Contemporary eatery for ramen with a variety of toppings, plus other Japanese fare & imported beer.
Its really a hit or miss. Sometimes the food is great and other times not.
Best Ramen I have ever had!
While I miss the old menu from the previous place at this location, raku does a nice job and has a good selection of ramen.
Extremely mediocre ramen. I ordered Tonkotsu ramen and almost every component was lacking. Noodles werent springy, ramen egg was overcooked, chashu was the consistency of ham, and the broth was bland (no wonder they charge extra for spicy). Service was friendly and very quick, however Ill still be searching for decent ramen on the central coast
Hands down best ramen in SLO or Santa Barbara counties. Seats can be a bit limited but well worth the food. Delicious.
They have good ramen :)Food is average price.Menu picture is as of July 25, 2022
Do not recommend the ramen. The bowls are good
All those 4/5 stars reviews got to be fake or these people had never had ramen before. The broth had no taste at all. Plain, bland, and no flavor at all. I had spicy tonkotsu, it made me sad eating it.
Just-right portions at a great price! Tonkotsu ramen was really well-balanced and tasty. Staff was friendly!
Ramen and udon were very tasty. Broth was flavorful. I liked the seaweed salad, but it might not be to everyones taste.
Best Ramen in town. The new location has online and in-store self-ordering which makes it super easy, and the food is delicious as always.
The food here is decent and reasonably priced. The service however has a great deal of room for improvement. If you dont have cash you will be forced to order through a kiosk screen. My spicy tuna salad was beautifully presented but wasnt spicy at all. After the guy behind the counter ignored my request for spicy chili paste, I decided not to ask him for soy sauce. They might benefit from putting condiments out where customers can get at them.
Great ramen house. Tons of options, but I get the odon noodles with added chicken. Tried a number of places and this is the best around.
Everything is so good! The customer service is great. If you are craving ramen this the place to go.
Straight 🔥. ALL WAYS GOOD. ALWAYS FRESH. Never had a bowl of ramen I didn’t like from Raku. Keep up the good work.
This is the best ramen Ive ever had in my life. Was ready in less than 5 minutes after we sat down. Cant wait to come back for seconds. I ate the delicious ramen so fast I only got a pic of what was left lol
Hands down the best ramen in SLO. Always fresh, super delicious. Their miso broth is like a big warm hug. So happy for them growing and moving to Foothill. The new place is super nice and its a lot easier to find a seat!
On par with expectations. Seating was first come first serve so it was a a small wait after ordering at the kiosk machine to the left of the main door. The raku ramen is spicy and good.Tonkotsu ramen base was ok.
Egg was cold, seaweed is like fruit by the foot, meat was tough. The best thing I can say about it is the speed of service, which was excellent. That said, for an order of $12 Ramen, $3 for an extra egg, $3 for extra noodles, total bill around $20, this is not worth going to. Better food for less within easy walking distance.
Food is delicious, especially the ramen with pork bone broth with spicy chili!
Our new favorite place. Everything has been so good and fresh, we haven’t been disappointed with anything we’ve tried! Good size portions too. We will definitely be back!
A solid ramen restaurant. Prices are fair and quantities are good. However, nothing is exceptional (quantity, quality, or value for money). If you want ramen and this is the closest place, go ahead! But if there are other places within driving distance, feel free to try those instead.
Great place, all the menu items have been good, fantastic broth. The atmosphere is nice, clean and fun. You order on a screen and they find you by number. Best Ramen in town, though its SLO
Yum Vegetarian ramen with spinach noodles, extra nori and extra spinach. Fast casual spot on Foothill with counter window seating perfect for a quick bite. Gyoza were delicious too!
They have one vegan ramen option with your choice of noodles (soba, udon, spinach, or rice), comes with a few veggies (mushrooms, broccoli, asparagus, carrots, onions), in a creamy broth that I think is mushroom-based, but when I asked them if the bowl can be made soy-free for a friend with an allergy, they said something along the lines of the broth being packaged premade with soy sauce already in it, so I dont know how homemade this ramen is compared to places that make their own veggie broth, but it was good nonetheless. They also have a crispy tofu rice bowl with veggies, but its fried on shared equipment, unfortunately.
The ramen shop that used to be here, Menka Ramen, was miles better than this. Still Rakus ramen is good. However, I would love it if they handed the ramen to you in a cardboard box or something more sturdy than a plastic bag. The plastic lids on the ramen cups are a total joke. Ordered for pick up then had to pull over to take them out of the bag. All lids were popping off and some broth spilled in the bag.
Food was great spicy tonkatsu ramen was good not the best Ive ever had but delicious. The view was beautiful the interior is cool biggest down side for me, was its a bit up there in price and the AC isnt really cool inside but I would come again if i was in town. Thank you guys for the awesome meal.
The best ramen in SLOI had friends that would come here even when they had already had Raku two days before.Im sad that theyre moving from the nice quiet location on Monterey to Foothill but I will definitely be continuing my patronage.
Is this the best ramen is SLO? Yes. Yes it is. Is that saying very much? Not too much… their broth was pretty good! The chashu pork tasted good but kind of fell apart… the egg was excellent. Noodles were a bit overdone and started breaking easily. Portions are on the small side.Yuzu lemonade is definitely Minute Maid lemonade + a little bit of Yuzu flavoring… not worth $2.50. I would come again for the broth and the eggs. Go to Asian market across the street, boil some water and make your own noodles (it’s just like spaghettiand pour the broth over it. C’mon SLO, let’s step up our Asian cuisine!!
This is the comfort food that gets me through finals every quarter! Everything from the rice bowls to the ramen is pretty good. The online ordering can be a bit janky at times, I have received an incorrect item on more than one occasion
Completely delicious, I’ve tried quite a few of their ramens and never been disappointed. Great flavor and texture, everyone is super nice, restaurant is cute and clean. Outdoor and indoor seating.
Amazing vegetarian food but only one item on the menu. On the down side it is expensive. Costs 35 bucks including tip for 2 people. Most gracious and kind staff. Heartwarming.
Delicious food, great service, and safe environment. I had the shoyu ramen with a yuzu lemonade and a cream puff.
Great customer service, however the food wasnt my absolute favorite. I felt like the chicken and broth all lacked flavor and their creamy broth wasnt very creamy at all. I ordered the Tonkotsu, and I will say that the chilli oil on top was a nice touch. The glass noodles and the ramon noodles were great. They have endless options for add ons. For my bowl of ramen I spent $20 in all, and I probably wont go back but if you like ramen youve got to try this place at least once
10/10 definitely would come again, great service and good food, if you guys like Ramen I recommend the Shoyu Ramen for it has great taste and flavor and the noodles are smooth like silk and go down flavorful, this is a good place to stop by and have lunch. 👍👍👍👍👍 🍲🍲🍲
My favorite SLO lunch. While the ramen is great, the Chashu Don is my #1
Great Ramen and quick service. An Asahi and a bowl of ramen while sitting on the patio on a cold night!! We will definitely repeat that recipe for a good night.
We had a teriyaki bowl and ramen. Both were tasty, but the ramen could have been a little more spicy.
Really good place to visit. Close to campus. But because its location is on a busy corner its easy to miss .The ramen is large size servings. The prices are decent.Raku ramen and salmon rice bowls is what we ordered. We love coming g here. The food portions are hig though, so you can easily share. This visit we didnt share and we ended up throwing half of it away because we just didnt want to carry around the left overs. Next time we will be smarter and just take the left overs for later. This place is a must try.
Why? Why are you so delicious? Is it the freshly made noodles? The bright veggies? The rich broths??? The insanely delicious yuzu lemonade??? I dont know. But please just never go away, okay?Literally everything is here is amazing. From the tonknsu ramen to the ahi tuna jalapeño poppers...the curry noodles. Just order one of everything. Gets super crowded during lunch hours, but its worth the wait!!
Worth your time and money. The location is cozy and the flavors are great. Not quite top-notch when it comes to the noodle texture and spices but still worth a try. The seaweed salad was good and they have a few beers to try. Aside from that the classic spicy tonkatsu ramen is what you see pictured.
good ramen place right there!has to taste it!it is a small place!
PROS:+ One of the better ramen joints in the neighborhood+ Cute, cozy spot+ Nice patio seating (great when the weather is nice)+ Fun, fast dining experience+ Service is efficient and quick. No small talk. Straight to business.+ Order, pay, get a buzzer, find available table, get food, eat, leave+ Pretty extensive menu, and even a plastic food display by the register (reminds me of Japan!)+ Mostly young crowd, lots of students from Cal Poly I assumeCONS:- Bowls are on the small side IMO- Can get crowded and difficult to find seating- On the pricey side, especially if you get add-ons- Seating is close together -- hope you like listening to everyones conversations- Loud inside
Probably the number 1 location in SLO if you are sick and its a rainy day. The Curry Beef Udon is a top tier rainy day with a bad cold dish. Forget the Sudafed fam.Only issue is on a cold rainy day you might not have a space to sit because normally they rely on outdoor seating to keep things less crowded.
I had the Miso Ramen reccomended to me for my first time so I would reccomend it myself. Its different from what Im use to eating but i did enjoy it. Its always good to try new things so you can start with that. Its also very affordable.
Good enough. Food, location and ambiance are good. Service is good if you tip when you pay. The tempera was nice and not heavily breaded. Miso ramen was ok, nothing special. Youre given a lot of options so maybe Ill have to try that next time.
My tempura ramen was tasty. Much better than my partners food. So hit or miss on their items. I liked being able to dine outside though.
Best Ramen Ive ever had. Their stuffed jalapeños are, hands down, also the best Ive ever had- I wanna go back just for those! Eating here on a rainy night is a beautiful, delicious, experience.
Interesting place but the taste and quality are great. I finished a small miso ramen. The broth has good flavor.
Fantastic place. Best Ramen accompanied by a nice rice bowl and a Japanese beer. What more do you need when you are hungry and want to try something different.
