Energetic venue offering updated American comfort food, a full bar & regular live entertainment.
I cannot understand why the Goat doesnt make better use of all the space inside for tvs and a sports bar vibe. I love the location, the food is good, the servers friendly and yet our group was almost the only one there.
I really love this place, but in this ocasion it was a really horrible customer service, i asked for drinks and i was ignored, the server was ignoring us all the time while attending others. I asked for the check, they over charge us and added extra items that we did not order.
DO NOT RECOMMEND.Stopped in for brunch. We were the first folks there at 10:15, sat outside, and waited for a server, no dice. It’s early and no one is there, so we give them the benefit of the doubt and check inside. Sat at the bar for about five minutes before anyone came out. When the bartender/server came out she was really kind - from there, service greatly improved. Food? Worse brunch that I’ve ever had. $15 for two cold eggs, one slice of cold toast, cold bacon, and the worst possible hash browns. I’m not sure how you can ruin a frozen portion of potato, but they certainly did. I’ve done a lot of brunches, but this one is the worse.
Soooo, heard alot about this place an tried it twice recently. The flavor was just OK. I noticed as other peoples food came out alot of it looked sloppy plated, like thrown together. The ingredients seem all wrong on alot of the choices. I saw a cake or slice of something that my sin commented looked like throw up with orange syrup around it. They need to complete Rehaul alot of those menu ideas 💡. Sorry, but we wont be back. Food doesnt look appealing. Im guessing people must be wasted ordering this stuff 🤔 an not noticeable because they are drunk.
They changed their menu recently, better than before IMO and I enjoy the live music they do and location close to downtown where the movies is.... great date night spot or hangout w/ friends place 🖤
The drinks are really good and the bartenders are really nice.
Rude. Didnt bother saying anything to us when we walked in. We waited standing there since they were occupied with other customers. Both bartenders looked at us when they were done attending to the previous people and didnt say anything, they just turned around and looked out the window. We patiently waited. Still didnt say anything to us after 10 mins. The restaurant and bar were not busy at all. This is the second time this has happened here. Both times Ive been there not once was i greeted or attended to. Ive walked out both times. Wont come here again to be ignored.
Rockabilly shows excellent. Awesome drinks, great food. Fun and friendly atmosphere.
We stopped here for a couple drinks with friends. The service was fast and the drinks tasted amazing. We will be back for sure. More vegan/gf options would nice too.
We had a great time.. chill.. good vibes.. perfect service and hilarious security guard! Best and only divorce party i have ever had! Lol.. #1492withfriends
We went for Brunch and no way was it Brunch! We had to go inside and order then if we wanted a drink we had to go into another door and order and pay separately. The food was terrible and when I looked around most people were not finishing their meal at all! The band was supposed to be playing Zydeco music and no way was it Zydeco!
One of my absolute favorite bars and restaurants in the Valley. GREAT BARTENDERS, and AMAZING FOOD. I would give them 10 stars if I could. The main dining room is not what some would expect for such GREAT food and service, but its all about the service and products right?. Im a BIG fan of this AWESOME spot!!!!!
I see people talk about the service is slow ..... but I wasnt in a hurry.... so it was nice to listen to the band and enjoy the weather .... the food was good ..... but the band was much enjoyable... I had a good time there tonight... and with the c 19 ..... it was a good night .....
Great food. They have awesome sweet potato fries. Got the burger and hubby ordered the French dip. Good service, a bit slow but they were really busy.
We had a great time celebrating a good friends birthday. Mike Shelton and staff did a great job keeping us happy. It can be difficult to go out during covid times but the goat does a great job of keeping us safe and still allowing us to have a good time.
We came on a very busy night, they had the street blocked off and the music was extremely loud. But the service was amazing. I got the vegan pulled pork, Id give 4/5. My friends got their chicken with mashed potatoes. It didnt come with gravy, but the chef made it for them anyways. They loved it. The servers were really attentive, and the chef came out to check on us too. I heard they have beyond burger, Ill be going soon to check it out.
Love coming here! Good drinks and food. Mike is awesome!! Always good music and the patio is nice and roomie. Never had any issues here. If you haven’t had brunch here with bottomless mimosas then your missing out!
Dinner was really good, a lil pricey for their salads but worth every dollar. Great live entertainment, Very nice waitress and there was 11 or 12 of us.
Food was subpar. Drinks were good. Love the location but would def not have this as a first pick or even a third pick if looking for a good place to eat. There was a large area of pee that was outside when I last went. Not the businesses fault, but still a turn off.
Such a fantastic experience we had! The staff is so friendly and welcoming ((^_^)The food was great and so tasty! The waitress recommended lemon pepper fries and they were just as great as she said theyd be. Oh! And the Live music was fantastic! Absolutely loved that touch. Overall, the entire experience was amazing. Will definitely be returning. Thank you for making our date night a great one!
This place was great. We got the best waiter named Michael, if you go there I recommend asking to sit in his section. He took great care of us and had great recommendations. Great drinks and amazing food. We will definitely be back.
Have been ordering from here for nearly 2 years. Review changed from 5 to 1 star for very prominent reasons. For the last 6 times we have been/ordered from here, the food has been AWEFUL! The once succulent tri-tip sandwiches are now like eating gristley dog biscuits. The burgers that were once juicy and presentable now have been overcooked every time across 5 different orders. The salads are pathetically small and may have a few leaves but thats it. Their once delicious jackfruit sandwich is now a soggy slimy mess and has been a consistent disappointment. And the worst that happened on our anniversary was our fries had BITES TAKEN OUT OF THEM. Should have taken pictures... but dismissed it as an isolated event or maybe doordash driver, but restaurant refuses to take responsibility. Owner was supposed to call back on three different occasions...but no dice. I used to be ok with the overpriced menu since the quality was commensurate with price, but for the last six orders, it is clear their kitchen staff dont care and it shows. Also pray you can order through Doordash or some other service since their phones never seem to work. A little disappointed that every time we order a dish that has a side sauce (bbq, ranch, or even salad dressing), they either forget it, or only give a teaspoon worth full in a little cup.We will NOT be back and will never recommend this place to anyone again.
I love this bar! Live music on saturday nights and friendly bartenders, great food, this is one of the places that makes the Modesto bar scene great. Shout out to the owner who works just as hard as his crew!
Came for a few cocktails and was underwhelmed by the scene and options. There was no drink specials menu and really no house drinks. They charged 8 dollars for a Jack and Coke in a small plastic cup. Ive had quite a bit of Jack and it tasted like a well drink with cheap whiskey.
A simple, warm, lively and tasty place to reconnect with the special people in your life while you fill you belly with comforting foods prepared by a skilled hand and served by a friendly and social staff!! So worth the fight for parking and fairly priced! -JCH
Wow! The vegan options here are phenomenal. I loved the vegan pulled pork and stuffed zucchini. Also: TRY THE HOT SAUCE. its amazing! And our waiter was very friendly and accommodating as was the chef :-)
Great place! I loved whenever the bartender fist bumped me for playing his favorite Techno track!!
We finally tried this restaurant and were looking forward to it as looked to be a cool place. They advertised taco Tuesday in the newspaper and online, thought it would be fun. Walked in and no waitress or greeter present for 5+mins, should have left then. Figured out we just sit down and only one waitress for the entire restaurant. She was working really hard and super nice but there was one of her. She took our drinks and orders. 10 mins later she lets me know the bartender doesn’t have the ingredients to make the cocktail I ordered on their menu. Also they stopped doing taco Tuesday couple months ago. Whatever, let it go.Tables were cheap cafeteria style and chairs super uncomfortable. Drinks came in the tacky plastic cups. Food came 30 +mins later and was horrible. Hamburger was cooked solid and like a brick, inedible. Tritip salad, salad ok but the tritip was like leather, also not edible. Chili cheese fries were not bad. Hence the one star and the waitress was really nice just way understaffed. We will never go there again.
The only reason Im leaving a one star review is because anything less is not offered. My daughters and I went today for brunch. Place was empty and still had bad service. We were seated at a table right away and offered drinks to which we all choose non-alcholic juices, pineapple and orange juice. We waited at least 15 minutes before the juice was brought to the table. The orange juice was warm and nasty tasting. We waiting another 5 or so minutes and still had not had anyone take our order. So we decided that it was best to leave, went to the cashier and told them the reason we were leaving and although she looked embarrassed, I dont think she was surprised. I offered to pay for three glasses of juice but thankfully when she called the waitress over she said no charge (wonder if this was an owner). She was not apologetic and was not surprised that we were leaving. As we left we noticed that the waitress (possible ownerwas to busy in the bar hanging out with customers. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Great service!! Also, the food was wonderful. We started by sharing the HUGE clam chowder bowl. It was the best Ive had inland. Then I got the zucchini boats and my boyfriend got the spicy chicken sandwich with fries, both extra crispy. It was all soooo good! He said the bacon was cooked perfectly. There were lots of great vegan choices as well as meat options! I highly recommend this place!
Really solid gourmet-style food for a reasonable price. Cocktails were tasty though admittedly watered down a bit. Service staff was very friendly and energetic; my whole group was eager to leave large tips after our first encounter with them.
Outstanding local experience. Food was amazing. We had 5 different dishes and all of them were perfect (special recognition to the tri-tip sandwich and the fried chicken). They have a nice selection of beer and drinks. Service was friendly, personable, and awesome (thanks Jake!). We didnt go on a night when there was live entertainment, but we plan a return trip to see some local talent. Thanks for the great night!
ended up here twice after critical mass bike rides hosted by the shire. My absolute favorite feature here is their patio which is just a loosely stantiond off area from the sidewalk. their burgers, pizza were pretty good. the cocktails and service have been inconsistent, but always polite.
We went there last night for our first time. It was for an event so it busy. I sent back my burger twice because it was too rare. My husbands burger was too. This is the first time I’ve ever sent back food. I think because it was busy they were cooking them half way. So order up if you want, because the meat is thick it takes more time to cook. The fries had season salt on them, too salty! If I eat there again, I will know what to ask for. I believe it was the owner that came out and made sure the 3 time I got what I wanted. The waitress was great!
Food, drink and atmosphere all amazing. Chef Gil prepared an award winning Alfredo for me and my hubby loved his burger and chili fries. Our bartender, Connie, was friendly and engaging.
Had dinner there last night, on a Friday. Our wait staff was very attentive and the food was very good and quick to receive, including our drinks. The sweet potato fries are so yummy!!! You must try them with their hamburger. I will definitely go back.
The food was decent. Typical bar food. Kinda hard to screw up a chicken sandwich & burger....service was very slow. They need to take a good look at their greens before serving. I had a number of mucky greens. A bit over priced for 2 sandwiches. Only 1 girl working tables, and there were only two tables. Us & one other. Cant say Id return.
My husband and I had dinner with my parents last night. We were hoping for a amazing relaxing Friday night dinner and drinks while listening to the free concert downtown. To our greatest dissatisfaction our dining experience was just AWFUL!!!! Not just our waitress, but all the waitresses seem to lack experience. They were more concerned with how they looked rather to be concerned with their paying customers. We both ordered salads. Both of our salads came out completely different from what the menu described. Just gross!!!!! We both ordered beers because we knew if we ordered a cocktail we would wait even longer. Again, we waited a very long time for our beers. After 2 hours waiting and asking to receive any kind of decent service we decided to go to Saint Stan’s. What a difference...... service was AMAZING, beers were colder and our waitress was more than pleased to wait on us. Never once had to ask for anything.
After hearing about this place countless times, I finally made it down here. Good selection of beer, great and friendly staff, and from the food I ordered, it was really good. I HIGHLY recommend their Buttermilk Fried Chicken with loaded mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. Take a friend or a date and show them this place.
Best bloody mary in town. The Asian salad was AMAZING, the service was amazing.
Had dinner reservations last night for 3 @ 5:30, when we walked into the establishment we were not acknowledged and there was only one other table of people in there, we stood there for 10 minutes, all the while you can see the workers In the back, they glace at us and continue the conversation between themselves & not once acknowledged us, not a hello, welcome absolutely nothing! So we left & happily walked over to Fuzios where there is always impeccable customer service and amazing food. We will not be giving this place another chance. One and done!
If the ambience were better, this could be a five star hangout. We liked the food, the service and the prices--but the place is loud because of all of the hard surfaces (floors, glass, walls). The layout is odd--and not in a good way. Theres no creativity in where you sit. Its almost like a 20-year Army veteran set this place up. Just weird.Again-good food. The burgers, soups, salads, apps, entrees are all worth the trip. I like the beer list and cocktails, but the wine list needs a lot of work. Put some time into crafting a better list of reds and whites--youre in California. Its what we expect.Well be back--during the quieter times.
Great food, great environment, great people! If your a night owl and want something more then bar food this place is for you.
Dang!! Ordered the chicken strips and mashed potatoes for $12, thought I was going to get a $12 meal, this would be way more expensive where I live. Awesome!! The mashed potatoes were full of bacon and topped with cheese and everything else was tasty, veggies were roasted fresh not nasty frozen like some other places. I will be going back anytime Im in the area.
Great try during lunch! However, the service changed later When I brought my friend to also try out the restaurant. Unfortunately our server forgot about us!!!! Our appetzier came out cold, most likely it had been sitting waiting. By the time it came out, we Finally got put drinks . Fortunately, the owner came back with fresh ones! But once again, the server that night just ruined the experience. Salad came after the main course and we were just to Dang dehydrated to enjoy the restaurant like I did for lunch.4 stars because lunch was Amazing and 1 star off because of... I already said why.
Restaurant at first seemed like a good vibe with entertainment, but chef forgot our food which took over 40 minutes. Had to ask before midnight how long our food was going to take and got a "Lemme see how much longer Itll be." I get it that sometimes a restaurant can be busy but have to at least check up on your customers. I automatically walked out when I noticed they forgot to make our food. The pineapple and vodkas were poorly made and not even strong at all.Im very disappointed and it wasnt even busy...
Super fun little place in downtown Modesto. Flexible owner, carried out most of the restaurant to create sidewalk seating so that patrons could enjoy the beautiful weather. Live music, too, when we were there on a Sunday afternoon. Good food, good service. Worth a visit!
This is a composite review over 3 recent visits. We have tried salads, sandwiches and burgers and all were good. I dont care for particularly spicy food so my only disappointment was the chicken on my salad turned out to be buffalo chicken. I guess I missed that part on the menu. Oops. The best part here is sitting outside and listening to the Friday evening concerts at the 10th Street Plaza. Did I mention my mojito was great? June 30 we went again. I rechecked the menu and the salad does not say buffalo. This time I had chicken strips and my husband had fried chicken. The fried chicken was nearly identical except I got three strips and he got two pieces chicken and paid $1 more. The chicken strips were tasty. After our visit September 1, I dropped a star from my review. The mojito had dried up mint and tasted like water (see picture). My crispy chicken salad this time had dressing poured all over the chicken which made it too spicy and too soggy. The onion rings were still great, but came without a sauce for 10 minutes and no napkins on table.
What a great addition to Modesto downtown. We came Saturday afternoon, but you can get food until 2am on the weekend. Mike was an amazing bartender and my wife and I had a great time. There was baseball and Olympics on the TV. The pasta and burger was GREAT!
Last night I had the most excellent asparagus risotto with a nice Spanish white. Great, personable service. They make you feel like family. The bar side is a great place to stop with its own menu and a fun, warm atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available too. And the prices are really affordable! A step up in friendly, fine food, and vibe from several other downtown establishments.
