lot of fat in it. Other than that, fantastic place to get some great ramen :)
The fried chicken taste really good! It was fried perfectly and is very juicy. Also love the sauce. I ordered the golden ramen which is said to be the most popular one. It tastes good but not in a extraordinary way. The place is very popular - usually you have to wait in line. And the service can be quite slow!
